Breakfasts are really very good here, but the hours are strange and the lunch and dinner menu leaves a lot to be desired and the prices for those meals are a bit high. I've been coming here for sunday breakfasts quite often since it opened. I love their Crabs Benedict & usually order it 8/10 times. I have also tried the Salmon Benedict & it is a nice change. Today I had the whopping Belgian waffle combo breakfast w/ fresh stawberries & whipped cream, along w/ the eggs over easy & ham that was from a real ham w/ a bone, not the boneless processsed ham stuff. It was yummy ! Needless to say, that breakfast was sufficient for breakfast & lunch !. Service was excellent & it was a nice way to start my Sunday morning. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, but not expensive either. Not too bad, the food is your typical diner type food, but the interior of the place is not. First of all, its part of a strip mall, so it doesnt have that stand alone diner feel to start. Then the inside is just a bunch of booths thrown together. High ceilings and weird layout, falter in giving the true diner experience. The food sure looked good but we didn't get to eat any. We waited 1hr 20min and ended up leaving before anything came despite the waitress assuring us that everything would be right out. Our meal was even comped but everyone around us continued to get served. What would You call an owner who has six people(adults) come into his place on Fathers Day for lunch and 4 of the six want to order a Reuben with Swiss Cheese and he is out of it but wont walk less than 100yds...yes 100 yds to the brand new shop and save to get it. We went for dinner as soon as we walked in it did not look like a diner. They have cheep prints of anything. They are so random and then they have these sculptors in between. Then they had carpet. What diner has carpet. Sitting there a waiting for someone to come over and ask us what we wanted. Finely 10 mins later we told her what we wanted. But she can over to me and asked what can i get you sur. I looked up she giggled and said oh I am sorry. I was thinking for a waitress you shouldn't giggle it is just rude. I would of been ok if she didn't giggle.But she did! It took her 10 min to get us 4 drinks 3 trips. 40 freaking minutes to bring us our food with crud on the veggie bowl my french fries were not cooked properly. They we not cook properly and cold. Wife and I had breakfast there this morning, based on reviews saying they had good breakfasts there. We were also happy to see various certificates saying they were voted Best Breakfast in Cranberry TWP for several years. Uh, really? I got a big Sausage Gravy, Biscuit and Egg breakfast, while the wife had bacon and eggs with home fries. I can guarantee you that my biscuits were store-bought, refrigerated biscuits. In fact, they didn't even remember to nuke them before serving them. They were ice cold and I had to send them back. The sausage patties were pre-formed and maybe 1/8" in thickness, and the hash browns were the frozen patty kind (I was actually told they were patties when I ordered them). The sausage gravy was either a mix or from a can, and it was horrible. And the wife said her home fries tasted like they were made either yesterday or real early this morning. She also witnessed omelets being made with eggs from a milk carton. AND IF SHE SEES SHE SAW THEM POUR LIQUID EGGS FROM A CARTON, I'LL BELIEVE HER OVER WHAT ANYBODY ELSE SAYS. COME ON, GUYS!!! HOW FRIGGIN' HARD IS IT TO MAKE SAUSAGE GRAVY FROM SCRATCH? HOW FRIGGIN' HARD IS IT TO SLICE FRESH SAUSAGE FROM A ROLL AND MAKE IT 1/2 THICK OR MORE? HOW FRIGGIN' HARD IS TO CRACK FRESH EGGS AND WHIP THEM WITH A WHISK FOR A FRESH OMELET? HOW FRIGGIN HARD IS IT TO STIR UP FRESH HOME FRIES ON ORDER? Today will without a doubt be the last time I visit this establishment and will do everything in my power to dissuade anyone else from going. Before the review, I'll issue a caveat that I will go to a place a few times before a "1 star" rating as I am quite aware there are bad day(s). The diner is a diner, would not and was not expecting anything that would make my taste buds tingle, only diner-esque food. Against my chagrin and after a 2 year hiatus, I was talked into this place by a family member. Service was fair and the place has a lively vibe, that is where my compliments will end. When I was presented with my meal, I was in trouble at the start...my plate was in quite disarray with food strewn about. The eggs resembled something from Fisher Price and tastes like plastic as well...moving on to the potatoes, and that's all they are is potatoes with some seasoning salt. I had asked for well done, but looking around the table, they all looked the same. I found it interesting as well that the potatoes were never flipped, turned, or even moved. One side is warm the other is cold and resembles a boiled potato. A complete failure in preparation. The bacon was extremely salty, even for being bacon...almost as it was brined and then sprinkled with salt. Luckily there did not seem anything wrong with the fryer. I truly hope you have a better experience than I had...but never again for me. read more

Worst food ever. Ate there on 08/07/2019. There was 3 of us and approximately 10 people in the restaurant. It took about 30 minutes to get our food. When the food arrived I was shocked. I ordered an steak omelet with home fries. My other friends ordered poached eggs with corn beef hash and home fries and the other ordered a select 5 omelet with home fries. The potatoes were boiled with dill sprinkled on them. No salt, No pepper and certainly not Fried. They were boiled potatoes with no seasoning. Then my omelet had about half an onion sliced thin and just laying in the middle of the fold, they were soggy and my peppers were barely cooked. I told the waitress about the potatoes an see said a lot of people were complaining about them. My's friends potatoes were exactly the same as mine bland and boiled not fried. Her omelet was bland and if not for the Swiss cheese it wouldn't of had any flavor. My other friend with the corn beef hash her eggs were not cooked all the way through the white part still had slime on it. Her potatoes where fried so at least one of us had fried home fries. I suggested to the waitress that I would go in and cook for them. They need to hire someone that knows how to cook and flavor food. The waitress did comp me for my meal. I don't think I should have paid for any of it. We all ended up with diarrhea through out the rest of the day. Stay away from this place. read more

Four of us (hungry Canadians) were in Cranberry Township on our way back home from whitewater rafting in Summersville, West Virginia. Not wanting typical boring chain restaurant grub, we searched google and found Freedom Square down the street from our hotel. Easy to get to, we were immediately impressed by the large open concept and welcoming staff. Breakfast is reasonably priced and delicious. Portions are big and you'll never see the bottom of your coffee mug. Service like this is hard to beat! Thanks for a great meal Freedom Square. We stopped here on a road trip because cracker barrel was too far away. It was definitely better than the cracker barrel and I would come back. The least impressive part of my review is that the food was awesome; I will be back, but not just because of the awesome food. I needed to plan a surprise brunch for my mother's 60th birthday. Freedom Square Diner was the only local breakfast place that was open on a Saturday and takes reservations. It was literally impossible to find a breakfast place that would take my reservation! It was no trouble getting a reservation here for a party of 10. What was so awesome about this place was how awesome the waitresses were. Our party of 10 arrived at 11 am- prime brunch time.... but our guest of honor didn't arrive until almost 11:30! It was hard for my dad to get her there on time without telling her where she was going!! The waitresses happily refilled our drinks and coffee and did not make us feel rushed at all!! (and there was a line of people waiting to be seated, sorry guys!) They didn't bat an eye at the fact that we had balloons, party hats, and eventually, a crying guest of honor! The food came really quickly after we ordered (and again, it was awesome) and the waitress (I wish I would have asked her name) asked all about the party- why we were having it, was it a surprise, who was the guy my mother was hugging and crying (it was my brother who lives in Colorado). I have been here several times, and the food is average. My biggest complaint is the customer service, especially from the owner. When my son was two years old, he slipped on a wet floor. The owner did not seem to care that my son fell on his wet floor, and he couldn't have been more rude. WOW. I didn't even go in to eat. I went in to purchase a gift card for my mom for mother's day. I walked in and the teen girl behind the register greeted me with a death look. I wasn't expecting an enthusiastic "welcome!", or a smile even.....just a "hi" would have been cool. But, nope- nothing. After a 15 second-long staring contest, she said, "....just one?" with an attitude. I said, "no (laughed) I need a gift card..." She looked at me like I was the one who was nuts. I have never eaten here, nor will I ever after this simple, rude interaction. We have been eating at the diner since shortly after it opened. It's a nice change to all the chain restaurants in Cranberry Twp. The owners, Tom & Ray, are always stopping at tables to ask if everything was okay and to say hi. They both are really friendly and it rubs off on their employees. The food has always been great, we have ordered everything from breakfast to dinner and have never walked away hungry. The strawberry milkshake is fantastic, with real pieces of strawberries, not just syrup like most places. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, Prices are reasonable, there's a breakfast special M-F for only $3.99 and daily lunch special. 99% of their wait staff is fantastic, but hopefully the day we had a bad server she was just having a bad day. It doesn't have the typical "diner" look to it, but the inside is decorated nicely. The restaurant and restrooms are always clean. Our only complaint we have ever had is if you order off the specials menu and you want to change the side that comes with it they do not allow substitutions. Actually I think we were told that is true for most of the menu, but that was awhile ago. If you are in the Cranberry area, you have to try this restaurant. But the reason I will not go back to the Monaca store is the fact that while I waited patiently for a coffee refill, (15 mins? give or take) I was entertained by the staff constantly complaining about other staff. Went there on 2/28/11 for dinner.Took 10 min. to get the water.(Must have been drilling for it) Waitress finally came back after a long wait. Went to order the baked fish and guess what? I was told that it just came in this morning and it was not thawed. So I asked for a few more minutes to decide. 10 min. later she comes back, upon entering the diner I noticed two tables that had there giant fried fish sandwich, so I ordered that, she tells me "we ain't got none of the fish". Apparently none was battered. OK, my wife wanted there veggie lasagna and was hungry so I ordered that for her while I looked to make another choice. Waitress come back and I order a buffalo chicken salad and a side of fries. After a 15 min. wait the waitress comes to our table and says,"It will be just a minute we are waiting for the lasagna". About five minutes goes by and we get our food. Guess what? My side order of fries & the five fries on my salad are cold. Then our daughter comes in to say hi. She was hungry so she ordered 2 eggs over easy, bacon (three strips) and toast, She got it in good time, I guess you have to pay for speed, her breakfast was $6.49! WOW...you would think in today's economy things would be better when you go out to spend a buck. read more

We have been frequent customers of Freedom Square Diner since it's opening and we've overlooked some egregious customer service problems and very average food quality in an effort to support a local business. Last night was the last straw. We visited the restaurant for dinner and my wife had her heart set on eggs benedict. When she ordered it the server replied, "That's not available at this time of day; it is one of 4 items on the menu that we only serve until 11:00 am." Upon further questioning, the server explained that the hollandaise sauce is placed in the cooler to make room in the steam table for other sauces and gravy's AND that the dinner cook doesn't know how to make poached eggs. To that I asked if it could be made with a fried egg and a portion of hollandaise sauce be heated to make the dish. The server looked at me like I was crazy and laughed while she condescended, "I know it's disappointing, it's one of my favorites too and I can only have it when I work early in the day." We will never again be eating at Freedom Square Diner as it is 100% obvious that we are not valued as customers! read more
