We went there after a long day a COTA. We wanted to try something new since we are new to the area on our way home. It was 7 pm on a Saturday night, and as we walked in there were at least 4 tables open, and no one else waiting, but the hostess had us sit down, and told us that it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I watched 5 groups of people leave, and after about 20 minutes we were seated. Again I noticed at least 7 or 8 tables empty. Our waitress was nice. My husband's cranberry vodka drink had no hint of vodka in it. The food was ok, not great and they had put jalapenos on almost everything. (Not my favourite thing) The menu didn't have any normal choices, like grilled chicken. The 2 things we wanted to order, they did not have available. The Bison shroom burger and the Berkshire pork chop. Overall not impressed with their menu and the food. We will NOT go back to this restaurant again. read more

I went to foxhole a few weeks ago with a coworker and absolutely adored it. I had the grilled cheese and venison chili lunch box which was absolutely divine. However, today when I made that same order to go, I was epically disappointed. When I opened my food box the grilled cheese didn't even look the same, let alone taste the same. There was no bacon on my sandwich nor was there pickles anywhere to be found. To make matters worse, they put so much onions on there that it was like a sandwich slip and slide between the onions, cheese, and tomato. It was an absolute mess. The venison chili was great as always. It is spicy but has a lot of flavor, which makes for a beautiful combination, one that is rare to find outside of cooking it at home yourself. Overall, the place has great food, but DO NOT ORDER TO GO. The first grilled cheese I had there was like Jesus crafted it himself, but the one I got today was sub par at best. You can't leave out bacon and expect any dish to be as good, just saying. read more

I've been to Foxhole a handful of times since they opened and never felt compelled to leave a review before today. I was there on Black Friday and had the best experience. The staff was ALL so very friendly and accommodating. From the hostess to the bartenders and servers, you can tell that everyone loves their job (or does a great job of acting like they do-lol). The food is also really good. I'd recommend trying their Brussel sprouts (I know, not everyone likes them but these are pretty darn tasty) ;) and you can't go wrong with their burger. My husband and I have been here a couple of times for a Thank God it's Friday happy hour. We had great drinks and choices from the happy hour menu. Although they don't have my husband's beer of choice (Coors Light) on tap, we still enjoyed the food, drinks, and the ambience. However, this time we were celebrating our son's birthday and arrived with 6 adults and an almost 3 yr old. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Our server, Jeremy, was outstanding. We had a variety of dishes: Fish Special (sort of a Chilean Sea bass) which got high marks, a gigantic hamburger, again high marks, the 8 oz tenderloin filet (mine and quite good), and the Quail Salad which my husband loved. We also got a dozen oysters (the price shocked me but they were fresh and high quality), shrimp cocktails, and the hummus assortment. My son chose the lamb shank and was thrilled with the taste. He said I should cook all our roast dinners like the lamb... The only dish that wasn't above and beyond was the hummus thing. The French Onion hummus was our favorite and the edamame was not very tasty. You get some barbecuey type chips, big slices of veggies, and some tortilla like bread with the hummus trio. (sorry...can't remember the name of the bread thing you eat hummus on!!) The manager kindly gave my son a gratis dessert for his birthday so we all enjoyed the S'Mores. Yum! That was a nice thing to do. We will definitely go back. The food is good, the wait staff are excellent, and the ambience is really nice. Waiter was a fabulous wine steward and his food recommendations were spot on. Highlights were alligator sliders, and the steak filet and potatoes entree. We tried the peanut desert, new and interesting, and chocolate cake, an excellent fudge center. Best part of the night- my teenage picky eater loved the alligator sliders. This place took forever to open, so we have been eagerly waiting to eat here. The decor is nice. Bennigans is definitely gone. We sat in the bar area, and we're helped immediately. It's their first week so I understand the importance of giving customers info, but there is a fine line. We were having a date night, and it took the waiter a while to get the cue that if we have any questions will definitely ask him. We started with a cocktail, the Gin Mill. Perfect summer cocktail! We ordered food to share. 1. Kobe sloppy Joe sliders: Best thing we had. The buns were sweet, and the bread and butter pickle really made the dish. The coleslaw served with the sliders was also great, the red onion could definitely be sliced much thinner. 2. Slap Fries: These were more or less potato slices. They had a spicy mayonnaise, which was quite good. 3. Kobe Burger: in our world, a burger that does not fit the bun is a crime. This burger did want. It had a great flavor, and was cooked well, but we each had a ring of bun left. 4. Brussels Sprouts: 2nd best thing. Love that there are thinly sliced beets in this dish. I have to say that I wasn't horribly impressed with the level of service nor the price vs quality of food. Initially it took a good amount of time to get our drink order, and when we went to order some appetizers, both our primary desired dish and our backup were sold out. A little heads up when we sat down would have been nice especially since we waited 15+ minutes to place that order. Restaurant entrees start at $15 making it a $$$ not a $$. Water wasn't brought until after our drinks. Instead of coming up to the table, the server leaned toward us with an extended arm. Flat wear was taken and was told I would get another set. Never happened. Server never asked how it was, but did ask if we needed anything. I should have known when he was up front smacking on some food when we walked in. Chicken had no flavor. You have to layer the seasoning. Depending on the sauce for an entrée you have to pick up with your fingers because of the bones doesn't make sense. It doesn't cost that much more to use a bone free cut. At $15 a serving, why wouldn't you do that? Fries tasted like licking a salt block. You are selling an experience that should be done better than what we can do at home. read more

A solid 4 stars for this local restaurant/bar in NW Austin. Went there to meet up with a friend for happy hour, and overall good experience. Like the other reviews mentioned, prices are a tad on the higher side. I got one of all the tacos, which are $4 a piece, got the trio dip, and 2 IPAs. Food and staff are great! They should get the fans working properly on the patio, summer is here and without fans their patio is almost unbearable (even in the shade at 6:00pm). After having 3 good lunch experiences at the FoxHole, my wife has been wanting to go check it out with me. I decided yesterday to take her to brunch at the Fox Hole, which was not a good introduction to the restaurant. The Good: Salmon Eggs Benedict, this was the saving grace of the brunch. Typical Buffet choices, Migas, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage The Not expected: The brunch buffet had an interesting / kind of strange choices. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Macaroni & Cheese, Fritters, Waffles & Chicken sliders, Pork Sliders, The Bad: No high price point meats other than the Salmon Eggs Benedict. With so many brunch options in town once the price point is 17.99 per person there should be better options. Most places at this price range point have peel & shrimp, or a sliced beef station. The only interesting meat option was the Venison Chili & the Salmon Benedict The pastry I tried appeared to be stale as well. The Fox Hole has priced its brunch to compete with likes of Jack Allen's Kitchen, but does not live up to those standards. I explained to my wife that ordering off the menu has proved 3 times to provide great food, however now she has the Foxhole's reputation marred with their underwhelming brunch options. She explained that if we were to go out for a dinner, she would unlikely choose FoxHole because of her impression of brunch. My Advice to FoxHole: FoxHole your brunch is not a good representation of your brand and the good Farm to Table food you have on your menu. You need to either step up your brunch game to match the results your patrons are accustomed to getting off your menu, or kill off brunch all together because it will sour peoples impression of your establishment. read more

Our food took one hour to come out. That in itself is shocking. The manager was apologetic and said she would make it right and comp the meal. She offered free dessert. The bill came and we had $40 comped off our meal. Our entire bill was then $147. The $40 included the dessert which was $27. We're not interested in free food but if you offer to "make it right" after ONE HOUR of waiting on food then $13 is not the way to do. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. read more

Had to try their brunch because of all of the reviews and five thumbs up! It's a buffet and while I don't usually do buffets this one was incredible. You can order eggs benedict worth salmon that is included in the price so I did and they were great. The waffles were to die for with homemade whipped cream. And I love the ferris with gouda! My mom and I came in for a late lunch and honestly I was not dressed for this type of place. I do have to note that we just stumbled upon this place and were not expecting it to be this type of place so that's my excuse. Its pricey. Considering my attire, again I was not expecting the prices. HOWEVER, the food is delicious, above the rest. I ordered a grilled freaking cheese sandwich. It was the most gourmet grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had. My mom order chicken florentine. Superb. We were suckered into dessert, and ordered the Creme brûlée with chocolate mousse and caramel ice cream. Waitress notified us that everything is made from scratch and you can taste it. My only complaint is that the waitress informed us that everything is made to be spicy and my mom and I can't take the heat. She did say, since everything is made from scratch, menu items can be made to be not so spicy. If you love spice, this is your place! read more
