Recently I've been buying bread here, and my family and I can all agree it's very good quality bread. You have to call a day in advanced to purchase baguette, but I don't mind because it means the bread is fresh and has not been sitting out. I also love the fresh strawberry wagon wheel! It's huge & definitely a showstopper. I love to give it as gifts, or have it out with coffee when guest come over. I order it with my baguette order to secure one because they do sell out. We have been going here for 15+ years. I had a cake for my birthday. Picked it up 2/3/24. Ordered a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The cake tasted wonderful like normal but once you cut cake open you can see it was a white cake that they dyed yellow. Most of it was yellow but white parts through out. It looked like it was colored after the fact. Yellow cake batter is...yellow through and through. Again it was tasty but it should have been all yellow. Hello I want to update my review of this business. I once again went in and was once again spoken to by the head baker. He was upset at my previous review. Let me make it perfectly clear, yes, they had asked me not to bring the dog in when I buy my weekly Challah. (This is a weekly Jewish tradition), when I went in last time all I needed was a friendly reminder, I'm very busy I own a business and I'm often got my head in many other places. I made a mistake but I did not need to be yelled at or spoken to in such an abrasive manner. I went in again today and was once again spoken to in an abrasive manner by the baker telling me that he was not happy with my yelp review. I am very sorry that I did not listen, that I did not remember. However I am really really sad because buying my Bread each week Was kind of a special tradition to me. It reminded me of the time that I went into the other French's bakery in Costa Mesa and went into labor with my beautiful daughter. I apologize to this business for posting a negative yelp review. I apologize to them for accidentally forgetting to not bring in my 4 pound Chihuahua. However this is now the second time I have made up and feel very uncomfortable coming in here. Pretty average bakery. The staff is pleasant. There are options for cakes, pastries, cookies, bread, etc. I purchased a Groupon for this location and used it on some cupcakes that tasted good. There is plenty of parking available as it's located in a center with other businesses. In a pinch this is a decent bakery to stop in. I came on a Friday around 2:30 and the young lady who helped me was wonderful. It was my first visit to the bakery and so much to choose from: fresh breads, cakes, cupcakes and pies. I bought an apple pie ($15) and 10 cupcakes ($2+ each). Our neighbors are moving to Texas so we brought the apple pie to their going away celebration and it was delicious. Everyone loved it: fresh, cinnamon, filled with apples and the crust was light and perfectly baked. I will update this review once we eat the cupcakes. I've never been here before, but a friend recommended this place for a cake with fruits on it. At first I was a bit skeptical, but to my surprise, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I got a cake with fruits on them for my husband's birthday. The fruits were sweet and the cookie crust was a great pairing with sweet cream filling. It was delicious! My kids loved It! I was browsing around at the other cupcakes and danishes they had, it's a bit pricey for me. For example, I saw an Oreo cupcake going for $2.xx for me, that's a bit steep for a cupcake. Sugar overload. Came here for some sweets during Valentine's Day and the store was bustling with activity even though there was a downpour going on outside. I ordered a dozen cookies ranging from chocolate chip, dark chocolate, snickerdoodle and peanut butter with chocolate chips. The cookies were all light and airy in the middle with a nice little crisp on the outside. I do have to say that the chocolate chip versions were my favorite of the bunch. If you're taking some for a gathering, you have the option of boxing the cookies up versus bagging and it makes them look much nicer! We also got a few cupcakes. They were pretty and I liked how soft and moist they were. There was a lot of frosting on top since they were doing the hearts, multiple shades of pink and more - so that was expected, but I wasn't mad. I really enjoyed it and would consider more of them for future occasions. Everyone was nice that I encountered and I liked that they had pre-packed goodies or you could create your own assortment based on your mood. Located in the same center as Staples, I was able to grab some computer paper and then visit French's Pastries for some dessert. I heard a friendly "hello" as soon as I walked in the door. The selection was so large here, and I really had trouble deciding. They had some beautiful cakes in one case and lots of cookies and pastries in the other. I ended getting up getting a red velvet cupcake, a chocolate chip cookie (dipped in chocolate), and a German chocolate brownie. As soon as we got home, we had to try a bit everything. The German chocolate brownie was really good. I thought the flavor was great, and the brownie itself was pretty moist. The red velvet cupcake was another story. It was dry extremely dry. The cookie was good, just not great. I thought the service was really good here, but the items we ordered were hit or miss. I'd try other cupcakes or cookies here, but I doubt I'd order a cake if I wasn't sure it would be great. The only thing I can hands down is amazing and always good is the fudge brownie. This is a case where size doesnt matter. Its super small for a brownie. Maybe 2.5-3 inches but after you start eating it, its so rich and chocolaty, paired with chopped walnuts with a ooey milk chocolate frosting that smears itself all over your fingers. The brownie seems like its undercooked, it definitely failed tge toothpick test. If your into cookie dough or lickin the brownie batter spoon then you will be in brownie heaven. I ended up having a cookie craving so I ended up getting some snickerdoodles, almond butter something, and that basically satisfied my sweet tooth. They're lucky they're delicious because their staff is not great. They seem to hire exclusively teenage girls and trying to order a custom cake was... difficult. I had a not-very-complicated request - I was ordering a cake for my daughter's first birthday, so I wanted a regular-sized round cake and a mini smash cake to go with it. The "complicated" part was that I wanted to pick up the smash cake on one day (my daughter's actual birthday) and the regular cake on a different day (the day of her party). They had to re-write the order twice to get it right and then called me a few days later because they were still not clear what I wanted. The day I picked up the smash cake, I saw that they had accidentally made the regular cake as well that day! I called the day before her party to make sure that the regular cake would actually be done because I was nervous that they would screw it up. Still, it was delicious and nicely decorated. They're a little pricy in my opinion (I paid around $55 for the regular cake and the smash cake), but cheaper than other custom bakeries. Since Albertson's doesn't do any custom decorating anymore, I'm giving them one more chance. I STRONGLY suggest you call the day before your event to make sure everything is in order. EDIT: I ordered a second cake through them last week and everything was perfect! Maybe the first snafu was just a glitch. read more

Today went into bakery for cookies, picked out approximately 8 cookies, when i was leaving bakery, i took out a chocolate cookie from my bag and bit it. It was hard as a rock. I told the girl and she immediately went in case to give me a soft cookie. I gave her the other hard cookie for exchange. She knew how to reach for the recently baked when i complained. I had a groupon for this place and picked up a fresh strawberry wagon wheel for my BF's dad, and cream puffs for my dad. Rewind a bit. I called my order on Thursday for the fresh strawberry wagon wheel, hung up, and called back 15 minutes later to order a custom wagon wheel. I was told by the girl on the phone that they don't do 3 flavors on the wagon wheel anymore, and the web was incorrect. Ok, no biggie. Hung up. Saturday I picked up my wagon wheel, and then looked at the selection in the bakery. Sigh.. not quite what I wanted, so I told the girl "too bad I can't custom make my wagon wheel anymore". The girl said "really? since when?". I told her about my phone call and she told me that I was misinformed. They still do 3 flavors on the wheel, that I just need to call it in. I can see why the reviews here are mixed. Customer service is pretty wonky at this place. So I decided to get a strudel, my fresh strawberry wheel, and 6 mini cream puffs for the 2 dads. My groupon was for $30, and I just had to pay an additional $2 out of pocket. Not bad, considering I paid $15 for the groupon. They have the best deals during the week. $1 cupcakes on Tuesdays and cookie deals on Thursdays just to throw a few out there. It was a reasonable price for everything I got which were (12 cupcakes, 24 cookies and one Chocolate Chip Wagon Wheel). The food is really pretty and the presentation one all of it made it seem like it would be delicious but unfortunately it just wasn't. The cupcakes were dry and dense. The wagon wheel tasted spoiled and rotten and the cookies were hard and stale and tasted plain.
