We were excited to see this chain restaurant pop up in Providence and glad to see something occupy this space in the mall after sitting vacant for several years. The restaurant is beautiful and features a bar area, outdoor seating, a two level main dining room, and a private dining area that would be a great place to celebrate a party or event. We went for lunch mostly because it's cheaper ($45.50) than dinner ($62.50) for the same experience and my kids don't eat nearly enough to justify spending the extra money. lol They have extra bougie items that you can add to your meal like a $109 seafood tower appetizer or a $150 Wagu ribeye main, but we went for the rodizio experience and were not disappointed with that decision. Once we were seated, our server came over to introduce herself and give us an overview of the menu. We ordered some drinks, I got the premium caipirinha and the kids got the Brazilian lime aid - both were refreshing and delicious. We went up to look at the expansive market table and filled up a plate of delicious side dishes to try and headed back to our table. They brought the most delicious cheese bread to the table, along with mashed potatoes, crispy polenta strips, and sautéed bananas. Once we flipped our circles to green, indicating that we were ready for the parade of roasted meat to arrive at the table, we sampled just about everything they brought by - various cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and chorizo, it was all delicious. The service was exceptional, there were dozens of employees working together to make sure that you have everything that you need before you need it. Was it an expensive lunch? Absolutely. Overrated. The food wasn't bad, but the experience fell short at the Providence Mall location. The first thing that was off was when I called to make a reservation I noticed that the AI system only offered to speak English and Spanish, but not Portuguese. It's the first time I've heard of a Brazilian Steakhouse where a service wasn't being offered in Portuguese (this ended up being a sign). Making the reservation was easy, and the AI asked if the dinner was for a special occasion and I mentioned it was for a birthday. We were seated fairly fast, asked for the $65 Full Churrasco then went to the salad bar, which doesn't have many of the options that a traditional Brazilian steakhouse has, just a bunch of different types of salads. After we got salad, there were a number of different meats that came by during the first ten minutes but after that the service started to drop off. Also, it seems like the gauchos were trained to only cut two pieces for you at a time before moving on. Also something I'm not used to at an authentic Brazilian steakhouse. Not sure how their system works, but we had to ask two different waitstaff for the check, while a third ended up bringing it back to us. To top it off, no one asked whose birthday it was before paying the check . That was the whole reason we were there. We heard about Fogo de Chao from a friend that raved about the restaurant. We had the rare opportunity to go since we were at providence place mall for shopping. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When entering the restaurant the atmosphere looked nice and welcoming and upscale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then I looked over to the buffet, I said wait this is not a sit down meal? They explained that the meat is brought out to the table but the salad and sides are from the salad bar. Already I was disappointed as I saw a lot of people handling the food like it was a college cafeteria. We sat down and ordered the Churrasco experience. There was four of us and each ordered the same for the full experience. We went to salad bar first and most of the salad was picked over and there was fruits, cheese and a soup station. It did not look appetizing, especially with the handling of strangers breathing on everything. We returned to our table and waited for the "experience" of meats to arrive. It was slow, one skewer of chicken wrapped in bacon and then a 10 minute wait for the next round. Ours plates sat bare! A waiter came over to ask if we needed anything and we asked for filet mignon to come around, he said he would ask them. One came out but when it was time for our table only one piece was left for us which we gave to our hungriest family member. Another 5 minutes of waiting and bottom sirloin was passed around, we passed and explained we were waiting for the filet. Then top sirloin and we added that to our plate, but it was rubbery and cold. We finally had the filet mignon come to our table and we doubled down on it so we would have enough to eat and not wait longer. The meat was good and tasty. Then all of sudden they started to come out all at once, Chorizo, chicken, steak, lamb. Most of them were tasty and had good flavor. I rated this a 3 because the overall experience was a dud for the price and hype. I could have gone to a smaller Brazilian Rodizio and received better service, better price with tasty meat options. Since this Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse location opened in the fall of 2023, my husband and I have been here two times. Last time we went, he dropped his business card in a fishbowl at a table up front. A few weeks later, he was notified that he won a complimentary full churrasco experience and it can be redeemed for lunch Monday-Thursday. He spoke with the Sales Manager and arranged a date and time. I tagged along with him. Our reservation was Wednesday at 12:00pm. We were the first group to be seated, but then a few more groups came in. We had the full churrasco experience which includes the market table and feijoada bar, authentic Brazilian side dishes, and continuous table side service of signature cuts of fire-roasted meat. The market table and feijoada bar had salads, vegetables, cheeses, cured meats, rice, and fruit. Everything was displayed very nicely. My favorite from here is the corn and the potato salad. They also have some seasonal dishes. For the side dishes, we had the warm Pao de queijo (cheese bread), garlic mashed potatoes, polenta, and caramelized bananas. All these dishes were very good and can be refilled. I always enjoy the strawberry hibiscus caipirinha so I got it again and it is consistent to all the times I've had it. The strawberry hibiscus caipirinha is $10 and so worth it. For the continuous table side service, I had the Frango (Chicken), Linguica (Spicy Pork Sausage), Garlic steak, and Cordeiro (Lamb Picanha) complimented with the chimichurri sauce. My husband really enjoys the Queijo Assado (Fire-Grilled Brazilian Cheese). All the meats were flavored well (maybe some a little too flavored but mostly it was good). We were stuffed! We ordered the Cheesecake Brulee for $12.25 to go. It was New York Style cheesecake with caramelized sugar topping served with berry sauce. I really enjoyed the caramelized sugar topping since I never had that on my cheesecake. Service was wonderful and the food was amazing as always. we have been here almost every week in the summer. there's a reason this restaurant has a bunch of locations across the nation! fogo de chão has been consistent almost every time we came. we've come during very slow afternoons and very busy evenings and the service and quality of food has been consistent almost every time. there was a time when it was very busy and some of my food didn't arrive at all but the staff apologized and got it done at the end. when this happens just keep checking in with them the quality of the meats are great. my husband is a red meat enthusiast and he always gets his money's worth. staff tries to give and offer us more food/meat slices, checking in with us every so often, and the side dishes are delicious also and are refillable. the bathrooms are clean. the market table is my personal favorite as i happen to like the fruits and smoked salmon a lot lol! the salads are fresh but the rice can be 50/50, sometimes it's fresh sometimes it tastes like it's been there all day. nonetheless everything else tastes delicious and i would not hesitate to bring out of town guests here! don't be afraid to ask for what you want, they will try to accommodate as much as they can. 10/10 food and service across the board, and would come back again! will try other locations in the future :) read more

I have been to the establishment a plethora of times and today was the most unsatisfactory experience I have had the food was great the service was horrendous they walk straight by us on many different occasions it took them nearly nine minutes to acknowledge us and that was the worst i have been treated at any establishment they then hand me a check when I was ready to leave for $147.67 i was ready to pay cash because the food was great but to my surprise when they returned the paid receipt they gave me a receipt for $186 and some change when I asked why our tab went up almost 30 dollars they said they gave us the right check but they might have not added the other items we ordered which was no issue but why would you charge my card for an amount other than what was on the check you gave without communicating with me first . Both times we opted to order from the bar book rather than the full experience of different meats being brought to the table & the unlimited salad bar. The bar book has great options & both times we have been very pleased with the food! To start the servers bring over delicious cheese bread also know as pao de queijo. For the party of 2 we order our entrees almost in "tapa" style. We ordered the brazilian empanadas, filet mignon board & the braised beef rib sliders. just coming by to update my review since last year and give 5 stars! came on a saturday at 1:45pm and asked if my party of 2 could still do brunch. the hostess was so kind and said she'll seat us by 2:15 and guarantee us brunch. i got seated early waiting for my friend and invited to eat while waiting. every single server who came by had the most thoughtful service. it really elevated the experience. loved the decor as always and the subtle winter season additions. and the meat was such amazing quality, and loved their seasonal marketplace items. i ate for an hour before i tapped out and then sat to catch my breath. my friend had a wonderful time for her first fogo experience and wants to make this a regular visit for us. read more

Made reservations to eat here after The Home Show at RI Convention Center. The show was disappointing, so we ended up coming here 2 hours early. Thankfully, they were very accommodating. Our reservations were initially to sit at the bar. It's important to note that if you sit at the bar, it's only appetizers and drinks. Ordering food can be a little confusing. You're provided a menu, but it's for an upgraded version, so you have to view that regular menu using QR code on your phone. We opted for the Churrasco Experience. When you are seated. You are immediately greeted and provided warm cheesy bread, We were instructed to go to a buffet area.... Which was a little confusing. They had great options of traditional brazilian side dishes, I wish I had taken photos , but it was a little difficnote. Once we sat down, wait staff we're walking around with an array of meats:beef, pork, chicken, lamb sliced table side. This was never-ending food, which is a great deal considering it's only $62.50 PP. I wasn't a fan of my drink. Mango caipirinha, as it was $15 and was mostly ice. The whole experience was great with the exception of the service..... Most places you have to fight to find a weight staff to help you, This was overwhelming the amount of people trying to help us, it didn't help that we were seated next to a side station. I recognize that this restaurant just recently opened, however, they have a long ways to go to perfect the service required to support the amount you'll pay for your meal here. I ordered a Caipirinha, that was just way too sweet and did not have enough cachaca. Went on to enjoy the salad bar, which was delightful, and had a good array of items to choose from - not as large as other Brazilian steakhouse restaurants I have been to, but was good Meat courses...service was lacking, slow. They did not seem to be any method to how they approach tables, they did not have a process for offering different fineness to the same table. the gauchos need practice cutting! at least three pieces of meat, fell into my lap because they cut so close to the edge of the table. The other thing that was not appreciated was the amount of correction that was going on between a trainer/manager and the severs. Again I realizing they are in training mode, but the way he spoke to them and how often and within earshot of customers was uncomfortable. If you've never experienced churascaria, you might enjoy it as a first time experience, but I expected more. Hoping they improve! read more

My friend any I came here for a second time in the last two weeks. The first time was pretty good and made us want to come back. Unfortunately today was so disappointing that I started writing my review from the bar. Our menus were disgusting and had no business being handed to any customer in the condition they were in. The bar had water, lint and crumbs across it. I initially wrote it off because I try not to be too fussy. Unfortunately that was a big red flag of what was to follow. Both mine and my friend's drink remained empty for over 15 minutes. The bartender not only stood in front of us chatting with servers but also looked directly at us multiple times and took zero action. They didn't even try to acknowledge us, ask how anything was, or if we needed anything. The level of customer service was practically non existent and the attitude of the staff seemed like they couldn't be bothered. One bartender was discussing out loud how servers just stand around yet that's exactly what they were doing while my friend and I sat right in front of them. We ordered the hummus and the BPQ churrasco board. Our BPQ churrasco board didn't come with any sauce like it's supposed to. It only had lime. But I couldn't get their attention to get anything. Our food arrived cold as well. It almost seems as if these 2 people never worked behind a bar in their life. It's common sense as a bartender to check on customers within 2 bites or a few minutes. It's common sense to also keep an eye on customer's drinks and offer something else when they're empty. Their failure to do this is not only problematic with customers but with the business itself as the business loses money and customers by inattentive staff with bad attitudes failing to upsell and keep customers interested in making additional purchases. As a bartender of 13.5 years, the treatment my friend and I received today was abysmal at best. I don't recommend Fogo de Chao at all. There is nothing "upscale" about this place at all. It was more frustrating than enjoyable. It's a shame cause this place has potential but staff like the ones we dealt with today will drag the place down with them. I'm only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because our bartender two weeks ago was delightful and knew what he was doing. He said he tended bar for 10 years. It showed. Nothing special but nothing is too terrible. The meats tasted just fine. Some is better than others. You have to wait for the server come to you with different meats, and it can take a while. If you want something particular you can tell the server, but you also have to wait a long time for that item. I lost patience so fast, and the meats get very boring because the seasoning taste the same every piece. I personally didn't enjoy the food. But the service was great, and the environment was quiet and lovely. The desert was okay. If you don't really care about the food, it might be a good spot. read more

Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that parking, at the mall, can be horrible on busy days (which today was...people on vacation plus events downtown, so parking lot was jammed). I've been wanting to go try Fogo de Chão for a while but i knew it was pricey so i hadn't gone. Finally went today and love it. We went for Saturday brunch, did the rodizio and had drinks/desert. Hours later and I'm still stuffed! The buffet was good, lots of cold options from salads to cheeses. I didn't see a lot of "brunch" items other than mini waffles and some delicious bacon. I thought there would be an omelette station but I didn't see that. I meant to ask but was distracted by the rest of the food. They brought little cheese rolls, fried polenta and sweet plantain to the tables. The only thing I didn't see where fried yucca fries, which i usually eat at Brazilian restaurants but i guess they dont have those. Once the meats started coming ,there were a lot of options. They gave us option on how well we wanted our meats cooked (med rare for me) and a lot of the cuts just melted in my mouth! Delicious. We had caipirinha to drink, the passion fruit was good, not too sweet; but if you want a really sweet drink, get the strawberry hibiscus! We also had creme brulee for desert. I asked the hostess where we were on the list she responded 2 more than you, I informed her our reservation was at 6:30, her response well your going to have to wait. 3rd thing, with in seconds hostess informed this gentleman to sit us down, he asked us to follow him, pulled out a chair for me at the same time another waiter/ maitri-d was seating another party at the same table. He stated that that group had to be moved because they spilled their drink on the table and they had to clean so we would have to wait again. WHAT, I was irritated and expressed it. Brand new location, very open and well lit. Pretty typical for a Brazilian steak restaurant. The buffet display was very appeasing. Some nice choices available, the meats are suppose to be cooked to medium to medium rare. The gauchos visits the table pretty consistently and the meats was pretty good. It was a luncheon and wasn't busy yet but it must be quite different at dinner and the place packed. All and all it was a pleasant lunch and again, the next time I visit I'll be better prepared for the experience. read more

My first time at Fogo de Chao & it was excellent from start to finish. The interior is stylish & it was apparent that the restaurant is fully staffed. Our server was Jonathan & he was fantastic. Very attentive, informative and friendly. The fresh cuts of beef, chicken, and pork were nicely flavored. The side of delightful creamy mash potatoes just added to it. The Cosmo was top notch as was a friend's wine. To finish off, we had the papaya dessert as well as the chocolate lava cake. I made reservations for Saturday night at 7:30 to take my boyfriend out for his birthday. I didn't tell the servers that was why we were there, because he is shy and doesn't like the attention, but I did notice a few people getting a slice of cake with a candle and the servers just passed it to the table and left. I liked that they did that instead of calling a bunch of attention from everyone like some other places do. We waited a little while to be seated, we were sat at about 7:42. I was nervous reading some reviews about service not being up to par and meats being dry, but I didn't experience that at all. Everything was great and service was top notch. Our waitress was very patient as it was our first time and we didn't know what we wanted. We ended up doing the 39.99 deal I had seen online but they did not have that option on the menu, I had to ask about it. They explained the difference between that and the full (I think $63) one, which was that we wouldn't get filet mignon and two other meats I can't remember. That didn't matter to us. Our waters were refilled before we ever finished them. The manager came over a few times to make sure everything was good as well. The meats kept coming continuously. I was very pleased with the service. As soon as we sat down from market side, we flipped our cards to green and we were served at least 4 different meats right away and turned out cards to red so we could clear our plates. We were asked if we wanted meats even when our cards were still red, which was nice because they were things I wanted to try. There were also a variety of sides that were brought to the table, like garlic mashed potatoes. My boyfriend loved the white cheddar with honey. I don't eat dairy, so I couldn't try it. The server was happy to give him my portion instead since he liked it so much. I came to Fogo De Chao at the suggestion of a few people at work who raved about the one in Boston and I'm so happy this is where I chose to take him for his birthday! Listening to some atonal fugue whilst I recall the meat sweats I indulged in at this fabulous, gluttonous affair. It's a closer drive than the other Brazilian rodizio options. Having said that, it is not the best option of them. Convenience was key. The service is outstanding. Ordering, bussing, meating, all around A+. The meats were tasty with a capital T! I'll allow the one act of indiscretion where the chicken wrapped in bacon had some raw parts in the center. Cut into your food people! The rib for me was the star, even over the filet. The salad bar is a bit scrawny. After seeing some of the grandest displays at other similar places, it was underwhelming. However, it was nice to mix up the meal with fresh options. The vibe is super chill. Broad layout with an open floor concept. Massive bar with some mediocre sized TV's. There is an upcharge for dessert. I found that to be excessive considering the lunch price. That is also thrown in at other Brazilian establishments. There were some nice surprises. My wife and I came here really just on a whim, we had been to this style of Brazilian before and were excited to try it near home! First, we did the churrasco experience which is the iconic endless table side carving and full access to the many salads and sides bar. This cost $128 for two people, we also got specialty cocktails which were only 8 a piece which made our total 144 before tax. This is an EXCELLENT value, you really just have to strategize. It's very busy inside but it's a gorgeous dim lit room, dressed up, but not formal. The entire back of the restaurant is an open fire kitchen which was spectacular, the salad and sides bar table is in front and the rest is seating. Staff is weaving through tables with cuts of meat. Really a cool place. They gave us some starters that were included, and walked us through the process briefly. We'd recommend trying small samples of the sides and salad because you will need room for the most insane tasting cuts of meat in your life. We tried everything, it was all perfect. Even if the card was red they would still come, we couldn't say no. If you have the opportunity, try this with a group, plan it out, come hungry. read more

Came here for my husband's birthday and had a great experience. We were seated in the middle of the dining room and it seemed like we kept getting missed with all of the good options, or they came out at the every end of our meal. The ones we did have though were fantastic! The wait staff were phenomenal! They were so kind to our children who we kept there longer than they would have liked The food was delicious and the rolls were gone as soon as a new basket was put down, so we appreciate them constantly filling them... until the kitchen couldn't keep up. We really wanted one more basket and never saw them because they were cooking.... Ambiance was fine- typical for a Fogo. Overall our meal was good and we will be back in the long future. read more
