They will text you, so you won't have to be stay in the crowded atrium. However, once you're seated then it's smooth sailing from there. Everything tastes fresh and wholesome, from the seasonal smoothies and toast to the eggs and bacon. ...Bacon is not fresh and wholesome. But Million Dollar Bacon is worth lying for. Drizzled in maple syrup and cooked to a delightful chewiness, it melts on your tongue and is worth poking your thieving friend with a fork over. This stuff is worth its weight in steak. We were not in the best of shape on Sunday morning, and up early and craving food, we headed to First Watch (since they open at 7am). We expected a wait since it was Sunday. Hostess told us 15-20 minutes, which we expected. I appreciated all the seating available for those waiting + free coffee, water and newspapers. We had great service for such a busy Sunday. I loved the personal pot of coffee (which was very good) and the water. I had the egg's benedict with smoked turkey and avocado. My husband had the hash with avocado and tomato. We really enjoyed our meals and I can't wait to come back - there's so much on the menu I want to try! So I thought for sure that arriving here before 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning would put us in a good position to be seated immediately since everyone would either be getting ready for or headed to church. Turns out my fellow heathens all had the same idea because it was packed with about a 30 minute wait. It also took quite a while to get our food after we ordered. Other than that, it was pretty tasty. I ordered the Chickichanga which ranks slightly below the Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity in terms of being embarrassing to order. It was just the right amount of spicy and served with home fries and fresh fruit. My dining companion ordered something low-carb and I'm sure it was lovely despite being low-carb. Showed up and checked in immediately after another family. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait, and we received the text confirmation that we had checked in. 30 minutes roll around and we see the family that had checked in right before us already seated and receiving their food they had already ordered. When we go to ask what the hold up is we are told that there are still six more people in line before us! We go back outside to wait and figure out what we're going to do when we overhead the couple after us say that they went to check as well and they had mysteriously been removed entirely from the list; however, they were then immediately offered the next available table. At this point, we realized that this place is not worth the time and effort and they really showed us that they aren't interested in keeping us around. So be it! read more

The girl took my name down (for 2) and said the wait was 20 minutes long. Ok no biggie. 50 minutes later... oh man. If we only knew where else to go for brunch... that was pretty ridiculous to wait an hour for breakfast! But we were there so they finally call our name at 11:52 and we got to sit and eat. Other than the long wait, the server, the food, the ambiance away from the waiting crowd was fine. Our waitress was quick and nice and that was good because we were starving by then. I ordered the 2-for-you option which comes with a sandwich and/or soup and/or salad. I got the tomato basil soup and the roast beef sandwich. Both were pretty good. The tomato basil was slightly tangy and savory and delish! Would definitely go well with a nice grilled cheese sandwich. The roast beef sandwich was also pretty good. Not too salty, crunchy toast, soft melted cheese, slightly crispy fresh tomato, and medium done roast beef. Not bad at all. It was definitely good enough that I would come here on a non-busy day... but definitely would not wait more than 20 minutes. Next time, when I go, I think I will try the pancakes. Service: Excellent! I came here fairly clueless of what to order. I realized upon looking at the menu that it was almost like a classier version of your commonplace breakfast place. I walked in and our server was very cooperative with my lack of experience here. I was well informed and happy with the treatment I received. Food: I don't remember the name of the entree I ordered, but it was an egg dish with sauteed mushrooms and onions underneath. The food was cooked well and the fresh juice I ordered was nice as well. The only reason I am removing a star is because I didn't find anything at this restaurant that I wouldn't find anywhere else for a similar if not lower price. Don't get me wrong, I was fairly happy with my experience, especially the service I received. I just think that I came in expecting something new and fancy, especially since my meal cost just over $20 Environment: This place is in the heart of Rockville, but once you walk in, it seems as if you are at the bottom floor breakfast room of an 1800s Inn with the furnishings of an 80's diner. First Watch is always packed on weekend mornings - expect to wait if you turn up before noon on Saturday or Sunday. It's packed because the food is really good and the servers are friendly! It's a family crowd on the weekends with more of a business crowd during the week, on their lunch hours from the nearby courthouses. The Belgian Waffle is truly delicious and the Monterey Club sandwich is a killer for lunch! I have carried it out a couple of times and it's also a great carry out sandwich. It's so good I haven't been able to branch out yet to try more on the lunch menu :). I'll work on that in the new year..... First Watch also has a board of interesting seasonal specials. They close at 2 pm everyday so you have to enjoy them for breakfast or lunch. read more

Only reason this gets a 4-stars instead of 5 is b/c whenever you want to go it's always suuppppperr packed. Otherwise great food. The pancakes are on point (chocolate chip is definitely my hands down favorite). Their omelettes are usually my go to - my girl usually gets the hash bowl, and I always regret not getting the same. When you get in and there is a wait it does tend to get a little crowded, but the fact that they serve you free coffee until your table is ready is a bonus. I have some other favorite breakfast spots, but for a GOOD, moderately priced breakfast that's pretty close and convenient, First Watch is the go to for sure. Servers are always friendly and helpful - haven't had a bad experience yet and I've been going here for three years. They do have some occasional good deals and seasonal stuff rotated in, so signing up for their emails is not committing to tons of spam. read more

Since it's located in Rockville Town Square, when the weather is nice the wait time for a table can be a bit long. I like coming here early in the morning- better service and less time to wait for a table because it's not as busy! Food options are great and delicious! "First" of all, slicing the tomato for my eggs Benedict must have left the chef with a dull knife, it was that unripe. One egg yolk was nearly cooked solid and the other closer to the way it should be: oozing out when cut into. The ciabatta or whatever bread was the base for this dish needed a very sharp knife to cut otherwise carpal tunnel syndrome anyone? The whole thing plus potatoes was barely warm when it showed up in front of me. One will find at the table small coffee creamer containers designed to be left out at room temperature. I am hardly a coffee snob but I do draw the line at those (bleeping) things. I asked for milk and was provided some fresh from the refrigerator which results in 2 stars instead of one. The name of this place reminds me of a senior citizens' home or a hospital. We ordered sandwiches - a turkey and a Monterey club - and found them to be very tasty. The 'salad' (really a salsa medley type item) was given a good review by my friend but was not quite as appealing to my tastebuds - same with the 'firstwatch potatoes' that it came with, although their problem was that they were rather bland. So, food-wise, this place wasn't half-bad. Noise-wise, it was worse than a rock concert for a restaurant of its type - we were besieged by babies crying from the first moment we opened the door. I will probably order something else next time. An omelet that didnt' have as much yolk mixed-in and just a small amount of chicken and mushrooms to barely fill in the omelet. The "First Watch" potatoes are equivalent to the potatoes you get for free at a Courtyard Marriott or a Hampton Inn (so don't get too excited). My friend ordered the Chickichonga and it didn't look half bad. I'm a sauce guy, and the chipotle/southwestern sauce looked pretty good. My friend likes this place because she can walk out without feeling "heavy." So if you're looking for a decent breakfast place, and you don't feel like your stomach will be lined with grease, I guess you can give this place a shot. I did not like this place when I went and was frankly disappointed with the experience. I absolutely love brunch and always find it bizarre how a restaurant can mess up something so easy?? It's a kinda blah place mostly focused on breakfast and overly focused on being healthy. Everything comes with some kind of healthy touch, from crimini mushrooms on everything to turkey bacon to quinoa bowls. It's a little overdone if you ask me. Came at 1:30pm on a Saturday and although it was packed and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table, service was quick. They did put cheese on one of our orders when we specifically asked for "no cheese" though. Overall, the food was just okay - really nothing that great. The omelettes were kind of plain tasting. Be forewarned - if you ask for milk to put in your coffee, they will charge you and extra $3.00 for the privilege, and you won't know that until you get the bill! As someone who likes my coffee light, and prefers real milk to tiny containers of either the processed chemicals and corn syrup in non-dairy creamer, or the fat-laden and chemically-preserved non-refrigerated half and half, I thought it just evened out - some take their coffee black, some like milk in it. It is bad enough that they don't carry real, whole milk for coffee (the least processed form of milk), but then they charge you for milk that has been processed to have the fat (or most of it) removed! If this is a First Watch policy generally, I'm not eating at their restaurants anymore - they already charge a bunch for their rather weak and not very good coffee. read more

Dropped in for brunch with my family earlier this week. Like one of the locations in Virginia, this First Watch spot hits mostly high marks. The Trifecta with Bacon was tasty and my waffle was cooked to perfection, but it wasn't a ton of food. The other people in my party all got a ton of food, though, so I was able to eat the scraps of their leftovers. Biscuits were tasty, bacon was solid, and the service was very attentive. And the booths here are huge, so for our group of four, my two-year-old had plenty of space to make a mess and stand up in her seat. read more

I love it here! We've been coming here for years. The wait is usually pretty short and overall we've had some nice servers. I only dock a star because we've had a couple of instances where food comes out cold (like it's been sitting there) or items come out at different times (my husband orders a side of bread with his food always, and they've brought the food and forgotten the bread. By the time the bread finally arrives, it's been 10 mins, etc). We've been here hundreds of times so it's definitely not often that this happens.
