7/9/2026 - made reservations here at 5:30pm. Arrived very early and they sat us at 5pm for three adults. My second time here. My guests first time. 5 stars for food and customer service. Every dish was excellent. We ordered the following: Roasted Turkey BLT & Avocado $17.99, 1 Cheeseburger $17.99, 2 Cappuccino $11.00, 1 Dark Chocolate Truffles 12.99 which we would not have ordered. Literally in a box and you can buy near the register, 1 Fraise Fling $14.50 drink, 1 Goat Cheese Ravioli & Chicken Cutlet $23.99 and 1 Uncle Buck's Beignets, this had 6 huge items and needs to be shared, didn't know they were this big and 1 person ordered it. Hidden in the menu was this extra fee we were extorted by aDC Operational Surcharge (5.00%). Fantastic food! Will come here again. See photos.

A solid meal every time. This is my favorite Ladies who Lunch place and today it was the B*tches who Breakfast place I inhaled the French toast with strawberries and fresh whipped cream (so fast I didn't even get a photo) and enjoyed a latte in the cutest old fashioned teacup. Founding Farmers also hosted the whole family last month for my cousin's graduation from GW. Great service every time and I have never had a bad meal here. Their menu has something for everyone of all ages and palates.

I visited Founding Famers for dinner on a Monday with a large group from my association. Despite there being about 18 of us, our servers were attentive and timely! We were given an event-specific abbreviated menu and were served cornbread and spicy tuna wontons as appetizers. I had never had cornbread with actual corn in it, but it added to the sweetness and was delicious. The honey butter was also delicious and paired well with it. As I'm not usually a poke person, I didn't love the spicy tuna's texture and didn't eat much of it. My chosen entree was the Au Poivre Steak Frites with Chives and béarnaise aioli. Wow. I had never had steak frites before (although I've had steak and fries separately) and I couldn't be happier with this dish at Founding Farmers to serve as my first experience. Altogether it was flavorful and the steak was cooked to my liking at medium but was still so soft and juicy. The fries were perfectly crispy as well! Upon perusing the drinks menu, I found the Farmer's Daughter Farmer's Daughter (Founding Spirits vodka, domaine de cantor, st. Germaine, lime, passion fruit, raspberry, bitters) which was sweet cut through with the perfect amount of tart. Wow. I got a second one and was tipsy. Our dessert was a chef's special chocolate cheesecake that was indeed decadent and rich in flavor. Delicious! Overall I was so impressed with my meal that I tried out the Chinatown location of Founding Farmers. Spoiler alert -- I like my steak frites more than my goat cheese burger.

Wonderful service from this very busy restaurant! Glad we had reservations, but they are able to take many walk ins, seating is available inside, upstairs and down, and outside. Loved all the food! We had salads, meat loafs, pot roasts, a crop list platter, and a farmers platter. And don't forget the desserts! We had apple pies, carrot cake, and a bunch of their famous cookies! See the menu! Upstairs is mellow and almost elegant, with a great display of their founding farmers tome and decadent chocolate gifts, and there are more rr there. Elevator is right next to the rr line, which grows steadily downstairs. The beverage menu (with or without alcohol) is extensive;), do indulge, you deserve it! There are also several beverages with unlimited refills (lemonade, Arnold Palmer, iced tea). (There's blockaded construction on the street, so your ride share will have to drop you off in the street, and you'll need to walk up the street to the crosswalk, in order to get to the restaurant entrance.) Enjoy!

Never had a bad meal at Founding Farmers! Street parking around is available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating options available, will have occasional chirping visitors outdoors, but not too crazy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had reservations for early Sunday, plenty of seating so not a concern. Friendly staff quickly seated and order out promptly. Attentive staff ensures needs are taken care of. Hash good mix of protein with crisp fresh veggies as well. Eggs cooked perfectly for a great way to start the day! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Casual atmosphere here to enjoy meeting with friends to catch up or just a solo enjoyable meal![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I have been to a Founding Farmers in a different state before. It was pretty good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location in Foggy Bottom is cute. Parking is located on the street or public lots. You could also choose to take the metro in and walk. It is not a horrible walk, a few blocks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend booking a reservation. We were seated within 10-15 minutes of our reservation. The food met all my expectations. The biscuits were fresh, and paired with jam. The bananas foster french toast was so sweet as to be expected, and so flavorful!. The thickness for the bread allowed for a soft center but a crispy exterior. But, my honestly my favorite was the blueberry pancakes really hit the spot. They may have been so simple but boy were they perfect. The breakfast tacos with the salsa also fantastic! That salsa was nice and thick and not watery. Our meals were great! No complaints. Our waitress was very attentive, and on top of things. She was always making sure we were taking care of. We really enjoyed our meal here and plan to return.

My first weekend brunch here in DC was beyond my expectations. So much so that I went back the next day for more. If there was a Founding Farmers Restaurant near me, I would be a regular. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is ample seating both inside and outside. I particularly like sitting outside on warm sunny days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Whilst enjoying my iced mocha coffee I shared a plate of hot and crisp Uncle Buck's beignets. It took me by surprise how excellent they were. The caramel, chocolate and raspberry sauces really put them over the top! I've had the breakfast street tacos, founding father's breakfast, beef pastrami hash, Maine blueberry compote waffle, side of French toast and mini farmers salad. There was not one breakfast item that I didn't love. Service here is top notch and they go out of their way to make sure your meal is perfect. The food quality here is exceptional.

Ok I'm not one for giving ANOTHER Five Stars to a restaurant that has 22k reviews but when you earn it, you earn it!!! Founding Farmers is EVERYTHING it's cracked up to be! [[HIGHLIGHT]]While many DC eateries can feel stuffy this dining room felt homely and welcoming with its wood decor and cabin vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got into DC late after 9 hrs of traveling and were hungry! We left our hotel nearby and saw this place on the corner with the clever DC punny name. When we saw that 22k people decided to review and give it almost perfect scores we had to try it and so flag we did! We were sat immediately by the two friendly hostesses and our outstanding server Ricardo visited with us for a little before helping us breakdown the menu. I had a genuinely difficult time choosing a selection with the farm to table freshness making everything look so good! Ricardo made it clear he loves his job and the food and asked clarifying questions before we ordered our meal with crossed fingers. We landed on an incredible and well portioned burger with fries, the highly popular chicken and waffles, and my order of grilled catfish with cheese grits and fresh green beans. WOW...my catfish was grilled to perfection and had a mango pico on top for that sweet kick. The grits were cooked fantastic as well and came with a healthy (not really healthy probably but delicious) portion next to the freshest, sweetest, and best green beans I've had since my grandmothers off the farm in Tennessee! Finally the chicken and waffles were served with pasta style Mac and Cheese, green beans, two waffles and four pieces of fried chicken! I hate when chicken and waffles offer tenders and these four pieces were moist and lightly breaded rather than crunchy with batter. They melted in your mouth. At the End of the Day, when I travel, I tend to diversify my choices of where I eat and rarely go back. In this case however, Founding Farmers has found a customer for life when I'm in the DC area and deserves every star it receives for the food, service by Ricardo, and southern charm around the entire establishment.

I'm from California and came here for the first time yesterday...and oh my goodness!!! Everything was amazing! The enchiladas I ordered were the best enchiladas I've eaten! They remind me of the enchiladas in Morelia, Mexico. Extremely authentic, and that's coming from someone who's half Mexican. The steak was perfectly cooked. We also had the biscuits which were great! The service was great and the restaurant was busy but peaceful. We made another reservation for today. Can't wait!

1000% local sourced and homemade. Every single things here tastes like it was picked out of a garden and made in a kitchen that day. My waffle was flaky and delicious. The blueberry compote tasted organic and delicious. My wife and my friend both devoured their meals and drinks. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. Our party of 3 was sat within 10 minutes even when they were busy. I absolutely recommend checking this place out during your visit to DC. One of the best brunch spots in town.

    Best peanut butter cup ever
    Dan S.

By sheer providence, Founding Farmers has delivered me from a 25-year confectionery melancholy brought on by the tragic decline of the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Their house-made "knockoff" is, in fact, no knockoff at all. It is a triumph. The peanut butter, the chocolate, the texture. All of it now superier to what Reese's once was before its unfortunate descent into mediocrity. They also offer their own version of a Twix, which is just splendid.

Apple pie , ice cream ! Its Forth of July weekend ! How appropriate!

Great meal, Farm to Table , very wholesome food baked from scratch. We have the Yankee Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, side of asparagus and also the cornbread with honey butter. Topped it off with hot Apple pie with vanilla ice cream ! So yummy. Kendra was a great waitress!

    Devil-ish Eggs ($12.99)
    Ameya B.

This place showed up as one of the most reviewed and poplar places in DC, so we decided to check it out and made brunch reservations. We were seated 10 mins past our reservation time, but in a requested sunny outdoor space, on a rather nippy day in DC. Menu was all American comfort food, and our order consisted of Devil-ish Eggs ($12.99) and Chicken Pot Pie ($22.99). Food arrived within 15-mins of ordering, and while the service was quick, the food was just average. Nothing really stood out, other than the great service and friendly staff. Noise levels on the average end and easy to have conversations. The indoor seating looked more inviting than the outdoor one, especially the booth seating right behind their bar, which was quite lively too.

The music was great, playing plenty of hits from the 2010s, and the service was fantastic! Everyone was friendly and accommodating, an easy 5/5 for service. The bathrooms were not the cleanest, but the restaurant itself was well maintained. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered the American burger, and the beef tasted a bit off. The patty was not fully smashed and tasted overcooked. It was also dry, I had to dip every bite in ketchup. The sauce inside was bland, and overall, the burger lacked flavor and texture. The side salad, however, was fantastic! The arugula was fresh and generously portioned, and the dressing was delicious. But I didn't order a burger just to enjoy the side salad more than the main dish. With such a small menu and burgers making up a significant portion of it, this was a bit disappointing. The service and atmosphere were great, but the burger itself really missed the mark for me.

The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

I had the corned beef hash, with was the most different interpretation of this classic dish that I had ever eaten. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious! But my first time seeing it presented as follows: both the corned beef and the potatoes were cooked in small, separate cubes, not blended or mashed together. As such, a whole new textural experience for the dish. They have both ample inside and sidewalk tables, and great service.

The recommendation to pair the honey with the cheese on the biscuits was excellent and took an already great item to another level. The broccolini, coffee, and espresso shot were not our favorites of the evening, but honestly, the other dishes were so good that we quickly forgot about them. Every course seemed to have something memorable to offer. The bartender service was stellar throughout the night, attentive without being intrusive, and helped make the experience even more enjoyable. We left full, satisfied, and already talking about what we'd order on our next visit. Looking forward to coming back.

They made sure to keep our table clean and gave us new silverware and plates before or entrees arrived. Any food that we did not finish was boxed up and put into bags for us. The manager was actively walking around the restaurant, making sure that every guest were enjoying their dinner. The food was good all around but there are some dishes that outshine the rest. The ribeye and New York strip were very good. The butchers steak I got for my son and he didn't really like it, it was lacking flavor. If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. The pimento cheese is good with them but it becomes a little too decadent. Overall I'm happy we made the decision to come here, we will be back soon.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

If that Coke wasn't a Pepsi, it was definitely a Coke Zero or Diet Coke. It tasted awful. Now, the food. The fries were pretty decent, but the au jus that came with my French dip wasn't hot, and it wasn't enough for the whole sandwich. The bread is supposed to get lost in the au jus with every bite. I had to ask for another boat. The menu said the sandwich had Gruyère, but if it was there, I couldn't taste it. I could taste horseradish and arugula. It wasn't worth the $33 menu price. The ambiance is a bit loud. The restaurant is very reverb-y, so I heard lots of talking (though some of it was probably due to the music's being too loud), but the waitstaff didn't compensate, so it was hard to hear their voices.
