I tend to think I know a thing or two about diners. Especially diners in NJ. Not a fan of this diner. I went here for lunch on a rainy, dreary day in the mood for a soup and sandwich. The chicken orzo soup was good. Basic, nothing fancy. Then, came the tuna sandwich. Worst tuna sandwich I ever tasted. It tasted "tinny" and not fresh. The cole slaw that came with closely resembled soup. How does a diner screw up cole slaw? The fries were the best art of the meal. Server was friendly and attentive as well, hence the 2 stars. I honestly believe that people never venture out far enough away from town to experience what food is SUPPOSED to taste like. This place is in the running for absolute worst diner that I have ever had the misfortune to find. The place was clean..I'll give them that. But the food is always bland, lukewarm and dried out. The wait staff is always too preoccupied talking and giggling amongst themselves. They would rather do that than attend to the customers. I've given this place five or six tries but it always ends in major disappointment. My advice would be to drive past this diner and give something else a try. Food is very good but beware when you do take out. They leave stuff out of your bag and by the time you get home, it's just not worth the trek to get what you're missing, such as side salads, breads, dressings, etc. check your bags thoroughly before you leave! I don't think it's done on purpose but it's also not fair to the customer to not get what you paid for. read more

I have to say, every time I go to flemington diner I always ask myself why I came again after promising I wouldn't. I miss the old management, it's definitely gone down hill. I went around 645 with my father, it was busy but there were plenty of open tables. We were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait for two. The restaurant wasn't full. Being 9 months pregnant with high blood pressure, we asked if we could be seated at an open table. The lady at the hostess desk - I'm assuming the owner stated "were backed up and there's a wait, the waitress won't get to you, you're going to have to wait a bit". I'm so pregnant I don't even have ankles at this point Still blows my mind there was a wait with open tables, they weren't short staffed. As soon as I mentioned leaving and going to Clinton Station Diner to my dad, we were seated. The food was subpar again today. My raviolis looked like a dish I could've made at home with marinara on top, no mozzarella cheese for $13 My dad had the Annandale burger and was pleased with it. read more

Always a good diner experience no matter whether it's lunch or breakfast or dessert. Staff has always been friendly and food comes quickly. My favorite lunch special is the portabella turkey burger, which comes with soup and fries. The split pea soup is my fave, and the fries are consistently amongst the best in town IMO. read more

The food is highly overpriced. $45 for breakfast for 2. $4 just for 10oz of not fresh Oj is just ridiculous. The food was terrible my med well steak was burnt to a crisp the scrambled eggs were gooey on the inside. The home fries were all very burnt. The toast had enough butter to kill a man. All in all everything was terrible and over priced. Told the cashier how bad it was and they said we should've told the waiter that dropped the food and didn't return till he brought the check. Not that we had time to wait another half hour for them to remake both meals with the hopes it would be better. All in all terrible experience and we will never return again. read more

Second time we've been since new owners. Wasn't great last time. This time -- Not good. I ordered a salad. I expected the chicken to be grilled or atleast fresh. It was a frozen chicken patty--and it was dry to boot. The walnuts on the salad were stale. The dressing came in a packet. The salad was $18. I will not be returning or recommending. We went Friday night before the dinner rush. We ordered brisket and a steak. Both were cold with cold baked potatoes and elementary cafeteria looking vegetables. We had two waiterss/waitresses (assuming one was in training). When we got our food that was the last time we saw our waiter for 20+ minutes. Had to eventually call them over for the check. Explained we never recieved a side order and the waitress just left and came back explaining the meals did not come with it even though we explicitly made it a separate side order. Service off wait staff and the manager at the time were rude and did not seem interested in our thoughts. I'm liking this new diner, close to home, clean and typical diner menu. The soups are not outrageously good, which disappoints if you like the traditional Jersey diner soups... barley, pea soup, lentil... but they are okay. The burgers were good, the chicken salad sandwich and corned beef... all good. Definitely diner food, don't go out on a limb for the fancier meals, that's just my 2 cents. The breakfasts were very good. We liked the Benedict Style eggs over the potato pancakes with the ham.... got that more than once. YUMMY. I hope that this place keeps up with the clientele. People around here have become spoiled by having some fine choices for food, both quick eats and finer meals... so if this place doesn't remain CLEAN and keep up with the staples, burgers, sandwiches, SOUPS, breakfast... could be problematic down the road! Went for brunch today, the dining room was full as it was the first time I darkened the doors of Flemington-Raritan Diner. Wife ordered eggs, hash browns, fruit cup and wheat toast. I had eggs, sausage, bacon and pancakes. Nothing here hard to fix yet the hash browns were missing some brown color (not cooked enough) and the wheat toast was cooked too much (burnt). As for the pancakes, light and fluffy they were not, they were heavy and doughy. Sausage and bacon, cooked to perfection. Paying was interesting. Walked up to the counter with my credit card and bill in my extended hand and the guy says "are you ready?" Really? What happened to How was your meal? or Hi, everything OK/how are you? Ps. To all the cheeseburger reviewers, I agree, not much taste in between that bun. read more

Why 3 stars- we eat here at least 3-4 times per month. Always dinner and never a disappointed meal. Most meals are better than expected. Tonight we arrived and had noticed some changes A new fancier menu, a new ice cream bar, and slightly higher prices for the same daily specials. We had a very nice waitress. So why 3 stars-- on dinner specials - no free dessert anymore, and no more salad and soup, just one or the other.. very disappointed.. and then the check arrived and for the 2 of us with tip - $51 We used to enjoy coming here for very good food and an all inclusive dinner and never spent more than $35-40 with tip. So now we are at $50. At that price they are now in a category with far more competitive restaurants . read more

My mom and I came here just when they opened their outside seating during COVID-19. We started with a basket of bread that included fresh bread, bread sticks, and seeded flatbread crackers. I ordered the Calamari and fra diablo sauce with pasta on the side. The calamari was lightly breaded, which I like. I really enjoyed having both foods together, and the sauce was great too. My mom had a ribeye steak, medium rare, cooked to perfection. She had sauteed green beans with garlic and onions, and candied butternut squash, which were both very tasty. Each meal included a salad on the side. I had a caesar salad with homemade croutons, and my mom had the Greek dressing, and her salad included peeled cucumbers, sliced radishes, and tomatoes. We topped it off with some of their delicious homemade ice cream. Our server, Lisa, was top-notch, and extremely professional. We had a wonderful dining experience, and plan to come back soon. read more

Always a consistent meal and the amount of food you get for the price is a great but. I never leave that place anything but stuffed and I'm usually taking something home. Never usually a wait for a table and if there is, they have you seated within 15 mins. Service is always great, good is delivered fast, but not too fast. Since this restaurant opened you have been able to split checks at the front desk. On a recent visit I went to the front desk and asked to split a check, and the lady at the desk proceeded to YELL at my group for not asking the waiter to split it sooner. I understand if there was a change in procedure, but there is absolutely no reason to yell at customers. I have never seen that staff member working before, so maybe it's an issue with new staff, but regardless, I hope the restaurant takes some kind of action in this. read more

I've been coming here roughly once a month for the past two years when visiting family in the area. Until recently, I always enjoyed it. Within the last month, they changed their entire menu. Some of my favorite menu options (chicken cordon bleu wrap) are no longer offered. They also increased the prices. The salads are an average of $15 which I think is way too expensive at a diner. I ordered banana pancakes as I was here for breakfast. They came out cold and had a hair baked into it. I'm not sure what happened to this place, but the quality went down a lot and yet the prices went up. I'll be going to another diner from now on....probably Spinning Wheel in Readington or the Clinton Station Diner. read more

Let me start by saying the place is decorated very nicely. Now for the food. It's a typical diner fare with typical diner menu. My wife and I both ordered the open faced roast beef sandwich with gravy. Figuring we're in a diner in New Jersey it should be safe. Well. No. The roast beef was luke warm at best. The gravy was not traditional brown beef gravy, but more of an orange colored gravy that was tomato based with a hint of cinnamon. When they came by to see how things were, we were both honest and told them that we were less than pleased. They immediately offered to replace our meals with something else and adjusted the bill accordingly. I stayed with the sandwich. Karri opted for a chili cheeseburger which she really enjoyed. Bottom line. The roast beef sandwich is not recommended (unless you don't mind a tomato based orange gravy with a hint of cinnamon). The service however, was top notch and they went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. They've earned a repeat visit next time we are in the area. read more

Rude host. We went there a total of 3 times in 1 month. The first time was ok. The 2nd time the host only wanted to do take out although the outdoor seating was set up. We left. Decided to give them one last chance to redeem themselves as we like the food on the first visit. There were some folks there eating. We had a party of 6. Last time they put 2 tables together for a party of 7 for us this time (we had a mixed group of Asian and Caucasian), they said we would have to sit a separate tables in groups of 3?! Really, you will separate a family of 6 because you can't put 2 tables together and there were at least 7 vacant tables. The host just shook his shoulders at me. I hate to bring race into it but maybe being Asian doesn't fit their demographic? Whatever we went to Clinton Station Diner. It was 10 minutes away. Advice to owner: businesses are struggling during COVID you should welcome EVERY customer because you will end up closed like many other places. Visited on July 9, 2018 with 35 people! We were in between games at Diamond Nation Ball Park. Wow !!! This diner is absolutely fantastic. All of our food was really good. We had everything from waffles, omelets, sandwiches, burgers, salmon and Greek platters. Everyone loved everything they ordered. Huge portions!! Everything was homemade. Our server was super efficient and really on the ball. The food was hot, fresh and fast. We didn't wait long at all for such a large group. It was very clean too!! We highly recommend. They've streamlined their menu a bit which is a good thing. But their salads are over priced. The average salad is $14 or $15.00 and is basically a chicken or salmon salad with variations on vegetables. The Greek salad is $13.99 and to add a protein is more expensive than the other salads. Simply horrible, best describes my dining experience on Monday - July 2, 2018. The service was painfully slow, and we had to chase down the staff to get requested items. I ordered cream chipped beef on toast, sausage links side dish, and coffee. The coffee which took forever to get because the waiter claimed he waited for "fresh brewed" was so strong that it barely changed color when half n half was added. A nasty, cheap, bitter, brew, best describes the cup of tragedy, which I sent back. There is a difference between stronger than I prefer, but flavorful, and what is being served here. The cream chipped beef was yellowish in color, lacking in both cream, and chipped beef. It was basically flour & water, with a minuscule amount of chipped beef, over burnt toast. At this point, I just suffered through the over cooked, mushy tasting, sausage links side dish, and actually enjoyed some of the home fried potatoes, but could not eat what I would truly categorize as S.O.S. I have always loved Jersey diners, and look forward to breakfast at one when I visit my home state from time to time. This place is a blight upon all the great Jersey diners, and the hardworking staff which makes them so good. Drive past this one folks! read more

I had breakfast here on Mother's Day. Coffee and food were great diner quality. I had the french toast and eggs. Serving size was more than enough for one, but not quite enough for two. My friend and I were unable to finish our plates, but left happy. Reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Classic dinner with a well mannered staff. Food is basic and good but a little to salty. Interesting pricing: they add a cup of soup on a wrap sandwich for a total of 9.99. So if you break it down the normal wrap should be around 7.50 so the cup of soup is 2.50? Rather steep for a cup of soup. Wraps and burgers came with a huge amount of fries, that's good. Dinner is nothing to write home about but it's also not a place to avoid. read more
