Looking in from the back patio.

It's been about 5 years since my last visit. Dropped in tonight after considering some of my other old haunts. Footsies is as I remember it pre- Pandemic: dark, low key, reasonable prices, classic dark mood lighting inside and out back in the patio. Those eye catching oil paintings of semi to nude sirens still adorn the walls. No TVs so it's not a fame say place to congregate. No wifi jukebox but classic rock tunes bellow out. Old fashioned booth seats and stools at the bar.Back patio is enclosed and decorated in all black paint, black naugahyde bench seats, hanging plants. It's chill more tonight....light crowd. Me loves the old west style swinging door panels just past the front door upon entering.

Staff asked her for "documentation" or "papers" for the dog, which is not permitted under ADA guidelines (staff are only allowed to ask two specific questions). I initially went to understand what staff were telling her so I could relay it clearly, and that's when I learned what they were requiring. When this was pointed out, the tone of the interaction changed and became confrontational. I spoke up during the exchange when one of the bouncers was being rude. At one point I expressed frustration, and shortly after that I was asked to leave. I had been drinking, but I was not acting aggressively. When I asked for a reason, I was told I was being "disrespectful," specifically after I told one staff member to "get your boy" when another was being extremely rude for no reason- it was unacceptable. During the process, a staff member recorded me on a personal phone. I began recording as well for my own documentation. I do have video of this interaction. I was refunded my $5 and told they were "being nice," while also being warned about trespassing. From my perspective, the situation escalated after I questioned how a service dog was being handled, rather than due to any meaningful behavioral issue.

It was so milky, creamy, delicious... just like me. After a couple more variety of beers, obviously it was time to feast on a classic, timeless all American gem- the hotdog. We ever so gently asked our beer connoisseur, "Excuse me, what comes in the hotdog?" Our mouths already salivating at the prospect of this delicacy. To which the fine gentleman responded "Mustard, mayo and Ketchup." Please remember this important detail, it's crucial to the story. We were feeling very bold as one does when you are glutes deep in a Hazy IPA and a second Stout so We said "Perfect. All three will do." Our eyes were beaming, our spirits were lifting, our bellies were grumbling with anticipation. After a brief three minutes, there she was. The gleaming glizzy. Doused in an intricate, interwoven condiment presentation. So immaculate, so beautiful. With such a moment it was only appropriate that we share the gleaming glizzy Lady and the Tramp style. Yes, sexy indeed. As we hold up both ends of the glizzy to our mouths, locking eyes we simultaneously take one big bite. And then... The most overpowering sensation dominates our mouths, our noses, our eyes even. In a state of shock, teetering on a state of confusion and then rage we jolted. WHAT IS IN THIS HOTDOG??? Because that was not just any plain yellow American mustard. It was a pulsating fire rampaging through our nasal cavities. It was like the world had stood still and we lost sense of gravity. This is not to be confused with a disbelief of happiness. It was a disbelief of deceit. Once we grabbed a hold of ourselves and a grip of reality we waved down the fine gentleman and said, "Is this horseradish???" To which he retorted, "No, everyone asks that. It's Spicy Dijon" Bewildered we looked at each other and knew we were thinking the same thing. A piece of us died that night. In that bar. Because that was Spicy Dijon mustard coursing through our blood, our veins, forever seared in our memories. We were lied to. Made to believe that this gleaming glizzy was normal. Beautiful and unsuspecting. Not even the coldest winter day on the snowy slopes compares to the journey we took with this hotdog. Anyway service 10/10, vibes and drinks spectacular. Will be coming back!

Here's your review:…read more --- **1 star. Rude staff, blatant favoritism, and a ruined first experience.** I came to The Douglas on Sunset specifically to watch the FIFA match. We were seated in a shaded, well-positioned spot with great ambience, ordered food and drinks, and settled in for the game. Around halftime, staff switched our screen to the Dodgers game without asking us. When I flagged it to a female bartender, her exact response was "hold on, I don't care, I'll go see what I can do" -- and then she simply walked off and never returned. A different staff member, a man, was genuinely helpful and got our game back on. He deserves real credit; he was the one bright spot in this entire visit. Shortly after, while I was placing another food and drink order at our table, a second bartender confronted me -- rudely and aggressively -- demanding to know if I was "the one who asked for the game to be changed." He then informed me that FIFA couldn't be shown where we were seated and that we'd need to go watch it in the parking lot, in direct sunlight, despite the fact that we'd already been sitting there comfortably for half an hour with food and drinks. It was obvious the switch was to accommodate a small group of the bartender's friends who wanted the Dodgers game instead -- actual paying customers were an afterthought. This is Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Dodgers game is playing on every screen in every bar within a mile. We asked for one screen, in the shade, for one soccer match, and were treated like an inconvenience for it. Bottom line: favoritism over customers, condescending staff, and a complete lack of basic hospitality. The one exception was the male bartender who actually helped us -- everyone else made this a first and last visit.
