I usually love First Watch (gaithersburg location to dine in, and visited at laurel one couple times). I only like to do take out from location due to limited parking spaces. Pumpkin Pancake is meh. I always get the traditional, which it has two fresh eggs ( over easy for me ) with bacon and toast and seasoned potatoes. Side fruits aren't that fresh but it can be edible. My favorite from there is the AVOCADO TOAST, which I think that it's little over priced but I understand why because there are huge amount of avocado in there. We also came to coffee at our table which we thought was complimentary but we ended up being charged on our bill so it would've been nice if we had a heads up. I ended up getting the carbonara eggs Benedict which was okay, I think I've definitely had better eggs Benedict in the past. It also came with the plate 3/4 full of mixed greens which I wasn't a fan of. My boyfriend seemed to enjoy his hacienda hash though. Their eggs are cooked to perfection and their ingredients are full of flavor and super juicy. Their staff is ALWAYS friendly and their coffee is ALWAYS ready to be served. Their dishes are very healthy, presentable, creative, and very well priced! Which makes it very difficult to make a selection! Their food is usually so fresh and good, but I've never ordered a colder, more unfresh omelette in my life. Three of us ordered omelettes and they all were cold and the vegetables were very undercooked. Also, one of our sides was missing and we had to go back for it. The restaurant was not busy and we arrived less than 15 minutes after the order was placed. We waited inside an additional 15 minutes for the order to be completed, so it's puzzling why the eggs were so cold. Also, the entire plaza the rest was located in smelled heavily of trash/sewage--disgusting! I discovered First Watch at this location 2-3 years ago and fell in love; but I will not return to this location nor recommend it. I'd never been to a First Watch before. I found it using Yelp while searching for cafes, which is the type of place I like to go on the weekend. In my opinon, First Watch is more of a family restaurant than a cafe. As far as family restaurants go, it's nice. It was busy, but I was seated in about 15 minutes. I had very good blueberry pancakes. I like that they add a little cup of blueberry shmeg on the side. I also like that they bring a large caraffe of coffee and leave it at the table. I like my coffee. The hash browns were OK. I actually like them more cooked (maybe even a little burnt). I also like the location. You can walk around the nice town center to burn a few calories. Since I was really looking for a cafe, FW was not quite what I wanted. The staff was good, but when people are waiting and the place is packed, I feel a little rushed. The staff did not push me out. This is basically IHOP's organic cousin. The food was decent, nothing I would come back for. The chia pudding was pretty good but I wasn't crazy about it. I will say that it was surprisingly satisfying and it kept me full all day. The pancake was kind of dry. I love pancakes so this was really disappointing. I did like that they had fresh-made juices. I wasn't too adventurous and just stuck with plain OJ. Fresh-squeezed orange juice doesn't really make up for everything else though. I've been here about 3 times now, and it's always been consistently good! The pancakes are fluffy and done well, and the quinoa bowl I last had as my healthy choice surprised me by how GOOD it was (usually, when I see something labeled as "healthy choice" I steer WAY clear of it because I assume it will be bland and tasteless), but not so with this delicious quinoa bowl! It had a rich creaminess to it, which was balanced out nicely by the tartness of the lemon and the fresh herbs in the bowl. I do have one small complaint about the orange juice at First Watch from a visit back in July. I came with my friend and we both ordered orange juice, but when we tasted it, it was not just unripe and sour, but had a definite spoiled taste to it. I'm a sucker for a place that serves breakfast in the afternoon, so I had to check this place out. I've since come four or five times, and I've always walked away satisfied. They have great pancakes and waffles, as well as delicious omelettes. The lunch options are varied as well: burgers, sandwiches, etc. The portions are large, and the prices are reasonable. I've heard plenty of complaints here about the service, but I've never had an issue, so maybe it's a hit or miss kind of thing. Thankfully, I've always been there at the right time. I loved that they put the water jug and coffee pot right on the table. I wish every place did that - it gets tiring having to ask for water every time I finish a cup. And why pay two bucks for a cup of coffee at Starbucks when you can drink all the coffee you'd like right here for the same price? If you're someone who agrees with the expression "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper", then First Watch is the place for you. When it comes to breakfast food, I have yet to find a restaurant that matches the creativity and quality First Watch implements in its menu. They offer breakfast classics such as the Traditional (Eggs, meat, potatoes) or pancakes (which are as big as a dinner plate I might add), but the true gems lie in their specialty omelets and eggs-clusives (pun-tacular). The Chickichanga is one of the best, only surpassed in my book by the Killer Cajun omelet (the Sante Fe sauce is absolute fire, I put that s*** on everything). The hashes and benedicts are phenomenal, and while I wish I could comment on their "Healthier Side" section, I love everything in the regular (non healthy?) menu too much to stray. If it ain't broke... They also have seasonal menu items and juices, varying from "Meh" to "Sweet Baby Jesus". If you're a regular like me, try them out, but first timer's might want to just stick with the main fare. Booths and tables a plenty, outside patio as well. Service has always been good, if not great. Found it can vary based on the time of day/day of week, as well as which server you get. No complaints!! I come here often with friends or family and everyone always enjoys it. The food comes out quick, it tastes delicious, and best of all, you can tell they use great ingredients. First off, the pancakes are amazing. As big as your face (or bigger), with so many different types (banana nut, chocolate chip, carrot cake, BACON..) and the best consistency because it's soft and slightly crispy on top and really just tastes better than cake. The best part of the menu is the skillet hashes--Avocado, bacon and tomato mixed in chopped potatoes with two eggs on top is really just heaven. Also the market hash which has goat cheese, mushroom, zucchini, onions, red peppers, spinach (also with eggs over potatoes) is amazing. Lastly, they have lunch options too. I've gotten a lot, to say the least, and the shining items to me are the Baja turkey burger with the hearty vegetable stew (seasonal, tear*). Really, I've never had a dish where i was just like, "meh". Never disappoints :) Their service is good, the people are nice and the food comes out fast, and on weekend mornings when it is PACKED, somehow they always say the wait is only 20 minutes and they are always always right. I really like First Watch because of a few reasons 1) The coffee - it's really good and they now even have cold brew. 2) The quality of the food - Never had a bad meal here despite having a variety of different things to eat. I can honestly say that you won't find something that isn't delicious here. Even something as simple as a cup of fruit was tatsy and fresh. 3) The staff is helpful and patient (there are an army of children running around as this is a family friendly place) The only thing I don't like is the wait here is rather tremendous, it's not uncommon to have to wait several hours (yes, HOURS) for a table during the weekend. Came here as a party of 7 for brunch on Sunday. I put our name on the online wait list a few hours before so that we would be the next party seated when we got there. When we arrived, we were at the top of the wait list - the next party to be seated. We waited about 20 minutes for the next table to open up that could fit all 7 of us. I strongly recommend putting your name on the online wait list very early. Our server Robert was super friendly and very efficient!!! He even offered to do separate checks for us, which I know is hard for servers of large parties. The food was delicious. My favorite was the lemon ricotta pancakes. All of the portion sizes were decent, and the prices good for what you get. The food came out at different times though, so half of us had to wait a few minutes for the rest of the food to come before we ate. Their food is SO good! I only recently found this place (have been 3-4 times now) and have loved everything I've gotten there so far, as has my husband. However, the location in Rockville is not that big, so it gets busy quickly. The first time we went we got there at 9:30 and would have had to wait a bit if we didn't sit at the community table. The next time we got there at 9 and got seated right away, so get there earlyish. The healthy turkey is good, but very light. It was enough food with the toast, but is a light breakfast compared to other options. The Farmhouse hash is really good! Unlike the healthy turkey, though, it is quite filling (I didn't finish it all.) It is very tasty and a good mix of stuff (avo, egg, tomato balance the heavier potatoes, and bacon.) The Market hash is the perfect medium. It is more food than the healty turkey, so it's filling, but it's all veggies, so it's not overly filling, like the farmhouse one. I really like the jam they have for the toast, and the multigrain toast is awesome! (Is it Dave's Killer Bread? First Watch is pretty good. The menu is expansive and there are definitely choices for any type of diet. They have classic breakfast dishes, original creative items, and some old school recipes with a modern touch. This place gets pretty packed so its convenient to join the wait list on Yelp prior to arriving. That saved me from a 30 minute wait last week so THANK YOU YELP. As far as the execution of the food, I wasn't super pleased the last two times I went but it wasn't bad. I had a breakfast bold with over medium eggs and the eggs were more easy, than over easy (runny white yolk). I also recently ordered a special, the carnita's breakfast burrito. The flavor was pretty good but the meat was more dry than properly cooked carnitas should be. I had one of their juice blends which was average but I think I would prefer a fresh squeezed orange juice. I will say that the service was really good. Food came out in a timely manner and even for how busy it was the wait staff was on it. I also want to say that I tried my girlfriends cinnamon chip pancakes and they were really good. So a couple of months ago I went back just to see if it had improved and the food was excellent. the chocolate chip pancakes melt in your mouth, but they're do huge first time I went back I made the mistake of ordering 3 last week when I went I ordered 2 and they were delicious I always ask for whip cream with mine cause it makes it better.
