Whenever I'm asked what my favorite cigar is to smoke, I simply reply "the one I like." The same goes for Five Guys and every other burger joint in Tracy. Your favorite burger is, the one you like. I first tried a Five Guys Burger in Beavercreek Ohio a few years ago when I was back home visiting my kin folk. Now, maybe it's because they didn't have a Five Guys in California yet or maybe it's that hole first impression cliche but, I thought the burgers and fries at Five Guys were out of sight. So when I learned a Five Guys was opening up in Tracy, I was a little stoked to say the least. Just a week after their grand opening, me and my boys visited Five Guys after I picked them up from school. We arrived a little after 3pm and had no problem finding a parking spot and we stood in line behind only one person. Waiting for our orders, I did my usual snooping around and picture taking. Being a new place, I don't think anyone would expect or suspect this place would be in any other shape except, clean and sparkling of brand new. I did notice during our 10 minute wait that several tables around us were left dirty and during that 10 minutes, none of the staff bused. After grabbing our orders and taking them home, the boys and I rolled up our sleeves and got ready to chow down. When all was said and done, I asked my boys what they thought of their burgers. I think their opinion(s) echoed mine. There's nothing like your first time... Meaning that our Five Guys burger we had back in the IO seemed to be better. There is a new burger joint in town, and it might be a contender for my favorite. They really like to feed you at Dive Guys. A single serving of fries easily feeds two. All the burgers are double parties, and you can load them up with all the free toppings you want (including grilled mushrooms and jalapeños!). My burger was delicious, if a tad dry. The fries were really good, but I wish they had been a bit crisper. There are also free peanuts. Just my meal was too much for me. I had to ditch 1/2 my fries, which made me sad. Everything is made to order, so they are not fast. But they aren't slow enough to be annoying. They seem to offer a lot of value and even tell you what farm your potatoes came from (how very California). The closest compares on to other offerings out there is In and Out. In and Out has the edge in terms of prices and having a handy dandy drive thru. Five Guys has hot dogs on the menu and those aforementioned peanuts. In and Out has a cute young staff. Five Guys has an older (but probably just as wholesome) staff. Both are high quality. In the end, I guess it will just depend on your good that day. read more

Food here is just not passable. I've been to this location a few times, and it's essentially the same each time. The fact that it was hotter INSIDE the store than it was outside (considering it's June in Tracy) and we were considerably sweating while we waited to pick up our order was the first thing that was noticed. But once we got our food and got home (5 minutes away), it was just greasy to the touch on all the foil wrappers. Once wiped down and surgically opened up, this is what's inside: a soggy, slimy, sloppy, dripping mess. I almost couldn't even eat it, but I was hungry and am not wasteful. Fries are floppy and over-salted as well. Huge thing to consider though is their prices. 2 burgers, a (also soggy) grilled cheese for my kid, 3 fries and a couple milkshakes came out to be like $70 or $80 somehow... who the hell charges nearly $8 for fries alone? Absurd. My fiancé ordered it so if I would've known ahead of time it was THAT much for slop burgers, I would'nt have gotten them. I simply cannot justify spending that much money for such poorly put together, hap-hazard food that's not even good for me anyways. Won't return. read more

This place is DISGUSTING!!! I have no idea how they are rated "BEST BURGER" or "THE WILLY WONKA OF BURGER CRAFT"...that is all a crock of shit! The color reminded me of IN-N-OUT the menu so simple, fresh beef, potatoes...but this does not compare to IN-N-OUT! I ordered a regular cheeseburger, my daughter a mini cheeseburger, my fiance a bacon cheeseburger and regular cajun fries. We added the regular fixing what have you, mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, the total came out to $28.00. The space between the tables and chairs were so cramped it was difficult to manuever around everyone. The tables and chairs were so dinky I was rocking back and forth! My cheeseburger: I opened up the wrapper and thought wow, this is so sloppy. The bun was falling apart! I was so sad that it wasn't toasted! They weren't even slammed to have put my burger together like that. The meat looked suspect...as if the cook was beating the crap out of it while still cooking on the flat top. It had a lot of cheese which I did not like since it overpowered the rest of the burger. The burger was not seasoned...at all. I had to take my burger apart to season each layer....geez! Even then the burger was not good! By far the worse burger I've ever had. Cajun Fries: I could tell the potatoes were cooked fresh because it was not crispy at all, soggy and dry if you know what I mean. Similar to in-n-out fries (which I never order because it sucks). It sounded good but it did not have a Cajun taste to it at all. I am very dissapointed in this place. Sad to say, I would have prefered ordering from McDonald's. It's really more like 3.5 stars than 4, but since I can't choose that I rounded up. The reason it's not higher? I really do love the food here, but there are a couple of major caveats to it that keep me from giving it a 5-star rating. First of all, they are a bit on the pricey side for a burger joint. It's typically around $8 for the burger alone and then by the time you've gotten fries and a shake you're already close to $25 once taxes are put into the picture. That's pretty typical for a more "sit-down" type restaurant, but with a place like this, I can see people quickly getting shocked by the prices. Maybe I'm being a bit cheap here, but it genuinely does feel too expensive for this type of place. Second, their service speed seems inconsistent. On one occasion they only had 2 people working the entire kitchen, so after like 10 minutes of waiting at the register and being repeatedly promised help with no follow-through, I ended up walking out, disappointed. Even at other times when I ended up getting my order successfully taken in a timely manner, I felt like my wait time for the food took quite a bit longer (like 5-10 minutes) than what it should have given how busy things were. I know they sometimes get backed up with online orders and stuff like that, but why they don't temporarily bring in an extra person or two to help keep things rolling on the busier days is beyond me. Are they really that constrained with allotted worker hours or is it something else? Either way, that's a major pockmark here. All that being said, the food is consistently delicious. I usually get the little bacon burger (make sure to order the little burger instead of the regular unless you want two patties) and an Oreo pieces milkshake, occasionally getting fries or cajun fries (you HAVE to try them!). My mouth is watering a bit just typing this, and if the prices were a bit lower and service got more consistent I'd be more of a regular here. Let me start by saying I've never eaten at a five guys, and after tonight I never will again. The bacon cheeseburger with everything (minus pickles, substitute jalapeños. Fresh ones not pickled ones at that!) was squishy and flavorless. There was a lot of it, but it didn't do anything for me flavor wise. The kosher hot dog tasted like and had the texture of old baloney. I couldn't eat it. The fries? Worst I've ever had! Mealy, cold, and squishy. They tasted just like REALLY bad frozen fries. Which I find upsetting because the had bags of potatoes stacked all over the dining area. They must have been prop bags full of rocks or something. I don't think a freshly cut and fried potato could EVER taste that bad. Why 2 stars? *The soda machines are super cool. *the employees were really nice. My experience was a 5 STAR because of the GM Mimi who told me I couldn't get my burger at the temperature of medium rare. That all burgers are cooked well done but guaranteed that it would be juicy. So, here it is; I did not like the burger at all. It had no flavor even with the grilled onions and A1 sauce. It tasted flavorless. The cheese didn't taste like cheese either. This place has been here for a long time now but I've never gotten around to stop by. I've been to another location in Dublin and thought the food was pretty good so why not here. I ordered a single patty hamburger called little burger, with everything on it. Everything means grilled onions, mushrooms, mayo, mustard, catchup, relish, tomato, and pickles. I don't like mayo so I minused that. The burger was pretty decent, I had to add a little more sauce cause the patty was dry. I didn't order any fries this time cause I thought they had sweet potato fries! They don't.. :( over all I was satisfied with my dinner, everyone else got protein style burgers - burgers without buns & they loved it. The customer service was meh. I get it, it was 9pm but I'm still a paying customer, please act like I'm a human being not just another mouth to feed. A nice how are you doing would have been nice. I would say just ok. I'm not a big burger person but these tasted pretty much like In and Out, and any other place that does made to order hamburgers. For me pickles make the burger, and there was a recall on pickles, so I couldn't get them on the burger. Not their fault at all and the employee was very apologetic. I ordered the little burger with bacon and I gotta tell you, it was the same size as my husbands regular size hamburger, so even though you order the small it is a good size! Forget all the poor reviews complaining about the food cost. The food here is worth the price. The beef patty has excellent flavor- key to a delicious burger. I love the concept of build your own unlimited topping burgers. Also, they know how to do a protein wrap that keeps the burger together, unlike some people... (looking at you In-N-Out). Cajun fries are really good and on the softer side, which is how I like them. Love the large selection of shake flavors. This is my go to spot for a big, tasty, juicy burger. read more

Horrible customer service. Had to wait 5 minutes up front while the workers repeated "two in line" a lay comes out as she's chewing food. What happened to this place? For the price of items I would like a clean friendly atmosphere. That is not what you get. I went in recently and the bathroom was disgusting, as well as no toliet paper. I was standing in line forever and then the lady in front of me said I would like to discuss something with you when you have time.
