Loved Five Guys until today's experience at Reed Ave location. Took 15mins to make our burgers, with five people on the clock, yet only one gal actually preparing the food. Barely any customers, yet extremely slow service. Over fried fries, burger missing the A-1 sauce...so many disappointments in one visit! I'm on a hunt for the perfect burger and, while I don't consider this it, it's definitely much better than the Classic Bacon Burger I had at Chili's last night for dinner. The food here is great. Burgers are fresh and the fries are one of a kind. The portions are insane. That's across all locations. What this West Sac location has that is unique, is an insanely welcoming and thoughtful team. I went here on a busy Saturday at lunchtime and not only was every employee I talked to incredibly welcoming, they made sure I was taken care of. After seeing multiple Youtube videos of people having food-gasms for Five Guys, I decided to check it out. The burgers are a little pricey-more expensive than In N Out. But with condiments in their burgers it definitely makes a better burger than In N Out. Let me just flat out say it: Its incredibly good. Staff was attentive, easy parking and a great meal before having to walk the entire Ikea nearby to find a mattress. One tip: Don't get the canjun fries. I came here because I was in town . I'm not from Sac so I wanted to try the milkshakes and burgers here ! I got up there automatically the cook asks what I want while he's on the grill ? You can't assume I've been here !!! So the cashier attended me I think his name was Thomas or something like that ! Let's start off by saying he was welcoming and gave me a tour of the menu . Automatically his behavior changed towards me . I think if your going to be cashier greeting customers you should CARE about you hygiene! He had dried up saliva around his lips !! Not cool ! Also he had no hair net considering he had long hair . So I ordered the bacon burger then a lil cheeseburger fries and a milk shake . It took about 20 minutes for me to get that . I get everything but not my shake so I wait an extra 10 minutes!!! The guy cooking the burgers was in a rush . Mind you theirs 3 of them there . He starts messing up burgers and you can hear the Thomas dude telling him stuff I hear the cook "if I fuck up it's cool if you tell me " anyways that's not okay . So my bf eats the burger we find a blonde hair in half way through !! I go back because I'm already pist off that they take forever ! My sweetie had the regular cheeseburger with mushrooms, onions, relish, mayo, and light A1- While I had the little cheeseburger with mustard, pickle, raw onion, and light A1. We shared a small fry and drink as well. The burgers were perfect!! So juicy and the perfect amount of toppings!! The gentleman working behind the counter sure does know how to build a burger. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. These guys even had fresh ice cold bottles of water at the counter. The place was clean, the workers were awesome and had great attitudes. I have been here more than once and every visit has been good. This visit I had the "Little Bacon Cheeseburger" ("Little" means one meat patty on your burger instead of two) along with the smallest size of cajun fries you can order. Their smallest size of fries is a very generous portion compared to other places (If I go to a place like McDonalds then I usually get their largest size of fries lol). Ordering was simple, cashier was very helpful and food didn't take long to come out even with the lunch crowd. Its very nice that we have so many options when customizing burgers. I stopped at Five Guys in West Sacto after a trip to Ikea before driving home to Reno. The man in charge, I don't know his name, a large, young black man, was very friendly and dropped two patties for me when I raised two fingers. He managed the staff very well, they were ALL working hard at customer service and keeping the joint clean. He prepared my meal to order and shared his vibrant personality with me after I gave him the thumbs-up. I've eaten at Five Guys in DC, SoCal, NorCal, Washington state and here at home in Nevada. Stopped in for the bacon cheeseburger with everything / hamburger / regular fries / strawberry milkshake. The fries were hot, crispy and not salty. The burgers were cooked perfectly and meat very flavorful. Shake was tasty and filling. Absolutely delicious! We were lucky and arrived at the counter within 5 minutes. There's only 1 person taking orders and payment, so don't be in a hurry since we watched the line nearly out the door. Thumbs up on 5 Guys in West Sacramento! I have eaten at the 5 Guys eatery in Elk Grove and Natomas and would rate them at 1 star. I can't understand why it would be different, but these two places don't season their meat and it tasted worthless. I am happy 5 Guys moved into West Sacramento for their pure choice of more restrauants. The prices are a good for what you get large or small, the fries have a different cut and a choice of two seasonings. They have an eating area inside and out and are close to the Walmart/ Ikea shopping centers. Also free peanuts! I went here because I heard good thing about their fries. The fries were bitter and overcooked in very used oil. The fries were the least offensive part of my visit. Firstly the refused to take my company credit card because it did not have my name on it. It had my firms name on it (duh). The manager backed up the cashier on this decision and basically made me look like a bit of a tool in front of a client. Not good customer service at all. The food was mediocre at best. The food took quite a while to come out, even for made to order burgers on a not very busy afternoon. The burger was not bad except for the bun which was unacceptably soggy. The fries were as described above. They had a taste to them of over used oil, very bitter and harsh. Overall it was not a good value for the money it cost around $30 for 2 burgers, fries, and drinks. So just left Five Guys extremely happy. When walking in it was super packed about 5 people waiting for their food and 4 people ahead of me. A bunch of people eating. My first time here so I was looking at the menu and there was two people at the register and they both did an amazing job taking orders! They were super fast and I didn't even get to finish looking at the menu while I was waiting in line. Which is fine I was happy how fast they ran the counter. I didn't want a drink but Nathan said are you sure you don't want a soda or milk shake and I said no thanks and he asked me if I'd like a water while I wait. I got food poisoning from this location. Yeah, gross... I love a good burger and this place was recommended and close to home, so we tried it. It was okay the first few times, but I quickly noticed how grossly wet and goo-ee the burgers could be. The customer service was always slow but pleasant, and the food was supposed to be fresh, that is an okay trade of for me. But last time I went I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and Cajun fries, and had awful food poisoning the next day. Coco and I love coming here to get our Five Guys fix on! Any place that lets you have free condiments is above and beyond gracious. I especially love being able to add on jalepenos bbq and hot sauce to make a notoriously messy and spicy burger to enjoy every time. She likes to be more conservative and play it safer with a cheeseburger with no pickles and onions. Though once I pulled a prank and put my pickles in their just for fun. I also love that they have peanuts for the patrons to enjoy while they wait for their food. Cajun fries are delish but you can also have regular fries too. Five Guys, in their ever widening foray into the Sacramento market, is trying to go head to head with In N Out and it's not looking good. I've been to this INO location more times than I care to mention and I've been to the 5G's twice. The only things Five Guys has going for it over In N Out is burger size and topping selection. Other than that, the ways in which Five Guys falls on it's face compared to In N Out are numerous: 1. Product quality: Both INO and 5G's use only fresh ingredients and all orders are purely made to order, but a 5G's burger comes as a foil enshrouded ball of mess, whereas an INO burger comes face up, well put together and smiling at you as if it can't wait to be eaten. 2. Speed of Service: Despite both locations preparing their fresh ingredients made to order every single time, 5G's takes FOREVER to make your order. Granted, INO has been perfecting the art of fast food without compromising quality for over 60 years, but c'mon 5G's, pick up the pace a little! Which brings me to... 3. Employees: Compared to INO, the 5G's employees seem uninterested, lackluster, and, well, just slow. Even when there's a huge line at INO the employee at the register greets me with a smile and never rushes my (admittedly complex) order. And the biggest gripe of all... 4. PRICE: Seriously, How come I can get a made-just-for-me 3x2 burger with fries and a drink at INO for less than 6 bucks when a comparable combination at 5G's is nearly 9??? I can get a decent entree at a restaurant with table service for 9 freakin' dollars! In summation: If you want a big, ugly burger prepared by employees who couldn't care less that you're there and you've got all the time in the world then opt for Five guys over In N Out. read more
