I'm a realtor and made and paid for an inspection upfront. I asked the scheduler to have the technician call me when he reached the property because they give you a 2 hour window and I live only 2 blocks away. My window was between 2-4pm and at 20 to 4pm I called to find out where the tech was. They said he'd gone to the property and that he called someone, not the number I left on file and left. Failed marks all around, because they didn't try to email me, even though they had emailed me a receipt. And they were unable to get anyone out for a few days even though they had made a mistake. Their staff was unapologetic, I will not use or recommend them. read more

Recently we used Freschi/Services Experts to replace furnace and air conditioning units for both upstairs and downstairs (separate systems). Our downstairs furnace had issues and needed to be replaced. I met with 4 other HVAC contractors a couple of months earlier and just wasn't comfortable with any of them (one pushed me to sign a contract during the initial meeting to get 'special' pricing). I then remembered that Costco had a deal where they acted as the general contractor while partnering with a local company. Art Miner came out and was able to answer all of my many questions clearly and without trying to hard-sell me. He was able to explain the various advantages that come with the Costco tie in, such as the current promotion that they were running. Needless to say it was a logical and easy process, which made it an easy decision. When the installation date came the two main guys, Rick and Will, were both professional and courteous. They were helped by Fernando, who seemed to do all the heavy lifting! I work at home full time and even with all the activity going on was able to keep working during the two days. When the final inspection was done the city inspector wanted a small hole in the drywall patched. This hole was there from the house's original construction 23 years ago, but Freschi came out a couple of days later and fixed it anyway. The system works great ('night and day' better than the original system), as does the wifi-enabled Lennox thermostats. Buying two new HVAC systems cost a lot of money, but having a positive experience with the contractor made it a little less painful. read more

As far as I know, this company is did a decent job replacing the ducting at my house, but their follow-up was unethical. After the ducting install, an independent air quality inspector was supposed to call to check out the work. The office called and scheduled an inspection, and I thought it was this air quality inspection we'd been expecting for months. When the Freschi tech came out he advised us to do some upgrades and then said the charge for today is $80. WHAT?! I called the office and said look this is not ok, I didn't sign up for your seasonal assessment which I know is just a chance for them to come out and try to upsell services, and I certainly didn't agree to pay $80 for a sales pitch. I stated I thought it was the inspection we were supposed to have after the ducting install. I tried calling several more times at different times during the day to get a refund, the receptionist supposedly left messages with the manager, but I never heard back and they basically stole $80. I would only use Freschi if the only other option was Hometown Heating and Air Conditioning. What I've learned from several bad experiences with HVAC contractors: 1. HVAC lends itself toward deceptive practices for two reasons: a. HVAC systems are hidden and most consumers have no desire to crawl around in the attic or below house spaces. b. Even if you are willing to get dirty to look at your HVAC system. It is not easy to identify quality work from poor work to the inexperienced eye. I didn't know to look for a certain number of screws on the joints, and it's hard to tell if a joint is sealed well unless you know what you're looking for. 2. The typical American residential forced air system is inefficient and outdated. We are the only country in the world that uses forced air. The huge ducting system takes up a lot space, which is a premium here in the bay area. Conditioned air goes through attics and subfloors, and the unconditioned spaces cause energy waste because the conditioned air loses its desired temperature range as it moves through the system. The ducting systems are so big and over-complicated that there are many chances for leaks. The products are made from a lot of toxic materials that lead to environmental health risks. If you have serious concerns about your health research alternative systems. 3. All the service agreements are just guarantees to the HVAC contractor that you will pay for a sales pitch every 6 months. "Seasonal inspections" mean that a technician comes into your house to upsell specific upgrades. Purchasing a service agreement is equivalent to tattooing "sucker" on your head for these guys. 4. In general, HVAC contractors are crooks. Use more caution if the salespeople seem more polished. UPdate: Air conditioner was on and I was outside gardening; I felt cool air blowing out from a vent under the house. This was only a couple months after they replaced the ducting. Clearly they didn't seal it very well if it leaks enough to feel it blowing from under the house. Still no refund on the $80(!) they stole. read more

(short of buying all new) The 2 gentleman, Mike 464 and Oliver 565 were Professional, efficient, well mannered, and fast! Don't waste your time. AC went out Saturday, called to make an appointment Sunday, weren't available until Thursday. Understandable. Sure in this heat that we aren't the only ones calling. Waited patiently for the past four days in this 100+ heat wave knowing someone would be there at the given time slot of the day scheduled. Got off work early. Time slowly came and went, held off on calling between that slot giving them the benefit of the doubt as I'm in the construction business and know people get busy especially when repairing and installing things. Finally gave in and called. "scheduler" answered. Scheduler didn't know what happened to the schedule. Then all of sudden knew and said they called to reschedule. No one called to reschedule. 4 days waiting. 4 days where they actually had a chance to call and reschedule, which we would have at least respected because we could have began looking for Plan B. Scheduler didn't care and didn't even try to reschedule or at least tell us the next available time. Just bad customer service and no care of their mess up. So pretty sure the person who was suppose to come either just didn't show or the scheduler sucks at the job like shown from the unprofessional talk on the phone. So Day 6 of no AC in 100+ and back to the drawing board. read more

I have been reading some people giving 5* and some 1* to Freschi, but I am one to give 1* because of how I was treated especially when purchased a $14000 HVAC unit three years ago. they gouged me for cost of service and parts! What upsets me is there continuous calling for an appointment for me to schedule an annual service. I have repeated told them three times that i refuse their service and I told the rep why. Here's what happened last year. I made an appointment for annual service during a promotion for $99. A week before the appointment, Freschi called me that they have to reschedule (two weeks later). During the service, the rep informed me that the Freon was low and highly recommended that I recharge. Ok, I gave the person the OK to do it and the rep also said I need a new MARV air filter. After the service, the rep charged me $129 for the annual service. Another $149-159 and $160 for the air filter. I was shocked at the cost! I quickly told the rep that I called on the $99 promotion and was informed that the promotion had expired. I explained that it was Freschi that changed the date and I had arranged for an earlier date. For the additional Freon, I was informed after the diagnostic and service that there was no leak so i questions how can my freon be low after two years of use and no leak. The only explanation was that there was not enough Freon from the beginning. As for the cost of the filter, it was about $40 more from last year. I later found that I can order the same exact air filter for $80! It was very easy to change the filter. Freschi also installed a fancy Wi-Fi thermostat that retails for $700 and it is not functioning properly after three years of use. I understand that the thermostat has a five year warranty, but I've heard that it will cost me $200 to replace it. Very dissatisfied with Fre And I was a customer that had them install a new Lennox unit! I was an idiot for contracting with them. A friend had the same unit installed in his home by another company for $800 less. Never will I use this company and I highly do not recommend them. I have gone to a competitor and their service charges are more reasonable and i don't have to wait weeks for an appointment. This is a follow up ok Freschi's posted response seen below. I've talked with "three" Freschi employees and one of them was from their customer satisfaction department. All three apologized for my dissatisfaction and none of them said to reimburse the difference of the annual check up charge and not one of them can explain why I need freon on a two year old unit especially when there was a leak. In regards to the $40-$50 difference on the MERV air filter, they just repeat saying "we do quality work." I told them that the reps need to tell customers the cost of replacing the filter. I had assumed that the cost was the same as the year prior, but instead it was 30% increase! This time I ordered the same air filter for $80 and I replaced it myself. You would think that a company would offer a discount of future servicing like some other HVAC companies if the customer had originally contracted with them on the installation of a new HVAC. Lousy customer service after you spend over $14. 2019 update. I am still paying less than $99 for HVAC Check ups with another company and do not need Freon because the levels is still the same. No leak, and Freschi charged me two years ago for fill up on a two year old HVAC unit they installed. That confirms my belief that there was nearly enough Freon when it was new. Update on cost is MARV 16 air filters, cost me $54 online with free shipping. No need to have others replace for you especially when they charge $140-$160. Very simple to replace. read more

I bought an HVAC system from Freschi Service Experts about 5 years ago. I also signed up for their semi annual checkup on the system. They check the heater and filter before the winter season and the air conditioner and filter before the summer system. They also suggest upgrades to the system that I have added and enjoy. I like having a team of professionals that keep my system in top shape. Last year I needed to replace the HVAC systems at two rental properties and I used Freschi for both of them. During the visit they made to my home to do the checkup this week they pointed out that my water heater connection was rusting and it was 22 years old - well beyond the normal life expectancy. They gave me a quote to replace it. I had another plumber come out and give me a second opinion. He agreed the water heater was very old and quoted me about the same price for a new one. I am going to have Freschi replace the water heater. They have a highly trained team of professionals and are taking good care of me! read more

Thanks to Bart + Brent for their ducting diagnostics; both are good technicians trying to problem-solve our concern; time will tell if their company properly rectifies the less than satisfactory installation of the $15,000 HVAC system installed at our home last year. Our master bedroom is getting virtually no air flow from the two ducts, so it's very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. The ducting Freschi installed needs to be enlarged to better force-feed air to our bedroom and we are waiting to hear their company's solution to making this right. In the interim, the current four stars are for Bart + Brent's problem-solving and their polite and professional way in which they handled my frustration with a system that's not working as it should. We await hearing from Freschi on how they will fix this problem. read more

We had Demone Dorsey come to perform routine service on our heater. He was right on time and even called on his way to let us know exactly when he'd be there. He was thorough in his work and did a great job explaining what he found and what his recommendations were. So a couple days ago thermostat they installed just died. The cost to replace it under warranty was $276.

We had a new AC unit installed at the end of last summer by Freschi and that was a pleasant experience, however first week of this summer it stopped working. We called freschi and had a service tech come out. We were told it needed a new part (although the tech did not seem very convinced it was the right part?!? ) which then took 3 weeks to come in and we were charged $100, despite a warranty. When it finally did come in, we had to chase freschi to make a service appoinment which was made for a Tuesday, the appointment came and went, we had a no call/no show. We had to chase freschi up and another appoinment was made for the next day, again ANOTHER no call/no show. After the second no call/no show, we emailed freschi and a manager did call us back the next morning. Techs were sent out that day and he stated we were incorrectly charged the $100 service fee and will refund us. Ron and his colleague who came out were lovely and got it working that day!! A new part is needed to be replaced (not the one original ordered!) but we spent a month with no AC (in the middle of summer with 2 little kids at home) because of a tech who didn't know what he was doing and 2 no call/no shows!!! It has now been over a month since all this happened and we have not heard anything about the actually replacement part needed or a refund on the original service fee. We went through Costco for our new furnace/AC/ducting system, on the recommendation of a neighbor who used them last year. These neighbors have lived on our street for 35+ years and they love their forever house. They spoke highly of the experience, so when the earthquake sealed the doom of our dying furnace, we called Costco. Well, it turns out we were headed to Freschi. Short review: they were outstanding. Details: Art in technical sales came to the house and assessed our needs and made the decisions easy. I had a thousand questions and he answered them succinctly and informatively. As an engineer I might have been hard to satisfy with information, but Art was with me every step of the way. For example, he offered a solution to the fact that our bedroom was the least-served room in the house. (Now it's the best!) He also improved the service in our two other bedrooms, so they're now as toasty warm as the rest of the house. The pricing was fair and they could get on the job right away, so away we went. Ric's team of six came a week later and did the job in about 3/4 of a day. Working from Art's specs for the job, they knew exactly what success meant. They dismantled and removed the inside furnace and the outside AC unit, upsized the return line, installed and tested the new units, and improved the ducting under the house, all between 9 AM and 3:30 PM -- including cleanup inside and out. Each member of the team was a craftsman, making tools they needed, customizing parts to fit in our space, improvising flooring under the new unit, and more. Problem solvers all. One team member (Adrian?) found and fixed the leak in the crawl space that had been warming our floor in the winter and cooling it in the summer. Thorough professionalism to a man. They worked together like a tight-knit squad, almost reading each others' minds at times. I was also impressed that I was able to discuss any aspect of the work with any member of the team. Obviously I have not had six HVAC companies install systems in my house, so this is not a comparative review. But this group gave us what we wanted and needed, and never tried to up-sell us on bells and whistles. We're not expecting to need another HVAC system in the future, but we will turn to this company for routine maintenance when the time comes. By the way, they didn't try to sell us on that, either. Their performance was enough to convince me to use them again. I expect I'm on Art's calendar for follow-up at some point, and when he calls, I'll say Yes. So use them. If you're going to throw down for Lennox system, you deserve to be happy with the experience. With Freschi, you'll be satisfied. read more

When our heater stopped working on the friday morning after Thanksgiving, we were up at 5am FREEZING!! Being a holiday weekend, this was the first place that answered their phones at 6 in the morning. They had serviced the unit for the previous tenant and had excellent reviews on yahoo.com yellow pages. I had made 1 call that I had left a message before calling them. They were very polite and scheduled our appointment for 11am Friday. At 8:30am I received a call from a completely DIFFERENT number than the one I called stating: "I just received your message" (so I thought it was the 1st company I called) "and we can have a tech out at 9am. I told her that since no one had answered earlier, we had found someone else that was open. (she NEVER once stated that we had already had an appt. and that a time had opened up earlier) The original appt was cancelled. When 11am rolled around no one showed up--then 11:30 no one--when I called at 11:30 I was informed that my appt was cancelled and I could be put back into the queue and someone would be out that day. I called several more times throughout the day & night including 6pm, 9:30pm and 12 midnight. Each time I was told that we were still on the list and the tech would be there. At 9:30 I was told we were next and the tech would call us and give us and estimate. Nothing and at Midnight we were told that he just arrived at the previous appt. 30 min. prior and we were next--What happened to the him being there at 9:30?? We were assured that the tech worked until 6am and would be there soon. When I inquired about rescheduling for Saturday morning, I was told there were no openings. Each of the last three calls I was also told that the tech and local office would call me back--NO CALL. At 6:05--still no tech and freezing--I called again and the new dispatch didn't know why no one had come--we stayed up ALL night. She told us that the local office would not open until 8am, but she would keep trying both the tech and the office--Still no call!! At 7am we called another company. When they arrived at 9:15am, I called Freschi's back to cancel our appt. 10 min. after getting off the phone, the local office called. This person was very nice and told us that she never received any call or message from dispatch until then and seemed genuinely appalled at what had happened. She offered to have a tech out within an hour, but we had already hired another company that was working on the furnace. At this time the owner Mr. Freschi is supposed to be calling me on Monday to get the info to deal with the appropriate people then. I was told that he would be very upset and this was NOT how they did business. I will post an update if I actually get that call on Monday. read more

Recently I wrote a review on Freschi's after having a whole new A/C and heating system installed. I inadvertently forgot to mention the sales person who I encountered a few times before the total installation. His name is Titus Winegarner. He is the most professional, kind, caring man I have met in the world of contractors and sales people. Since he sold us the system, any minor cliches I had he took care of immediately and returned my phone calls within 24 hours or less with a positive, caring attitude and total knowledge of what I could do or he could do. He gets a 5+ rating from me for doing an excellent A+ job. read more

If I could give -ve stars I would. The management and customer service are unethical, they do not respect their customers or their customers time, and are rude and unprofessional. I schedule a regular check-up for the season, they give you a 2-hr window, I take the day off from work to stay home and wait for them, and no one shows up. No call, nothing. When I call, the customer service is rude and unaccommodating - just giving me the option to reschedule, as they're "short on technicians". Really ? Why book clients then ? So I ask to talk to management, and request a discount. Manager not available. I call a different office (probably Dublin or maybe it was Antioch - they're the same business anyway) - and get to talk to a 'kinder' representative, whose 'kinder' manager agrees to give me a free check-up, so I reschedule for another day, 10-12. Late in the evening before this second rescheduled date, I get a call from another rep who says they must cancel as they're "short on technicians". I tell them that this is the second time, so if they don't make it I'll go with another business. Rep says okay well maybe we can do 8-10 instead. I say that I have kids to take to school, so that's too early and won't work. Rep (Pam) is rude and doesn't care. I ask to talk to a manager, who is not available. After several tries, get connected to a manager - who thankfully schedules me from 9-11. Guess what. Next day, I take off from work again, and wait, it's past 11, and no one shows up ! I can't believe it ! No call, nothing. I miss my other appointment at 12, and call them, only to hear that the technician will come, but is held up due to "some problem". At that point, I don't even care how late it will be. The one positive star is for the technician, who was actually nice and polite when he did eventually come, though he didn't have to do any real work as everything was in good condition. So much hassle for nothing. These guys seriously need to go back to Sunday school and relearn some basic ethics like respecting other people's time - let alone "customer service". read more

I have been an "Advantage" member for about two years. My AC went out. Being an Advantage member is supposed to keep my heating and AC worry free including 24 hour appointment availability. Unfortunately it has been anything but. I called to report my AC out on Saturday July 25th. Was told they only had one technician and his vehicle broke down so no more service calls on Saturday. They schedule someone to come out on Sunday the 26th but don't give you a window. It is now 6:09 PM and no one has come and no one has called with an update. I don't have any confidence anyone will come today even though I am on the schedule. Unfortunately this is the second time this has happened where someone just didn't show up when I had an appointment. The manager at the Antioch location is supposed to call me but I doubt that will happen. So, I pay a premium price to have worry free maintenance but I am going on my second day without AC and I will have to call AGAIN to have another appointment. Wasted day for a company that over promises and under delivers. Such a big company should do a much better job at customer service. I would never recommend them and am considering having them remove their equipment and go with someone else. read more

In October of 2017 we called Freschi for an appointment for HVAC service. They showed up and took our credit card info then went to service our HVAC which is on the side of our house. Our neighbor had built a fence a couple years ago year next to our unit 18" inches away. The service tech. came back to us and said " They can't service our unit as they can't access certain areas on the unit." They did NOTHING to earn the payment. Well they didn't refund ANY of the charges that were put on my credit card for servicing, despite the FACT they did nothing to earn the payment. I called them 3 different times spoke to 3 different people and were told 3 different times that they will get back to me with the supervisor and credit my account. They NEVER called back after any of the inquires that I did. I will NEVER call them EVER in the future after NO response to our lack of ANY service. I would advise ANYBODY to re-think before ever using this company. read more

We have always used Freschi for HVAC service in our home and they've been great - and today was no different. We had a new system installed about a month ago and that went well. However, the first time we turned the furnace on the thermostat showed an error. Ron came out today and corrected the error and explained what to do if it happens again. Very nice. Man! Warning: do not make your appointments with Freschi online! It doesn't work! My husband went online and made an appointment for service the same day the error occurred but no one showed up and no one called. Later in the evening he received an email rescheduling for 5 days later - good thing it hasn't gotten too cold yet. Again, no one called or showed up and this time no email either! So yesterday I tried calling and after 3 tries finally connected with an agent at their call center who put me on hold for about 15 minutes while she tried to find out what the problem was. I ended up making an appointment for today and this time we received a confirmation call saying they would send their best tech. And he was! They really need to work on their appointment system and call center, though. read more

Five year update: How many people update a five year old review? Well, I do! We've lived with our mini-split airconditioning / heating system now for five years in our Eichler home in Walnut Creek and still consider this one of the best improvements we have ever made. And with the heat we have had this summer, I'm really glad I have a cool home to retreat to. Our home was built in 1956 and has a flat, foam roof, with lots of windows that bring heat and cold into the home at the wrong times of the year. When our radiant heating system died a quick death in 2010, we had Freschi install the mini-split system in our home. (Full review below.) Since then, we have enjoyed our home both in summer and winter. The system is quiet and fairly efficient - allowing us to heat or cool just the rooms that we are in without impacting a larger zone or whole house. Freschi was a dream to work with and had the system neatly installed and running in just a few days. The installation crew was fantastic, clean and showed up on time every day. The system is simple to maintain - just wash the easily removed plastic filters twice a year... no parts to replace, no maintenance costs, simple. Ten minute job for all seven filters in the house, tops. Freschi Service Experts is a quality firm and I heartily recommend them. read more
