If you're going to go here for anything, definitely come for breakfast or brunch as a treat. They have a wide variety of decadent pancake options and creative omelettes that are a talking point if nothing else. If you're looking for something super healthy, this might not be the best option but for a treat... you can't find anywhere better. Decorations are adorable and constant: little statues of pigs and such everywhere fully equipped with pink napkins and mason jars for drinks on every table. It's a bit cramped in there--my mom told me back in the day it was a bar--but once you sit you barely notice the size. Service itself is relatively good, a bit slow, but waitresses are all personable and genuine. I would definitely suggest this place for breakfast/brunch any day, and be sure to ask about the background of how the place got its name! read more

Today was my 2nd and last time coming to the Flying Pig. I went once over the summer with my daughter. She had just plain eggs over easy with bacon and toast. Nothing special. I had the "stuffed french taost special" however it wasn't stuffed with anything. When I asked I was told that it wasn't supposed to be stuffed as per the description in on the menu. Correct the description didn't mention any speccial filling of any kind but it was LISTED UNDER "Stuffed french taost specials". So the waitress grudingly brought me a side of cream cheese. My daughter and I agreed that perhaps we ordered wrong and would give it one more try. The place was crowded so we also figured perhaps that explained the horribly slow and unfriendly service. So today, my husband and i decided to try the place for lunch. We walked into to a fairly empty dining room but wait several annoying minutes while 3 servers were wandering around the dining area, NOT doing much of anything. About 2 seconds before we were going to walkout, a 4th person came and sat us. We waited again before someone came and offered us a drink. My husband ordered a coke and I ordered coffee and a glass of water. The waitress kindly asked if we wanted lemon in our drinks. We both said no but the coke AND the water came with lemon. (why even ask?) Also, the soda came with the creamer for the coffee. Then 5 minutes later the coffee finally arrived and then another 5 minutes before the water arrived. There were only 3 other tables!! My husband said well maybe the food will be worth it. That was not the case. The food was subpar at best. My husband got the chicken pot pie from the specials menu. I got the chicken salad sandwich with cranberris,apple and guoda on fresh whole grain bread. After and very long wait for the food and no one even once coming to refill coffee or soda, even though there were several waitstaff wandering clueless throughout the dining room this was the food we finally received: The Pot Pie: Served in a small onion soup/chilli syle crock witha side of iceberg lettuce and some cut tomatoes and cuccumber. The filling was more like campbells chunky chicken veg soup with a soggy puff pastry crust. The food was not even very hot. I am assuming it was sitting for a while before someone thought to pick it up and serve it. The chicken sandwich: Cold grill Arnold whole grain bread. I recognized the bread bc it is the same one I have at home. The chicken salad was institutional with a few crasins mixed it. There were some apple slices on the bread and the cheese was melted but completely cold. Again, it must have been sitting out for a while. For the prices charged I expected much better served and much better prepared food. A diner would have been cheaper AND better. even Panara Bread makes both of these items better. The service is inexusable. Apparently there is no one in charge and no manager on site. read more

I usually don't write reviews but this place totally deserves one. First time visiting today and it definitely did not disappoint. Everything was great, from the food to the atmosphere and the service. Our waitress Alexis was very friendly and helpful. I wish I didn't even have to click one star for this place. First they change 2.99 for a small mason glass of soda holding only about 8 ounces and no free refills. Bring a chainsaw to get throug the pancakes as they are like rubber. The food is very poor quality I order mozzarella sticks and they where like the cheap ones you buy in the grocery store made of imitation mozzarella. The rest of the food was about the same. The place is cute and the service is ok but way overpriced for the lowest quality food. Seriously talk to your food distributor and get some better quality products for the prices your charging. read more

Came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They sat us - a large party - quickly and without hesitation. The service was friendly and prompt. The coffee was delicious!!!! I was in town for a friend's birthday. We decided to try this new breakfast spot. As soon as you approach the restaurant you are greeted by a huge pink pig. Can't miss it! We were seated in less than 5 minutes on a Saturday morning. No complaints there. The decor is nice and friendly. My friends and I each ordered something different to create our own buffet. Hands down my favorite was the red velvet Pancakes. One friend thought it was too sweet - I loved them. I wasn't a fan of the Belgian waffles. They lacked flavor or I just don't like Belgian waffles. The only way to get cinnamon French toast is by getting cinnamon raisin bread. That combo doesn't move me. I really like French toast but not with raisins. I ordered hot tea and they brought me Lipton's. Uh no, I am a Tea Snob so I sent it back. My server brought over a selection of Stash Tea... much better. Great atmosphere, moderate noise level. I have never walked out on a restaurant before I had been seated. But today at The Flying Pig I did! I walked in with my sons and got nasty looks by the hostess because I had brought kids with me. But then after another employee gave me attitude because I was standing near the bar, which by the way noone was at. I just walked out. We rented out the restaurant a sunday afternoon for my Daughters Communion Party. I can't say enough positive things about this place. The management from the very beginning of the planning process accommodated my every need. The staff was top-of-the-line, smiling and friendly, anytime you needed anything someone was nearby to assist. All of my guests continue to state how wonderful the food and help was. The food was DELICIOUS and plentiful. I highly recommend using this restaurant for a party, you will not be disappointed. read more

I ate there for lunch on a Saturday in December 2018. The place was crowded which is always a good sign. While waiting for our table, I first noticed a waitress who obviously had a cold. She was wiping her nose by using her bare hand to grab her collar and use it as a tissue. Yuck. We sat down within 5 minutes. The observed waitress turned out to be our waitress. I kept quiet so as not to upset anyone as many were in close range. Thank the Lord that I have a rock-solid immune system. I had the bacon blue cheese burger. I am a burger fan and this is the best one I have had at a restaurant. Pros: real brioche roll that was warmed, crispy bacon, tasted good, was a nice size(needed both hands), quality romaine lettuce and nice tomato slice. Fries looked hand cut and were tasty. Cons: not enough blue cheese on the burger. Cole slaw and pickle were missing. When I inquired, I got two excuses. First, our waitress said it was fries OR coleslaw/ pickle. I pointed out that the menu says AND not OR. Then she said, well people rarely eat them and we usually throw them out so we now leave it out. "Why is it on the menu then?" "We haven't reprinted our menus to remove it yet." Some pretty lame answers there. Finally, she agreed to bring the coleslaw and pickle. I could see why no one ate them. Pickle and coleslaw were both mushy with not much taste. The other dish was the chicken salad sandwich at $14.99. It was good except the chicken salad on it was minimal at about 3/8" thick and did not come to the edges. That was a huge waste of money and my wife was wishing she ordered a burger the whole time. A side of onion rings had good taste and looked homemade but were so greasy you could literally have squeezed them and oil would have flowed out. All in all, I would return but not order the chicken salad sandwich again. Maybe they should rethink the coleslaw and pickle. People might then eat them and they would not have to redo the menu. read more

I've been to Flying Pig twice and both times were very enjoyable. Service was fast and great, food was excellent, ambiance works. I had the huevos rancheros once and the crab benedict another time, which were both very filling. My only disappointment is that they don't have chai lattes. I wish they would do that. read more

We had wanted to try this restaurant for quite awhile, but because of the hours we weren't able to. But we finally had a chance and we were pleasantly surprised! I loved the atmosphere, very clean and sharp decor. The waitstaff was wonderful, these young ladies are fabulous! We started with the kielbasa/pretzel fondue - sooooo good! I had the black and bleu burger and my husband had the stuffed pork chops. The food was really good, and I had the strawberry and cream mimosa which was a delight. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. Overall, we had a good time, but I was somewhat disappointed. We seated ourselves under the tent out back (this is during COVID-19) and eventually the waitress came to our table with menus. We ordered some beer (nice and cold) and ordered our food soon afterwards. We ordered a Reuben (as per the menu, 'one of their specialties') and a meat loaf sandwich. Both sandwiches were ordered with onion rings (a $2 upcharge). For the most part, the Reuben was OK - bread was grilled crisp, cheese melted, plenty of sauerkraut - but the corned beef was dry and a little tough. Disappointing for one of their 'specialties'. The meat loaf sandwich tasted pretty good but was also quite dry. The onion rings tasted good (crispy and hot) but presentation was very poor - mostly broken (there were only one or two complete 'rings') and just thrown on the plate. Service (checking how our meals were, asking if we needed anything, etc.) was very slow - and the place was NOT busy at all. This meal cost $76 before tip (bottled beer is $8/each) and we expected better. We had a good time mostly because we were in a good mood (and again - the beer was cold). And the food wasn't terrible, just very uninspired. Will probably try them again because everybody deserves a second chance. read more

I always like to support local merchants. I've been to the Flying Pig for breakfast and I was disappointed (did not write a review). During the week I saw a sign outside indicating they would be open for dinners Thurs-Sunday and they were offering a Thursday night prime rib special. My wife and I decided to try this establishment for dinner. BIG mistake. When we were brought to our seats/ booth, I quickly found myself sitting on a broken uncomfortable cushion. Rather than move I stayed put. As we unfolded our napkins, we realized both were stained. they were replaced. I waitress took our drink order. Two diet cokes. That took fifteen minutes and there were only a few other patrons in there. My wife just wanted simple comfort food, ordering mac and cheese. She forced herself to eat some of it. I figured, how wrong can you go by ordering the special so I asked for the prime rib. When the waitress didn't ask how I wanted it prepared it should have sent up a red flag. I had to tell her as she started to walk away, I wanted a rear portion. Here is what was served to me: A very thin slice of prime rib, medium well, very grainy and fatty, tasteless. Au jus dip seemed to be beef broth with grease added. A very undercooked baked potato. Broccoli that was burnt on the outside (broiled) and cool inside. If you can't prepare a simple mac and cheese dish and offer a special that should truly be special and not close to being terrible, you are in trouble as a restaurant. I was so happy to see a little breakfast/lunch place open in my neck of the woods. Although I think the outside is tacky and kind of an eyesore I have to admit it got my attention. I thought if that was the outside the inside must be just as wacky and fun. Nope! To be fair, it is pleasant and attractive but it doesn't in any way, match the outside. It's BORING! Service: Everyone deserves a second chance. The 1st time it was awful! The staff was slow and uninformed about everything. The food took forever and was not only delivered incorrectly but by at least 3 different people. The 2nd time (and the last time) the server was pleasant but when there was an issue she didn't go out of her way to make it right. Food: Horrible both times!! Omelettes shouldn't taste like oil. It should have been flavorful and creamy. There was no seasoning, no color, no garnish (eggs shouldn't be gray either). The terribly overlooked home fries looked like brownish black glass cubes because of the grease. Shame on this restaurant for charging so much for sub par food. Totally disgusting! When I recall it now I'm nauseated all over again. Do yourself a favor and go to the Cook Room or the Heritage Diner you'll be much happier. read more

I ordered a Greek omelette and they couldn't take the time to chop them. They were large whole olives. The waitress asked me various toasts , biscuits etc. I asked for the biscuit assuming it was included... I found out when I got the bill It was an extra. After we got over the rude waitress, we all ordered things that sounded good, and we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chicken cutlet with mashed potatoes and field vegetables, and I loved it! The people I was with ordered the meatloaf and the penne with chicken, they liked their meals too. I feel as if the menu should be broader because it'll attract certain customers, and that the menu should have lunch and dinner on the same menu because I was looking for a sandwich that night.
