My wife and I had Christmas dinner at this location. On the Plus side, the service was exceptional. There were a wide variety of meats, continuously circulating, and everyone was very attentive. Also, the decor, lighting, and music were all very pleasant. On the negative, all the sides were bland and without much taste. We didn't care for any of them. So that meant the two of us spent about $200 just for cuts of meat. It's too expensive given that the only thing we ended up eating and enjoying was the meat itself. This was my first time visit here. It is located on Canal Street snd connected to the JW Hyatt hotel so you have to find alternative parking. We parked in the Hyatt parking garage. We were invited here for a surprise party for one of our friends. We had a private room in a back with about thirty people. We had regular service like you normally would get in the dining room. The staff did an excellent job of keeping our plates full and our drink glasses also. If I remember correctly one of my severs was Teddy he did a great job for our table. What a unique concept! Fill your plate with non stop delicious meat. If you are a carnivore diet person this is your place. Tip: I can't eat that much in a sitting so I ordered off appetizers I got lamb chop lollipops phenomenal and filet bite slices which were also excellent. My husband got the whole shebang. It's no secret that New Orleans has some of the finest restaurants in the US. There is no shortage of various cuisines and specialties. But every now and then you feel the need for a fresh salad and all the advantages of a good salad bar - Fogo de Chão at the JW Marriott on Canal St more than fulfills this need. But that's just the start... The bar includes varieties of cheese, prepared salads (bean, potato, Caesar, etc.) along with black beans & rice. You can order this as your entree, skipping the usual Brazilian steak option. But the star on the night of our visit was definitely Fern the bartender. We were in town for the French Quarter Festival (incredible) and were staying at the JW (highly recommend) and went to Fogo for the salad bar. Our seating choice is the bar and on this night, dinner came with entertainment - Fern! From the moment we sat down, Fern had us laughing. Her energy was amazing and her sense of humor drew you right in. There were about 8 of us that were just cracking up while enjoying our dinner. The salad offerings were fresh and replenished as needed. The black beans are slow cooked and delicious. And Fern's entertainment made for an excellent dessert. We chose this place because it was in same building as our hotel and had decent reviews. I've been to Brazilian steakhouses before and they have been inconsistent. However, I didn't want creole, wanted to stay close and just relax and have a nice meal. The salad bar from the Yelp pictures looked good and that was what I was looking forward to. Looks can be deceiving. When we were seated and ordered our food we immediately went to the salad bar. Unfortunately they were still preparing the bar. The fresh produce wasn't out yet. They had most of the premade food which wasn't fresh at all and most likely made the day before. I grabbed a piece of bread and it was as hard as a rock, obviously was out from lunchtime and wasn't properly stored. I grabbed some potato salad and corn salad and premixed Cesar which tasted like they made that in the morning and put out the leftovers for dinner. The meat skewers offered were okay as far as seasoning but the quality of meat was not that great. This meal was about $200 after two drinks and tip. The service was good. New Year's Eve Dinner with amazing friends. The winner was the Garlic Steak, Parmesan Pork and Rack of Lamb. But the real MVP was our hilarious server Mitilde. She was friendly, efficient and just had a great attitude and jokes - the girl got jokes. We all really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and of course, the meats!! We really have loved fogo de Chao experience in the past so we excited to bring a group of 11 for a dinner celebration. We did not realize it would become the worst dining experiences we ever had. We all arrived on time and were seated . Orders were taken. We all chose a meat dish except for two people. One person that ordered sea bass (trying to avoid red meat) and one vegetarian that ordered baked cauliflower. We were told that the market bar was included in our dish and it will be endless meat of our choice by just flipping the card at the table. The server will come meat to carve at the table. There was also suppose to be cheese bread and banana flambee. We grabbed a dish of the market bar which was decent... but the nightmare began... The server that was supposed to to bring various meat came one time only for the people who ordered picanha. The person who ordered lamp champ did not get any service until an hour into the dinner. The cheese bread also was not available (still in the oven till over an hour and half into dinner..) The person who ordered the sea bass (who avoids eating red meat) got the sea bass almost an hour into the meal. The outside looked beautifully baked but when he cut into the piece, it was translucently raw and cold in the middle.... He decided to change to chicken since he is now super hunger.. Another 40 mins later.. despite asking the server more couple time, the chicken never showed up.... I left the meal with only 2 slices of the meat since they only came once.... They said they should be coming 'soon'.... We asked for the server to speak to the manager. When we got the bill, instead of removing both the fish and chicken dish that we never received, the manager gave us a 'discount'.. since the person had the 'salad bar'!!! It was the worst service, food, and overall experience we ever had. We have been to many Fogo de Chao's. Would not recommend anyone to come to this location. So we ate here for our Thanksgiving meal-the food and service were great! The location is a little small though. Theres upstairs and downstairs but the downstairs area where we were seated was tight. We were very disappointed with our experience at Fogo de Chão. I made a reservation for 14 people for Monday night, expecting the level of quality the restaurant is known for. Unfortunately, the buffet food appeared old, and many of the items looked like they might have been left over from Sunday. The salads did not look fresh, and most of our group didn't even want to try them. Throughout the entire evening, the servers brought meat to our table only about 4-5 times. All of the cuts were well done, and it honestly felt like the meat had been reheated leftovers rather than freshly prepared. We have visited Fogo de Chão many times in different cities, but this was by far the worst experience we have had. For the amount we paid, I could have taken my guests to a very good steakhouse and received much better quality and service. This was extremely disappointing. read more

We came with a large corporate group. Note that the group price was $100/head which included a dessert. They wanted to bombard us with the cheaper cuts. Within the first 10 minutes of sitting down, my colleagues and I requested ribeye and tenderloin. It didn't come out, so we reminded them. We had to keep giving them these reminders every 10 minutes until finally -- roughly ONE HOUR after sitting down-- they brought what they described as "ribeye." It had barely any fat on it and tasted rough and chewy like a sirloin. I'm convinced it was a bait and switch. Then, as some of my colleagues were already ordering desserts, the filet finally arrived. Other typical cuts were also missing, like bacon wrapped chicken and steak. There is no excuse whatsoever for nickel and diming people like this. They advertise these cuts, and it is important that they deliver. Otherwise, they need a disclaimer that says "We might give you some filet and ribeye...when we feel like it!!" Be careful if you are expecting a truly gourmet experience. I have been here multiple times before, but not since COVID. I had a reservation with my partner for 6:45 pm. We arrived at 6:48. We then proceeded to wait 30 minutes for our table. In those 30 minutes, we watched as patrons desecrated the buffet bar. People licking their fingers and then handling food. Placing lids off to the side to become dirty. Barely any staff coming by to make sure all is clean. So on top of our reservation not being honored, I am forever turned off my the lack of cleanliness. We ended up walking out. We were given zero updates as we sat and we watched people who came in after us get seated before us. 45 minutes after our scheduled reservation we got a text saying our table was ready. Too late. We were already sat at another restaurant. Do yourself a favor. Next time you want a steak night out, save the money and hassle of parking in urine stained garages, and go to your local bar that serves steaks. Took about 15 minutes after our reservation to be seated as there were two big parties there at that time also. Service was very slow and unorganized. Food was good however we didn't get enough meats passed through our section and only received one plate of sides. Cold bar had good selection of veggies, salads and cheeses. There was one male, a manager I believe, that was obviously very rude to the other staff. Yelling across the restaurant to get their attention and pushing the wait staff to move from one area to the next. Next issues, which I understand they can not control their guests actions and volume, it was a serious issue that evening! First mistake is seating two large parties right next to each other. Second is seating them in the front of the restaurant with smaller parties. We were given a discount due to the noise which was appreciated! The one thing that literally blew me away was the cheese that was grilled and then they drizzled honey on it at the table...it was amazing! Most of us in NOLA are not big into chains and especially this close to the French Quarter but for a chain this place fills a niche that they do well at. This is definitely one of the main spots to eat mass quantities of meat in the NOLA region and is the best example we currently have of the Brazilian style steakhouse genre. Service can be over the top with being so attentive and frequent that it becomes nearly intrusive with going overboard with changing your plate out far too many times. If they pull back on the aggressive plate changing the service experience would be at a great level. I find the meat to be acceptable but on average trends towards too overly well done for my liking and they do attempt to accommodate your level of preference. The meat is brought at regular intervals but the servings were on the small sides at times. The food bar contains a decent selection of items if you want to expand your feasting beyond the carnivore realm and they have even more meat on that in the guise of salmon and ham. It is fairly priced during lunch while a bit on the pricey side at dinner and overall I think I would generally just prefer a nice steak but this establishment does have its moments when you are just in the mood for some debauched gluttony of meat. They also have a great 50% off the churrasco experience for veterans on Veterans Day that I've enjoyed and I really appreciate their support of veterans! Went for the $39 dinner promo. The waitress had an attitude after I brought up the promo. We still paid $130 for dinner. She still got 20% of the bill. The meat is cheap. Overcooked and poorly seasoned. The salad bar is decent. This is not my first time in this branch. They are pushing chicken breast, thighs, drumsticks, pork and sausage. The ad says prime meats. Nothing about these cuts is prime. They do have minimal short ribs and picancha. The rest is top sirloin--no fillet, skirt steak, or lamb. The restaurant is overcrowded, with tables very close to each other. Tip: get the marinated garlic. Eat the meat with garlic, and it takes you to a new level. It even made pork taste good. read more

There are 3 of us and we orders 2 full service and one just the market table(vegetarian) The table servers were excellent and frustrated by the kitchen ineptitude with cooking properly. My filets were murdered well. My lamb was almost the same. I tried as I might to hope my next serving was correct but alas, no.... Almost all medium well to well meats. The two of us carnivores requested a lamb and a filet to our liking in hopes of one final hurrah cooked correctly. We were sorely disappointed when they both came out cremated. This a smaller than normal Fogo de Chao but it still was nice. The market table needed some love. Specifically the salmon, lack of cream cheese and a few other items. Staff (outside of kitchen) was great! Unfortunately I'll probably never go back to this location. We do love our Fogo de Chao but it was a real bummer. read more
