We came in a Saturday and was seated pretty quickly. The staff and our waitress were great and knowledgeable with menu. I had the Pasta Tutto Mare. It was very good. The sauce was rich and creamy. I can't remember the dish my husband had but he said the flavors were good although the mushrooms were undercooked. The portions are big and we both took another serving home for dinner the next day. I was in STL visiting family and went to have dinner with a group of 10 people, so we were a decent sized party. Our waitress was pretty quick to get our drinks to us and take our order. The menu has a nice selection of food to choose from, due to the size of our party we were seated in the back section of the bar area so it was very loud and we had a hard time trying to talk to each other without shouting but no big deal. My husband and I went here once--and as soon as we can save up a boatload of money, he wants to go again! While you can eat on a semi-expensive side more akin to some restaurants, some of the prices of the food make it very difficult to not spend a lot of money. (It was just my husband and I and the total bill, shared appetizer and no desserts, after taxes and tip was around $75-$80!) That being said... Oh. My. God. The food. The food was like nothing I have ever put in my mouth. While the husband got the Steak Modiga ($33 on its own!) I stuck with my old favorite of the Country fried chicken. Now I've eaten a lot of those in my lifetime... But I don't know if they made a pact with the devil or what, but I have never tasted anything so good! Likewise, my husband's Steak Modiga was so good he still longs for it. I'm pretty sure if it had legs, I'd be single right now and it would be him and Modiga strolling hand-in-steak, skipping down the road between bites. I now understand what the true cost--or value--of the food is: The flavor! It might be pricey, but nothing as delicious has ever--or since--touched my tongue. The boneless bbq wing appetizer was also really delicious, but had nothing on our entrees. While you CAN eat for under thirty per person, it's very easy (depending on what you order) to go over. The portions are a good size, the favor is there and the wait staff seemed to appear just at the moment you needed something even if they seemed to be missing the rest of the time. We ate there at a strange time--the outside was packed with people hanging out, but the inside was pretty quiet and empty. But we definitely want to go back someday. Service from waiter was excellent, she was extremely nice and attentive. the reason for the two stars Is because the food is extremely over priced for the quality. Restaurant offers to many range of options from Italian, southern cooking, and steak house. They need to pick one and focus on making it the best they can instead of being "OK" at everything. Met here with a large group (13 people) and the experience was great!! There was one waitress assigned to our fun, laughing and a bit loud(er) group and she was awesome. Each of us ordered drinks, appetizers, dinner and a number of rounds post-meal. The restaurant was busy but you would have never known, our service was outstanding. Ordered carry out tonight from them. Got there a little late and food was still not ready, which is usually not a big deal. But we returned home and the food was horrible! The trashed wings were undercooked (we actually had to cook them more in the oven). The reason our order was not ready on time was because they were still cooking the wings, big disappoint! We went a couple of weeks ago. The food was great, but we had terrible service and were shocked that employees (especially food servers) were not wearing masks. Our server cleared dirty dishes from another table and then brought our drinks with no hand sanitizer or hand washing in between. She insisted on packaging our leftovers for us when we asked her not too. She got incredibly close to talk to us. Also, the service in general was just horrible. She took a 20 minute break in the middle of our meal which she actually admitted to. I emailed Gianino's about this visit and gave them plenty of time to respond, but have not had a reply. read more

I love supporting local businesses. A couple friends and I stopped in for drinks and appetizers. Our server was also the bartender so she got very busy and a little difficult to track down. Sub par food lately. We ordered pick up and our meals pretty much helped us decide never to order from this Gianino's again. ordered the Franky gees house salad when I opened it it was all lettuce a little cheese and a few mushrooms with a half cup if that of salad dressing. Also ordered wings which were horrible dried out. My husband ordered a cheeseburger which was raw in the middle the bun was wet and the french fries were soggy. So never again at this location. I was here for lunch and had a Reuben and a House salad. They were both delicious, but I couldn't finish either. They give you a lot of food, so if you leave hungry, it's your fault. was hungry and wanted a strong drink....stopped by here....the food was awesome...had a meatball sandwich and fries.....would certainly have it again...it was big enough to share and very flavorful....I ordered a cosmopolitian with grey goose vodka, a splash of gran mariner, and fresh lime squeeze with the cranberry waved over it....it did appear this was a regular bar so I figured they could handle my diva ass and get me my drink.....well---i guessed wrong.......it was red as can be and i did not enjoy it---piss warm too...so I will not go there to enjoy a martini drink again...learned my lesson---will go for food/beer.....also a little rowdy and smoky in the bar area....the restaurant side lacks any atmosphere..... good food not so good BAR.....step it up on the quality of drinks and I would feel differently... read more

We went back here after the first time of eating here (my first review of the place) and it was like night and day. Now, i don't know if it was a new server or what but it took her 15 minutes to come over and even greet us and get out drinks. Normally that wouldn't bother us if that was the only folly that occured. We then had to wait longer for her to come get our orders, get the food and the bill. Usually, i don't mind waiting for certain things because it's busy but when you notice that other servers are moving quickly and doing what they are supposed to at their sections and then notice yours not doing it.. it does tend to get old fast. Had an excellent experience at Frankie G's. I had a large party (30 people) due for a surprise dinner for my mom. The original place we had planned for backed out of accommodating us. So with a 3 hour notice, the manager of Frankie's welcomed our party with open arms! Dinner last night. Uncomfortably hot in the bar, waiting area and restaurant but they were having a hard time keeping restaurant cool with packed house and temps still in the 100's well into the night. Had the Diablo Shrimp (blackened, grilled Cajun shrimp served over a diablo orzo pasta with mushrooms in a buttery garlic sauce). Typically served with red pepper flakes for extra heat, but waitress suggested without and she was spot on. This dish is fantastic. Just the right amount of heat but so flavorful Highly recommend. I thought this was a delightful place, it was my first time here. I was very surprised to find a restaurant like this in a strip mall in Imperial. We had a large group reservation, and our party kept getting larger. You could tell they weren't super pleased with us growing- who would?? But they handled it with grace and didn't make us feel too bad. They were very accommodating. The Gianino's salad is probably one of the best salads I have ever eaten. The dressing tastes so light, the bits of provel cheese...ummm so creamy. The bread was softer than most Italian restaurants I've been too- I liked this better, probably would have only had one piece if it were hard and crusty. I also ordered the seafood tutto mare. The portions are so large! I was able to eat for a couple more meals. It was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone heading to St. Louis via I-55. read more

We had lunch here on Memorial Day and we had been there for dinner once before. Let me start by saying that I love a good house salad, and theirs was DELICIOUS. So yummy that I wished I would have ordered it for my meal! So to start, the place is very nice and well kept, cute place with an outdoor patio. Everyone was very nice and service was quick. After the amazing salad, I got an entree salad for lunch (a little salad crazy, I know!) and it was also good. The portions were huge, plenty for two people to split. I had the spicy buffalo chicken salad but swapped out fried for grilled (its the healthy runner in me, I can't help it!) and everything was good. Ok last time I was here the goofy music was no longer being played thank goodness. The food is still decent and crazy huge portions. If you are really into getting take home boxes of your meal this is the place for you. They serve portion sizes that no one person should eat at one sitting. We've been to this restaurant multiple times in the past but most recently was for my wife's birthday. We had a group of 16 and were sat in the back room area. They didn't have the Blues game on but immediately put it on once asked. We ordered drinks, I was the only one to order a beer. They had a huge 36 oz draft for $5 at the time. Everyone else got their sodas and waters and we ordered our food. The beer took about 15 minutes to make its way to the table, but I was there to enjoy one beer so it didn't bother me too much. The salads came out about 15 minutes after ordering. The main entrees came out about 30-35 minutes after ordering. I had the House Burger and it was phenomenal. Portions, portions, portions! You will not leave here hungry. My husband and I had date night tonight. The trashed wings are excellent. They are so meaty and the trashed fry give them a great taste. We had carbonara and it was very creamy with so much bacon. We shared a plate and both left full. This restaurant has restaurant and bar seating along with a great patio that has couches and a fireplace. Gianino's is a great place for families, dates, happy hour, just about anything. The food is amazing and plentiful. The service is always excellent. Our waitress, Ahna, was friendly and efficient. Great experience, we will be back. read more
