We went there for Lois's birthday breakfast, this is one of her favorite breakfast restaurants because of their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Once again she was not disappointed. I started off with a Bloody Mary. It has all the necessary ingredients to be a breakfast on its own. I like mine spicy, to wake up my taste buds, and this one fits the bill. I than had the Barbados Benedict which was delicious. I would have liked to have more Hollandaise sauce, but since this is a healthy food style restaurant, I can see why they skimp on it since it it the most unhealthy part of Eggs Benedict. As a side, I had their Millionaire's Bacon. It is the same as their regular side of bacon with a drisel of maple syrup and a sprinkle of cilantro. The bacon was cooked well done, I like mine a little less, but it was perfect for Lois. Lois had her Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with a side of bacon. Everything was perfect. The pancakes were moist and delicious and the bacon was the way she like it. As usual, the service was excellent and the waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. This is a very, very popular breakfast/brunch/lunch spot, so expect a wait, even at 10:30 am in a weekday. The menu has lots of interesting options, most featuring eggs and/or potatoes. There are always seasonal variations, which is a nice addition. The coffees are also very good. Service is usually friendly and prompt. Portions are more than ample. The bread at this place is absolutely ridiculous. Just amazingly good and fresh and soft and...well it's great. I had the traditional breakfast. It came fast and was piled high with thick cut bacon. Breakfast potatoes are great too but that bread is the star. The interior inside is clean and new. They have some outdoor seating. I was sat in the back room which was a little dark and stale. Maybe they could look at opening up the walls so it does not feel like you're sitting in a closet. Overall a great place for a quick breakfast meeting. They do close at 2:30pm. I was really happy with my experience at First Watch. I have seen many positive reviews pop up in my feed. I appreciate their focus on healthier breakfast options (think avocado toast, quinoa power bowls, etc.) but still include the traditional. Portion sizes are also much more appropriate. Our table sampled the Million Dollar Bacon (a must) and I had the Florentine Eggs Benedict as my meal - loved the green salad with lemon vinaigrette on the side. First time in yesterday. I have to admit I've been avoiding this place because when I go out to eat, it's to splurge on less than healthy options. My son said he liked it so I gave it a shot with him. I had the Chickichanga Which is Whipped eggs with chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilies, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla. It was just ok. Not a ton of flavor and the tortilla looked and felt like a crepe. The sour cream on top even looked like whipped cream or butter on a crepe. Located out in Aksarben, First Watch is a little farther away than most Creighton-favorite brunch spots. However, they had a lot of space to accommodate a busy brunch crowd. Their waiting area even had free coffee, but in styrofoam cups :/ For a place that has quinoa bowls, I expected better! I started with the Morning Meditation. This featured orange juice, turmeric, ginger, beet juice, and agave nectar. I am not usually drawn to these kinds of drinks, but it was just too pretty to resist! It had a wonderful strong ginger flavor as well as the turmeric. It was not too sweet, and a perfect pick-me-up coffee alternative. For brunch, I was leaning more on the lunch side. Seeing as this joint advertised their homemade and healthy menu, I decided to go with the veggie burger. It featured a homemade brown rice patty with peppers, onions, carrots and mushrooms. It was served on a golden-brown brioche bun with avocado, greens, tomato, and dijon mustard. I chose soup as my side. I definitely wasn't disappointed! I could taste the rice and the peppers in my burger. The flavors complimented well and I appreciated that I could discern all the veggies that went into the patty! I liked the tomato, greens, and avocado on top. It definitely needed a lot of the dijonnaise and hot sauce, but I have pretty high standards for spice levels. My only complaint is the lack of variety in texture. Either the patty needed to be crispy, the bread needed to be a harder baguette style, or there needed to be some crunch in the sandwich. I liked the flavors, but it all turned a bit mushy. My friend got the Market Skillet, which featured two eggs over seasoned potatoes cooked with mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, goat cheese, and tons of other veggies. It was served with a side salad and whole grain toast. She had raving reviews for the potatoes, direct quote, "they were amazing!" Maddie also liked that the dish was well seasoned. And look how pretty it is! Overall, I thought this brunch spot had a good selection. In my view, it has the selection of an IHOP or Denny's, one of those classic chain restaurants, but First Watch is actually fresh and caters to everyone's palate - definitely worth the money, unlike those places. Though this will run you a little more money than somewhere that is more diner-style like Lisa's, I felt much better after eating at First Watch. This place is great! I went here to celebrate finals being over with a group of friends. I ordered 'The Works' omelet with potatoes and gluten free toast with a mimosa. I do have to say the potatoes were some of the absolute best I've had. I would highly recommend going here if you like breakfast/brunch food because they have tons of different options! Still, we only waited five minutes before our four-top was seated. The menu is huge. You can order gut-busters like a pile of pancakes and a scramble (eggs, meats, and cheeses) or stick to healthier options (lots of kale and quinoa going around). I kind of went with the middle ground -- one banana crunch pancake paired with an energy bowl. I loved the pancake. It tasted like a fluffy, flattened slice of banana bread. The energy bowl was OK. A bowl of sugary granola topped with a few slices of fruit with yogurt on the side. I'd of like to have seen less granola and more fruit, but oh well. Service was fast and friendly. They really crammed our table full food and drink, including pitchers for water, tea and coffee, making elbow room a little hard to come by. First Watch Daytime Cafe is a cute little place on busy 72nd street in an ever growing plaza of retail and food businesses. It's a newer plaza that reflects the growing vision of Omaha's midtown and an extension of Aksarben, and serves as an wonderful option for business lunches, brunches and breakfasts, as well as serve the neighborhood. Seating wise, it's pretty big for a cafe, and the space reminds me of a nice Panera, although the food menu reflects a much better array of choices. They have so many options that would satisfy a greasy spoon lover, health nut, and trendy eater. I can see how some could complain that that flavors are not as intense, I do feel like they pay attention to the grease, sodium and fats here. It's definitely not a greasy spoon diner in umami respect, but you'll leave feeling a lot better about yourself and the tastes and portions are still adequate in my opinion. Also, they have morning cocktails and a few fresh pressed juices to choose from, which I like a lot. Service was friendly but minimal, with the check dropped at our table shortly after we got our food. The atmosphere was cheery, quiet, and really a mix of types of patrons. Highlights on the menu for me so far include the avocado toast (very reminiscence of California), their sausage and gravy benny, griddles, etc, and the eggs Florentine benedict. Went to First Watch today and it was ok. Nothing at all to get excited about. Just another run of the mill breakfast chains. I got the Acapulco Express Omelet. One of the main reasons I got it was because it had Avocado in it. It literally had three tiny pieces of avocado in it. I bet they can make 30 omelets out of one avocado... It also had chorizo sausage in it. I could only taste the chorizo in about half the bites I took. I will not be rushing back for this item. Went here with relatives on a trip to Omaha. From what I can tell, First Watch is known for their breakfast/brunches. I'm not sure about dinner. The restaurant is large, airy and loud. Lots of families were there with small children. Others were talking away as if no one else was in the room. The bare walls and floor caused echoing. So, don't expect a quiet visit. Their food was good and service was also good. We had about ten at our table. Seating was relatively quick - we did not have a reservation on a Sunday morning, but we were there pretty early. Their coffee was very good, and I'm really hard to please with coffee. I had a simple breakfast - poached eggs and sausage. Their potatoes looked wonderful, but I have a milk allergy and they are made with lots of butter, so I skipped them. Others around the table did say they were quite good. Food 4 stars. Service 3.5 stars. Ambiance 1.5 stars. So, overall a three star experience. read more

I came during Sunday brunch with a friend and the place was pretty packed. It was only a 15 minute wait for the two of us so not too bad. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict whereas my friend got the Belgian waffle and the morning meditation. Service was friendly and food came out pretty fast. The morning meditation (4/5) was a lot better than I thought it'd be - I came once before when they had a juice called Day Glow (2/5) and I was not a fan of that at all. I was extremely disappointed with my eggs Benedict (2/5). On first glance, the poached eggs looked really tiny and there was barely any hollandaise sauce. I cut into one of the eggs expecting a beautiful golden mess to run out, but the yolk was completely cooked! That's a BIG no no for me. There was a decent amount of smoked salmon, but even that was just meh. Also instead of your typical egg muffin, this was served on a ciabatta roll. The little salad it came with tasted like it was mixed with the dressing the day before and left to sit on the counter. Overall, everything was just really underwhelming. The only reason I didn't complain about my food was because I was using a coupon for a free entree I received for my birthday. My friend thought her waffle was pretty good, but not amazing. While I appreciate that this is one of the only breakfast places in Omaha that tries to serve healthy food, I think I'll just stick to making my own breakfast. My two star rating is specifically to share my extreme distaste with a manager/employee scene I witnessed at this location. First, my husband and I used to go there multiple times a week. We used to frequently be the first or second customer through the door during some weekdays. We decided to scale it back when we added it up and realized we were dropping $35.00 every morning on breakfast for two. However, my last visit hammered the nail in the coffin that while the food is fine and the service is good, the management is rotten and I don't want to support them. I would like to point out that this is the same assistant manager Dane who has been there nearly since they opened. I won't use his last name in this review. This was one of those extremely dark, frigid weekday mornings in Omaha where the temperature was in the single digits and the wind chill was well-below freezing. We were the second customers through the door and the restaurant was very cold, as they had just opened. The manager required that all of the non-tasked staff (the people waiting for something to do) wait behind the frosted glass in the prep area, and I could tell walking by there on my way to the bathroom that it was very cold back there. One of the younger waitresses dared to try to warm herself next to the fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. She actually just wanted to get a little warm and perhaps use the fireplace for its stated purpose--you know, heat. Immediately Dane came out and admonished her and told her to get back behind the glass. She protested quietly "I am cold" and he flippantly replied, "yeah, we're all cold." That left such a bad taste in my mouth, it disgusted me to the point that I mentioned it to one of the other servers and said "I don't think we'll be coming back here." The restaurant was not busy and whatever anyone else thinks about "professionalism" and whatnot, I am not so precious about servers standing in a robotic military formation that I would deny warmth to a young woman who had just come in from the cold. It was so dehumanizing and stupid. I really hope she has found a better job with a better manager who is far less petty than Dane has proven himself to be. read more

The entire front of the restaurant was full of people but we were seated in about 15 minutes and they also offered complimentary coffee while you wait for you table.
