Today was in Frisco and found the Frisco Diner. Yelp had 4+ rating and we tried it! Boy was I happy we did. Walked in and the place was packed but the hostess met up quickly and had us seated! She was very nice and friendly. The waitress then came and got our drinks. After which I asked for recommendation! She said she loved the Chicken fried Chicken. I was sold and order that with side salad and Okra!! Wife got the crispy chicken salad!! The food arrived and as the waitress had said all was very fresh and HOT!! The restaurant itself was very busy on a Sunday morning. Lots of people going in and out with everyone trying to talk over each other. I ordered a sweet tea and was given an unsweetened tea. At first I thought they didn't have sweet tea and had to use sweetener from the table container. When I asked the waitress she replied that they did have sweet tea. I think she even did the same thing to a table over. I also ordered the Southern Benedict. It had a sausage patty and creamy white gravy. The eggs were perfectly prepared and tasted delicious. I liked how they were able to handle the crowds with minimal wait time for a table and quick with getting the food out to the table. Consistently good breakfast, service is better than average. I've never had an amazing meal here, but I've had a dozen pretty good ones! This is a solid choice for breakfast if you're in the area. The menu offers pretty typical breakfast items, and good coffee. Not a tremendous amount of seating, so be prepared to wait a little bit if you come during typical peak hours. Not really impressed with the food. I got something simple. The eggs breakfast with hashbrowns and toast. The hashbrowns were kind of translucent like they weren't all the way cooked or they had just been cooked in too much oil. The toast was like the end of the loaf. Frisco Diner is a small, narrow, deep, rectangular shaped restaurant that is part of an outside shopping center area. Parking is minimal. We had to park around the corner. Make sure you find the hostess asap. We thought someone would greet us but then two groups walked ahead of us and they knew to get on a waitlist. You live, and learn, right? They do not take reservations but although they were really busy on this Saturday morning at 10 am we only waited for 15 - 20 minutes. Oh! One FYI tip: It was January, 35 degrees outside, and sitting anywhere near the front six tables would have made us miserable. The door opens frequently! The people who are waiting inside that door area are right on top of you and they cannot help but park their butts right in your face, no joke. We asked to be seated further back, lol. Been wanting to try this place for a while, finally got in here for some breakfast/ lunch! Stopped in on a weekday and had to wait to be seated, it's busy! I can only imagine this place would be crazy on a weekend, it's not too big. But that adds to the diner experience- it's loud and buzzing with energy and smells like fresh coffee and pancakes! Our server Amanda was great, kind and prompt service! My wife had the biscuits n gravy with over easy eggs and hash browns. She was super happy, she gets this pretty much every time we go to breakfast. She said it's the best she's had in a while, biscuits were soft, hot and really shinned with that savory and creamy gravy (not too salty) The hash browns were perfectly cooked, golden brown. We were a little disappointed that they didn't offer home style potatoes, just hash browns. They were good tho! I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and fries! Boy o' boy... it did not disappointment! First off let me say that the staff is helpful, polite and very quick. It's a simple diner with corrugated tin on the walls with booth and table seating. Now for the food. It was pretty basic with hash browns that are comparable to the ones you buy in the freezer section at the grocery store. My wife had the Buffalo Chicken $10.00, their fried chicken has a light batter and the portion of the chicken was very generous. They fried the chicken to perfection and tossed in buffalo sauce & topped with crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, provolone cheese & ranch dressing on a brioche bun. We usually get for breakfast the French connection with the berries and vanilla whipped cream with side of eggs as chicken sausage. The soups wraps and sandwiches are great for lunch.
