Five stars! Food: Decent food including Maryland blue crabs. Barbecue chicken, fried fish. But also lots of greasy spoon fried stuff and general tso chicken etc. Not truly authentic Chinese, but fun and decent American Chinese food. Three stars. Price: very good for what is offered. For a Sunday dinner at 14.99 per person, there were crabs, shrimp, crawfish, grill and 6-8 type of sushi. Five star price! This place is pretty good. It has your typical assortment of fried foods as well as some great things like sushi and oysters. Very cost-friendly. There is plenty of space to sit and the staff are always doing rounds to make sure that food trays are never empty. Food was amazing, would recommend for all people of any kind. The host and hostesses were kind and warm hearted and when they were busy they tried there hardest to get my table. The waiters were fast, they got my drinks in a heart-beat. They played amazing music that mixed Asian music and American music. Ever since i was a little boy I've always loved buffets. Who doesn't love the opportunity to stuff yourself to your heart's content. When i heard about the flaming grill in malden I was delighted since i regularly went to it's sister branch in revere. The service there is amazing! The waiters and hosts are all friendly and really listen to their customers. The food was great and it was all reasonably priced . Personally I'm a fan of the sushi and hibachi; the hibachi is made right in front of you and is cooked the way you like it. When i don't have time to sit down and dine, I get the to-go box. The to-go box is a steal for the price; sushi to-go for about 8 bucks a pound is great. The food is fresh and the bathrooms are clean. My family and I came for lunch today to check out new Flaming Grill & Buffet. It was worth the drive from Quincy. We went in thinking there will be a long wait but was given a table immediately. We came here to celebrate a middle school graduation. Its a great bang for your buck. Not as many asian choices as i would like but i did hone in on what i loved. Awful customer service!! I was walking into this restaurant in Saturday 3/9 holding my 10 months daughter in my arm. And there we go, there's shit on the floor no one pay attention and I stepped right on it and we both fell. Thank God my child did not physically lended on the floor. But I end up falling behind and my wrist and my back is hurting me alot. No one at the restaurant came to me asking if I'm alright,or pick me up or offering me to sit down! The person that were supposed to walk me to the table disappeared. I even have to yell at them to get me a chair. This shit place with China people working has no courtesy, rude and not even care!!! But it has been nine days now and I still have not had a response, so I am posting my e-mail on Yelp as a warning. ***** It appears that you have a real problem with quality control. I have been to your restaurant twice, both times a little after 6 PM (the hight of the dinning hour so that all of the food should be fresh). The first was last Sunday when I came in to get sushi take out. I was presently surprised. The tuna and salmon sushi were not top quality but still very good. The baby octopus, while new to me, was a pleasant discovery, in particular since it had the same taste and consistency of the large tentacles. The presence of seaweed salad was also welcome and a perfect complement to the sushi. The maki, notwithstanding sometimes low-cost filler, was also delicious. All of my food was well prepared. In summary, a good value for the price you charge. Buoyed by the above, I came back last night (Saturday) for a complete meal in house. Regretfully, I found a night and day difference in the food. The baby octopus was overcooked to the point that it was like shoe leather and now to the degree that it was tiresome to chew it long enough to the point that it could be swallowed, The seafood salad had been cut with lettuce (?) and other stuff, including whole slices of pepper as extenders which ruined the dish. Even if you took the time to remove the peppers, the taste remained. Most disappointing of all was the tuna. I have been eating sushi for over fifty years, starting in NYC several years before the first sushi restaurant opened in Boston. Yours was the worst tuna that I have ever had. That includes during a Boston to New York ride on a low cost, Chinese run, bus line that made a pit stop at a gas station that had a cafeteria annex where you could get sushi at 50 cents each! I had never had tuna before that had tendons or muscles running though it that were so strong that you could not bite or even tear the fish apart with your teeth. Instead, you had to cut it with a knife, and even then it was like trying to cut through plastic. As to the remainder of your menu, some -- like the baby clams and crabmeat on the half shell -- were served hot and very good while others -- like the baked stuffed shrimp and cheese stuffed crabmeat on the half shelf --were served cold, the "crabmeat" 95% coarse bread crumbs, and both in such condition as to give rise to the suspicion that they were leftovers from the prior night's dinner service if not the night before that. I don't believe that I am being overly critical or holding your operation to a higher standard than I should, I have been eating at all-you-can-eat restaurants for decades, and it is from that experience that I have made or measured my comments, The only saving grace to last night's experience was that I had invited a friend to join me in my then "wonderful new find", but he declined to join me as he had just finished an early supper. So at least I was saved from being personally embarrassed by the situation. Look, this is not a five-star restaurant in the traditional sense. The food is about average buffet food, though the variety is really good. There's basically nothing that they serve that you can't get a better version of anywhere else. However, it is very cheap for what it is, the food is constantly replenished, and the sushi is passable. They even served shellfish (oysters, mussels, clams, crayfish) and fish (salmon, flounder) when I was there for dinner. So in all, this place is a very good deal, and I've had meals at sit down restaurants that were of worse quality. I've been waiting for a quality buffet to come to Malden! Once I saw that familiar Flaming Grill sign go up I was counting down the days until it's opening. Needless to say I was impressed! It's so clean for a buffet! The hibachi is excellent and convenient! I wish there was more of a variety for the salad bar, as there's not much to it. I came on July 4th with some friends. We got there right when it opened so everything was fresh. I like the Hibachi Grill so headed there first. I like this location very much so won't have to go to Revere. There is something for everyone. Looking forward to going back. The staff there is very nice. Revere location is great too. read more
