I had an outstanding business dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House in New Orleans, and it was everything I've come to expect from this iconic spot -- and more. This is one of those rare restaurants I genuinely look forward to returning to again and again, and last night reminded me exactly why it's a staple for me. We started with the Crispy Calamari as a shared appetizer/side, and it was fantastic. Perfectly fried, golden rings and tender pieces tossed with a vibrant mix of red peppers, green onions, and what looked like some crispy tofu or croutons for extra texture. The citrus kick from the fresh lemon wedge brought it all together beautifully -- savory, spicy, and addictive. Definitely one of the best calamari versions I've had. For my mains, I went big with both the New York Strip and the Chilean Sea Bass. The NY Strip was a showstopper: beautifully seared with that signature Ruth's Chris crust, juicy and flavorful, finished with their classic garlic butter and fresh herbs. It was cooked exactly how I like it and practically melted with every bite. The Chilean Sea Bass was equally impressive -- a generous, perfectly seared fillet resting on a bed of fresh bok choy, mushrooms, and red onions, all drizzled with a rich, glossy sauce that had just the right balance of sweet and savory. The fish was flaky, buttery, and incredibly fresh. Both entrees highlighted why Ruth's Chris sets the standard for steak and seafood. The ambiance is perfect for business dinners -- upscale yet warm, with excellent service that's attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable, the pacing was spot-on, and the whole experience felt polished and effortless. (Mac n cheese and potatoes au gratin) Our waiter was good/relaxed guy and the vibe was chill, I was dinning around 2ish on Sunday. It's right next to Cesar's casino. Got the bang bang shrimp for an app which was pretty good, it was a fried and grilled shrimp with sauce. We all ordered filets a couple medium and medium rare, I enjoyed mine but nothing really special. Food: Bread and butter service (10/10): I think they use a Leidenheimer pistolette for the bread. It's crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Brussel sprouts (7/10): Some of the sprouts were tasty, especially the ones with bacon and sauce, but other were dry and didn't have much flavor. Steak house salad (10/10): Yummy! I'm generally not a salad person, but I was trying to eat healthier, and went for a salad instead of fries. Absolutely delicious. It tasted like it was seasoned with salt and pepper, which I appreciate. Yet, once I mixed in the ranch dressing, it set it off. I devoured it. When i asked the server about the brand, she said it's made in house. Steak sandwich (8/10): I took a point off because they were stingy with the steak. The sandwich used the same pistolette from the bread and butter service. I asked for some mayo, and I was a happy camper. Arnold Palmer (10/10): Delicious! I just realized our server didn't ask if I wanted a refill, and it didn't dawn on me to request one. Tsk. Service: Our server, Tatyana, was great! She was hospitable, knowledgeable and fast. She never went AWOL, and we never wanted for anything. Ambience: Ruth's Chris has the look of the traditional, ole fashioned steakhouse. It's dark, gloomy and masculine. On Christmas 2025 I chose to enjoy Christmas Dinner at Ruth's Chris and am so happy I did! I've learned to enjoy life! My morning started with an amazing worship service, then an amazing meal! I'm such a creature of habit! My faves are the Stuffed Mushrooms, Sizzling Crab Cakes and Lobster Mac ‍ The consistency and quality is always on point! I also love the Stuffed Chicken Breast and Sweet Potato Casserole but have to choose! I don't eat steak yet, I love how there's many other options that are all so delicious. In New Orleans, we always stay at the Harrah's Hotel next to the French Quarter. There is a Ruth Chris Steak House near the check-in counter. My wife had eaten there a few times. I've never been a huge fan of any Ruth Chris steakhouse I've eaten at, mainly because I don't like the manner in which they serve their steaks. However, after a handful of visits to this Ruth Chris, my opinion has changed. We always sit at the bar. They do have a happy hour in the bar, which is nice. We've ordered a variety of foods and cocktails. The service has been very good with the bartenders being friendly and outgoing. On our last visit, I got their lunch special, a 6-ounce filet with 3 very large fried shrimp and the vegetable of the day. My wife had the Caesar entree salad which was very good sized. My dinner salad was fine, the bread was quite good, and I received a large bowl of broccoli. The filet was delicious with the fried shrimp being very tasty. The overall cost of our meal was lower than we expected due to the happy hour prices. It's a nice quiet bar with a TV always showing a sporting event. He found out it was my birthday and being on Christmas Day he never met anyone with a Christmas birthday. He was certainly amused. The 3 times I visited were great. 1st visit food delivery was extended period and my steak was a little cold on one side. The manager heard about this, and comped my entire meal. Came here for my cousin bday dinner. First time visit for us. We placed our order. The goat cheese and spinach dip came out very fast. They evidently brought out two and it was free of charge. It was very good with the garlic bread. Now mind you we ordered around 9:30 and the food just came out at 10:21. We didn't receive our salads until we asked our waiter about it and he said he assumed that we got them because we got the dip. But he didn't clear out plates with salad. So that's almost an hour that we had to wait for our food. For the first time I'm eating here I'm kind of disappointed. Now trying the food I asked for medium steak and half was well done and the other half was medium. They took it back and gave me another one. B it we was all upset that we waited so long to get our food that we just boxed it up, sang happy birthday and left. Our waiter chuck did apologize but I just wish the experience was better because we had tickets to a drag show and couldn't even go see it because dinner was very late. So we lost money on that. What an amazing dining experience! If you are looking for five star service and incredible steak this is where you want to visit. We came right after the Super Bowl and it was crazy busy. It took us a while to get seated but the hostess and the manager both came over while we were waiting and apologized, even though we didn't complain. Appreciate them doing that and we were completely understanding. Unfortunately they were out of my favorite cut, rib eye, again they were crazy busy, so we had a filet, it was still a solid cut and delicious. The Ceasar salad was incredible. And we really enjoyed the BBQ shrimp, I could drink the sauce it's cooked in. What really stood out to us was the incredible service we received from our waiter Jimmy. He was being pulled in a million different directions but he still had a smile on his face and treated us great. The full-service bar and top dining experience were excellent. The staff was very efficient and super friendly, even though the restaurant was packed for New Year's Eve. They managed their guests exceptionally well, providing great hospitality along with hot, delicious food and beverages that exceeded expectations. It's one of the best places around, featuring an old-school decor that a classic steakhouse should have. Overall, it was very well run. We did a private event here recently and it was just terrible all around. The event staff manager did not communicate with us very well in preplanning, the team of the day of the event had the wrong information, nothing was ready for the event, it was an overall mess. Food is blah. Over salted sides and cold food. Then they let us know weeks later their billing was also wrong. We were sat in the back of the restaurant where it was quiet, which we appreciated. Our waiter, Rob, was great, and there was another waiter, Joe B., that was helping out too to make us feel welcome and taken care of. The Ruth's Classics meal special is a great deal, and this location does not appear to inflate prices as other locations (side eye at Las Vegas) do. We were out walking around and were so hungry & came across Ruths. My boyfriend and I have a little tradition where we go to Ruths if the city offers it, we dine there, and so of course we had to stop by. The place was busy during the lunch hour but they had some tables available in the bar area. Wait time to get menus and place our orders took awhile (like 20-30 minutes) yet there didn't seem to be additional servers available in the bar, so I guess it makes sense? Place was very nice like all establishments and the staff seemed cool. Food was so good! After watching a parade this was the only place we could get into quickly. We visit NOLA to eat at high end restaurants 2-3x a year but we never do chain restaurants. However we figured we would give it a shot. What was only supposed to be a 10-15min wait turned into 30min before we were seated, we had a party of 4. The service was about what you get at a chilies or Applebees, not what I expected at a high end steakhouse. The lobster bisque tasted like it was from a can, very average at best. My wedge salad was actually good, but my baked potato was horrendous for a high end steak house. So bad I attached a photo. However what makes me give this place 1 star Vs. 2 was my sister in-laws chicken was so dry she took 2 bites and send it back. It looked like it had been over cooked then left under a warmer for 3hrs. This was the first meal she has ever sent back in her life, and it was here. Congratulations Ruth Fertel, you got her to do something for the first time. How sweet it is....how sweet it is. Service was prompt and effective.... Not to mention attentively flawless. The booth was comfy and they had curtains that cordoned off diners from happenstance passersby'. They also provided for perfect acoustics. Ambiance to the 9s. Sound level was so comfortable. Lighting perfectly adequate. I got a filet and asked for it butterflied with the blue cheese crust. The latter and also the former was browned just right and the steak was cooked absolutely perfectly, presented politely and was super tender. It came sizzling, spattering and the amazing wafted to my sensory receptors in my nostrils....it was marry-me good. Hellllllllll-o...yum, yum and yum. You get the drift. The spinach was velvety smooth and piping hot. So good that I was hoping that the folks I dined with had some sort of spinach allergy or apprehension so I could just have it all to myself. I wasn't so lucky but let me tell you this much, i came close to asking the chef for her or his autograph. Just look at the pictures and how can you like... not want to go and bite your phone. I might just go ahead and replace a couple of my wallet pictures of family and pets with those two you got here.
