The cornbread was interesting. Innovative in theory. Not fully in execution. The loose corn inside felt like the move. Like somebody tried to give it texture and farm-table personality. But the bite did not really land. It leaned more curious than craveable. Sweet. Soft. A little busy. Like a remix that respected the original but forgot the hook. 5 STARZ first first server Enrique! We have been here twice during our trip and had a lot of questions and requests. Enrique was helpful, friendly and answered our questions with pride in his company! I had bacon and eggs, hashbrowns and English muffin. All great breakfast fare. My sister's eggs and cheesy grits were delicious as were the pancakes. I am not a fan of pure maple syrup which is what they serve with the pancakes but the berry compote that comes with the beignets is a perfect substitute for traditional syrup! Beignets were fresh and hot when they came out, a tiny bit crispy on the outside which was perfect for the tender fluffiness of the inside. The very compote dip was my favorite but you also get chocolate and caramel. Another nice treat is their selection of chocolates that they make. Got a sampler on my first trip with Enrique's help and came back to get the peanut butter cups because they were so good. Ambiance: hip yet homey. I came here for dinner with my colleagues on a Wednesday night and they were pretty busy so we had to make sure we made a reservation in advance. The service was pretty good though. A little delayed but it was really busy so I can understand. The food was amazing. Whenever I'm in DC area I come in for their cornbread and to try some additional things on their menu. This time I got their gnocchi and I was very satisfied with the flavor of cream and mushrooms paired with the gnocchi. The only thing was that it was a bit too salty for me, but next time I might ask for less salt. I ended the night with a hot green tea that came in a beautiful teacup as well as a slice of the apple pie. I'm grateful to Founding Farmers for supplying my family with Thanksgiving dinner this year! There were a few restaurants that were offering turkey dinner options day of. I found founding farmers to be the most authentic plate that I would want for the holiday. It was a little pricey, but appreciating the convenience of not having to cook, and the comparison of a few other restaurants who were also on Uber Eats, I gladly will do this again next year. I wish there was a preference on the meat that you could order, the breast was a little drier than I would have loved, and I would prefer that they had an option to at least order a side of macaroni and cheese. Because their venue is purely Thanksgiving plates and chocolates, it probably allowed them to be very efficient for the day and remain open, while getting staff home to their family. read more

Our servers were great. Very prompt and helpful. The food came out on time. They do NOT have a gluten free menu FYI. The hibiscus soda was phenomenal as was the mint and lemon seltzer. 12/7/2025 - my first time here. There was a wait. I made reservation for one at 11:15 am. I checked in and about two minutes later I was escorted to my table. I ordered a drip coffee for $5 and the waffles and chicken. It arrived about 15 minutes later. The chicken was moist, with crispy skin and was bone less! I wasn't expecting this. The 4 waffle items were soft and tasty. They had cinnamon syrup which I used and was great. The scrambled eggs I asked for well done and it was perfect. All for $18. Founding Farmers was at the top of our list of restaurants to try in DC and we made a reservation for Sunday Brunch. We were seated shortly after our reservation time and the restaurant was bustling. We really liked the decor and found it to be bright and attractive. We ordered coffee and hot chocolate, but were served chocolate milk instead, and the coffee took about 20 minutes to arrive. After the mistake was corrected and our drinks arrived, I found the hot chocolate to be absolutely one of the best I've ever had. We started with the beignets, which were outstanding. They were even better than beignets we had in NOLA and I would definitely order them again if we go back to Founding Farmers. I had been looking forward to trying the chicken and waffles, which lived up to my expectations, but they forgot to include syrup. Again it took an extraordinarily long time before it was delivered and I was nearly finished with my meal by the time it arrived. All in all, I would go back to Founding Farmers. The food was so high quality and delicious that it outshined the mediocre service. Glad we visited and will most likely return here on our next visit to DC. read more

The food was fresh however the salmon slightly overcooked and dry, but the rest of the meal wonderful. I even had a cocktail. The restaurant was busy and got busier as the night progressed. You can tell this is a "happening place" for evening meet ups after work. A lively atmosphere and full bar with well appointed decor and great waitstaff. The place was crowded by the time I left and there was little to no space to move at the entrance which was fully accessible but the doors extremely heavy to get out of and the valet no help at all. I will never do that again with this restaurant only because they have a really bad bird problem and birds were actually coming to our table and eating crumbs from our food off The table. The Farmhouse Platter had two small pieces of fried chicken, two cheeseburger sliders, barbeque pork ribs, coleslaw and escabeche salad. I liked the ribs and sliders. We came for the beignets, and they didn't disappoint. They were definitely every bit as good as those in New Orleans, and I'm glad we had four to take home. The coffee was also delicious. We usually drink dark roast at home. Their house coffee is medium roast, but rich and full of flavor. I ordered the beet and goat cheese hash with a poached egg. Came on a Friday for lunch and had to wait about 20 minutes. The restaurant itself was very cute, very much on theme with the name Founding Fathers. The Yankee Pot Roast was decent. The fried onions on top actually worked perfectly with the savory sauce. The meat was very tender, literally falling apart. Everything was good and worked together for this dish. The sauce was maybe just too spicy, however. Their homemade sodas though, I would say maybe steer clear. We wanted to get some coffee beans but they were out when we asked. With two floors, there are plenty of tables for small to large parties. For those looking to enjoy the bar, you'll find that downstairs where most of the hustle and bustle is. We were seated upstairs and it was a nice calm environment for our party to enjoy our meal. We were helped by Mina who was great in welcoming us as first time visitors. The service was good as expected although one of our drinks was missing until we chased on it. The menu was pretty extensive and spans across a variety of breakfast and brunch menu items. Our party got a good mix but there were definitely some highlights. For those with a sweet tooth, the beignets and french toast are must-gets! The french toast are like no other I've tried as they're shaped like small little fritters which means there are more crispy surfaces to go with that fluffy interior which is also filled with cream. The beignets are fluffy as well and served with chocolate, caramel, and raspberry sauces. Their biscuits are fluffy and pair well with gravy, butter, or jam. The other menu items that we ordered, Chef Joe Scramble and Chicken and Waffles, were all solid options and executed well. The flavor and texture profiles are spot on and enhance the experience. For the caffeine motivated, their house coffee is great and rich in flavor. The mocha is also infused with their decadent chocolate. Overall, Founding Farmers has solid food backed by members of the farming community, and the home grown taste and care of the food shows! Wow this place was really good!! I heard about this place before coming to DC and it did not disappoint. It gets pretty crowded throughout the day so make sure to come early before peak dining times or else be prepared to wait for a bit. We came here on a Friday night and waited for 45 minutes. The food here is pretty good and has more of a comfort feeling to it. The portions were pretty big and tasted great. I really enjoyed the pork chop and the shrimp gumbo (?).
