We have been here before. We have liked the food and service before but tonight we had the worst waitress. Waitress B. Manager finally brought appetizer which wasn't hot. She took forever to take your dinner order. Then forever to enter the order. So it takes over an hour to get your food after you order. Then your order isn't right but of course she's nowhere to be found. And while you wait does she she come by and offer another drink? Does she refill your water? No. She leaves the check and then you have to go hunt her down. Did she take the plates when she left the check? No. And all her ketchup bottles were empty. After a morning presentation, we came here for lunch at the recommendation of UCO staff. $30 total for 2 bottles of beer, fried pickles with ranch dip (yes, you heard me right), chicken tacos, and their flatire famous fish tacos (huuuge amounts of fish). Everything was yummy but beware that the tacos are enormous... I ate 2 out of the 3 I got and am still stuffed three hours later. Note: If you think you look young enough to pass as a college student, make sure to ask them about their student specials (which applied to the burger and cheeseburgers today). I have this weird relationship with Flatire. If you don't know me, then you don't know that I have been at UCO as a student and now full time employee since 2006. I've been an Edmond resident since then. I have eaten too many Flatire burgers to count on one or two or even three hands. It's always been there, available for a Broncho (which is the large beer tower you can order) or an order sweet potato fries whenever I've needed it. The source of my love/hate relationship with Flatire is how it's evolved over the years. When I was a freshman in college, the big deal was that (with your student ID) you could get a burger, fries, and a coke for only $5. That was such a good price, we went there at least once every 2 weeks, everyone getting burgers and fries and then splitting the s'mores platter (the first place I'd ever seen offer tableside s'mores). It was a favorite of our then-president, W. Roger Webb, and sometimes you'd catch a glimpse and call him ove, and he'd greet tables of students like old friends. Then, things started to change. The student special started to increase in price. The menu expanded to salads and tacos and chips and queso. And we still went - on Friday afternoons with friends and left satisfied. Decorations started popping up so it didn't so much look like the little burger dive across the street from campus but maybe a place that could turn into a franchise. Then, they moved Flatire on campus into the food court, where the prices increased even more. (although, here's a tip. If you're ever on campus early, they have the BEST and CHEAPEST biscuits and gravy around. I'm talking like huge portion, $3 cheap) We started calling it Flatire $10 Burgers because that's around the amount you were going to spend on a burger and fries. Don't get me wrong, I still eat there. The burgers are... fine...they aren't as fresh as I would like them to be, and the atmosphere is great. I've had some of the salads, and one I liked in particular isn't on the menu any longer. It was like a crispy buffalo chicken salad. I really miss it. I always get a flood of memories when I eat there. It takes me back to 2007 when a group of friends from college (that I still have) finished our performance of Freshman Follies and all ate and took pictures and posted it to this cool new website called Facebook. I still get those feelings when I'm there, I just wish the prices were the same as they were back then. And bring back the student special! read more

Never had a sandwich or burger here. The first time we went in, I was craving chicken tenders. Now I'm spoiled! Their tenders are huge and so well done. The batter is crunchy and the chicken juicy, not over done! There is so much food, I've taken leftovers home every time. They also have tater tots, which I love. Even though I've never had anything else but the tenders, my daughter has. She had a turkey sandwich once, and a burger another time. She claimed they were both very good. I'm almost never in Edmond, but when I am, I try to have a burger at Flatire. It's a neat little restaurant with a decent beer selection and some really tasty burgers. I've been a couple of times now and have had different burgers on each visit. On my last visit, I had their Hickory BBQ burger and I was quite impressed with not only its taste, but its consistency. I expected the burger to be a little soggy, considering it was going to have BBQ sauce on it, but to my surprise...the bread held up to the BBQ sauce quite nicely. My burger never turned into a pile of soft bread, BBQ sauce, and meat. I also recommend trying some of their classic burgers that include Flatire's special sauce. The only comparison I can make to their sauce is the sauce used by In-N-Out burger. It's not as good as In-N-Out, but it's damn good, nonetheless. Flatire has a nice patio, where one can enjoy a beer and a burger. (I actually recommend eating on the patio, weather permitting.) The service has always been extremely nice and the prices are fair. I paid around $11 for a burger and fries. I'm a fan of this place and think it's definitely worth a visit. read more

Let me just say, even without the fun name, giving all sorts of opportunity for inappropriate commentary, "The Butcher's Wife" is absolutely amazing for those of us who like a big, meaty, flavorful burger. SNAP! That's one tasty custom burger. Choose your bun, patty(fish,chkn,vegi,beef), and cheese! My personal favorites are the blowout and their classic #21 fish tacos! Come here with an empty stomach and an eye for people watching. Especially on their double decker patio! This artsy burger shack is located right off UCO's campus and is a fantastic place to break down. The only downer is they do not have a full service bar. Do not eat here! In recent weeks, this place has gone downhill fast! We ordered drinks, cheese fries appetizer, and chicken tenders. We are regulars here. After 15 min, no drinks. After tracking our waiter (too busy checking his phone), we signaled for him to check on our drinks. Our food & appetizer finally came (together!) and the cheese fries were cold. After getting this corrected the fries (same ones!) came back nice and microwave hot & chewy! Really???!!! They were kind enough to take this off the bill. Stopped in for the first time the past weekend. It is located just a few blocks east from downtown Edmond, right by the college. It is easy to drive by without noticing. The parking lot is tight. Inside is nothing fancy. Small place. Obviously fills a need for a restaurant a short walk from the campus. There are televisions on the walls for game days. Functional, not fancy. I had the "famous" fish tacos which are described as: "Boulevard Wheat battered tilapia, cabbage and chipotle tartar sauce with a splash of srirachi in flour tortillas with vegetarian black beans." That would be accurate. And they definitely have a kick to them with the sauce. It will probably clear your sinuses if you are congested. They were good. I ate both of them. My guest had a burger which they said was fine. No complaints. Service was fine. It was not busy as it was Sunday afternoon. Fine place to grab a quick bite to eat. The menu covers the basics of burgers, chicken, salads, tacos. Quite a few different topping combos available for the burgers. Cost for the two of us was under $25 including tip. read more

We used to LOVE this place. However, we recently had a lovely dinner there only to come out and find our cars had been ticketed by UCO for using the lot we HAVE ALWAYS USED! So, we will never be able to return as they lack adequate parking for the number of patrons. It is unfortunate that the University has chosen to penalize people for parking after hours in a lot that is not full but cold help a local business. read more

Went to Flatire on a Friday evening right before the dinner rush. Our server was polite and informative about the menu. The menu has just the right amount of choices that range from your standard burger to the oddly creative. I had the Mac & Cheese burger on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries. It was awesome! The fries were the best I have had. I will definitely go back and maybe even make a special trip since I don't live close. It also looks like they have an extensive beer selection available as well. It would be good for medium to large groups, but I would suggest calling ahead since the seating is laid out for mainly parties of 4. read more

Amazing service. So sad it has taken me this long to finally try them out. Had cheesy tots to start, and they were so fresh and great size. Had a burger with mushrooms, onions, and goat cheese on a GF bun. Best burger I have had in a long time, and a great combo. Lived the toasted, buttery bun. Husband had a burger on a generous bead of great, fresh lettuce. Had the watermelon limade drink, and it is dangerously good. Husband had the Santa Dr 7K IPA and that was very tasty too. Took a PB&B shake home for later, and it was a great combo of a shake. Will definitely be back again. I've been a regular here lately, and haven't been too disappointed... So I keep coming back. The last few times we've honestly come here just to sit outside and have a few drinks. However, one pet peeve of mine is that this restaurant has a great two-story outdoor patio. Over all the years that I've come here, I have never been on the second floor. They always close it off, which means you're either stuck on the first floor in total shade or it's full and you can't sit outside. So that's always a bummer to me. Food wise, every single burger I've ever had here is good. I have even done a "make your own" with a turkey patty, and it was REALLY good. I've had their chips, and the regular fries; I can't complain about either one! Fish tacos were good too, but my favorite thing about this place are the Smore's. Never had a bad experience here. The service is always fast and friendly. The atmosphere is always fun and energetic; its next to a college campus. It is great for families or students. There is a large patio that is great in the spring and fall. The only thing I have a hard time with is deciding what to get each visit. There are numerous different patty choices; beef, turkey, veggie. Then what type of fries... just so many delicious choices. The sweet potato fries are the best in town. I love the concept and the menu. Sometimes it's crazy busy, and other times, it's not so bad. But every time, it is yummy! The burgers with fried onions, and the fried pickles appetizer are our go-to orders. The staff is always friendly, too. It's across the street from UCO, so just know that there will be college students around. Most are nice, but some are still kids who don't get the way life works yet. It is what it is. This is my first visit. I ordered juicy Lucy. Husband got lucy's cousin. Kids both ordered mac and cheese burgers. Mine said it would be messy, but the egg was fried hard, so it wasn't too messy. I wanted this to be my new favorite buger joint,. I was in the mood for a delicious onion burger with extra cheese. I was hoping for a super juicey burger like tuckers. What I ended up with was a dry burger with a small glob of onions that seemed to be cooked separate from the burger. Normal cheese only half melted and a gallon of mustard. Took my wife's son here last week because he was in the mood for some cheese fries after seeing the newest Avengers. We arrived at roughly 8:30pm, and did not feel welcome by the wait staff who seemed to want to rush us out as soon as possible. I ordered a burger that was supposed to have melted cheese in the middle, but was greeted by a cold, uncooked center. Our waitress disappeared/was behind the bar for a period of time that didn't allow for the mistake to be rectified in a timely manner, and upon reappearing smelled like cigarette smoke. The cheese fries were pretty standard, and perhaps the only redeeming part of an otherwise miserable experience. I was in town for business a few weeks ago and really wanted beer and a burger. Stopped by Flatire after some colleagues recommended it. I'm usually not picky with my burgers. I don't want interesting topping combinations, new types of "gourmet burgers" or anything fancy. Just give me good quality ingredients, a solid patty, and I'm sold. I'll praise the cook who cooks a decent burger. Unfortunately, this was the worst burger I've ever eaten (outside of fast food of course). The meat was seasoned very strangely and did not taste very good. It was dry and overcooked (I asked for medium, go well done), the ingredients were not fresh (biggest offenders were the soggy tomatoes), and the bread was bland and tasteless. The fries were salted very aggressively and didn't taste any better when I traded for lightly salted fries. I'll note that I also tried my colleague's burgers and the result was the same. As someone who is a vegetarian, I am constantly trying to find places to eat that offer vegetarian options. My friend and I decided to try Flatire Burgers as I was really craving a "burger" and fries. We called ahead of time to see if they had a vegetarian option and were told that we could substitute any burger with a veggie patty. When we got there the service was fantastic. The restaurant was clean and quiet and the atmosphere was awesome. I got the Flatire burger with cheese and fries and substituted the burger with veggie patty. My friend got the green chile cheeseburger with the veggie patty. The burgers came out extremely hot and fresh. The veggie patty was delicious and you can have it grilled or fried. The bun was toasted and warm and soft, and the fries were delicious. The waitress was stellar. We will be back soon and I cant wait! read more
