Aahhh...its lunchtime once again. Just sent off that email and need to get back quick to continue the work. With so many chain options in downtown, its great to go to a place like Flix. Its most convenient for those on the Eastside of the 110, but its just a short (a little scary) walk across the overpass. Flix is cafeteria style and has several counters to choose from, but don't fret my working friends, it isn't like the stuffy cafeteria downstairs in the building. It is modern, open, airy and has a great fresh salad bar. You can always get a filling burger and fries or a ceasar salad, but they also have different specials each day, which keeps some variety to your lunchtime fare. Check it out next time you're not feeling like Baja Fresh or KooKooRoo. FYI: the entrance is facing Beaudry and is below the studio's parking lot. read more

I've been thinking about how much I miss cafeteria-like atmospheres and food. The selection at Flix is small but decent. They carry lots of snacks and drinks which is awesome for me...I'm not that interested in the food (lunch fare...salad bars, soups, mac&cheese). The prices are fare. You can get soup for under $5. I like that there's a small selection...a wide variety usually makes me overeat and overwhelmed. It's right across from my internship. There's a lot of filming that goes on around the area so the cafe is located in an interesting location. Today there were vintage cars lining the street between the building and the cafe. read more

Decent spot for a quick lunch. Ingredients are quality compared to the cafeteria in my building run by Trimana. Every once in awhile I treat myself to freshness and walk a block down the street to Flix. It's cafeteria style food with indoor and outdoor patio seating. The grill is a never-fail choice. The best thing they have is their chicken tortilla soup, which they only serve like once a month. It's the best chix tortilla soup I've had, EVER!! No Joke. Today, I had a turkey, cheddar, apple wrap and it was quality!! Good stuff!! Since this cafeteria is in a Studio (actual movies are filmed in their lot), catered to movie peeps, expect to pay between $10-$12 for your lunch. read more

Flix Cafe is located at the LA Center Studios which is right across the street from my job at the LAUSD Beaudry Building. I've never been disappointed when I've come here for lunch. There is a variety of foods that include a beef counter (i.e. steak, ribs, etc), a grill which includes burgers, fries, tuna melts, etc, a salad bar, and a soup counter. Its a cafeteria style cafe, but it's exceptional cafeteria food. Today I tried out the "healthy tuna melt" and the "tortilla soup". It was all super yummy! The tuna melt had albacore, light mayo, and olive tapanade! The tortilla soup was filled with veggies...the only thing missing was corn. I sure am going to miss this place when I leave my job at the District. read more

Our offices are located here, and it's terribly convenient, of course. They have a menu that changes daily and gets sent to all of the tenants, which is cool. Their offerings are certainly inline with what Guckenheimer normally provides. The Guck handles a boatload of corporate America cafeterias, especially across Silicon Valley. Today, I enjoyed a hot salad that the counter guy made right in front of me, by grilling some zucchini, squash, bell peppers, tomato, broccolini, and something else, along with some pre-made chicken breast seasoned with paprika, salt, pepper and something else (I asked) and it was totally delish. There wasn't enough to keep me satiated past 3pm, but then again, I ate lunch at 11:30. They also serve both hot and cold breakfast, which in and of itself is a total winner. read more

Received lousy service the last time I came here. First of all, I only came here because I was meeting someone for lunch at this location. I didn't even get my food before it was time to go back to work. Prior to leaving, I tried to inquire how long it would take. I totally got ignored by the rude girl taking orders. You walk in and it is a hopping and happy atmosphere! I am now a regular! They know me by name, all the details of what I like to eat. The menu changes daily and there are always many available options, vegan vegetarian, pasta, pizza and a killer deli where they marinate and season the meats themselves as well as the toppings are endless! This place rocks! The manager and chef here seem to have kicked it up a notch the last few months! I love this place!! read more

Although not necessarily worth a trip from the financial district downtown (that schlep over the Harbor Fwy is brutal), this is an excellent option for those of you working in Central City West. Flix is the commissary for L.A. Center Studios, a rental movie lot on the site of the old Unocal HQ (Numbers, Mad Men and just about every car commercial ever made are shot here). It is quality comfort food served cafeteria style, with a changing menu and a nice atmosphere. Decent prices, too. But don't expect to see any celebrities here. The crowd is mostly the below the line crews taking lunch combined with the people from the LA Unified HQ next door escaping their own crummy cafeteria. read more

I work at the studio so I dine here often. Breakfast goes until about 10:30 AM and lunch goes until about two - 2:30 PM. The cafés is open until four for light snacks and Starbucks. There is also a website that you can look at for each day/week's menu. That way you can plan ahead. They always have specials, as well as their grill, salads, and sandwiches. They also have a great selection of drinks, Starbucks coffee, in which they have baristas to make specialty drinks, and even fro yo! The staff is incredible there. They are always so kind and helpful. Shout out to Anna, Hilda, and Heather! They always take care of you and remember what you like. They also have unbelievable catering. It's really beautifully presented and delicious. I wouldn't consider it a cafeteria or studio commissary as they are very affordable and have tons of healthy options. You can also order online and do pick up orders. For a place that I go to every day, I still don't get sick of it. I highly recommend this place. Bon appétit. read more

I eat here once a week (when I'm consulting down the street). The food & service are consistently fabulous. I usually go for the meat & veggies meal - flavorful, fresh & satisfying. I'm also a fan of the bowls - lots of veggies & whole grains. If I'm feeling decadent, then I go for the turkey burger & sweet potato fries. Oh, and they make their own potato chips. The aguas (fresh fruit drinks) are super refreshing. Chef James White runs a smooth & yummy operation. read more

Cafeteria style dining. Salad Bar - good 0.50 per oz. good variety Soups & Stews - ok. little on the bland side. No one in the kitchen knows what a stew is because they're always thin, like soup. What they call beef stew is really beef and vegetable soup. Cold Sandwiches - only premade, never fresh to order. Only on chiabatta or french roll. Not much variety either. Salad of the Day - a bit pricey. Better to just go to salad bar. Cafeteria style meals - casseroles/roasts/etc. Taste ok. nothing exceptional to write home about. Short Order - mostly ok, but never order a burger unless you like them small and well done. They won't cook it any other way. Boycott the burger. Curly fries are good. Cappuccino bar and Coffee - never tried it, but looks ok. Use Pete's brand. Overall, it's better than a school cafeteria, it's very clean and most everything is fresh. Nothing stands out that makes you really want to go out of your way to eat there. It gets a lot of traffic because it's the only halfway decent place to eat that's nearest to several business buildings. read more

I used to eat at Flix fairly frequently since it is close to my work but now I only go a few times a month. I think overdosed on it initially and then got burnt out. While everything is good there, there was very little that was great. I was getting a lot of salads but they were not as interesting nor filling as other salads you can get from other downtown eateries. On the plus side, they have a great variety of food and the menu rotates daily which is nice. I go online to checkout the menus before venturing out to Flix. read more

I have to be anonymous because I work on the lot but this is literally the WORST place on the planet. It is so convenient and sometimes working in production you don't have time to go anywhere but I hate it. I repeatedly go on strike and then give them a chance just to go back on strike. I have never gotten fully cooked chicken here. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I think it'll be ok its inedible. One time I made the grumpiest guy there cut open a piece of chicken to make sure it was ok, and he realized it wasn't, PUT IT BACK IN THE PAN TO BE SERVED, and grabbed me another one. I again, made him cut it. He realized it wasn't ok, PUT IT BACK, and he went into the back to grab one from a "different batch". It looked more well done on the outside and he quickly flung it into my box, closed it, and moved on before I could ask to cut it. I'm bad at asking for stuff like that and it looked ok on the outside so I tried it. Red raw. Every time I regret going and by the time I realize it's already closed and (again) I hate being THAT guy. Some of the cashiers are SO sweet but the older hispanic guy is super rude and gives super small servings. Get a sandwich. It's hard to mess that up. Or a salad. But that's about all I would trust here. Also, it's NOWHERE near worth what they charge. Please protest Flix with me and stop going so they step their game up. Also here's a picture of my meal today. The service here is awful I have gotten a lot of rude people who just don't care about good service, I have eaten here a few times now and the food is so/so one time i had my sandwich pressed in the grill and the guy walked away and burnt my sandwich, If your are stuck and have absolutely nothing else to eat this place is convenient that's the only its got going for it. I heard the breakfast was much better than there lunch so I tried that and it was a lot better but the service was not good the girl serving me had a major attitude and made me re-think about coming back the next day. for the money I am paying for this food the service should be a whole lot better the customer does not come first. I waited in the line to get a meatball slider it was a long line and once I got up to order they said they were out of all meat they are completely unorganized and i had gotten there a little after lunch had started and that was the special. read more
