We normally love fortune garden but we just received our order and it was ridden with long black hairs. If it was one, I would've brushed it off but it was not. We also did not receive our egg rolls. This is a good place overall. Flavors are pretty good and prices are reasonable. I think they could work on consistency (fried rice was amazing the first time but lacked flavor last two times we went). They could work on customer service - waitress was only person serving and the place about half full, and she didn't check on us to see how the food was or if we needed anything. Tried this place one other time and the food was mediocre and overpriced but came back again because we live so close so I thought I'd give it another chance. I ordered the food off of their menu online an ordered shrimp fried rice and the spicy lettuce wraps shrimp and neither said there was a $2 extra charge for shrimp. I get to the restaurant and of course there's $2 extra shrimp charge on both items Informed the girl at the front and showed her that their online menu does not show the extra charge and that she should give me the refund and all she said was I'm sorry and that she would inform the manager. My family and I ate here last night. That will be the last time. My wife ordered the Spicy Lettuce Wrap with chicken. The description on the menu was: "Choice of chickens, beefs or shrimps stir Fried with water chestnuts, bell pepper, and mushrooms served with fresh lettuce shells" Well, no water chestnuts, no bell pepper, no mushrooms. But lots of onions. When she asked the waiter about water chestnuts in the meal he said no there were none in it. (She did get lettuce though.) My son in law's Mongolian Beef also had no veggies other than onions. My daughter and I had broccoli in our meals, but onions, broccoli, and lettuce were the only veggies I saw. My guess is the hot and sour soup was warmed up in the microwave and most everything else was out of the freezer. This was not the first time we were there, but it is the last. read more

Some of the best Pho I've had in my life! Super impressed with the flavor and authenticity of the broth. It appears to be made with real bone broth which is seemingly impossible to come by around Cedar Park/Round Rock/Austin. I will gladly be making the extra 30 minute drive when I want pho while passing up a good 5 other pho restaurants along the way. The meat could be sliced a bit thinner but honestly that's my only compliant. I left 4 stars because I don't think 5 is totally fitting but if I could leave like 4.5 stars I would. We decided to try this place for lunch after having opted at Ikea for a while. At first we didn't even know it was in the shopping center but with some map searching we found it and the place seemed interesting so the family decided to try it. When you walk the atmosphere reminds me of a family owned place where they get customers but more so delivery/pick up. The service was great though we ended up ordering Crab Rangoon and chicken wings along with combination fried rice, egg noodles, Shrimp lunch meal and sesame chicken. All of which was awesome it for sure caught us by surprise by the way the flavors seemed to explode in your mouth. Food is ok. Service is horrible. I had been going to this restaurant to buy spring rolls for several weeks, since it was the closest Vietnamese place to my house. Until a couple of days ago when a lady that seemed like the owner or manager told me that I should buy a gift card. I asked her why, and whether I would get a discount or additional credit with the gift card. She told me no. So, I asked her why would I buy a gift card, if I'm not getting anything in return. Disappointing customer service for a restaurant with such good food :-( Went in at 1:50, ordered pho noodle soup with chicken (VERY good), subbed veggies instead of noodles, which they were "nice" enough to do without paying extra...or so I thought (they just charged me dinner price for the other lunch special platter I ordered to make up for it). I didn't receive a correct platter of added fixings for the pho, so the server was annoyed by the fact that I had to ask her for what rightly already came with the soup. No offers to refill drinks, or ask how everything was, or even a glance our way, or even a thanks for coming in. The entire time was just annoyed looks and rushed service, on top of me having to ask for EVERYTHING that should have already come with the food. The 2 stars are to give them credit for the good meal, but the service gets a "0". I liked this place in the past, but each time the service gets worse and worse. I absolutely love this restaurant! The chicken fried rice is BOMB!!! It's a huge portion for nine dollars and some odd change and I order it probably twice a week and eat on it for a couple of days. Just a brief piece of info... This place is Americanized Chinese food. For what it's worth I was surprised it was pretty good. They were bold with the flavors of the hot and sour... You don't "just" taste the white pepper it actually has full on flavor. Wonton was a bit oily and left me thirsty but it was ok. The pan fried dumplings were very good and the crab rangoon was full of flavors and they didn't skimp on the cheese. The lunch specials were good too! Sesame chicken was not over powering and the breading was not overly thick. The Shrimp with lobster sauce was good and the flavors were light. The egg rolls were veggies and not completely cabbage flavored. I was pleasantly surprised. We plan to go back again. read more

Absolutely disgusting and extremely unprofessional. Especially not recommended for vegetarians and people with food allergies! I am a vegetarian and a week ago, I ordered Buddha's Delight with a side of Lo Mein delivered. I paid for the Lo Mein but they did not include it. This week I ordered the same thing and asked for the Lo Mein I didn't receive last time. When I picked up the order, I noticed it was quite a bit more expensive than last time but I didn't say anything. I checked the order before leaving and it was something with chicken so I returned and told them there was a mistake. It turned out that the gentleman who took my order misheard me and gave me something entirely different. I still wasn't upset but I asked for the vegetarian plate I ordered. He was upset with me like I had done something wrong and initially said he couldn't exchange it but finally said he would. He silently handed me a new plate a few minutes later and walked away. I had to call out that there was a price difference with the plates. He silently handed me three dollar bills. That wasn't even the full amount they owed me but I was quite uncomfortable and just left. When I got home, I started eating when I realized there were pieces of chicken in the food. THEY REUSED THE SAME VEGETABLES. THEY JUST PICKED OUT THE BIGGEST PIECES OF CHICKEN AND ADDED TOFU. I tried to call several times but they literally picked up the phone and hung up on me each time. It's been a while since I had Chinese food, and decided to stop at Fortune Garden on the way back from a day trip. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good, it was overpriced (even if it had been good, it's too expensive), the service was GOD awful, and my boyfriend got heartburn from the walnut shrimp dish (and he eats some pretty terrible stuff!) We waited about 20 minutes for a glass of water, tried getting our waitress's attention multiple times with "excuse me" and waving at her, but she would look our way and then ignore us. They were running around frantically the entire time answering their loud phone which was ringing off the hook the entire dinner, but sped past their customers who were actually present. While my dinner here was very stressful and unsatisfying, I did get to watch an episode of Property Brothers on one of their TVs. That was pretty nice. read more

I had seen the place several times and figured I'd get something to go on the way to class. The staff were nice with quick service. The problem was the food. I ordered sesame chicken and a couple of egg rolls. The portion and chicken pieces were ample, but the chicken was dry as if it was in a pan warmer from lunch (it was 4 pm). The too sweet, too thick sauce was spooned into the container and the chicken put on top with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. The coating on the chicken at the bottom had turned thick and gummy. The broccoli was an afterthought with a lot of brown spots. I order this simple dish when trying out a new place...if they can't get this right, I don't expect much else to be done well either. This is my first visit to Fortune Garden and this was also my first 5 star experience in the greater Round Rock/Georgetown area! While this was for lunch, I gotta say that I've found a new favorite. It was a bit of a challenge finding the place even using the Yelp map function. They need to add 'next to Spec's' and everyone will be able to find it ;-) I was all set to order pho, my particular favorite on murky days, but based on the other reviewers profuse praise of the General Tso's chicken, I gave it a try. Boy were they right... I'm not prone to over-praise but this was a delightful dish indeed. The chicken was crispy, lean and packed full of flavor. There was plenty of sauce and they are very accommodating if you ask for 'extra spicy.' The hot & sour soup that started the meal off was also some of the best I've had in years. Service was spot on - friendly, quick and responsive. Though I wasn't in a hurry they were very tuned into a timely lunch as it looked liked there were many business folks in on a limited timeframe. My server didn't rush me either. I will definitely be back for dinner. Finally a great little place, very clean, well designed atmosphere and the obligatory TV, where you can get outstanding Vietnamese AND Chinese food as well! read more

The peanut sauce was good but the shrimp tasted really rubbery so they lost me there. My vermicelli bowl with pork and egg rolls was pretty good. The pork had a number of fatty sections and, while that didn't bother me a lot, it might for someone looking for really lean meat. It was good, though, and a decent size for the price. I would order it again. My friend ordered sesame chicken and we were not wowed by that. The sauce had more of a sweet and sour taste to it than any other sesame chicken I've gotten. I will say that they give you two BIG scoops of rice with the dish, which is good. I get seriously annoyed at places like Hunan Lion that want to charge you an extra $1.50 for a second tiny scoop of white rice, which has to be one of the cheapest substances on the planet to purchase. Ok...so I have been a fan of Fortune Garden since they opened. I love them enough I have them set up in my phone contacts and it's my go-to place for meeting friends and family - and for take out. The orange chicken is wonderful. Crispy and flavorful. Made with white meat (which is my preference.) Over the past few years, we have worked our way through the menu and I can't say there had been anything I haven't liked. Takeout is quick and streamlined. My only complaint is the in house dining. Service can be less than friendly (going to assume its a language barrier.) Sometimes you have to ask for things (like water or an extra plate or napkins ) more than once. Regardless of the hit and miss service - I go for the food and just accept that I probably won't walk out glowing from the prefect hospitality. ; ) The food is great and THAT is why Fortune Garden remains my go-to place in Round Rock. I live in the Terra Vista area which makes this place close and my preferred dining and meeting place close to home. read more

Ugh so sad! I'm not sure if this restaurant is under new ownership or if they just decided to change gears. The past couple visits have not met expectations. On the positive side, this restaurant has improved its online ordering system and has now added delivery service (although my house, at 7.5 miles away is outside of the delivery radius). They also upgraded their POS systems to user friendly tablets. The unfortunate thing is that the food has gone downhill from what made us love it in the first place. Last visit the combo lo mein was almost all cabbage and very little meat or noodles and on this occasion, the noodles were switched to wide, fettuccini style noodles and the portion size was significantly smaller than before. The Mongolian beef was still pretty good but the egg rolls seem really small and less tasty than we've had in the past. We had been willing to drive past a number of Asian restaurants to patronize Fortune Garden but now we don't see anything that makes it special enough to do so. I recently discovered a jewel of a restaurant in Hutto so I believe we will go there from this point on. read more
