I LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about this place. The shop itself is really cute and right off the water. There is indoor seating and an outdoor space where there was a kiddo birthday party going on. The owners were just super friendly and kind and helpful and you can just tell that they love what they do. I got there when there weren't many people so I didn't have a very long wait, but it got pretty crowded afterwards. I got frites and scoop and I don't regret a thing. You get one specialty sauce with your fries and I got the Belgian mayo sauce. The fries were hot and crispy and so good. There is plenty of free ketchup and mustard available. I also got a sundae that I think they called a "chips and dips" because it had crushed potato chips on it as well as the other traditional sundae toppings. Yum. The ice cream was FANTASTIC! I'm updating my review since I recently experienced ordering an ice cream cake and it was fantastic! I ordered online through their website and was blown away by their phenomenal service. I didn't read the fine print about their hours of operation, so I accidentally requested pick up for a closed day. They offered to be available during my convenience, but in the end I picked up a day early instead (which worked out better for me in the end.) The cake was picture perfect when I picked it up and the recipient was so happy. The cake was a big hit with everyone. I would eat a F&S ice cream cake for every holiday! read more

We passed this little cute shop and as dutchies, we had to try their frites. They say it's Belgium frites because it's first fried on a low temperature and after it's cooled down, fried on a higher temperature. Exactly how i am used to fry frites. Belgium frites however are way thicker then these, but they are definitely delicious. We had to try with the Belgium mayonnaise of course, a little bit to much vinegar but still very tasty! One of my boys opted for ice cream and went with the marshmallow chocolate, very creamy and fresh made, not too sweet. Definitely try when in the area! read more

After meeting one of the owners, Kevin, who served us this evening, you can tell that he is living his passion. This is a great ice cream ship right on the water. It has a great atmosphere, friendly service, and then amazing taste. The flavors are unique, and the ones that sound familiar are simply better than you'd imagine. My favorite was the vanilla rose cardamom ice cream, made with real vanilla bean, and had a perfect hint of floral rose and cardamom companionship. I also loved their zest lime which was made with lime curd, so that was a nice twist. I'm refraining from 5 stars only because I still need to try the other half of the business...the frites! Delicious ice cream without the Portland wait. They have about 10 different flavors and you get a scoop on a cone or in a bowl. So far have only had one flavor but it was delicious. They have a few places to sit but not a lot. The cement ledges in front can also be used for sitting. Otherwise just grab a cone and keep walking along the beautiful water front. read more

I enjoyed the ice cream very much until I found a long strand of hair in the middle of it. After that I just had to throw the rest of it away. Bleh. Fortunately that opened me up to eating the fries without being concerned about mixing the sweetness of the ice cream with the flavor of the sauce provided for the fries. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and narrowly beat the long line right behind us. This place gets super busy really quickly. The krumkae (sp?) waffle cone was incredible. It was fresh and had a little bit of chocolate at the bottom. I was pretty upset with my husband when he asked for a taste of the ice cream but ate the entire middle part of my delicious cone. Needless to say, it was worth it. I got a single scoop of Fresh Mint Chip. I'm so used to the store bought mint chocolate chip, that I honestly wasn't expecting FRESH mint (duh on me, though...hence the name.) And it was awesome. I was a bit surprised to see that seemingly nobody in the store had their Frites...which was strange considering it was part of their namesake. Can't speak for those, but they seem like they'd be good. A little overpriced IMO for ice cream, but I suppose it's because of the fresh ingredients. My husband and I paid $8 for the waffle cones ($1) total for the waffle cones, and $3.50 for a single scoop of ice cream. Woah. Our ice cream was a little bit creamier than I would have liked and seemed more like gelato in our cones. Not my preference, but it wouldn't stop me from trying it again. Friendly service, efficient queue system. Definitely worth a trip if you're strolling around downtown Astoria. read more
