Spaghetti Pasta with Meat Sauce & Fish

You walk into a pizzeria in the front but should venture into the back to the restaurant where it is a cozy local mom and pop style great Italian restaurant. The owner is an older Italian woman who is always walking around the restaurant making sure everyone is doing well. It is not as fancy as some Italian places in the neighborhood but if you want good home made Italian food go here. The menu is extensive unlike some other restaurants in the area. The fresh bread is baked on premises and served warm with butter. The salad that you can order included in some meals is the perfect size and the dressing is true home made Italian dressing just like my Nonna (Italian for grandmother) used to make. The pasta Sinatra with white sauce had many pieces of shrimp and muscles, and was delicious. The baked ziti and ravioli are always delicious (recommend cheese ravioli) which comes with plenty of cheese on top. There are so many wonderful dishes, the chicken parmigiana and chicken scarpiello are scrumptious.

Absolutely amazing pizza! 100% chefs kiss & the waiter recommended wine sangria with my Margherita pizza. Brought my friend here for her first time & she said the pizza makes her want to move to NYC! We say in the back of the house to rest a little while sightseeing & the decor & ambiance made you feel right at home. Will def be back again!

    Chicken Francese

This is a hidden gem. You enter and it looks like a little fast-eat pizza shop, but the back door opens up to an old school classical and intimate nyc italian restaurant. I ordered the chicken francese with linguini which was so tender and juicy and sauce was cooked to perfection (mind you this is one of my favorite dishes ever- hard critic) and fried calamari which was also great. Staff was super attentive.

Bad pizza and rude employees. Went here late one night and one of the guys in there tried to overcharge me. Stay away.

Lovely neighborhood staple. Their Sole Francese is my favorite in the city. It feels frozen in time and it's so comforting.

When we entered the restaurant and took the elevator up to the restaurant, we were delighted to find free wine provided for us to pour in the elevator. Admittedly, it was red wine, so not my favorite, and it did taste cheap, but still appreciated. To start off, we ordered the onion torta, focaccia, and smashed potatoes. The onion torta was surprisingly good and tasted like a form of french onion soup. As a focaccia enthusiast, the focaccia was fluffy and delicious. We also got the charred beans, carrots, ravioli, tagliatelle, ravioli, and trout to share. The charred beans were surprisingly the long beans and not the smaller ones we expected. However, they were very juicy and better than we thought they would be. The rigatoni resembled cacio e pepe with its pepperiness, the tagliatelle tasted like standard red sauce, but i did enjoy the ravioli and the ricotta inside. For dessert, we had the basque cheesecake which was alright, but I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake. Overall, we had a great time at Ci Siamo and I would definitely recommend ordering the focaccia and onion torta and we could have skipped the carrots, beans, trout, and tagliatelle.

If you answered "yes" to all three, then Fumo is a place to seriously consider. The restaurant is bright and comfortable. The service is fast and attentive. The menu has lots of excellent choices. The portions are generous. The prices are very reasonable. There you go ! Fumo is for you, (at least the Chelsea location) is for you. Any drawbacks ? youi ask.....well, yes, there is one, and it should be cosnidered. The restaurant is so so so popular that the noise level can be a bit ..... shall we say "daunting." This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.
