My wife loves fried chicken, it's a little bit cheaper than KFC. We've been coming here for over a year maybe once a month or so. Our usual fare is a box of dark meat, pieces of 8 for just under $18. Always good in the past, except for this time it was so bad. How bad? We will never come here or any other Krispy Krunchy again. It's just not worth making the drive home, then expecting to sit down to a enjoyably tasty meal after we take care of feeding our dogs and then end up getting sick over it. Not the nauseous throw up kind. The oil irritated my wife's throat and caused her to get a scratchy throat the next day and made her sick. As soon as I got one bite in, I realized a fishy smell, the breading was hard, fused to the meat and the meat itself was dried out. Now mind you, this is dark meat which is supposed to be way tenderer and juicier than white meat. My wife used to work at KFC years ago and she knew that one of the issues was it was cooked in old oil. The other issue was this was old chicken (cooked days prior) that has been sitting under the warming lamps for way too long. We love to support the private and small business operators but we expect to get what a professional food business advertises, good food and won't get us sick from their negligence in straying from their Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). That means knowing when to dump the old oil and use fresh oil. The other is to throw out meat when it's no longer suitable for human consumption. For us, it's KFC here from now on. I've never been so disappointed from getting food from a gas station. This is from a person who loves the hot dogs at 7-11. I have also bought many times home cooked Tacos and Tamales from a gas station and never have been disappointed in all my years of driving 40+ years into a gas station. I love krispy, krunchy chicken! I can't even get fast food chicken anymore because this one is so good. I know it's located in a few different gas stations and you have to look for the signs but it's definitely worth it to look it up! Obviously it's not a sit down restaurant type location but if you just want something quick to get in and out then this is worth it because the taste is so good! The biscuit that comes with it is also amazing, and I can't even compare it to anything else it's one of my favorites! Here is my two cents on the taste, quantity quality of the food. I had it delivered by Uber eats and it arrived in a timely matter with also the chicken still being very hot . This place claims to be Cajun fried chicken place ... wrong wrong wrong wrong they lie... I will say the chicken fried is very good crispy on the outside moist on the inside, but it's fried chicken. You would find the way I grew up in the Midwest very white with a very, not spicy whatever taste. .. So unless you're having a major craving for red beans and rice, no somewhere else.. Cajun dish jambalaya. I don't know what this is, but it surely was not jambalaya. This has to be the very worse I have ever taste in my life. .. My seven year old nephew would have made a better jambalaya cooking a box that you can get off the shelf ... jambalaya supposed to be spicy you might as well be eating the taste of a marshmallow just plain white horrible... plus on top of it which I understand they used leftover fried chicken for the ingredients they give you a lot of chicken, but it's not cooked properly.. I have been a lazy to make my own jambalaya in which I use leftover spicy Kentucky fried chicken... They use their leftover fried chicken but their chicken here is just plain white bread type avoided at all cost especially when they are charging you five dollars for a small container. Definitely some of my favorite fried chicken! Always crispy and crunchy with that level of spice and kick to it. Only thing I don't like about this one verses other ones I've been to is that you have to come when they're made fresh for the best experience and you can never predict when a new batch with be out. You can never go wrong with their biscuits either. I believed it's topped with honey, and they just melt in your mouth. This is the best fried chicken I've ever had, hands down. Don't let the fact that it's inside a gas station fool you, some of the BEST hidden gems are inside your local Chevron. I was getting gas in Sac and needed a snack, and let me tell you the smell of the chicken alone was too enticing to pass up. I ordered a couple of drumsticks and breasts with some fries and biscuits. Everything came out piping hot and fresh, so hot in fact that I had to wait a minute or two before I could actually take a bite. When I finally could chow down, the flavor and crunch were immediate and amazing, just as fried chicken should be. To this day I can't find fried chicken better than Krispy Krunchy. Nothing I've tried has come close to the light but strong crunch and perfectly spiced chicken that they whip up here. Tears. This location isn't as good as the Antelope one. While they offer the same product, for some reason the chicken at this location isn't as flavorful? I had asked for the spicy or Cajun whatever and when I got home to grub, it didn't have that oomph flavor, like the Antelope location does. In the last few times I've ordered "spicy/Cajun" at the Antelope location, it was spicy - just the way I love it! Also, the pieces of meat (thighs and drums) seem smaller at this West Sac location. Heard so many great things about this place, so I'm sad (and hesitant) to give it 3 stars :( I came knowing it would be in a gas station, but for those that don't--it's located in a gas station near the cash register. It can be kind of sketch, but hey.. anything for good food, right? Oh, and lots of parking outside. We ordered 4 pieces of chicken for the two of us, which came with a biscuit. We ordered an extra one (for less than a dollar). This came out to be ~$7. We wanted sides, but they were completely out.. what a bummer! They had a bit of fries left (less than a portion), so they gave us that for free. Yay! So the food that we did get was pretty good. Exceeded my expectations for gas station food for sure. Many people do not know about this fast food location, hence the low amount of reviews. Nothing to really add except, crispy, juicy, chicken that will have you coming back. Food is okay but do not door dash them. They sent the wrong items, told me to come in the next day to get replacements for the SEVEN/7 items they did not send me. Went in the next day and all they gave me was 6 tenders and 6 biscuits. I have seen Krispy Krunchy Chicken at a handful of gas stations recently and decided to take the plunge after a long trip from the Bay Area and a belly and car in need of refueling. Located inside the 76 station and in its own little corner it is no different than any other chain located inside a service station that i have seen (Subway, Jack in the Box). They offer a full line of chicken goodness and i ordered the 4 piece Chicken Tenders with their Honey Biscuit. The chicken was tender and massive and very crispy with just a little bit of spice. The biscuit was almost cake like and was tasty but not really a biscuit. The strips were as good as anything that i have had at Popeye's and i mean that as a compliment. I ordered this via Door Dash. It was suprisingly yummy. I am not surprised. In the south the best chicken is at a gas station like this. I had fried chicken and fried shrimp. Both were fried nice with a thin crunchy crust and great cajun spices in the batter. Potato wedges were good as well. They have a sticky honey biscuit similar to churches but more home made.
