Met up with some friends at Fogo De Chão for happy hour in downtown Los Angeles and had an amazing time! The restaurant is accessible by driving (you'll have to pay for parking at the meters or nearby parking lots) or taking public transportation (subway or bus)! Happy hour was all day and we had a blast. There was a server and a bartender that took our orders. They were friendly, nicely dressed and very knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. First time here at Fogo. Coming in we were hesitantly greeted by the hostess. We arrived 6 minutes early to our reservation and she asked if we wanted to wait for dinner or do brunch. I advised her it was our first time here so we didn't know the difference, she stated dinner is almost twice as much as brunch is. We asked if there was a difference food wise, she shrugged and said "uhhhh the price?" and again stared blankly at us, which didn't really answer or acknowledge our question about any food differences between the two menus. My husband and I stared at each other and discussed, thinking if dinner cost more, there must be a different range of courses or different varieties of food, something of that sort, so we opted to wait until dinner. She observed us as we discussed and did not opt to give more information when hearing our confusion. She directed us to the waiting area and once it hit 2pm on the dot, she sat us down at a table. To our surprise, our waitress was very kind and informative opposed to the hostess. This was a great change of pace after the uncooperativeness we received from the very first person we interacted with when coming into the establishment. She welcomed us and asked if we had dined in before, which we notified her this was our first time. She seemed confused that we received the dinner menus when she saw us walk in minutes before and let us know that we would be ordering from the brunch menu. Through our waitress, we found out that the difference from dinner to brunch is just the time block which affects the pricing. She stated food is all the same and only the prices change. Had the hostess explained a little bit more or had a confident tone when she spoke about the differences, we would have just opted to sit down when we arrived instead of waiting. Everything inside was nicely decorated, colorful, and lively. Tables are set cleanly and welcoming. Again, our waitress was very informative on the whole process and the open salad bar and sides available to us. She made great drink recommendations based on our preferences. When I advised her of a severe kiwi allergy I have, she checked in with the kitchen staff which advised us that the fruits may have been cut on the same surface as the kiwi. The kitchen offered to cut me fresh fruit of my choice so as to not worry about any cross contamination. This meant a great deal to me and was such a kind offer and I gladly took them up on some dragon fruit and pineapple. Having never been to this style of food before, we over estimated how much we could consume and kept saying yes as we were offered different cuts of meat. My top 3 were the garlic steak, flank steak, and the chicken drumsticks. The filet was less tender than I've had in the past and though it was a perfect medium rare, was still dry. Overall great flavor variety, we would come again. The experience was made great from the servers bringing out the cuts of meat and most of all our waitress. As we left we said good bye to the hostess and she never stated up from her phone at the stand and never acknowledged us. This visit was just as wonderful. Every cut of meat was flavorful, and the service was excellent from start to finish. One of my favorite parts is definitely the salad bar. There were so many delicious options that I ended up filling two full plates, and I was already stuffed before the meat even kept coming! The fried bananas were delicious, the Brazilian cheese bread was amazing, and honestly, everything we tried tasted great. When we were seated, there was already a bottle of sparkling water on our table. The server asked whether we would like to keep it or order a different beverage, and we were happy to have the sparkling water. I also love that they give a complimentary slice of cake to the birthday guest. (Although my brother had already brought a beautiful $90 cake from Sweet Lady Jane for all of us to share!) Before our visit, I purchased four Costco gift cards, which turned out to be a great deal. Each Costco gift card covers $100 in dining credit ($50 × 2) but costs only $78, so it was an excellent way to save money on our family dinner. My husband and I visited this location on Saturday July 18 to celebrate a special occasion. It was our first time. We decided on the buffet. Overall the experience we paid for was not worth it. The food was ok, but again it could have been better. For example, getting more meat variety quicker would have been great. Also some meat was over done a bit which made it a bit tough. Again for the price I just expected every piece of meat to taste great. The service wasn't so great either. We've gone to other restaurants that the staff is on it. They are very attentive and making sure everything is great, and we didn't get that here. I understand if it was busy, but honestly the place wasn't crowded at all. Fogo de Chão - DTLA (Weekday Lunch) FOOD Damn--they serve authentic Lamb Chops! Many restaurants tone down the characteristic flavor of lamb because a lot of people don't like that distinct taste. But Fogo's lamb chops stayed impressively close to the original flavor. Thank you, Fogo! Next time I come here, I may just order the lamb chops and nothing else. Their Picanha was also very good. Their Black Beans were delicious. My co-worker pointed out that there was meat in them--I honestly didn't notice. So it probably wasn't full Feijoada, but rather black beans with a bit of meat added to enhance the flavor. Either way, they were excellent. Our server suggested adding Chimichurri on the side for the black beans, and that was a fantastic recommendation. Absolutely delicious. Thank you, miss! I also loved their Mashed Potatoes. And of course, the famous Brazilian Cheesebread! Love it! (Be sure to ask for it. Because ours came towards the end of the dinner.) DÉCOR & FOOD PRICE The décor was just so-so--not as nice as H&H Brazilian. However, Fogo's all-you-can-eat churrasco costs significantly less. H&H was $73 per person when I went last December, while Fogo's weekday lunch was only $55. That difference definitely matters. DRINKS The drink prices were also a pleasant surprise. A glass of South American Chardonnay was only $8, and their Clean Cosmos (a mocktail) was around the same price. Our server brought us bottled spring water, which cost $8.50. I don't recall being asked whether we wanted tap or bottled water, but times are hard and I want them to stay in business. DESSERT You may not even need dessert--the fried plantains are included as part of the all-you-can-eat churrasco, and they're a satisfying sweet finish. SERVICE Except for one grumpy gaúcha (meat server), everyone was wonderful--from the hostess, to our pleasant server, to the nice gaucho. As for the grumpy gaúcha, she probably just had a bad day. I'm not a big fan of honey, but it elevated the grilled cheese to a whole new level of goodness. Their customer service was simply outstanding! I was surprised to learn that Fogo had a dedicated customer service supervisor for each shift. We had the pleasure of meeting A D, who was truly exceptional. He made our visit exceptional and personalized by building a relationship with us. A D went above and beyond, taking our conversations to a personal level, making my daughter feel like the center of attention, and checking in with us at the perfect times. I dined her with a large group. Having arrived early I sat at the bar to wait for others. The bartender had an attitude and asked me, "Are you going to order anything?" The bar area was almost empty. My recommendation - if you dine there, stay away from the bar!! As for dinner it was very nice. The cuts of beef, lamb and chicken were cooked perfectly and were exceptionally seasoned. Service was very friendly and attentive. We also had access to the buffet, but I was a little turned off watching one customer taking Cesar salad out of the bowl with my bare hands. I asked the waiter if there was anymore and was told no. So I passed on the salad. The rice and beans smelled good except the beans were cold. The rest of the buffet was well stocked and offered selections for everyone. This was the first time I've dined at a 'Fogo restaurant and I'm sure I'll dine at another one in the future. But sometimes bad experience can ruin an entire meal. The bartender's attitude and the customer's hands in the salad were disgusting and totally turned off any sense of enjoyment I expected. Parking is valet and I parked across the street in a lot that was convenient and cost half as much. The restaurant is in a vibrant part of DTLA. But traffic conditions at 5:30 pm were horrible. For example I had to make a right and immediate left and cars would not yield for me. When I finally turned a car in cross traffic laid into his horn didn't stop until I finished my turn. Last night my girlfriend and I went to Fogo de Chão for a date using a complimentary dinner-for-two card we had. When we arrived, we asked both the manager and our waiter if the card could be used, and they confirmed that it was valid, so we proceeded with our meal. Unfortunately, the service throughout the meal was very lacking. Over about an hour and a half, our waiter, Jose, did not check in on us, ask if we needed anything, while other tables around us appeared to be receiving much more attentive service. At the end of the meal, when it came time to pay, we were told there was an issue with using the card we had been previously told was accepted. This was frustrating given that we had confirmed it at the beginning and had already completed the dining experience under that assumption. We ultimately ended up paying around $120 out of pocket. While I don't have an issue paying for a good meal, if I had known from the start that I would be paying full price, I would have ordered differently and chosen items I actually wanted under those conditions. Salad bar, and the Brazilian barbecue meats brought to the table. Everything was good and we enjoyed the dinner. The rib was somewhat overcooked for the first round but better for the 2nd round. Lamb was slightly gamey the first round but tasted better the 2nd round as well. We've eaten at several different Fogo de chao locations and it's interesting to me that there's often quite a bit of variation between locations. I would rate this location as middle of the road. The only complaint I have is that the entire restaurant is 80% empty and they seat everyone in a small space next to each other so you are sitting on top of 3 other tables when there are plenty of tables open. I can't believe I just discovered Fogo's happy hour! It's available all day, every day at the bar or patio. While the happy hour menu doesn't feature many vegetarian options, that's fine--after all, you go to Fogo for the meat! The portion sizes are impressive and reasonably priced. Where else can you find a delicious picanha burger with fries for just $10? Some of my other favorites include the blistered cheese with honey, lamb lollipops, the filet mignon board, and chicken sliders. I would skip the empanadas, as they were a bit lacking in flavor. First time to this restaurant and location, although my husband has been here countless times. Came on a Saturday evening and got seated right away. Food was amazing. There is a stark difference between Fogo de Chao and other Brazilian steakhouses and I've been to a few others. It was such a quality experience, everything from the cheese bread, to platanos, meats, and salad bar were top notch. The service at this location was 5 stars! (I'd give more if I could.) Our server was Andrew and he was very kind and made our experience very special. Everyone else was so courteous, especially the churrasqueiros. It was a wonderful experience! There's valet parking across the street in the designated garage for $10. Or if you plan to go shopping after, parking at Fig at 7th is an option, too . read more

They are personable, genuine, incredibly knowledgeable, and consistently attentive without ever feeling overbearing. Great conversation and amazing recommendations on new key items. The food is always excellent, fresh, and plentiful, but what truly sets this place apart is the level of service. I can't even begin to express how outstanding the service is here! as a previous manager of multiple restaurants, sometimes it can be difficult to enjoy yourself when you have a certain standard. But I can hands-down say this was the best service I've ever received . the service from every single person in this restaurant, from the hose to the food runners to the servers, i'm just completely blown away. I came in by myself, and it was my first time trying it, every single person touched the table, I was continuously asked if I needed anything, even the food runner before he walked away and made sure that the steak was the perfect temperature for me. I want to give a special shout out to AD, his customer service is phenomenal, Vivian. The host at the door was very pleasant. And I wish I got everyone else else's name that was working that night because I would give all of them a personal shout out too! Came here to celebrate our anniversary with my partner . Our Brazilian or Latin American waitress was surface level nice . I used to work in downtown LA and definitely gave the you don't belong here vibes. Aside from the food was amazing . The meats were nice juicy and tender without the overwhelming seasoning. What I assume was the floor manager honestly made our night by constantly checking in on us along with other staff asking if we wanted more drinks . The waitress took my plate without asking if I was done. I'm currently pregnant so I take breaks in between my meals since I get full faster than usual. The floor manager asked if we were celebrating anything and brought us a complimentary dessert. We honestly were full to order anymore , but she was personal about our celebratory dinner. Thank you !! made it special and the reason we didn't give a minimum tip for the initial judgemental service .
