I've heard great things about Flowers Cafe and there always seems to be a crowd around the storefront, so I'm sure it had to be good. I was looking for a quick breakfast as my partner and I were busy with moving, which made this a great time to try out what Flowers Cafe has to offer. We decided to order ahead for takeout and went for: one Lox Special, one plain croissant, one iced latte, and one iced matcha. Unfortunately for us, we only found ONE of what we ordered to be satisfactory: the Lox Special. It was toasted perfectly (crispy outside, chewy inside), the salmon was flavorful, and the "toppings" (cream cheese, onions, tomatoes, and capers) were perfectly balanced with the amount of salmon provided. It was a BIG boy bagel! The croissant, on the other hand, was completely stale and had barely had any taste. And as for the drinks, both were EXTREMELY flavorless (perhaps because it was watered down). The last thing I would like to mention is that when I went in to pick up my order (the cafe is only a few minutes away from us), the worker at the counter acknowledge my presence (there was an exchange of smiles and nods), but continued to gossip with the man ahead of me. It's a small place, so I can't NOT listen into what they're talking about, which was nothing but gossip. A few minutes later, I decided to say something and she finally, then, gave me my order. I came here for brunch on a weekend with a group of friends and this place did not disappoint. I've been looking for a Halal place that does cold cuts for like the longest. I got the turkey club sandwich , which included bacon and I loved how crispy the bacon turned out. One of the best classic sandwiches I've had in a while. I will definitely come back to explore the other options. I also got the sweet mornin pancakes, which had just the right amount of sweetness to it, and complemented my sandwich. Service was very good and quick. I loved how they were able to accommodate my group in the space beneath the cafe. Came here for breakfast after church on the way to the balloon museum. It was in/around Chinatown. A small shop with 2 countertop seats inside and 2 tables outside with umbrellas. Open kitchen concept. They had an extensive menu, and were very patient with us and gave us recommendations when we asked. Staff and owner are very nice. We ended up getting "The BEC" which was a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich and I had a choice of turkey bacon or beef bacon. The owner recommended beef bacon so I got that. My friend got the breakfast burrito with turkey bacon and tomato. We also got a coffee and cappuccino. Both the BEC and the burrito (and the coffees) were good but I would want to come back and try a sandwich (which they seem popular for). I found Flowers Cafe through Ritual (another app) and ordered the "Light My Fire" sandwich for pick-up. The food was ready when it said it would be, the employee on duty was friendly when I came to pick it up, and I got to eat it while it was still hot in the cafe's outdoor dining structure, which is decked out in faux greenery to such an extent that there were some gnats in there, confused that the grass wasn't real. Haha. The shop is cozy (read: very small), but the outdoor area has just the right amount of space, in my opinion. I liked Flowers' brightness on an overcast day. The star ingredient of the sandwich was undoubtedly the toasted French bread, but the chicken, mozzarella, peppers, etc., weren't bad either; overall, the Buffalo chicken sandwich was definitely pleasant!, though not "life-changing." I had a build your own egg sandwich- I added avocado and tomato on pumpernickel everything bagel. I wish I had added cheese. My sandwich was good but not great, avocado and tomatoes weren't quite ripe so didn't have much flavor. The bagel was good but not remarkable. I ordered from DoorDash this morning and the order had so many issues. I ordered an iced latte with caramel, almond milk, double espresso.. but instead got a hot coffee!! Plain! I ordered an omelette with toast (buttered with jam). Toast had no butter and jam. I ordered banana pancakes (got regular pancakes)! Smoothie was meh and not worth the price either. This place was amazing last year when I came. This time around it isn't even close. The toast is smaller & the taste is not even what it used to be. They messed up several coffee orders. First, the one thing I really did enjoy from my order was "The Experience" sandwich. I don't know what even compelled me to order this because I thought I didn't like pesto, but I'm glad I did. The sandwich was FULL of grilled chicken and delicious roasted peppers. On a 9" hero, it was big, too. I could easily see other restaurants charging the same price for just 1/2 of the sandwich. Sadly, I did request it toasted, only to receive un-toasted bread. Luckily it was still a tasty sandwich. Next, I ordered a DIY smoothie, selecting pineapple, strawberry, and mango. It was not worth the $9 charge. I think the smoothie I received was just strawberries, and a splash of some sort of juice. I often make myself mango+pineapple+etc smoothies at home, so I definitely know how the flavor combo tastes. Here there was no hint of mango nor pineapple flavor. I would also suggest adding more options for the ingredients. I think there were only 5 fruits, spinach, and no veggies to choose from. Last, I ordered the side salad for $5. I didn't expect much for a cheap salad, yet it still disappointed. I got a pint-size tub of romaine lettuce. On top were some impressively paper-thin slices of cucumber, a few carrot shreds, and 2 cherry tomatoes. All in all, this spot is promising. Enough that I'll probably try it a second time. read more

We STAN Flowers Cafe but we have some THOTS. First off, this menu is wild and so creatively funny (so snaps for Flowers). With so many bread options, to the point we had to google them, we finally settled on the Bandstand and let me tell YOU-- with a croissant the sandwich SLAPPED, but with French bread, it CRAPPED. The ratio of bread to Sammy with the croissant WAS perfect. With the French bread, I'd say the ratio was a bit off. LOVED the aioli but Jesus Christ, did not need to swim in it. To say it overpowered the flavors, is an understatement. But let me reiterate, the ratios in the croissant were IDEAL. Regardless, we definitely will try more Sammy's and next time croissant as bread is ALWAYS the answer. New Paragraph* I'm all about saving the planet and I'm just as worried about the turtles as the VSCO girls are, but there is no reason my straw needs to be made from paper. This spot has such a cool, casual and happy vibe. It is a small place, with only a few stool seats available- definitely more of a grab and go type of place but the interior and overall ambiance makes you want to stay. The service was fast and friendly. I think the owner was working, she seemed very attentive and welcoming. I really enjoyed the coffee. I had an iced coffee with oat milk in it, very refreshing! I've gotten the bagel with egg cheese and bacon ( + ketchup and hot sauce). I will say that they do not play with their condiments. If you ask for a condiment; you are going to definitely taste it. If you aren't a big "sauce boss" ( I am) I recommend asking for them to go light on it. The bagel itself, I must be honest- I've had better. I prefer a bread-ier bagel as opposed to a chewy/doughier bagel and here they have the later. I've also had their tuna sandwich and that was killer. I definitely recommend that. I think this place does a great job at creating a good mood environment as well as allowing a variety of options to choose from with some unique combinations.
