First, I went because I wanted corned beef hash and had seen on their menu online that they have it. Well, apparently that is the *only* item on their menu that is not served after breakfast time. Which is all well and good, except for the part where there is absolutely no indication of this on the menu. Then, after I chose a different item (the corned beef sandwich, which is supposed to be served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard), I received the wrong sandwich. Twice. (The first time, what appeared to be a Reuben except it seemed to have no dressing and some onion sort of thing instead of sauerkraut; the second time, the same thing without the cheese.) I ate it the second time because I was hungry and sick of dealing with it and at least it no longer had Swiss cheese on it so at least I could stand it. But this is the first time I have *ever* had to send food back at a restaurant. As more minor points, the fries were amazingly bland and the plaza it's in has the worst traffic patterns I have ever seen, though the latter is worth putting up with for some of the other stuff in there. I was disappointed based on the other reviews. The attempt to emulate a diner atmosphere is a soulless Cranberry strip mall was the first major failure. Service was slow. 15 minutes for the server to come over and get our coffee order ( didn't ask or bring water. That was another 10 minutes to flag her done again). The food was average. Not bad. But not memorable. The Nutella French toast was dry and boring. The toast seemed to be sliced white bread. The egg breakfast was decent. The homefries were mushy and overly salted/spiced. I really enjoyed the food and service for breakfast. The eggs, bacon and sausage were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were large and well prepared. I enjoyed the oatmeal and I believe the biscuits are homemade. Hot tea was provided with a crafe that held two and a half cups. The server was attentive and cleared the table quickly. The freedom Square diner is definitely a go to spot for breakfast in Cranberry PA. Especially if you were in the mood for eggs Benedict or any other classic breakfast entrée. Everyone is super nice and the amount of time it takes to get your food is relatively fast (even on their busier days like Sunday). read more

It is a diner. You get diner food. Better than Denny's. They always get my eggs right, unlike Denny's that seems to think one must cook a scrambled egg until it is leather-dry. The wait staff here is awesome, very down home. The salad is iceberg and romaine, which is a drag...but as I said, it is a diner. The ranch dressing is homemade and awesome. read more

Over all this place is definitely a 4. The food is super good. It has a very home like feel. The menu is very large and has lots to pick from. We have come here a few different times. This places is always very busy. However, today was a 3 for a review. The drinks were very slow today. It seemed to be somewhat short staffed, so expect to wait some. It is well well worth it! I stopped by here earlier today with two coworkers for lunch. We arrived at the diner right around 11:30 and there was three other groups of people in front of us. Thankfully they had tables for all of us and so we were seated after only a short wait by the door. The inside of the Freedom Square Diner is actually much nicer than the diner in the name might suggest. This certainly wasn't your old 50's type diner as everything was bright and clean with newer tables and booths. After looking at both the regular menu and at the lunch specials, I ended up going with the turkey and avocado sandwich with fries off of the lunch specials. This specific sandwich came on toasted rye bread with turkey, avocado, lettuce, pickle, tomato (I chose to have mine without), onion and a side of chipotle mayo. Whenever our meals came out the first thing that I noticed was the fries. They looked like they were homemade but also had a glistening appearance to them. After touching them I confirmed that they were indeed warm but soggy and so I can only imagine that they didn't let them drip off enough after taking them out of the fryer. The taste of the fries ended up being pretty good although they lacked seasoning in my opinion. As someone who rarely uses a salt shaker, I was surprised that I reached for it a couple of times in order to make them more palatable. The sandwich itself was good and I was impressed with the amount of turkey that they had put on it as well as the perfect ripeness of the avocado. What really made the sandwich though was the chipotle mayo. It was creamy and had the perfect amount of spice to it which I think went perfectly with the turkey. Without that important component I doubt I would have enjoyed it nearly as much. The bottom line for me is that I might head back here again in the future. While I really enjoyed the chipotle mayo and thought that the rest of the food was decent, I also thought that the price was bit much for what you received with it being a diner and all. read more

Been to this place twice. A diner in the classic sense. One some mornings, specially weekends, it is filled, and noisy. Like a popular diner should be. Family style eating and portions. We have eaten here a few times. It is never great, but usually a solid okay. After not eating here for about 8 months, we decided to stop in after my daughters doctor's appointment, which was right around the corner. I immediately noticed that their prices went up considerably - around $1.50 to $2 increase for many of the breakfast items. I dont specifically have an issue with that as long as the food is good. Unfortunately, it was pretty awful! We ordered two kids pancake meals with sausage and an over easy egg on the side. I ordered an omelette with hashbrowns and rye toast, and my husband ordered two poached eggs with hash and grits. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our food. We finally had to ask someone about the order because we had another appointment to get to and would have to leave if it wasnt ready. The food came out as soon as we asked for it. It looked like it had been sitting for awhile. My omelette was not hot and it was very overcooked. It was brown all over and spongy. The cheese had started to congeal. The pancakes were both over done, but fortunately my littles dont mind. They were happy to get them at that point. My husbands eggs were supposed to be poached but were not hot and the yolk was not runny. The coffee literally tasted like nothing. Our bill came to $40 and we would not go back again. Breakfast is our favorite meal and there are better places to eat. Next time we will travel the extra miles. read more

I looked at a menu on their website. I looked at the take out menu. There were no prices listed. I ordered 2 short stack orders of banana walnut pancakes. I was charged $14.47 for 4 pancakes. When I called I spoke to a manager and was told each order was $6.89 and 3 pancakes would have been $7.49. She said someone should have told you. I said that was a ridiculous price for 4 pancakes. She said the prices of walnuts went up so that is why they cost that much, however the price would have been the same as chocolate chip or blueberry. So I guess the price of blueberries and chocolate chips went up as well. To make it worse the food was not very good. As a side note not one person working was wearing a mask. I will never eat at any of their locations. read more

I only have the opportunity to dine here when I am taking my dogs to my veterinarian. Regrettably, there is no location near my home. The restaurant is not large, but it is well-designed for customer comfort. The booths can easily and comfortably accommodate four, maybe six people. Our service from Heather was pleasant and attentive. Almost everything we ordered was delicious: a perfectly grilled swiss cheese sandwich stuffed with beef, french fries which reminded me of Primanti Brothers' excellent product, cole slaw, pancake, waffle, scrambled eggs, hash brown patties, biscuits in sausage gravy. We three enjoyed a feast for $32+: reasonable for the quality and quantity. This is a great diner: no wonder it is consistently busy (yet not so busy that one must wait a long time for a table). read more

Food 5+ stars - Service negative stars if I could do so!!! Walked in a little after 11:30am on a Thursday, was seated right away. Waitress stopped by asking if I wanted anything to drink, said yes and that I was ready to order as well. She took my order, turned around grabbed the coffee and went to kitchen. 5 minutes later came back with my water; coffee cup half empty and she never offered me more coffee. 5 minutes later someone different brought out my order; eggs benedict...I'm a connoisseur of eggs benedict and must they were some of the best I have ever eaten!!! 2nd lady refilled my coffee which was my 2nd cup. My waitress had two other tables near me and over the next 10-15 minutes walked by several times and never, not once, asked how my meal was or if I would like more coffee. Finished my breakfast, again 2 thumbs up, after being there oh 20-25 minutes and finally my waitress stops by the table. Thinking she was gonna offer me more coffee or to ask how my food was...wrong...never a word about either...just dropped the check, cleared my plate and cups and never said boo! Probably the worst service I have ever experienced but probably by far one of the top 5 breakfasts I've ever had. Will go back for the food, but will make sure I don't have the same waitress!!! read more

Today we tried take out food at our favorite diner! And they did not disappoint! Called in our order and 15min later I was there to pick it up. Eric was polite on phone and in person. Food was warm and delicious! We ordered a variety of food from breakfast to lunch items. One of the things that might have been the best about the service was that the food was package so NOTHING was soggy! French toast to pulled pork sandwich, we were so happy that the food tasted just as good as take out as sitting down to eat. I've driven by this oddly placed restaurant since I moved to Cranberry Twp in October and always wondered if it would be a good diner. One Sunday we were really in the mood for a good breakfast, but not in the mood for a chain breakfast so decided to try it out. One ordered the Banana Walnut French Toast, another ordered an omelet and I ordered the Banana Walnut pancakes. From where I was sitting I could see directly into the kitchen and everything was coming from scratch. The food came quickly and we were all impressed with how good it all smelled. One bite into my huge pancakes and I was in love! They were stuffed with walnuts and fresh bananas. The french toast was actually Walnut Banana bread as french toast - OMG DELISH! The omelet was also huge and full of fresh veggies. We didn't talk the entire meal because it was so good! My only complaint is paying at the end. It got a bit confusing because we wanted to split the check and you had to pay at the counter -it took a while for them to do the calculations, but we got it taken care of. read more

Stopped for a meal while in the area based on the good reviews as we are always looking for a new place to add to our "go to" list. We were surprised to see the place almost empty upon arrival as the many positive reviews suggested it should be a popular place and the cranberry area is generally busy. My wife ordered the fish sandwich and I tried to order breakfast as the menu stated "breakfast served all day". We were informed that although breakfast was served all day, there would be an extra charge of $2 for certain items - home fries, sausage gravy for example - no eggs benedict at all and limited omelettes. So "breakfast all day" should actually say "a few breakfast items all day". Our food arrived and the fish sandwich was good in terms of size but lacked in flavor and bun was stale. My eggs and toast were served lukewarm with small eggs and toast that was limp and soggy. For the prices charged, the food was sorely lacking and far below average. Needless to say, we won't be hurrying back anytime soon. read more

It's a traditional diner....I reccomend the Strawberry Crunch French Toast, it is probably one of my overall favorite diner breakfasts. It's better than a Denny's and the service is above average with a nice polite staff. read more
