Service as great- immediately seated me while I waited for my two friends to walk from their car parked at a good distance away. It was a Sunday around lunch time at 11:30 a.m. and full up with a long line we had out front. Took about 35 min - normal and I had waited on a bench outside - worked out well. The other two did not need to wait since they seated me and waited the few min it took them to arrive. All good on the service all around. Our server was attentive and kind and was professional. Busy and that has the noise level a bit loud to be able to converse too much but food consistently good. I tried a new fall item the Maple Bacon Croissant Sandwich. It was good but a bit too sweet for me with the maple and jam combo. The pickled jalapeños helped cut the sweetness but they were on the spicier side for my pallet. I found a good medium taking some off. You could really see how ooey gooey the cheese was though. Love that! And the potatoes had onions and fabulous seasoning. Cooked just right. They offer a nice menu from breakfast to soups and salads, sandwiches and quite a few healthy options. We arrived at First Watch on E. Speedway Blvd, Tuscan, AZ for lunch. They were getting ready to close. The friendly manager invited us in and made us feel comfortable. We ordered tomato and chicken rice soup first. Tomato soup was great. Chicken rice soup was a little to think for my liking. Next was a turkey club and a roast beef sandwich. Both sandwiches were very good. I find the food at First Alert is always very good. $$ to $$$ pricing. We had coffee which was 3.50 for a bottomless cup. The staff was cleaning up while we ate which did not bother us. Our waiter took good care of us. Food came out quickly. No complaints. Plenty of parking. Take credit cards with no surcharge. I think this is just the best place to have breakfast in Tucson. Anytime we come to town, we came sure this is where we go. I have nothing bad to say besides my waitress forgot my to go cup (LOL). We like this chain and the service is great. We like to eat out weekly for breakfast. First Watch has a good menu and usually services great food. However this particular restaurant has a problem with their home fries. According to the waitress they cook their home fries early and put the in a draw to keep warm/. The problem is if you eat breakfast late the potatoes are partially burnt and have a burnt taste.. This store had this problem for years. They started putting more thermometers in the drawer and changed their rules to check on them periodically. However this restaurant for some reason consistently fails to do that so they have burnt home fries after 10AM. As they know it's a problem it is doubly bad that it continues. read more

I was a HUGE Good Egg fan. Literally went every weekend, staff knew mine and my husband's names, would have our order in when we sat. It was the best! So I was sad when First Watch bought The Good Egg and updated the menu and changed the vibe to be more hip. I honestly have maybe gone to First Watch 3 times in the years since the change, which I think was in like 2015? I was bitter and there was a plethora of other good local breakfast joints opening. We decided to give this Speedway location another try recently and while nothing could match the warmth and deliciousness that The Good Egg gave me, we had a great visit. Ordered the tradition breakfast and it was hot, fresh and yummy. (Didn't have the local hot sauce the good egg had, but I subbed with Cholula). The service was decent, the food was good and I left happy. We've been back one more time and it was equally as good. I don't know if I'll be a regular here, but for now, I'll add it back to the list of breakfast options. I also appreciate the option to check-in before arrival online. One star off (probably closer to a 4.5, but that isn't allowed) because it did take forever for us to get beverages and both times I've gone, the toast was left too long before being buttered so it wasn't melted. Me and my daughter always come here after any doctor appointments she may have that is right across the street. She loves the chocolate chip pancake. It's huge and delicious. They bring a bottle of warm syrup to your table to go with it. I always get something different, this last time I got the ham and gruyere omelette. It was really good, it came with that and potatoes. I am really a hash brown fan so I really wish they had hash browns as an option. I also got cheesy grits and they were just ok. Fast service and our waiter was great. read more

I went to the First Watch on Broadway with the Yelp Elite event and it was fantastic. We're back and I did have the lemon ricotta pancakes which I never would've tried without that event. This review bums me out. We just wanted to go out for brunch. We weren't in any hurry and enjoying a lazy morning. But things went wrong the moment we arrived. I'll start with, Don't bother checking in online. It's like hitting the crosswalk sign in downtown New York, strictly for placebo effect. When we walked in, we were told "perfect timing, you're next" so we thought we were, you know, NEXT. But no, we watched for 10 minutes as others got sat. When we asked about it, we weren't given any other explanation (except "you're next" which we clearly weren't) as the manager turned around and sat TWO more tables!! I don't think "next" means what they think it means. It made no sense. At other restaurants, I've waited over an hour for a table but still gave them five-stars! Why? Because they communicated and set reasonable expectations. They didn't keep saying the word "next" while still seating people ahead of us!! Giving First Watch the benefit of the doubt, it's possible this "manager" (didn't get his name but he worked the morning of 21 March) was incapable of actually explaining how there's any difference in online check in and walking up in person. He said that they have two lists and that they take those in person before online checkins. Okay soooooo if walking up is when you actually get on the "active" list, again, what is the point of checking in online? Besides that, this guy would not take constructive criticism without being flippant. I'd want my customers to tell me when they've been told clearly one thing and then another thing happens! But HE actually did it too! I told him I didn't want to ruin his day and that we just didn't understand what was going on. He quipped back that he "certainly was going to have a nice day" so i hope he goes somewhere to eat when he gets off of work and they set him up for a nice day EXACTLY as he did ours. Oh and he brought us a kale drink "on the house" even though I didn't order or ask for anything. My husband said it was an olive branch but then they actually tried to CHARGE us for it!! It was sitting completely untouched in the middle of our table, as was most of my mediocre breakfast. We should have just walked out as soon as he stared blowing us off about the whole "next" thing. Bottom line: online check in was a waste of time, the "manager" clearly isn't customer oriented, the service at nearly every First Watch I've been to is a crapshoot (although this time, it was good when we did finally got seated) and the food is meh, so just eat somewhere else, maybe Bisbee Breakfast Club or Sonoran Brunch Co.. even Denny's with a smile would have been better than this morning. Oh and as my husband was walking out, he overheard a woman walk-in and say that she had used the online reservation thing and they should've been seated within 45 minutes. We enjoyed brunch here this weekend. We went online and got our names on the waitlist, so they had a table for us as soon as we got there. I had the bacado omelette. It was a delicious omelette with lots of bacon, avocado, and cheese inside. It came with a side of spring greens dressed lightly with a lemon dressing. I asked for sourdough toast as a substitute for the whole grain toast. It took awhile, but I eventually got the right toast with a side of delicious jam. My husband ordered the parma skillet hash, which had Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cheese over potatoes and topped with two eggs. It came with a side of whole grain toast and jam. Cups of coffee rounded out the meal. Our server was very attentive to making sure we always had a pot of coffee at our table. Popular breakfast place from what I've been told so we decided to stop in. Perhaps I'm blessed with amazing breakfast places in LA as this was around the same level as a Denny's. I ordered a frittata and it arrived on the smaller sizes of portions (vs omelettes). The buttered ciabatta was fair and the dish itself was fairly void of flavor.
