This is a cute little restaurant, it kind of had a hole in the wall feel to it. We tried the pastrami cheesesteak and the mushroom cheesesteak with BBQ sauce added and we got the philly straws which were super good. The cheesesteaks were pretty good, I don't remember what the ones from the Philly tasted like so I can't compare. The people working were very helpful and friendly as well. Note much decor but excellent Philly cheesesteaks for the right price and wait was about 10 minutes.

Never been to Philadelphia, but this was easily the best Philly cheese steak I've ever had. It was hot, flavorful, and the roll was soft and fresh. The fries were really good as well. I also really dig the ambiance, it looks and feels like how a Philly cheese steak restaurant should. It is not overly polished and lacking personality like a lot of the chain places you will visit. I was rude and should have asked for the name of the friendly guy serving me, but I'll at least pay him compliment here... He greeted everyone as they entered, thanked them as they left, and was helpful when I asked for advice on what to order. Nice! I'm new to DFW and I miss all of the Italian beefs I enjoyed while living in Chicago. But, this has filled a beef sandwich void and is so far, one of my favorite restaurants in DFW. Keep your wallet and waistline safe, and never eat here. As a caveat, I have only ever eaten a cheesesteak in Philly once, and that was a long time ago, so I can't speak to how 'authentic' they are, but I can say they're really good steak sandwiches. The proportions of toppings is spot-on. Don't but put off my the establishment. It's a bit small, crowded, hot, and run-down but some of the best food comes out of holes in the wall. Doordash will deliver from here, at the time of writing this. My go-to is the mushroom cheesesteak. I, personally, add mayo but that's me and I'm not from Philly nor do I care how authentic it is to add. The 'onion straws' are fantastic crunchy little onion chips. Lastly, my discovery for today and the reason I was spurred to write this, is the Italian. It has capricola and genoa on it, like a proper Italian, but instead of mortadella they swap in pastrami. Pastrami. On an Italian. My dudes, pastrami does not belong on an Italian, nor does pepperoni. I have grown up my entire life eating Italians, as they are my favorite cold sub. I have strong opinions. That being said, Fred's 'Italian' is freaking good. Lettuce, tomato, onion, capricola, genoa, provalone, and the weird pastrami -- but the default order also comes with banana peppers and a smear of chopped pickled hot peppers. Lovely, tangy, spicy, zing. I will happily eat this even while I grump about them calling it an Italian. read more

So this little joint doesn't have the best decor, nor do they crank the AC down low so you really have to get adjusted... but honestly this is a Philly Cheesesteak joint. And that is the thing that they do get right. Excellent Cheesesteak, a bit greasy but then again what kind of excellent Philly Cheesesteak isn't ? The bread is soft and yummy, the meat is plentiful and the cheese is well melted and grilled. I thoroughly enjoyed my philly Cheesesteak sandwich. I also got a side order of fries to split with some friends. I must say, I have been to the Plano location and this location is actually almost exactly the same as far as food, decor, and setting goes.
