With so many excellent choices in St Louis I could have done much better. This was my first and last visit to Fitz's which belongs in the tourist trap category. While it is a very cool place the food is somewhere between mediocre and sub standard I was very disappointed. I had the Bourbon burger which sounded great but lacked taste. You come to St Louis - you gotta try a root beer float from Fitz's. It's written in the by-laws somewhere I'm pretty sure. We didn't eat food, but the float was like a meal unto itself. Large enough to split even though you probably won't want to. Lots of fun flavors and recipes to choose from. We had the Eurostar which was topped with Nutella. You may run out of root beer, though, so order an extra root beer to supplement. They brew their own so it only makes sense. It's delicious and fun! Great local spot in the city. If you're a fan of good root beers,cream sodas, and others alike this place is for you. The quality is great, I ordered a root beer float and a burger and both were really good. I was surprised by it but even the toasted raviolis had good flavor. This was my first time at Fitz and it was absolutely delicious! There were lots of great options on the menu and something that everyone could enjoy. The floats live up to their name! We had a bowl of chili and gumbo, entrees and shakes/float for dessert. I'll probably get the gumbo every time i come. I was very surprised and how much flavor it packed! Come here for the giant floats. The food is just okay - pricey, too. Atmosphere is a little chaotic. Floats are totally worth it, though. It's always busy here but if you can get in at a good time, I recommend a table near the bottling area - you can watch the soda bottling process which is really neat. read more

The first thing that caught my attention were all of their cool soda flavors that they are known for. They're also in cute old school bottles, which is a plus. I think the highlight of this trip was definitely the massive root beer float we received to celebrate. Five huge scoops of ice cream on top of their house made root beer. Another icon in St Louis. My family just stopped in for shakes and root beer floats after we had lunch down the street. I read reviews and saw pictures of the food and decided there were better food options a few doors down. The portions here are massive so I'd suggest splitting a shake or float and they will half it for you when they bring it out. We also got a big variety pack of sodas to take home and I'm looking forward to drinking those. read more

It's bigger than my HEAD. The Reuben was great -- in-house smoked turkey tender and *smoky*. Me being me, I could use more tart crunchy kraut... but sauce was great, cheese was gooey, bread retained crispy crunch. *That was three meals of food.* and I went for the classic root beer float, which was about a pint of ice cream and a pint of root beer. DAYUM. And it was as good as it was enormous... sigh. I recall spending my 20s looking for the perfect root beer... and now I'm in my #%^+'s (not telling!!!), I cant chug the stuff like I used to... but I would totally have ordered this for delivery. What a great place to bring the kids! After living here for years, we finally checked it out...the local soda brewing company. Think of a traditional American diner decorated with colorful soda bottles. We went early which allowed us to get a parking spot in the small lot in the rear and be seated immediately. The server and hostess were friendly and wore extra bright smiles. The food: kids meals were not "Amazing" according to the children. The Mac and cheese looked like dried Kraft Mac and Cheese. It came with a bunch of sides. Surprisingly, they ordered the fresh pineapple. (Who are these little critters?!?). My daughter had a smaller cheeseburger. I got a Shirley temple soda float and waited. And waited. And waited. And there were staff everywhere, it wasn't like they were busy either. There were five other tables filled, tops. Half the staff were on their phones. When we finally did get my food, I was so excited. I picked up the straw and took and a sip and... my soda was warm. Not cold, not cool. WARM. Not even lukewarm, like on the border of being almost hot. I was horrified. The ice cream was melting faster as a result and it tasted so awful I just didn't drink it. I wanted to ask for a new one but I couldn't get ahold of the waitress and we just paid and left. So disappointed. Warm soda?! In a float!! Really...I was so sad :( read more

I don't know why anyone would give this place anything less than 5 stars. Fabulous burgers, humongous shakes and perfect fries. We always bring anyone who visits us here. It's a St.Louis thing and it's so much fun watching the sodas being made. The only thing is that there is almost always a long wait and it can get kinda messy. You can't go wrong with the floats- all of them are great. We've tried a bunch of their burgers and for some reason we like the turkey the best. Their Cajun gumbo is pretty good too. My cousin had a cheese pizza and loved it. I encourage splitting their floats though. There is just so much and no one needs that much sugar. I also like how they are trying to be more eco friendly and ask before handing out straws to everyone. The only sad thing is with portions so big, I see people wasting SO much! read more

The restaurant itself is renown for serving craft root beer and other sodas which I thought was cool. Also if I remember correctly the sodas are bottled at this location.They are also known for their amazing root beer float that look like something that you'd need to share with your date..haha The menu offers a lot of choices when it comes to food. You can pick anything from burgers, to gumbo to gluten free food. Well you can't come to Fitz's Root beer and not order a root beer. If you like root beer you'd like the one from this place. I also ordered the Bottler's burger which came with a side a fries and some sort of tartare sauce. The burger itself was really flavorful but the fries were dry. It was such a great experience to go. I got the root beer float with the grape soda and strawberry ice cream on top. I was amazing. We had this amazing waitress that was so nice. When we went there was a glitch in there system, that they had lost our order. So we just had to wait a few extra minutes for our food. All the managers were so nice about it and gave us our three root beer floats for free and five dollars off the meal. Was a very great place to go too and recommended to all people. read more

It had been many years since I visited Fitz's, but went here with some out-of-town company the other day. Fitz's is perfectly located in the Loop across from Blueberry Hill (where we would've gone if the line at Fitz's was too long). This unique spot highlights some of the best of STL: toasted ravioli, those crazy sandwiches with the chili on them, and Kaldi's coffee in cola form. Our service was good enough, but the speed, size, and value of the meals were phenomenal. You don't always get this from a tourist-attraction restaurant, but maybe these traits also lend to Fitz's being so popular. I'm pretty sure our entire table received the order within 10 minutes of placing it; the size of all of the food is humongous (if you consider that a good thing); and the price is definitely not gouging. I heard that this was a place that I had to try out! I did not enjoy the pulled pork sandwhich, which was flavored with one of their sodas. The flavor was weird to me. My friend did not enjoy it either (we shared)... but, we both enjoyed the burger that we shared. It was very good. The fries were delish. I think the float that I got was the Key Lime Pie Float. Wow!
