As a Cowboys fan, I've never had the desire to visit Philly. But, I do love cheesesteaks. I can't say how authentic these cheesesteaks are, but they're GD delicious. This guy knows how to make a Philly cheese steak. Possibly the best in Texas. Served with Utz potato chips and Hank's root beer. Fries are as well just as delicious. Hamburgers not so much, don't stray from the steak items on the menu. But this little hidden treasure I never would have believed was only a mile from my home. Ok so being from Philly we were excited to try Fred's, love the decor and fred is awesome! He made our cheesesteaks and they were amazing! Just like home! However on our second trip someone other than Fred made our cheesesteaks. We got home and I opened my car door, the grease had soaked through the paper bag and both cheese steaks fell out of the bottom and rolled down my driveway. So disappointed! Will definitely eat there again as long as Fred's making our cheese steaks! read more

Slow food, hot restaurant, mediocre food. The philly cheesesteak had absolutely no flavor and the place is completely disorganized. We were asked what we ordered 15 minutes after placing the order and then waiting another 10 minutes before we acutally got our orders. The restaurant is small and cramped and busy and this is usually a good sign, but I suppose I like my food to have flavor. This restaurant did not impress me. read more

Kid from the office came back from lunch and told me about his philly from Fred's. We both love a good a good sammie especially bahn mi so I trusted his opinion rolled up to Fred's. After checking the options I decided on a regular 6" combo. I wondered if it was going to be enuf but since I'm watching the caloric intake in preparation for the upcoming holiday gorge fest I thought I'd go with that. We'll, when my number was called I walked to to the window and looked at my lunch and thought, if that's 6" then I've been lying to my wife, and myself for a long time. It was more than big enuf and the flavor was ON. I tried it without the Fred's, then with and then with the Fred's hot. All were great but next time it's all with Fred's Hot Sauce. I just came back from Fred's Downtown Philly where the old owner is back. I've Grown up in this area my whole life not including working across the street for a Café Brazil for 4+ years. I've come to Fred's many times, countless times even. Me and my friends came in today after practice to come in and get a bite to eat. After we made our full order we initially thought we were going to get it to go but ended up eating it there. Suddenly the owner comes out from the back and starts ridiculing us about why were eating the food there. " do you know how much money I spend on the to go stuff ?" "Every time someone does something like this I loose money on this shit !" To even begin with the fact that I'm patronizing his establishment with my service and money ! He tries to embarrass me because I'm eating my food there . What a shame this place thinks they can come to a community where people have lived a long long time and treat them this way . From the staff bragging about there incarceration time to the manager watching how much sauce I pour . This isn't the way to treat your customers or earn business. read more

I can't believe this place has been around the corner for years now. The guys are all friendly and answered all the questions this newcomer had. The chicken Philly was very tasty, juicy and flavorful. I added ranch to my Philly to make it even better. I went for the modest 6 inch and could probably have gone for the bigger one. As soon as our food was brought to our table a man was there not sure if he was the manager or the owner or maybe the cook, but he explained why they served honey with the sweet potato fries, he caught me in the middle of smelling it, trying to figure out what it was. It smelled like syrup but tasted a little like cinnamon and it was delicious paired with the sweet potato fries. The inside is very small and no frills, I noticed 3 or 4 tables in the front area and the same amount in the back area which also had a TV. Always stop in when I'm in Carrollton, super authentic cheesesteak. My personal fav is the 10" #2 (double meat!) add mush, but they are all delicious. Great fries and burgers, too. Staff is always friendly. I stopped in a few weeks ago and had a cheesesteak. The first sign it was going to be good was the amount of people either eating or waiting on their food.
