We placed an order for two to go from this location. After we picked up the food and went back home, we realized we were missing the side and toppings from one entree and the other meal looked like it was meant for a tiny child. The portion sizes are not nearly the same for a pickup order compared to dine in. When we went back, the host said that is the normal size which it is not as we have ordered that before. I understand mistakes happen but they did not make it right as our food was sitting, got cold and was no longer fresh and paid good money for two lousy meals. I went there for lunch with a group of 5. We wanted to sit at the large communal table which was empty. The table had a couple of water glasses and napkins from prior guests. We were told by the hostess to wait until it was cleaned before sitting down. The hostess stood at her stand rolling silverware while we patiently waited. After waiting for 10 minutes when there was no one else waiting we asked her if we could please sit down. She insisted that we wait for the bus person to clean the table. She made no effort to find that person or to quickly wipe the table herself which would have taken 2 minutes! After 15 minutes we told her we were leaving and she waved us out the door. This was appalling. I know that the owner or manager would have agreed. I will not return to that location. read more

Incredibly grateful to the staff at Carefree's First Watch for working working with me to host 15 people for an early lunch in December following our wedding rehearsal. The waitress who worked our large table was patient and attentive. The manager, Val, was kind and welcoming. To everyone we didn't see directly, but I know was working in the back to prepare all the food THANK YOU IT WAS DELICIOUS! I've always enjoyed the food and the service when I've visited the First Watch on Scottsdale and Carefree Hwy. But the smell when we walk in is sometimes pretty bad. Today it smells like a farm, particularly a cow field. Another couple had to leave because of the smell. I can withstand it because soon my nose will be smelling crab cake Benedict. My 92 y/o father and I stopped here for breakfast, and we really enjoyed ourselves. He is a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast, so some of the menu fair elicited eye rolls from him (Quinoa, steel cut Irish oat meal...) because fancy/healthy is not his breakfast thing. Alexis our server greeted us warmly with a steaming pot of fresh coffee. I really liked that the mugs here are large, and I was able to start my caffeine intake quickly. Great start! We reviewed the large menu, so many options, and ordered right away. The dining room here is decorated in what I would refer to as distressed rustic, looking for a combination of a Starbucks/Black Bear Diner motif. Very nice. Dad opted for the Eggs Benedict Basic, and I ordered the Bacado omelette. We sipped our coffees and made morning small talk while watching the buzz of the dining room. Constructive critique in 3, 2, 1...possibly biting the bullet and hiring a busperson here would help the busy servers. Looked to me like each server was carrying a 4 to 6 table grouping, and very busy at the time we stopped in (around 9am). There were a few tables unbussed and a host/server with a leg brace who was working hard to support the floor team. Our food was served in a timely manner, and dad was surprisingly pleased with his meal...which is to say it came with no fruit or "fufu." My Bacado omelette was nicely prepared, although it came with a lot more "Bac" than "Ado." There was a small slice of avocado on top, and its partner tucked way inside the right of my folded french egg sandwich. Not bad, but worth noting if its going to share top billing on the noted menu item. The breakfast potatoes on the side were perfectly seasoned and prepared. Light and not the usual spud suspect, with one side Han Solo'ed in carbonite. Just right. Serving ourselves with the large coffee urn was really nice here. We enjoyed breakfast overall and I will likely bring my healthy eating wife back to First Watch for another meal. Good service, good food. We will be back. read more

As my husband and I were walking into First Watch, a gentleman and employee started arguing. The gentleman called the employee an A$$hole then got into the employees face. I come here many weekends as my parents live nearby and the breakfast is always fantastic. I am a big fan of the First Watch chain because they so many fresh options and it's not obscenely busy like Snooze would be at an equivalent time. My personal favorite thing to get here is the Ham and Gruyere Omelette. This thing just comes loaded with ham and a nice layer of cheese on top. Perfectly complimented with your choice of side and some toast, it is always dependable. They also have some great drinks like Morning Meditation and Kale Tonic, both of which I highly recommend. However, if you want the biggest treat here, try the Million Dollar Bacon. Deliciously sweet, this candied bacon will make you feel like you've ascended to a higher plane of food enjoyment. There is one caveat with this location I must bring to attention. The service on the patio is often atrocious. DO NOT sit outside unless you are not in a hurry, as it is usually completely neglected and forgotten. We've gone 20-30 minute periods without a server coming to check up on us. On our most recent outside experience, we got so tired of waiting for our check, we ended up just going to the hostess up front and asking for it. Thankfully, she was nice enough to offer some compensation for our bad experience that day. The vegan food was really bad, it's nice they offer an option (wish they had more) but it's clear they don't have a clue about cooking without dairy. I try not to write reviews unless it's really good or really bad. Well this falls into the really bad category. First, the food. This review really isn't about the food. Their dishes tend to be consistent with some better than others. No complaints there. This is totally about service. This has to be the worst service experience I have had in such a long time. This starts about by being served by a lady we will call D. First, D to close to 10 minutes to even come take our drink orders. Ok, not a big deal as they were busy. We order drinks and ask for water. This is where it starts to go south. She bring the drinks and we then ask for straws. Simple enough. Well another 9 minutes go by, still no straws. Ok, we ask again for straws and water. This is the second time. By then our food is here and of course she put in the order wrong for my daughter and they had the remake her order. D is pretty flippant about her error and proceeds to walk away again, still with no water or straws. At this point, 15 minutes in, it becomes my personal challenge to get some freaking water and a couple of straws!! So I stop D as she is walking by, simply saying "excuse me, but could we possibly get the water and straws we have been asking for for quite some time delivered?". Bad goes to worse at this point. D goes off in a huff, FINALLY brings straws and water, but slam pretty much slams the water down and throws the straws, and she did throw them, into the table and begins to snap at us that "straws and water are given upon request!". Wait what? Did not the 3 requests in. 15 minute time span not count for "upon request? What the eff??? At this point I am about to totally lose it but my wife says let's finish and leave. So we do that. But it still leaves me burning that their server is snapping at me, slamming water on the table and being totally disrespectful. It's not my fault that you are not very good at your job D. No one goes out looking for drama when they just want brunch! Given that experience, we will be changing our weekly dining for brunch to other restaurants. While we weren't expecting a Mastro's experience, good competent service should be the norm. Whomever runs this franchise should not let these type of employees hurt their business. I for one will not be going back, especially since getting water and a straw with your meal seems to be a huge issue at this establishment and cause for drama. Except for the annoying birds ready to pounce.... I loved the patio vibe and open-air feel while enjoying our delicious breakfast. I had the Floridian French toast and my husband ordered the regular one. Mine came topped with fresh kiwi, strawberry and banana slices and was scrumptious! It was served with a side fruit compote ...that was a bit tart but tasty. I spent extra and ordered real maple syrup! Well worth it. My husband's French toast was sprinkled with confectioners sugar and also had the compote on the side. He opted to forgo the syrup and just spread the compote on top. Great meal, excellent service. I absolutely Love First Watch! The Morning Meditation juice is my favorite - orange, lemon, ginger, tumeric and beet juice is so refreshing! On this particular day I also had hot tea - which was nice to get a selection brought to the table. If you're brunch people (who isn't?) then you should check this place out! We LOVE brunch/breakfast food, like seriously. My husband and I had breakfast for dinner at our wedding; waffle bar, eggs Benedict station and all. First Watch is open 7am-2:30pm. We went around 11am and they were pretty busy but we only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. They had a coffee station and melon water available in the waiting area with multiple creamer options and the coffee was HOT. (Yum!) Once we were sat, we waited about 15 minutes without being seen. My husband (politely) went up to the hostess and asked if our waiter could be sent over. He rushed over and apologized for the wait. I think there was some confusion on who was going to serve our table. Anyways, he was very attentive and nice after this. They have a big selection for omelettes, different types of eggs Benedict's, waffles/pancakes/French toast. They also have lunch options (sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.) I ordered the veggie burger with the side of greens. The burger was great! Big hearty rice patty, whole wheat bun, tons of avocado, fresh ingredients. It normally comes with "dijonaise" but since I don't eat mayo I ordered the honey Dijon on the side, although the burger really didn't need it after I put some hot sauce on there. My husband ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict. He didn't think it was worth it for the price, but he said it was a good light option on their menu. The decor is rustic/farmhouse and really cute! The people sitting behind us complained that their food came out at all different times and they received a discount for the inconvenience. Overall, we enjoyed our food and will be back to try the various brunch options, but were disappointed in the service. read more

Breakfast for 2 at 10am and it was bit crowded. But the server notified us that it was taking a little longer than expected for our plates. The food came out sooner than expected and the food was great. Little one had a plain pancake with fruit and I had Floridian French toast that came with fruit. Everything was cooked right with the right amount of fluffiness in the bread. My big highlight was a seasonal drink they offered : Carrot/Chai Tea/Ginger juice.
