We were headed to Oak Lawn so we thought we'd give Flapjacks a try. We heard about the possibility of a long wait, but our timing was good, late on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately. Food was excellent, as was the service. Why wait at one of those places with all the buzz? The breakfast here in my opinion is just ok, it could be a lot better. I've tasted their skillets and their omelettes and they needed more seasoning. The pancakes are thin and like grainy(they don't taste nice and buttery like at other restaurants). I think Corner Bakery has way better pancakes. I've tasted the soup too, it's ok, it needed more seasoning in my opinion. Ate here yesterday, was in town for a wedding. We went to the Hilton restaurant for breakfast, looked at the buffet and decided check Yelp for something better. Flap Jacks is one block away so walked over. Typical pancake house. The service was quick, the hostess was so efficient she was almost a high production robot. Flap jacks used to be our go to place in the neighborhood, breakfast with the girls, lunch with my husband, etc. but since they moved, much more expensive and not so great on the hostest end either.The manager/hostess by the name of Mary has a bad attitude. Just spent $25 of my hard earned money to go out and enjoy my breakfast with my husband. Mary sat us in the back room with a party of at least 30 people or more. Very, very loud. When I brought this to her attention, she gave me nothing but attitude. I will never go there again. I will also tell everyone I know not to go there. A nice alternative is The Breakfast Club on 111th & Pulaski, great breakfast, awesome wait staff and they give out free soup when you leave. read more

We went to this restaurant after poor service down the street. I am glad we did. The restaurant was very clean and the service and food were good. Prices in my opinion were a little high. This was my first time coming to Flap Jacks (Sunday, May 7th, 2017). I walked in and was greeting almost immediately. Although my entire party was not there, my daughter and I were seated within 5 minutes. Which is great when the child is 2 years old and does not want to sit still! Their waiting area is THE BEST! Most breakfast restaurants do not have adequate space for customers so this was a pleasant surprise! The tables are nice and big, the servers are fast and friendly, the coffee is fantastic, the food is superb! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Will definitely be coming back! First time eating here for breakfast and my husband and I really enjoyed our meal! We ordered the mediterranean skillet and the egg classics & prime combo with coffee....both meals were absolutely DELICIOUS! The coffee was really good and fresh. The fast, attentive service we received from our waitress Laura was exceptional! The atmosphere is relaxing & casual. The prices were reasonable, our bill total was $25. The only negative was we were seated in a booth close to the entrance and it got quite cold with the front door opening and closing. It was also a very busy area to sit with the register being so close to us. We'll request to be seated in the rear of the restaurant next time we return and look forward to returning for lunch! Very disappointed with my experience. Never been to a restaurant where you couldn't upgrade or substitute an item for a small fee. I ordered an omelet, & pancakes come with it. I asked my waiter if I could upgrade to the potato pancakes & he said yes. But then a few minutes later, he returns & informs me that they don't upgrade & I would have to order a full order of potato pancakes if that's what I want. Well, not only would that have been too much for me to eat, but also, that would have been quite expensive. Asked to speak with the manager as I thought there must have been a communication problem. Nope, no upgrades. I have never been told I couldn't upgrade anywhere else! So we left & went down the street to The Original Pancake House. I had my omelet with an upgrade to my potato pancakes with NO problem! No more Flap-Jacks! You lost a customer & The Original Pancake House gained a new customer. What's the problem of an upgrade for a small fee if that's what the customer wants? read more

Very delicious breakfast spot conveniently located right off of 95th. My fiancé and I have eaten here now a handful of times and keep on going back. I'm not a waffle person but this establishment and only this establishment takes waffles to another level. They are fantastic. I've also ordered two eggs over medium that were perfectly cooked whereas many breakfast spots unfortunately never cook over medium correctly. Tell them crispy on the hash browns to make them even more delish. The coffee is tasty and they actually serve International Delight creamer. Yum! Oh and the ham? Yum, again! This was a second choice for us since Stacked had a very long wait time. The spot is low key and settled in a corner of a shopping center. Once you get in the restaurant it's a very big and open environment. Our waitress was nice and very attentive. Now the food...the food was so subpar that it became a snooze fest. I thought the food was good although coffee was very weak. I went in with my husband and 2 children. We had ordered 3 breakfasts and a bowl of soup. First off it's 5 for a bowl of soup and u don't even get a little piece of bread with it. Nor is bread offered at the restaurant. Our bill came to $60! We have never paid more then 45 for breakfast! Generally coffee is included and two weak coffees cost us almost $5! Food was good but breakfast is supposed to be the cheapest meal to go to! For 60 we could have gone for a nice lunch somewhere! Went here for mothers day with a group of 5, all of us ordered but for some reason when our food came, the waitress told us that she wrote my order on the back of the receipt so the cooks did not see it. She apologized and said she told then to rush the order. 45 mins go by and still no food and the rest of the table is now done. When she came by and apologized i just asked if i could get it in a to go box. She then brought my food and the bill, but no compensation on the bill for waiting the entire meal with no food and after talking to the manger, all she did was take 10% off the bill which was nothing. The service is poor. Female manager here is rude. I checked in and she tells me to "just go sit down over there" and waves me off. Even my kids noticed. Waitress seems rushed. Waffle coming apart and sticky ? Strawberries were dried out and looked filthy. The rude manager comes to the table because i mentioned how dirty my strawberries look and she pleasantly asks can she replace my strawberries....umh not after I've eaten. How do you replace strawberries when the waffle they came with is gone. I have been a devoted customer for 10 years. The atmosphere is nothing like it was on 111th. The food is downgraded and so is the service. I was shocked to hear the same owners were in place....i posted my dirty strawberry in whip cream photo. I ask the same manager to credit the price difference between classic waffles and strawberry whip cream and shevsays "i offered to replace them!" She goes away to get it approved with no communication and returns with a credit. She never acknowledges me, or explains the credit. She hands the updated bill to the cashier and walks away. My brother, his girlfriend, and I went to Flap-Jacks for a Saturday afternoon brunch. I wasn't feeling breakfast so I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a cup of soup and fruit, my brother and his girlfriend ordered breakfast. We were seated right away and loved the fact that the restaurant was not completely smashed together and crowded like a lot of local breakfast restaurants. Our waitress Mary was great. She was very friendly, personable, and even had asked me if I'd like additional seasonings for my sandwich. The cup of soup came quickly and the food came even quicker! Before I was completely finished with the soup the food had arrived, it was hot and you could tell it was just prepared. Everything was delicious, and they weren't in any rush to get us out the door like it feels sometimes and some restaurants. We've found our new breakfast place. read more

Best waffles EVER! Even though it was a busy Sunday we had good service and food was great!

Decided to give this place a try while waiting for car repairs since it was within walking distance. Omelet & pancakes were decent but definitely an F- for service. I opted for fruit instead of hash browns or grits since I already had carbs in the pancakes. I got nothing but time to waste since my car is not ready so I'm responding to emails, texting, taking my time eating my meal. I start on my fruit & to my disgust pull a blond hair out my mouth. I get the servers attention & bring the hair to her attention & she responds with she doesn't have blond hair & the staff in kitchen wears hats. I asked so what does that mean??? Server responds saying I have blond hair. I'm shocked & appalled! I said my blond highlights are no where close to the blond of this hair nor the texture. I immediately ask for mgr. I explain to manager the hair & the servers response in insinuating I pulled the hair from my own head to get a $13 meal for free. Manager apologizes gives me a 20% coupon for my next visit, offers me fruit to go & proceed to explain the server should have come get her first & not said anything in addition to explain that the air in the bldg blows things around & that's likely how the hair found its place in my meal. No thank you! Then proceeds to reprimand server in front of my booth & server responding she couldn't find the mgr & they proceed to argue back & forth. Again in front of my booth! Most including myself consider me to be a pretty rational & reasonable individual but my gut instinct is telling me my response from server & manager would of have been different if my skin color was paler. Seeing that I've worked in client service for over 15 yrs this experience was totally unacceptable. If I could give no stars I would. I don't recommend nor will I ever go back to this establishment. read more
