49th reviewer of Flying Pie, Broadway Rd. Boise. My 370th review. Today I took the kids to Flying Pie on Broadway for their new lunch buffet. The staff was super, super friendly. The location is in a busy area near Boise State University. The new lunch buffet (opening week) was very good-- it has it's own take (see photos) to a "salad" bar. There is AYCE pizza, yummy small breadsticks, two types of pasta (didn't try), artichoke/spinach dip, marinara sauce, and their own salad as opposed to a build your own salad. They had four salad choices and each one was high quality with many chilled dressings to chose from. They also have brownies as the dessert option. Seating is very comfortable. They have a game room, televisions, and makes good use of their space. You're able to sit and watch the kitchen cook as they prepare the food. The buffet is less than $8 per person and includes a drink. read more

Tonight was my second time here. It was equally as good as the first. Tonight I had their second level habanero pizza. It was good. I ate 5 pieces of my 8" pizza before thinking about ranch. The ranch made it really good and made me wish I had ranch all along. It has some heat without the ranch, and the white dog blood red hef. I may have to try level 3. Even though I ate over 30 minutes ago and my lips still feel some heat. Lol I like this one on Broadway in Boise. Good job! Today, I tried level 3. (9-14) Joe C was great! Flying Pie is normally our favorite pizza place in Boise. We look forward to the next time we can go. Tonight we ordered a pizza and waited just shy of 2 hours. It was delivered absolutely cold. There was no call to say they are delayed, no apology. We are very disappointed. $30 for a cold pizza two hours late is unacceptable. We may try again, we may look elsewhere. read more

The Samoan pizza is so delicious. The Gouda makes it. The sourdough crust is amazing.

10/10 5/7 days of the week. I would stay out of the broadway location. Pizza was undercooked and chewy. Fairview is definitely the best location, guess if you get to go you get poor pizzas read more

Worst Flying Pie by far! If you've never tried Flying Pie, please don't judge it by this location. The ones on Fairview and State St are 1000x better. The owner or manager of the Broadway location wants to maximize profits by putting a tiny bit of topping in the center of a sea of bread and calling it a pizza. The other locations serve real pizza, not bread with a touch of topping. If you tried this location and said 'never again', I don't blame you but please give the chain another chance at Fairview or State, where they care more about their customers and less about maximizing profitability at your expense. read more

I've managed to find another deep dish pizza place. The atmosphere What a fun way to eat. The staff employees are energetic keeping the customers engaged. Food I've mentioned this prior, I'm a pizza snob! Deep dish is my weakness. I always start off with cheese pizza and if it's good, I try other pizza toppings. Well here's the deal, their ooowy gooey pizza melted my taste buds and had my stomach screaming for more. Then I tried the jalapeño popper pizza.... wowza!! It was delightfully different. Although it wasn't deep dish, it was amazing. The cheese was what I thought American. There are dabs of cream cheese on it. Wow. Yummy. Price The lunch buffet is a great way to try out the pizza. The prices are a bit higher than most, but it's totally worth it if you go for the lunch buffet. It's about $10 a person. Most importantly would we go back? Yes! Most def for lunch. read more

I attended their soft opening tonight @ 6:00 p.m. It was lots of fun! The inside was done in a very neat industrial-chic style, as was the substantial outside patio. They sold 100 tickets for this soft opening event for each time slot and there was plenty of room for all of us. They have a large beverage filling station which, like their other locations, includes their kitschy "Ice Cube" and "Ice-T" photos. There's another station for beers, behind the front ordering counter. Dad tried the Sockeye Brewery Porter on tap, and loved it! (Unfortunately, something with the keg wasn't working properly when we arrived, but they got it working within 25 minutes.) Their pizzas were delicious, as always, and they also served mini garlic knots. They were awesome, and they are printed in the new menu for $1.79. This location delivers pizza as well as beer & wine. The staff was gracious and welcoming. They were obviously well-trained before this event because they were able to answer all of our questions about the different pizzas. This location is the farthest from our home, but I see us eating here often! read more

Service was fine, salad was good. The pizza? I've had better frozen pizza. I knew going in that this wasn't the Flying Pie of old, and I also knew the Flying Pie in Fairview is much better, but what I didn't know was how disappointing the pizza is at the Broadway location. The whole pizza was undercooked, bland, had hardly any cheese, and the sparse toppings were barely warm. Definitely not cooked. Sauce tasted sour. Will never go back. read more

A little confused as to what the bartenders do here. I was told to order only drinks with the bartender and then walk up to the front and order food. 2 min later a person walks up and orders drinks and food so I guess I was mislead. Three stars for the pizza, it was delicious. The sauce they use is definitely unique. The atmosphere here is pretty legit. The not so goods: bathroom were extremely dirty and missing hand towels. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Looks on my picture to see what I am taking about. The salad that we got only came with lettuce and tomatoes, bad deal for 6$. I hope they get a salad bar in here soon. Bartender didn't know the beers on tap and the person taking our order didn't know about the menu. Flying Pie is probably the best tasting pizza I've ever had. The triple pie is amazing!!!

Good lunch spot, near my office, great mixed fresh salad choices, good pizzas, yummy cheesy mac-n-cheese, my favorite is the white garlic sauce chicken mac-n-cheese. Drink is included, save the tummy for warm bite-size chocolate brownie that just melts inside your mouth, paired with a small cup of fresh brewed coffee. It is like a nice treat from your hectic morning at work. Should try coming here after work for pizza and beer. They have a lot of beers on taps. Oh, all the staff here are friendly and laid back. I loved this buffet for dinner tonight. As it says on the website there is a variety of traditional and gourmet pizza. I loved the 4 fresh salads and choice of dressing! My kids liked the pasta and bread sticks. The prices were food and we all left dill and happy. If I lived in town I would hit this buffet regularly! read more

We love flying pie but we do prefer some of the other locations. I know they are going for a higher end feel here but that's a little off base for flying pie. We prefer the laid back funky vibe. The food is good but NO SALAD BAR?! Huge disappointment there. That's one of the things we love! We love the garlic chicken pizza and making our own creations. We will continue to go to this location because it is close to our house but we would rather go to some of the others. read more

Stopped by for the lunch buffet. The food was great and for $7.50 per person, it was a great deal. However, the customer service could use some work. The first server who greeted us said he would be back with plates and then never returned. A second girl eventually came and greeted us instead. Although she continued to take care of us, she was just... not a great server. We asked for a beer list and she gave us one, but then it took a long time for her to come back and actually take our drink order. She never once smiled. Didn't say anything we she dropped off the check, nor when she picked it up, nor when she returned with our card/receipt. No "thank you" or "have a good one" or anything. Just a "uh-huh" when we thanked her. Really unfriendly and impolite. It wasn't busy enough for customer service to be that poor. Would rather drive to Fairview location where I know the staff is friendly. read more

This used to be one of the best places for us to have pizza as a family. Today when we came in, they've changed it up. It's now a sit-down format where you receive a menu and a server. It's awful. We had to ask for refills over and over again. When we were finished with our drinks and out of soda, our appetizer finally came. We used to eat there once a month. Sorry but you have lost your identify! I liked you as a Pizza place, was okay on the remodel despite the flawed service but am thoroughly disappointed with the new menu and setup. Tried to order Stromboli but you were out of sourdough? Phone waitress said maybe try the Fairview location???? Really??? I live in southeast Boise and therefore go to the Broadway location not across town for a pizza! Next idea! So we reviewed our options and tried the Zambini on their regular dough. She said the computer said 1 hr wait but thought it would be ready in 35 minutes since no one was in the restaurant! Got there in 30 minutes and it was sitting in the warmer oven. Laughable! Pizza was meh at best. First time i have every eaten pizza and only had one slice. No flavor, burnt edges, no real sauce, Nothing!!!! Waited for 10 minutes at take out side of the bar while the waitress tried to figure out if the Denver Bronco game was on. When she found out it wasn't the couple she was trying to help left. Two other guys were hanging out at the cash register doing nothing but looking at me and smiling. Wow. You call that service????? I have better things to do with my time like Google for a new pizza place in southeast Boise. So long Flying Pie, it was fun while it lasted! read more

It pains me to have to leave this review because I've always driven out of my way from Nampa to come to this location. We arrived around 5:30 PM and were sat right away. We did not get asked for drinks and had to flag down a waitress. After another 20 minutes we got to order. It took until 6:45 to get our pizza. We ordered three pizzas and never got refills. We had people being seated after us and had their waitress take their order right away. They also received their large orders within a timely matter. I will no longer come here and just stick with the Nampa location. The service used to be great! read more
