Normally I don't write reviews, but after my visit to Fogo de Chão (Washington DC - Reston location), I felt I needed to share my experience. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, a good location, and the service was attentive. Unfortunately, the quality of the meat was extremely disappointing. When they brought fraldinha, I asked for a piece. After the first bite, I immediately told my son something tasted off, though he said it was fine for him. I didn't eat any more of it. They continued bringing different cuts, but none of them were good, so we finished quickly and left. I considered saying something to the staff, but my son asked me not to make a scene. We were in the DC/Maryland area for a soccer tournament and went back to our hotel. Around 11 PM, my son suddenly became very sick--vomiting, dehydrated--so I had to take him to the hospital. Long story short: after eating at Fogo de Chão around 2 PM, and having nothing else afterward, he ended up with food poisoning. I sincerely hope the restaurant sees this and takes it seriously. No place charging nearly $50 per person should be serving meat of such poor quality, especially when it compromises people's health. read more

Their churrasco experience at $64 per person is a hefty price, so you better skip straight to the meat! :) Nice atmosphere for a date as it's a bit darker inside. It is very loud in there due to the bustle and hustle. The market table is a fine spread of soups, salad, and small finger foods. The salads and the squash are decent but they are heavy. Definitely wait to get the picanha and steak as they are the heavy ticket items--they came out really late, however, and they try to fill you up on the lower quality meats. The meatballs with bacon are worth a try, but are not as good as their picanha and steak. The servers bring out a huge skewer of meat and will ask you if you want a couple of pieces of their meat (as long as you have the yes please coaster on display). You are limited to a couple of pieces per round, so you have to wait a long time before they come again and you can get more. I suggest asking the server, but even then it will take a while before you get the meat you want. One couple next to us was having a hard time getting sausages since one of them had a dietary restriction. It was frustrating for them since it was a busy night and they waited a long time before they decided to leave. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. The food quality was terrible -- the meat had an unpleasant smell, and nothing tasted fresh. Service was extremely slow, and we waited far too long between servings. Based on this experience, I don't plan to return. Definitely not worth the price. read more

I want to love this place and recommend it with no reservations. However they are losing a star due to some bad service. Based on my first amazing visit, I dragged a group here to try happy hour. However, the bartender ignored us and the bar was full. However, they had open bar tables literally next to the bar but they said they were "full." This really turned off my friends.ml and we left to spend our money elsewhere. Last month, I wanted to try again, so invited friends to try out dinner. We were a party of 3 but the hostess refused to seat me (I was 10 min early) until one more person showed up. So, I sat in the frigid cold entryway for 14 minutes. Really? Not a great way to show a good impression. I'm not going to beg to get a table just to spend a ton of money at your restaurant. I was almost ready to call it quits, but then we got the best server ever - Eryn. She took the time to chat with our table, and even better, she brought me an amazing tray of the fried cheese. QUEIJO ASSADO - Fire-roasted Brazilian cheese, Malagueta honey. I ordered the sea bass entree (no market table) and my friends ordered this with the market table. All the food was good, but really overpriced for an entree. They still brought out the side dishes, which were good, as always. Half priced bottles of Brazilian wine were a great deal. Also, beware of the passed drinks. A nice waiter comes over with drinks on a tray that you think are free (or at least a reduced price). They just offer them to you and then you realize that they are $9 each when you get your bill. Please make sure to ask before you take them! Overall, I really love the food but the service really needs to improve, especially at the hostess stand and the bar. I really appreciated Eryn and hope she gets the credit she deserves. read more

Next month when I see my hairstylist, I'll have to thank her for giving me a heads up regarding Fogo De Chao's bar menu. It never even occurred to me that they would have such a thing. We were glad to find out because places like Fogo De Chao and Texas De Brazil always have the temptation to eat too much. Years ago, we went to Texas De Brazil in the Fair Oaks Mall and we walked away feeling like we spent a lot of money and didn't get our money's worth because we could only eat so much. This past Saturday we went to Fogo De Chao and sat at the bar. We had looked at the bar menu online and had decided what we wanted. Still, we did take a look at the print menu once we were seated. We were here around 4:30 p.m. and the restaurant was doing a brisk business. The bar had customers but seats were still available. At the time, there was only one bartender and he was quite busy keeping up with the orders. So, it took a bit of time before he got to us. Later on, a second bartender arrived which helped in that the service was more efficient. We both ordered the "Picanha Burger" which consists of: "Fresh ground in-house, smoked provolone, bibb lettuce, tomato, onion, chimichurri aioli, brioche bun served with crispy parmigian polenta" To drink, I had a "passionate caipiriniha" which consisted of: "silver cachaca, passionfruit and lime". My husband had a glass of Malbec Alamos from Mendoza, Argentina. As for the drinks---I liked my drink. The passionfruit flavor came through very clearly. My husband liked his Malbec but he said he has had better ones. The burger was cooked medium and was juicy. I asked for no onions on mine and it was honored. The provolone didn't have a distinct flavor. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. However, the real star of the show was the crispy parmigian polenta. This was truly unique and creative. It was fried which gave it some crispness and I was pleased that the parmigian was sprinkled on top and didn't overpower the polenta. We both used the chimichurri aioli as a dipping sauce for the polenta sticks which worked really well. Looking back, we should have added some to the burger. As an aside, when our burgers came, other customers at the bar were oohing and aahing when they saw our dishes. A woman sitting next to my husband commented on how good it all looked. We told her it only cost $9 which surprised her. Overall, we're glad we stopped in. We would eat the burger again. It was decent but not the best we've ever had. In RTC that honor goes to Capital Burger. What will draw us back is that crispy polenta. All in all, before the tip, dinner cost $36.04. We never would have thought a meal at Fogo De Chao would be that cheap! read more

My wife's Birthday weekend and my son wanted to try out Reston's new Foco de Chao so we made an early reservation for dinner. We normally eat at Texas de Brazil or Chima and the experiences have been great. Jam packed as we entered in the former Big Bowl. There is now an upstairs. To be honest except for our server ERYN, this first visit was pretty disappointing especially to my son who has been to the chain many times but not Reston. Not well organized, slow to serve unless we got ERYN involved and the meats did not appear to be well seasoned. The Market table was food, always lines but moved. Asparagus seemed undercooked. Perhaps some more fruit? My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and she found that quite good although lacked a bit of flavor. My son and I had the churrasco but it took so long to get the meats that we had to keep asking Eryn before anything came around. All told for the evening we received 2 lamp chops, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of chicken and my son the picahna (once). Pretty disappointing and the Manager Kelvin was stuck at the meats and never came around or send anyone around to ask how our experience was. We depended on ERYN Renee and Enrique. Some servers told us they were new and didn't know some of the meats. The table next to us would be served and us not and visa versa. Very disorganized. Finally every restaurant comps the dessert for a Birthday. Not this one. I gave a big tip for self-service but only because ERYN got us whatever food we did get. read more

My family came here on Sunday to celebrate my son's birthday. We had a 630 reservation. Only my son had been here before, so the rest of us didn't know what to expect. The service started out good but then right away, we were told they no longer have the tofu dish that was on the menu because no one really liked it. Then why is it still on the menu?? They had also run out of the 2 beers that my husband asked for. Ok fine. Then we went to the Market salad bar and realized it was only cold vegetables on it. It was quite a varied selection, so that was nice, but I was hoping for some hot veggies too. And of course our favorite vegetable, peppers, was out. When I asked if they were being refreshed, I was told they ran out of peppers....it was only 6:45! When we got back to the table, I decided to go with their house red blend. I was then told they were out of that. So then I asked for the house Malbec, and you guessed it, they were out of that too! The waitress, of course recommended the highest priced blend for me, but I declined. I asked to talk to the manager because it was getting ridiculous about how much stuff they were out of. The manager came over and I briefly explained what was going on and he asked me which kind of red I would like and he told me "I got you". Brought out a nice red for me and all was well for a while. I found the meats to be OK, nothing impressive, and even the filet mignon that I was highly anticipating, was very mediocre. At some point, the big table behind us left, and none of the meat was coming out at all. When it did we noticed the filet was not coming out and we had to especially ask for it. They finally brought out one small fillet for the three of us to share. And again, it was only 7:30 at this point...not late for a Sunday night! We had also asked for their cheese, but that never made it out...until the bill came! The waitress didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert, which we did, since it was my son's birthday. We actually thought they might do something nice since this is such an expensive restaurant and we told them it was his birthday, but they didn't! At this point, it had just been such a long and frustrating dinner that we wanted to wrap up. Then the waitress brought out the bill and we saw that we were up-charged for premium cocktails which we didn't ask for. When we asked her why we were up-charged she said that's what we do because it makes it better..what??!But I told her we didn't ask for that, so she went back and fixed the bill and then she told us she had actually forgot to charge my husband (for his non-meat dinner) which was fine. She had also forgotten to use the gift cards I gave her so we had to track her down again, and then she brought the bill and forgot to give us a pen. This place is an example of late-stage capitalism, where you don't prepare or honor your reservations because either way, they will get an ass in the seat. From my experience trying to bring my company here for a holiday party, I wouldn't recommend anyone spend a dime at a restaurant that makes you wait an hour for a reserved table. They have a two-hour limit, but don't impose it on guests who overstay. read more

This was our second visit to the new Reston location. First visit was the full experience... all I can say is come hungry!!!! Tonight we had the pleasure of coming to their first wine dinner at this location. Featuring the wines by Zuccardi it was a tasty and educational and overall amazing experience... the experience as they like to term things was held in their back room. It consisted of 4 courses each paired with a different Zuccardi wine. I especially enjoyed as three of the wines were different Malbecs... I was astonished to taste the variety of wines and how they paired to each course. Now I will admit that I enjoy some ifvtte cuts better than others... tonight the bone in rib-eye and pork chop were my fav. But other standouts were the wagyu strip and the fraldinha. I didn't try tte jamb as I was just tooo full but hubby said it was tasty I'm typing this before the final course... but I'm looking forward to the salted Carmel mouse with toasted pineapple... The point as I type this is to look out for these special dinners... as they have cuts and recipes not on the normal rotation. All those serving were helpful as we navigated each course... the person you need to know is Jc (Jan Carlos Sandoval) as he can set you up for future experiences they have it even special events for when you gave that special party... I've never stepped foot inside of an actual Fogo De Chao yet have ordered from a few locations countless times beginning in the pandemic (& fell in love with their takeout) so I was super pumped when I saw that they opened one in Reston Town Center because this meant I'd be able to have Door Dash deliver my all time favorite to-go meal (bc it's so delicious and I find it WILDLY inexpensive for what you get!) WHEW THAT WAS A RUN ON SENTENCE! The TLDR: The 2 meats + 2 sides combo is SLAMMING in this location (I selected the Picanha and bacon wrapped chicken with the 3 bean salad and asparagus) and the portion size leaves enough for 2 meals believe it or not. And I also ordered an entire pan of the cheese bread bc it's DELISH (& again so reasonable via delivery) and I inhaled 3 pieces and froze the rest for future cravings. They like to pick premium real-estate locations! That one is in Reston Town center and the design is a piece of Art! I also like how Fogo recognize birthdays and give amazing promo to enjoy your birthday! Sign up online on their website!! They are probably doing their best for this location to be at the best shape with the opening but hey let's not judge early and maybe they will keep it that! This place was very tasty! I love their cheese balls. Their market table is fine, but I definitely think it isn't the best either. The AYCE meat option is pricey but quite nice! My table really enjoyed it. The alc drinks I thought were a bit too strong, but if you are into that then go right ahead and drink up. It was really nice inside, very clean. Sometimes it was hard to hear the service workers tell us what cut of meat they were giving us so that was a little annoying but patience is key. Outside of that we were well taken care of! Poor service, meat lacked flavour, recommended wine was highly acidic (restaurant is not to blame for the wine, but did not help with the overall experience), and high prices. Not worth the cost. First dining at Reston location for special occasion. The ambiance was fabulous. It was romantic and intimate. Definitely good for special night, not only for couple. Even at the early dinner, the restaurant was packed. Their meats were served quickly and their market table was absolutely mouthwatering. It was my birthday the first week of October, so I decided that I would celebrate with my wife by trying out the new Fogo de Chao in Reston Town Center. We have enjoyed Brazilian style steak serve at other establishments, so we were really looking forward to having one so close to us. We arrive a little before 5:00 on a weekday and walked in the restaurant knowing that not opened at 5:00 (it is posted on the door). Once we got the bartender's attention, we were sharply advised that the restaurant does not open until 5:30 and that we would have to come back. OK...we started walking out the door and noted to ourselves the times posted on the door. We stood outside discussing our back-up plan when all the sudden, an employee came out and invited us to sit at the bar because the restaurant was about to open. OK...back in we go. We were then handed a menu for the bar and encouraged to have a drink and order something. I declined, politely, because we were there for dinner. After waiting a several minutes, we were offered a table. We asked to be seated outside because they weather was perfect. Once seated, I let them know that we would be having the "Best of Brazil" special. We were again offered drinks, but asked for water. The waiter went through a list of available water, but did not offer "tap" water. I had to ask for that, to which he agreed. Tap water it was. He told us we could go in and enjoy the Market Table. Most of the items on the Market Table were oil/mayo based salads. They had warm black beans available, as well as smoked salmon and several other cheese and meat selections. I tried a spoonful of several of the salads. The beans were no better that canned black beans, which was disappointing for a Brazilian restaurant. The smoked salmon was very good and the salads were good. I did enjoy the Beet Tartare. The warm rolls they bring to your table were quite tasty and went well with the salad course. They also bring you warm cheese...OK, that was good! We flipped our cards over to start the main course. The first server arrived and would only serve my wife, pointing at my card and shaking his head. He didn't speak English, so I was very confused why she could have something and I couldn't. So, the birthday boy sat and watched his wife cut some of her meat off to share with him. She is a very kind soul. I was hopeful that the next server would feed me, as I was batting 0-1 so far. The waiter came and did something with our cards. I am still not sure what happened, but it clearly had something to do with the "Best of Brazil" option. It was just entirely disorganized and poorly communicated. After the fly by, I was permitted to eat again. We tried many of the beef offerings, chicken offerings and I had some lamb. We were asked several times, by several employees, if there was anything we wanted that wasn't offered. We asked that the beef be cooked medium rare and I asked for more lamb. Hey...it was my birthday and that's all I wanted. Well, I did get two rounds of lamb. Only two. Unfortunately, almost all of the beef served was medium well or well. We didn't see any medium rare during our meal. Having asked several times, to several employees, it never happened. The lamb and chicken was all cooked nicely, but didn't outweigh our disappointment with the beef. Overall, the staff was very attentive otherwise. Elizabeth left me with a card that had QR codes for all the review sites and her and our waiters name (Juan). She was very kind and seemed to really care about our experience. They did check on us frequently, but unfortunately, our requests never made it to the chefs or servers. It was all overcooked beef. The outside dining was wonderful and the restaurant is very comfortable. Being able to enjoy dinner outside on your birthday in October is definitely a plus. I was hopeful that Reston finally had a Brazilian Steakhouse that we could enjoy from time to time. Unfortunately, the poor greeting we received upon our arrival, and the overcooked beef that ignored multiple requests, was less than impressive. I can't get past two stars on our visit. Being ignored and misdirected upon arrival, and having our requests fall on deaf ears throughout the meal, costs three stars. Perhaps they will improve with time. The positives the atmosphere was lovely. The restaurant was bright, clean. We made an online reservation which was convenient. As for the rest... despite a less than half full restaurant service was slow. I was never offered a refill on my soda, and my husband never received the refill he requested. Many workers asked us what we desired but when it arrived it was after a very long wait time. I found the steak cuts to be stringy, dry and overcooked. None of the items I ate had much flavor. The grilled mozzarella cheese was like eating rubber. Overall the sides lacked seasoning, as did the meat. We spent over $300 and it was not an experience I would do again. My family and I have been going to the location in Tysons for many years and always loved the food. We started going to the Reston location when it opened, and every time we remark on the same thing: we like the food just fine, but the restaurant seems to be trying to do way too much with the space it has. The salad bar area is smaller than at other locations, the restaurant is extremely noisy, and the wait times (both at the door and at the table) are long even if you have a reservation. The last time we were here, we were halfway through our meal before our drinks showed up. It's a shame, because we like the food and have had a good time at other Fogo locations, but this one is just so chaotic that it's hard to enjoy. This brings me to my experience yesterday. It was Father's Day, which is always a big day for restaurants, so I made sure to make a reservation a couple days in advance. When we arrived, though, the hostess informed us that a table wasn't available for us yet and she didn't know when it would be available. This isn't the hostess's fault, and she was very polite to us, but I am in awe of the sheer audacity required for the management to overbook their restaurant this badly. There was not one empty table, and several families with reservations were still pouring into the front area, where they had no choice but to loiter for an indeterminate amount of time, squeezed shoulder to shoulder. That simply should not be happening if you've made a reservation--ensuring you have a table when you arrive is, in fact, the entire purpose of a reservation. Worst of all, when my dad checked OpenTable during our wait, he found he was able to make a reservation for fifteen minutes in the future! Why? Clearly the restaurant was not able to accommodate more reservations--it wasn't even able to accommodate the guests who had already checked in! There was no reason not to close down online reservations... other than wanting as many bodies in the door as possible and not much caring about the experience offered. We ended up canceling our reservation and finding somewhere else to eat. (That meal was enjoyable, and we were seated in a reasonable length of time.) Like I said, it really is a shame, because I like Fogo a lot, but not enough to put up with the terrible crowd control and greedy "just pack them in, who cares if they're happy" mindset. Go to the Tysons location if you really want Fogo--that's what I'll be doing. read more

Update: after a second visit, I am changing my review. The second time was much better all around. Service was outstanding, and the food was great. Service was a huge let down. Both tables around us got asked how they liked their meat. We were served tough well done meat. Feel like we were treated unfairly compared to other customers as tables around us were asked how they liked their meat but we were not asked. There was a period of time our sign was green but we waited close to 15 minutes before we were offered meat. I'd like to also add that we were there for approximately an hour and a half and got offered beef/lamb probably 5 times, two of which were the garlic steak- the rest was chicken or sausage. Disappointed because I had decent expectations and I'm not sure if this was a one off experience but the experience didn't leave me wanting to go back to find out. read more

From their GM Samuel, to one of the best servers in the industry Natalie, the crew is unbelievable !! Plenty of street parking and there are 2 parking garages within 150 feet, that are both free after 5PM I would highly recommend this establishment to everyone !! read more

My first visit here was 8/13, I decided to take my good friend for dinner and this is where they picked! Both of us were first time guests of Fogo. We arrived early for our reservation to have a nice glass of wine and a snack at the bar. We were greeted promptly and made to feel very welcome by all of the bartenders that we came in contact with. The wines by the glass menu is very well thought out and the warm hearts of palm dip was amazing. We moved to our table for dinner and I enjoyed the $39 special that offered the market table and select cuts of meat. My friend opted for the regular priced experience as he wanted to try more of what they had to offer. The servers were all amazing, never felt like there wasn't someone taking care of us, from wine service to the rotation of the meats. Two managers checked on us as well. The meats were hot, well seasoned and constantly being offered. The market table was well stocked, I see people say small in a few reviews, I guess I am a quality over quantity gal, because the selections were just fine for me. Back to the bar for an espresso martini, do yourself a favor and order this!!!! Best one I have ever had! Fast forward to about a week later when we stopped in for a quick afternoon bite to eat at the bar, Ish was our bartender and he was attentive and just plain makes you feel welcome and appreciated. We enjoyed the empanadas, gaucho hummus(OMG SOOO good) the beef rib and mashed potatoes, along with some wine. A quick bite turned into a lovely and leisurely afternoon! We have made several more visits in the last few weeks, always sitting at the bar due to the outstanding service and great attitudes of the bar staff, we have enjoyed everything from the chilled lobster and shrimp appetizer, their delicious burger, key lime pie..everything is fresh and well prepared. I recently took advantage the butcher shop And ordered some cuts of meat to prepare and enjoy at home. Great price and excellent quality! In short, this to me is a great location, or I would not have gone back almost a half of dozen times since my first visit a little less than a month ago. Went to Fogo on Sunday November 24 for dinner with another family. Both our families each have a 6 year old child, making it a party of 6. Probably had the worst experience for a dinner at a "nice" restaurant. First the guys with the meats ignored our table completely. They went around to all the others tables except for ours. This was very deliberate and discriminatory. Only time they stopped by was with pork or chicken. When we made specific requests, we were frequently ignored or lowest priority. Had all our cards turned "green" as instructed, however this did not help. When I flagged one of the servers that stopped by every table but ours, they seemed annoyed. Our actual server was friendly, however didn't really stop by our table very much. Overall, Fogo in Reston was a terrible experience. It put everyone at our table in a bad mood. I would not recommend this location, especially if you have kids or are looking for a good time. Three are my other restaurants in the town center better managed to choose from. read more

I'm normally at the Fogo in Bethesda, but after a visit to the Udvar-Hazy museum we decided to stop in here for lunch. The décor of this place is awesome. There's a bar/waiting area upstairs in the back that looks super cool. The whole restaurant is spacious and welcoming. Being a lunch service there was only one "gaucho" serving the food but there weren't that many of us and he was hustling at a good clip. Our first couple of meat arrivals were pretty sub standard (a 90% fat/gristle piece of pork and a ho hum piece of bottom round). When Elizabeth - someone apparently up the food chain here - came to check on us we let her know and then things seemed to change rather quickly. Better cuts and quicker service became the standard and we were off to a lovely lunch. The only bummer about this place is that their salad bar (or "market table" as they call it) is pretty small. The one in Bethesda is amazing...and huge. Ordering just the market table in Bethesda is totally normal where here it would be kind of disappointing. In the end, I'd definitely come back here. Shout out to Ismael Nunez for taking care of us on Fathers Day! He made sure we got all the cuts of meats and sides we needed for our table of 8 and did it all with a smile. The food was excellent and the servers were top notch. If you need a few recommendations get the picana, sirloin and chorizos. The cheese breads are also delish as well as the polenta fries, fried cheese, street corn and potato salad. They also have mini cinnamon waffles with syrup that are the best way to end the meal. Fogo De Chao is located in Reston Town Center or Reston's Food Heaven, in my opinion. Many restaurants and shops are located here. Parking is close by and ample. This was my first time coming to this restaurant and I have only I have heard good things about it. I was told that there would be an endless array and supply of meats for the asking-a meat lover's heaven. The restaurant is very large and bright with lots of sunshine coming through the windows. The atmosphere is casual and the restaurant is family friendly as we brought all 3 of my Grandson's. They do have space for dining outside as well. No lies we're told about the food. There was chicken, beef, pork and lamb. The servers came often and frequently. I lost count of how many meats I sampled. What I do know is that my 2 favorites were Filet Mignon and the Bacon wrapped steak. Tender and seasoned to the Gods! We also had fried cheese which was amazing and the lightest bread on our table. They had a wonderful salad bar which I did not partake of because I was there for the meat. All in all a wonderful restaurant with great service. Family thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

We came with my family for a late lunch on a Friday around 3pm and I have to say the food bar was disappointing, several flies around the foods and the food seemed to had been out all day since the early lunch. The vegetables were wilted and didn't taste fresh. The service was a bit slow , we had about 3 different servers but the last one was nice so I do give them that. However so disappointed on the food . The steaks were also not much seasoned very plane and bland. read more

In general the good is good. I recently went for lunch and was surprised that they tend to serve more of the cheaper meat like chicken and pork. Later we asked whether they stop serving lamb chops and learned that you need to request for it. We wished we learned that earlier so we could enjoyed our usual favorite item. read more
