We've been to Fortune Garden three times. (We're new to the area.) The first time our food was just mediocre, nothing to rave about. We decided a couple months later to try to again and this time it was delicious. Last week we went back around 2:30 in the afternoon, and were disappointed. The brown sauce for my entrée was very thick and unappetizing. I took 3/4 of it home. The sweet-and-sour chicken was good. I didn't care for the egg drop soup at all due to very little flavor. However, the wonton soup was OK. I'm not sure we will ever go back, but if we do we will go during the actual lunch hour when the food might be a little better. I think the brown sauce may have been sitting too long the last time. We live in Teravista and were in hopes that this was a great place. Me and my son were hanging out in Round Rock & found this really nice Asian Restaurant! The food was OUTSTANDING!!! We stated off with the spicy lettuce wraps (combo) with shrimp, beef & chicken... It wasn't really spicy but, it did have a sweet brown sauce that made the dish delightful! This place serves HUGE portions on the entries & appetizers. We both ordered the combo lo-mein but, truthful we could have shared the plate. The lo-mein noodles were fresh and the customer service was VERY GOOD! When we are in R/R again we will surely go back! Our go to place for Chinese food on the quick. The general Tso's chicken and sesame chicken are consistently good and the fried rice is always good. The hot and sour soup is hit or miss unfortunately. We keep going back though because of excellent service and it has been much better food than many of the other Chinese restaurants we have tried in the area. read more

Terrible, terrible experience. Just finished eating 5 minutes ago 05/18/2018. Food was very bad, no flavor, tasted watered down. Service was very bad too, we didn't even get one of our food orders and we ended up just cancelling it. All of the Restaurant felt dirty, the bathrooms WERE VERY DIRTY AND THE FLOOR STICKY. My husband and I had just moved to Texas and were craving some good Asian food. This place was close to home so we gave it a try. It was HORRIBLE. My husband had pho and I had King Pao Chicken. My husband is not picky when it comes to pho. As long as he has noodles and soup, he's happy. There have been many times where I didn't think a particular pho was very good but he was ok with it. He was NOT ok with Fortune Garden's pho. He said it was very bland and the flavor was just not good at all. For those of you looking for some good pho, go to Pho Saigon on Lamar in Austin. The Kung Pao Chicken was pretty bad as well. It was very bland and I'm usually ok with eating bland food. It was the worst Chinese food I've ever had and that includes places like Panda Express which I don't consider real Chinese food. I think I would much more have enjoyed Panda Express than Fortune Garden. Would never go back here again. read more

Lots of high star reviews.. but I just don't know why? Looking for some Pho and food during a shopping outing, I chose Fortune Garden based on the reviews and ratings. I guess I was a little disappointed. I give them a solid 3 stars.. not trying to be a "Debbie Downer" or "Negative Nick" but I do not see the reason for high ratings. We arrived just before a "lunch" crowd during a weekday.. around 11 a.m. there were about 12 people in the whole place. We ordered: - pot sticker won tons - chicken fried rice - Pho w/Shrimp + 3 drinks The pot stickers came out and they were "okay" nothing good or bad, but definitely limited in filler flavor. We needed to definitely dip them in sauce. I am not a pot sticker aficionado... I liked them, but I am just being honest (that's all) on the limited flavor. My big personal concern on this visit was the Pho. The broth was flavorful, but not deep and rich as other places you have around town. It arrived at my table "warm" and not really "hot" to feel that it would cook the shrimp best. It seemed that they diluted it with chicken broth or water.. I couldn't tell. It also did not have that great aromatic that you would get when it has star anise, cloves, or other flavor compounds blended with it. Nothing terrible about it; after all, like gumbo.. everyone makes their Pho a little different. ....BUT the one thing that did make this Pho NEGATIVELY stand out were the noodles. The great sized bowl of Pho arrived and I eagerly put my chopsticks into the bowl to find that all of my noodles are packed together and stuck together. Huh? This was a Pho buzz kill. I am not sure, but it could be that they have pre-measured or pre-packaged noodles and they just dropped them in, into a warm (almost hot) Pho broth? After a few moments of stabbing and stretching my noodles loose... I now hoped that they were cooked... yes, they were, but it really broke my Pho spirit. Was it a busy lunch rush? Was it they ran out of noodles and needed packaged ones? Was it that they simply failed to give the noodles time to loosen up? I am not sure, but it cheapened the joy of eating the meal. (comparison... imagine going to a dinner only to see your Ramen noodle in a package form sitting at the bottom of your bowl.. buzz kill yes?) The only positive I will say on the Pho Shrimp is that they did provide a large amount of measured "15/16 count" shrimp with tails on (i.e. semi large shrimp if you shop for them like I do), but being that I had to untangle my noodles didn't bode well. As to the last dish.. the chicken fried rice.. it was hot and seemed fresh. The rice grains were somewhat firm, like from a shortened cooking time. The chicken was thin sliced and a little dry.. but fried rice is what it is... most of the time left overs mixed in to make a meal. It wasn't bad, but I have had it better elsewhere. At the end, we needed to take our remaining fried rice portions home.. and it took us 2x to ask for a to-go box.. and then my daughter decided to walk up and get it herself after waiting about 10 minutes. Overall, there was not a busy rush in the front of the house, but maybe there were concerns in the back (aka kitchen). I trusted the star reviews for a better experience and seemed disheartened when I learned the truth. I am not being a scrooge, snarky, or snooty, and I am a very patient and understanding customer, but the next time I want some Pho or Asian fusion... I think I will go elsewhere where the noodles will float freely. read more

I had the #47 and my wife had the general tso chicken! All the food was so fresh and of high quality. Highly recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner! Can't wait to come back. read more

Do yourself a favor and just avoid this place like the plague. We went because I'm pregnant and we were spending the day in the area and I was craving Chinese. It wasn't what we thought when we first got there, but we stayed against our better judgment. The food tastes no better than something you buy at HEB and heat up in the microwave. The only thing good was the service was fast, which made me believe it was literally just reheated food. Half way through my meal I found a black hair in my food. I have red hair - it obviously wasn't mine. My husband was finished before I found it, and now we are all dealing with food poisoning. I was excited this olace was still open during a recent trip to Round Rock. My wife is Vietnamese and we used to go here 10 years ago for the fried noodles. We walked in to a " sewer" smell, but unfortunately , against better judgement, we stayed. Noodles came out with the Shaking Beef we ordered. Not the same as they were, different color and texture. The waitress said it depends on who the cook is thst day.... Interesting. She also said it was labor intensive and time consuming. Drying noodles tskes time? Anyhow taste was decent. We both , however , had to do the Saigon Sprint to the restrooms about a half hour later while shopping. Both had stomach issues. I also noticed that while in dining room the restroom doors were propped open, and this is close to kitchen. Do not think we are going back and we are ssd to see a place we enjoyed in the past go downhill. I also kick myself for tipping as the service was not great and after trying to flag down waitress had to take out check to the back to pay. Go figure. read more

We order from here about once a month. Quality is very consistent. I love their fried chicken wings appetizer. Best chicken wings around in my opinion. Great crunch on the batter and the chicken is nice and moist inside. They also have pretty good pho. Our kids love the sesame chicken and beef fried rice. So its Thursday and it is my day off . after an hour of deciding . I finally pick this restaurant. I walk in . there is no one at the front to greet witch is ok . the hostess / waitress she does not seem to be friendly . I am seated with reasonable speed . she then hands me a menu . I look over it . I decide on #2 spring rolls and #50 pho ga. I sit amd wait and wait for the hostess / waitress to come back around cuz she's serving other people down my booth line. She comes back to me and simply says ...."what do you want " no smile . no guess service . I place my order and before i can ask for my drink she takes off once again. So im left sitting there with no drink twiddling my thumbs. I was just in luck . a very kind waiter comes around and asks if I have been helped . I replay yes . but i never got to place a drink on my order . so I simply ask for water at this point . i quickly recive my drink and then the kind waiter brings me my food . I thank him ask him for chopsticks . I thank him for my food . and start eatting . the food i order here is AMAZING ! I love the Vietnamese food they make here. It has to be on the top of the list . As im eatting the waiter comes back and checks up on me . I thank him again for the food and he replays . if you need any thing plz let me know . with a smile ! . i contiune to eat and 3 mins later the waitress/ hostess , slams my ticket onto my table and walks off once agin .. The food's not that great, I have had much better. Everything seems watered down, including the sauce on all the dishes we have tried. We only order from them because it's the only place nearby, but now I'm done. We have to pay an extra delivery fee because we are about 10 feet (I measured on Google Maps) outside of their circle, even though our neighborhood and the one next to ours are just about the only ones nearby. Seems intentional. Every time I've placed an order for carryout or delivery, I have ordered wonton strips with my meal. They ALWAYS forget them. Every time without fail. This time when I called, I was told that they would charge me $2 if I wanted them, but they come free with soup. At that rate, I went ahead and ordered a soup I didn't really want. Guess what? No wonton strips. Not only that, but the sweet and sour chicken didn't come with ANY sauce, which is the only reason to order it. When I tried calling back, I had to call 5 times to get through. The lady laughed and said she forgot and would call me back. I was already very frustrated talking to her since she can never hear me on the phone and I have to repeat everything multiple times (same person every time I call). She never called back, and 15 minutes later I called again. She said the delivery driver had left 15 minutes ago--we live 5 minutes away! It's now been 40 minutes since my last call, my food is cold, and I still have no sauce and a soup I was persuaded to by. Additionally, we have tried to dine in the restaurant, and waited at the front door for 20 minutes. No one ever came out and we left. Terrible service all around. Fortune Garden has officially lost my business, and based on some of the other reviews they have received, I hope a new Chinese restaurant will soon replace them in the area. read more

On a last minute invite to celebrate my father-in-law's Birthday, we joined the party at Fortune Garden. Fortune Garden is something you might see the Chinese restaurant in the Simpson called... leaves very little to the imagination. This particular location also serves vietnamese food like Pho and such. As far as Strip mall Chinese restaurants go, this one is pretty good.... Although there was no one else there besides us for almost the entire duration of the meal, it was early on a weekday eve. I order the Neptune seafood plate, which is basically Shrimp, Scallop, Crab, veggies and white wine sauce. It was well made and tasty. Everyone else seemed to enjoy what they ordered. I also had a Thai Tea which was well made, just the right amount of bitterness.... Service was good and the food came out as it was ready in the kitchen... Oh, yeah the boy had Fried Chicken off the app menu, delicious. So, good chance I would go back if I wanted some Chinese, I have My Pho places I already go to.... read more

Stopped by here the other day to pick up some lunch Togo. I ordered the general Tso's chicken and the com thit nuong (rice with grilled pork). The general came with a choice of soup (I got hot n sour soup), an eggroll, and fried or steamed rice (I got fried rice). I didn't really like the fried rice that much because it was kinda smooshy and plain. The eggroll and gen tso was good though, wasn't really spicy. The grilled pork was different. It wasn't like the grilled pork that I normally order at all the other pho places. It tasted okay though. The lunch special price seemed a tiny bit high but I guess it's because I'm spoiled by other lunch places. I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items. read more

The food was decently average for Chinese fusion. I've eaten better, both at cheap eateries and more "gourmet" establishments. Fortune Garden is definitely a mom and pop eatery. The servers are a bit scattered brained (simple requests are forgotten or ignored it seems). One of our to-go orders were served first on a plate. Instead of making a new batch and packing it up at the end of our meal, the server simply returned about a minute later with the same dish repackaged as a to-go order. Never refilled water or drinks. Utensils and/dish ware were forgotten both times my husband and I dined at Fortune Garden. I could hear the servers gossiping about us. The lack of respect warrants zero stars. Learn some manners and proper etiquette in serving your customers. They are choosing to spend their hard-earned money at your eatery. A restaurant is where a team of waitstaff offers you food and service you cannot otherwise receive at home. Fortune Garden is not a restaurant. It's a mom and pop eatery. read more

If I could do no stars I would. This has been our favorite spot for years and now we'll never be returning! My guess is they have new owners or something. The waitress was so rude. We were a big party which only meant you give more condiments. She was so bothered we asked for more lemons. Yes literally just lemons. She charged us for some extra lemons. A co-worker recommended this place to me and I am so glad she did. It's a small, unassuming restaurant next to the Spec's. The inside was clean and inviting but the food was definitely the standout here. I had a pho with various cuts of beef in it. On the side you get your typical bean sprouts and various herbs to add to your bowl. The flavors of the pho were delicious and after adding a bit of Sriracha (I like a bit of spice) it was perfect. The beef cuts were delicious and super tender, the broth was tasty, and the portion was large and filling. If you order this you're going to leave full, I promise you that. The only minor problem I had was with the chopsticks, which were a bit larger that what I was used to. Really, that's more a fault of mine though. Besides pho they also have a wide selection of Chinese food but good pho was what I was after. I'm so glad I found a quality Vietnamese restaurant around here. I have eaten here many times and my rating does not reflect the food quality, which is decent, but the service for both dine-in and takeout orders. To put it bluntly, don't bother dining in on a Friday or Saturday night, nor dare to try to order takeout. Friday and Saturday nights are abysmal service, food takes forever to come out of the kitchen, and your party's order never arrives together or even within a few minutes of one another. The last dine-in experience I had it took 45 minutes to get all of our food - my entree had been sitting on the table for nearly 40 minutes before my daughter's sweet & sour chicken was made available along with our appetizers that we ordered just after sitting down and 10 minutes before any of the rest of the food. The prior dine-in experiences have been similar. The takeout orders are just as terrible. They're never complete, they often mix vegetarian dishes with non-vegetarian in the same bag, mix fried rice with steamed rice when the order with steamed rice was written with "EGG ALLERGY" in special instructions, and that's if you're lucky to get rice at all. The last order I made with 6 entrees, we got no rice at all. I had to drive back (35minutes round trip) to get the rice and they refused to even compensate me by knocking off the tip I gave on the order (I know how much it sucks to survive off tips, tips of 25% or more at common.) Last week was my last business with Fortune Garden. But this has been a problem for half a year at this point and I don't think they'll be improving as it seems the owners are too busy with the new location in Georgetown to care about the Round Rock location any more. read more
