Fortissimo is a pizzeria with takeout on one side and comfortable eat in dining on the other. Everything we've had here was very good, not gourmet or fine dining caliber, but enjoyable, Italian comfort good. Other reviews have complained about pricing, but there's no way they could complain about the portions which are guaranteed to require a doggy bag. There was only 3 other tables during a dinner service, I was by myself, here for work, and it took the server 3 times to walk by and for me to wave him down to acknowledge that I was here to get a menu. I just discovered this place a few months ago. I'm not from the area but make frequent trips up here for business. This is definitely the best italian food ive had in new jersey! Ive only been here about 4 times now but each meal gets better which i didnt think was possible! My last visit i had the "Mad Man" sandwich which is chicken cutlet smothered in a vodka sauce with mozzarella over it, so delicious and fresh. The reason i am choosing now to make my review is because the service i received at my last visit was so pleasant. My waitress, Jocelyn, was so friendly and attentive. She made me feel so welcomed and she was extremely personable! She seemed like she was truly enjoying her job and interacting with the customers, which is rare these days. I have only gotten delivery from Fortissimo, but it is worthy of 5 stars. The food ALWAYS gets here in 30-45 minutes, fresh and delicious. I have explored their entire menu (literally, the entire menu) and love everything I attempted. Their classic Italian dishes, healthy wraps, and ravioli d'aragosta are my favorite. While their pizza is average, their dinner entrees such as chicken marsala, gnocchi sorrentina and salads are very good. Their wait staff is always friendly and service is quick. My wife's doctor is down the road from Fortissimo and since March, I became a regular. I began bringing my family, guests etc and everything was great. One night, I called the restaurant to ask of their closing times and I was advised that it was 11:00 pm. 5 of my guests and myself, drove from Union, NJ to for Fortissimo and arrived at exactly 10:15 pm. Upon arriving, we were declined service. To keep it simple, We even asked if we can have a single pie to go and again we were declined. What I don't understand is that, if your time indicates 11:00 pm closing, why were customer declined service 45 minutes prior? I will not be dining at Fortissimo again. read more

The food is very, very, very good. Four star food, for sure. My absolute faves: -Insalata di Mare - Satisfying portion of cold seafood over lettuce and tomatoes. My mom and I prefer the balsamic dressing on this (as opposed to the lemon and evoo it comes with). Light and tasty. My favorite warm weather meal. -Rigatoni alla Vodka - It's just so so so good. Love the diced prosciutto, and the fresh basil perfects. I moved to California a few years back, and make a point to come get this every time I'm "home." It's equally good for eat-in or take-out. I try to replicate this myself at home, but it doesn't come close. -Chicken Parm Sub - This is the stuff dreams are made of. My dreams. No, seriously. For whatever reason folks on the west coast are not able to prepare delicious chicken parm subs, and Fortissimo's is my holy grail of chicken parm. When I'm back in Jersey, I *always* order both the Chicken Parm Sub AND the rigatoni alla vodka, and eat as much of both as I can. That's why I *always* gain 5 lbs when I visit my mom. But it's completely worth it. -The pizza is great too. -Service has always been prompt and courteous. The fifth star? About a year ago, the restaurant stayed open well past closing time so that my family could pick up a large, last minute order of takeout after my Dad's wake. None of us had eaten and we were starving. We don't know the owners or workers personally, but have been going to Fortissimo/PP since wayyy back in the day when I'd stand on a chair watching Santo toss pizza through the window.
