Well, I was told this is a new business. It used to be called PHO King, but they still carry the same items at the other place used to have. I didn't try their PHO but I did stop in for some spring rolls which were always good in the past. I placed a to go order for two pork spring rolls and two shrimp spring rolls and had to wait about maybe 10 minutes as they were pretty busy. The total price was about $11. I assume they're not premade as I had to wait for them to be made which is a plus got them home eat them and I would say they were pretty good but what makes them great is the peanut sauce I just wish they would give you more of that otherwise pretty satisfying definitely recommend the spring rolls read more

We were very impressed with this Vietnamese restaurant! Both the pho and the bang mi were excellent. The pho is as good or better than anywhere in Austin. I'm sometimes skeptical of the meat in pho, but the thin slices were very tasty. Also, be sure and choose the fresh noodles, made in-house. They make Theron own bread, and the bath mi is special. The lunch special, with both bath mi and pho is filling, and an excellent deal. I would change the name since this is authentic Vietnamese. How about "Banh Mi Pho Yu." I'd give it 5 stars++ except the service was very slow. read more

They do give you water bottles instead of tap water, which is unusual, but I had my water bottle with me so that wasn't a problem. Went here yesterday during their lunch rush and ordered the bun bo hue and it tasted nothing like it did a year ago. Pretty disappointed to say the least. The broth was lacking so much flavor and no matter how much lime or sate I added, it was so bland. Definitely is not the best bun bo hue in austin anymore. Finally made it to Fresh Bowl, and man it was worth the wait! While it's not the cheapest spot for pho, it's reasonably priced for the quality you get. The restaurant was buzzing with customers, and it's no surprise why! I was very intrigued by the ladies at the table behind us, who had a mini cooking station set up, cooking right at their table. Definitely something I'll have to try next time. The portions were generous, leaving me with enough for a take-home tub of soup, neatly packed in plastic containers. There was this weird layered frozen dessert that caught my eye, I had to try it. I'm not exactly what was in it, maybe a mix of flavored jellies, peanuts, and beans all layered in with ice. I got their ube coffee, pan fried pho noodles with combo meat, and special combo rice plate. I really enjoyed their ube coffee and pan fried pho noodles the most. The pan fried noodle are crispy and it's more on the sweeter side. I do wish that they add more variety of vegetable to it. Oh my god this place is fantastic. I love pho so much and I really appreciate a good beef broth. This place has it down! At some pho places I feel like I have to add a lot of siracha and hoisin sauce just for it to have a good flavor but even before adding anything to this, the broth was phenomenal. I got the combo pho with brisket and rare beef, both were great. The service here was fast and my server was very nice. Came back with friends on a Sunday afternoon and couldn't decide on what to get. The server suggested the Ap Chao and omg I need it EVERY DAY! I got it with pork and it was incredible. Loved the crunchy pieces and the flavor combination. It's fantastic! You should definitely order it. I also got the shrimp and pork spring rolls which were typical. Food: We have been here a couple of times and tried a few different dishes every time. Our favorite menu item has to be The Crispy Pig's Hock. It was soo good!! It was tangy and sweet, and the skin was, in fact, crispy! I also love that they serve fresh herbs on the side, which enhances the flavors of each dish. Coming in second would be the Banh Mi-House Special. I could tell they were trying to perfect this. They have made some changes since I tried it the first time; all good changes, though. They are now baking their bread in-house, so it stands out. All of the other dishes were good but not the best yet. Service: The service was pretty quick, and they were friendly. There were tables available when we went, so we were seated immediately. Throughout our time there, we had several people come and check on us. It's a family-owned business, and I could tell they care about their customers. Ambiance: The place was nice and clean. Super fast service and friendly service, my boyfriend's pho came out in less than 5 minutes after ordering and my vermicelli came out in about 10 minutes. This was probably the best pho I've ever had, everything about it was so delicious and flavorful. My chicken vermicelli was also very tasty, I feel like the portions are large for what you pay. She got me a large portion plus extra blood jello. I was impressed and satisfied that I could make two large bowls with this one order. I reluctantly shared with my partner. As takeout, the next day, the broth was still amazing, I heated it up on the stovetop, basically threw all the items into a pot, except the veggies/herbs and it came out just as great as dine in at the restaurant. Good service, loved that they played Vietnam street food videos at the restaurant. Everything came out pretty quickly! We ordered the fish sauce wings, crawfish fried rice, pho ap chao, and eggrolls. Everything was good. But just good. Nothing really had us in awe, personally. There was another family there that really enjoyed the food and loved it! But I'm Vietnamese and I felt like the food was lacking a little bit of flavor. The fried rice could've been more seasoned or maybe more sauce with it? The fish sauce wings weren't stinky enough and when tasting only the aroma of fish sauce was there. Eggrolls weren't stinky enough nice and crispy, you can't really go wrong with that. Fresh Bowl is relatively new and replaced Pho King. I dined here with a friend at around 7pm on a Wednesday and there was plenty of seating. We ordered a variety of foods, including pho, bun bo hue, banh mi, and crispy pig's hock. I everything was pretty tasty. I was most looking forward to trying the bun bo hue, as it is difficult to find it in Austin specifically with pork blood cubes. Overall, the taste was good, the broth was nice and light. But I was disappointed that I only counted one pork blood cube in the entire bowl. There is however, the option to order more pork blood on the side. It was quite filling, even for a size small bowl. The ube coffee had great aesthetics but I couldn't taste the ube, I thought there condensed milk was pretty overpowering and it tasted more like milk rather than coffee. The banh mi was stuffed with ingredients, although a little too heavy on the meat for me personally. The pate was yummy though. Overall, great addition to the Viet restaurant scene in Austin. I actually enjoyed how simple the menu is set up, complete with photos and descriptions to help you order. It has its own private lot and the noise level is low. You pay at counter after you have finished eating, so after a while, they don't check in on you and wedid have to wait for to-go containers for a little bit. read more

I used to pass by this place all the time on the way to work when it was the former Pho King. Sadly, I don't have much reason to head this direction anymore, but I might make an exception when my craving for Vietnamese food hits! Ordering this time was done over the phone as they are working on their website, but calling in our order for pickup wasn't bad...the background music was a bit loud but luckily they repeat the order back to confirm and she got all 6 items! Shaken Beef-This dish tasted like shaken beef, a bit sweet, salty and fishy, but this version was more like stewed beef as I missed the sear marks that this dish is known for. Garlic Fried Chicken-It's hard to get crispy and tender fried chicken, and by the time we got to eat these, they were a bit soggy tasting and aggressively sauced. I think if we were to eat it at the restaurant it might be better and if taking out maybe ask for the sauce on the side next time. Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab-They did a great job frying these and had just the right amount of seasoning, probably the lightest tasting dish. Banh Mi-We ordered the Grilled Pork Banh Mi and the House Special. The bread here was very different than what I am used to, more like a hoagie bun and it was not lathered, but kinda drenching in the mayo. I typically like a good amount of mayo but this was a bit too much for me. However, I did like the pickled carrot/daikon mix and liked the addition of some green onions. Overall, the taste of both banh mis weren't bad, but I did find the pate in the house special a bit grainy for my liking. Combination Pho with Fresh Noodles-This dish is where they shine. The broth was very rich and def on the sweeter side that I didn't even need to add the Hoison sauce. However, the fresh noodles are where its at and an absolute game changer, sooo good I couldn't stop myself from eating the whole bowl. Although we got the combination this time, if I were to come back I would custom and just ask for tendon as theirs was sooo tender. Overall, I was fairly satisfied with my first experience here. The dishes were a bit too salty for me, but I think asking for sauces on the side would remedy this a tad. I also think having more rice helps but as you can see in the pics shrinkflation is real. However I am curious to come back and try their BBH as I've heard many good things about it. read more

We came in today at lunch time but it was not really busy at all. The server told us to seat at table 14 which is in the corner near the bathroom and then they forgot about us. Other people left and they came out to clean the other tables but didn't care to take our orders. My husband and I patiently waited for over 13 minutes and still no body cares to take our orders so we decided to walk out of the restaurant. So very disappointed. A small Vietnamese restaurant located on Parmer. The staff were friendly and fast. We were given bottled water as soon as we sat down. The server provided us a menu and gave us a few minutes to look it over and decide. I ordered the crawfish fried rice while my son had the large Pho. My fried rice came with a small bowl of buttery spices that I poured on the rice. It was sweet and spicy and added a good flavor to the crawfish. The serving size was large. In fact, my son's bowl was almost the size of a pot. The parking lot is large. However, the spaces are small. Overall, it was a good experience worth coming back to again. So, I have no complaints about the food or service. Both were good. So why did I leave pissed off? Because they lay their menu out in a deceitful way. They really, really make it seem like they offer a weekday lunch special of Bahn Mi plus Pho for 7$. I didn't even really want pho but for that price I said "sure, why not?" And it was fine but then I went to pay and it was like &17. I know I am not the first person that this has happened to because I told the worker who rang me up that the menu was misleading and was informed that management had been made aware but nothing had happened yet. It really does NOT seem like an honest mistake on the part of management. Redo your menu and offer me a free meal and I may go back some day. read more

The Ube Coffee. SO GOOD. I'm a sucker for sweet coffees. If you're a fan of Vietnamese coffee or Thai tea, you're sure to enjoy this too. It's rich, sweet, and the coffee flavor pairs perfectly with the creaminess of the ube. Plus, it's got a pretty purple color too. I also enjoyed the Banh Mi. They definitely don't skip out on any veggies or meat slices for you. I might ask for it to not be toasted next time for a softer bread though. I'll be coming back soon to try the pho! read more

After reading previous reviews, my husband and I decided to try Fresh Bowl ATX (previously Pho King). My husband ordered the Pho combination while I had to try out their Bun Bo Hue. The broth of the Pho was very tasty and flavorful. You also get the option of the typical premade pho noodles or their in house homemade thick pho noodles. Their Bun Bo Hue was okay. You definitely need to add in the side of chili that they bring out along with the soup if you want that spicy level. I did find it weird that they put some thinly sliced beef that is usually found in pho. I was sad that they didn't serve pork feet/bone in the soup. We also ordered their chicken wings. It came out very hot like right out of the fryer hot! The chicken wings were actually pretty big in size compared to Pluckers/Wingstop. The wings were good but on the sweeter side. Beware that the soups come out piping hot to where I burned my tongue, just a warning! Servers were attentive and very friendly! I'll definitely come back for their Pho and to try their Banh Mi which I heard through the grapevine was good. read more

If McDonalds did Vietnamese.... Fresh Bowl replaces a similar place I was not that impressed with. It's clean and bright, with multiple large-screen TVs and a laminated menu with photos of many of the dishes. That sounds good, but it somehow lacks the soul of my favorite pho places. I ordered one of my go tos, the Bun, vermicelli with grilled pork. The pork was a bit mushy and had no hint of the snap of actual grilled pork. My friend said the same thing about her "grilled" pork. The dish overall was pleasant, but no egg roll was included, which annoyed me. Another tablemate ordered the same thing but wanted that egg roll. The menu said you could add one for $1. He asked the server to add an egg roll and got--and was charged $5 for--an order of three egg rolls. Asked about the sausage in the Crawfish Fried Rice, our server had no idea what sort of sausage it was. He shrugged and said, "Just sausage." The calamari appetizer was declared "Meh" by my BF. But he just got back from Italy and that's a tough act to follow. Overall, it's not a bad place for lunch. Nothing was bad but nothing was great. I think Fresh Bowl is a chain--it certainly feels like one. I plan to stick to my regular local pho places, where the same woman has been seating you for years and you feel like grandma is in the back making the broth and the nephew who brings your steaming bowl knows everything that went into it cuz he's been in the kitchen since he was five. read more

(For those of you that don't know, that means hitting on all the right notes!) first of all I was born and raised in San Jose, CA on of the big cities across the nation where Vietnamese food is most heightened in flavor and taste. Since moving to Austin TX, 95% of Vietnamese is straight whack. It could be just me... but it doesn't match the standard of what I expect out of Vietnamese food. I have selected places and even then... it's about 75% there. Now to Fresh Bowl... it reminds me of my dad's cooking... not all the way there but that's pretty damn close. I have ordered back to back days since Friday and I'm about to order again today. The Banh mi... loaded with meat and and the bread was soft and with a light fluff... delicious! And then I ordered the next day it toasted, crunchy as well! To even have that option, loved it! Next the Bun Bo Hue... STRAIGHT HELLA BOMB!!! I ORDERED IT 2 DAYS IN A ROW!!! Noodles cooked right, tons of meat, the soup... wow... definitely had a moment! The profile was on point!!! Perfection of taste of saltiness of the shrimp paste, lemon grass, the pork flavor... ( had a good tear in my eye). Bun no hue is not an easy broth to make, its layers of profile for the broth..." My new favorite go-to restaurant in Austin!! I am reminded of an 888 but Vietnamese only and their dishes are honestly super consistent and delicious. The menu is quite extensive, and I've tried a great deal of it already. - ube coffee: It's a must get! I always order this every time I'm here, and I would even come just to get this. It's a great pick-me-up, especially since I have a habit of coming to Fresh Bowl early on Saturdays and Sundays after drinking. There's a really nice ube + coffee flavor - bo kho: the absolute best. The broth is so flavorful and beef-y, and I love ordering bread to dip into the broth. Their bread is also so delicious that I find myself taking bites of just the bread. - beef pho: arguably the best pho after PPL's. Order a side of their egg fatty broth! The meat quality is really good, and their pho is also incredibly flavorful. They give you an option of fresh noodles or regular noodles. I've tried the fresh noodles and I think they're pretty yummy, but I'm more of a traditional pho gal so I always opt for normal noodles. - beef appetizer? I can't remember what it's called, but there are essentially raw pieces of meat, vegetables, lime juice, and some crunchy crackers. This was so good. I would've never tried this if my friend hadn't ordered and let me try some, but it was such a nice appetizer. Definitely really filling, so I would be careful if you can't eat a lot! - BBH: so solid. I know everyone in Austin loves another restaurant's BBH, but I would also say that Fresh Bowl's is better. - hu tieu: my boyfriend got this last time when the bo kho wasn't available. We weren't expecting much because everything else on the menu is already so good, but it also blew us away! Broth is very flavorful. Their staff is so kind. Food comes out really fast, and there's a lot of seating! I highly recommend this place! This might be the only place that gives you an option to get fresh noodles for your pho. I highly suggest you get the fresh noodles because it is a game changer. They are so delicate and soft and it was so good. Ask for chili oil and pickled onions too! These are great additions to your bowl of pho. I also like that they give you a perfect portion of veggies for your pho too. I also want to give 5 stars for their service! Extremely friendly service and fast/efficient. Now usually it would be something of caution if your Asian establishment had great service because usually that means the food isn't good---BUT this is not the case here. This place had good food, good service, and literally only Asian people dining in when I came on a cold rainy day I was super satisfied with their pho and need to come back for their bun bo hue and their beef hotpot (which I saw a few diners sharing).
