Love, love, love this place! The Belgian waffles with a side of whipped cream and/or sweet mascarpone is to die for and my absolute favorite treat. My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed the various french toast, skillet and eggs Benedict dishes on the menu as they are consistently filling, abundant in portion size and beautifully plated. Best of all -- the servers are outstanding in that they're very attentive and efficient. Jena is an absolute sweetheart who remembers our favorite dishes and special requests every time. I wanted to check this place out so I went in yesterday around lunch time. Servers were all sitting at a bar type area rolling silver. I sat myself and shortly after a server came to my table. Overall service was fine, and speed of food was solid. Food quality was below average. Pancakes had little to no flavor and were dry. Eggs were not real eggs but whipped egg mix. Pretty good spot but you have to get here early due to the hours and it's pretty small. Food is good. I'm surprised they haven't relocated into a bigger place yet. I stopped there one day after dropping my niece off to school, and I must say, I am impressed by the hygenic nature of the diner. I had a black coffee which was really tasty, and then my darling husband and I shared a french toast, because I was really in the mood for one that day. All I can say, was that it was perfect. We had breakfast here one Sunday morning before heading to church. We showed up slightly before 9a and we got the last booth. Crowds appeared outside thereafter (there is no waiting area inside the restaurant). I had waffles and hashbrowns and my husband had a complete breakfast. First, the service was impeccable. That's about where the great review stopped. I got the apple and walnut salad with chicken. Quite disappointed in the price for the small amount of chicken that came in the salad. In addition, the raspberry vinaigrette was so thick it was strange. My husband got the chicken fried steak and although it was good, it was just okay. The fried okra was terrific, but the chicken tenders were marginal. Came here on a very busy Sunday morning. Really small and cramped space, we were thinking about just calling it a day and leaving. Told it would be 20 minutes but got sat in 10. The chairs were really uncomfortable so we switched over to a booth right in the front by the door which was kind of annoying since people were basically leaning their butts in our faces. It was our first time here but we were really in a hurry because we had to get to church. Told our waitress that, expecting her not to care, because most waiters don't. But she gave us a quick rundown of what's popular on the menu which made it really easy for us to just order right there on the spot. I think she told the kitchen we were in a rush because our food came out in 5 minutes...which is crazy because of how busy it was!! Props to Rumzeena our waitress. The food was excellent. The eggs were fluffy and the skillet my mom and I got was really good. My niece got a buffalo chicken sandwich which was seriously a kicker. Never tried a sandwich like that. Also ordered the two egg breakfast. The bacon was great. Good first impression, besides the cramped space and seating... but honestly, the food is worth it, we will definitely come back. Very clean and staff was courteous and friendly, worthy of the first two stars, the third was for menu diversity and relative value to portion. They lost one because of the food quality and flavor. Three Squares, 5th Street Cafe, The Depot and IHOP; I may be missing one or two, but this was the opportunity to shine and really bring out the diner mystique, the beloved greasy spoon where the kitchen goes all out on flavor and creativity. I ordered the chicken and waffles, $10.99 it came as four wedge pieces of a Belgian waffle, and two fried chicken tenders, served with a side of cream gravy. For starters, the chicken tenders are pre-breaded and frozen, flash fried to reheat but are very heavily breaded and flavorless. The waffle was crunchy, deep like a Belgian should be but other than that, nothing special. The cream gravy, heavy and thick with a raw flour taste. Such a shame, because fresh chicken and hand breading only takes a few seconds and is much better than frozen that I could easily have gotten at IHOP. This was a chance to shine, and instead it was a meh. I will go back and sample other items, but if they cannot do a quality C&W, what's the point? This is pretty much my favorite place for breakfast now. One they are so close to where we live, two everything is delicious, three their service is amazing. Try the glazed pancakes or Napa omelette, absolutely delicious. Or try the BBQ chicken salad for lunch or grilled cheese. I only wish they had better skillets, they are ok, you guys need a hamburger breakfast skillet, just saying. Other than that amazing. Yes it's small and always packed, but that's because it's great.
