Great homemade icecream! Try the hokey pokey, my fav.

Saw the "frite" sign and had to stop! My boyfriend and I ordered Cocoa Pokey ice cream and a small frite as a snack. Needless to say, we didn't need lunch afterward, because the portions are so filling! You MUST order the Curry Ketchup- it's so authentic and delicious. I wanted to take a bottle home. Was worried that this place wouldn't live up to the hype, but it definitely did! I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and there was a short line with a steady flow of customers. I sampled three flavors and was most impressed with the sour cream blueberry and its strong fruity flavor. Around a dozen or less flavors offered, with a good variety of classic and unique flavors. The tubs of ice cream are small, like half the size of a typical ice cream place, so I'm not surprised that flavors sell out quickly. The people working here were friendly and more than happy to hand out samples. They offer three types of cones and the $.50 extra charge for the krumcake was worth it...tasted freshly made and reminded my companion of a pancake. $4 for a single scoop in the krumcake cone. They also have a mini size for like $2, which I appreciate. Frites come in three sizes with a large selection of complimentary sauces and fancy sauces for an upcharge. I got a regular size, the smallest size, with the rosemary sea salt and North Coast Fry Sauce for $4. There are a few tables outside the shop and they bring the frites out to you (very short wait). Decent portion of frites and I loved the long and sturdy shape. No tiny end of batch leftovers here! Generous portion of sauce, which was tasty. Besides ice cream and frites, they have a large variety of glass bottled sodas, many which I've never heard of. I also saw some large cookies on display behind the counter. Wonderful ice cream! We were in town for the stout beer festival and decided to stop in for a treat after trying some of the Earl Grey ice cream at Baked Alaska the night before. The proprietors are wonderful people and will let you try as many samples as you'd like. The honey candy and the chocolate stout ice creams were amazing. I had to get the peanut butter cookie though, because I love peanut butter. No frites yet, they expect to have their deep fryer up and running some time next month. The flavor combinations are so astounding ribbons of warm black licorice and caramel running together over the creamiest custard you've ever put in your mouth. Delicate flavor combinations like cardamom and rose. Colorful scoops of a golden Tumeric ice cream. And that's just the ice cream part of the whole other side of the business is selling the most delicious french fries ever they are a double processed and served to you with your choice of like nine different house made dips or you can just dip them in the ice cream. This place is crack. Never have I had such good ice cream. It's honestly the best I've ever had. I can tell there's a lot of attention to detail put into each flavor that they have which are clearly homemade. Speaking of the flavors, they rotate often so there's always something new. The "frites" (french fries as I know them) are awesome as well and there's a lot of sauces that pair nicely. It's genius how well the saltiness of the fries pairs with the perfectly creamy ice cream. The homemade ice cream was delightful, the staff were amazing (kind, sweet and patient through a ton of samples for kids and adults). Great tasting ice cream, very rich and unique flavors. I ordered a custom sundae and it was super decadent. Highly recommended the chefs choice flavor if you are in to malt. My only qualm was that when making a custom sundae you can't substitute another topping for the whipped cream and chips that normally come on it. You get to choose one topping and then whip+chip is included sundaes, but I simply asked to do two toppings instead of whip and was shut down, it didn't make much sense as the value of the whip was no different than some more sprinkles (according to their menu) read more

Everything I tried was amazing. The ice cream was so good and so were the frites (fries). There were so many cool flavors, but of course, we had to pick one. And I also got the fries with the lemon aoli. They fry the fries just like in Europe. Hot and crispy, with soft inside. Not a ton of space to sit down, but no need as there is plenty to see around the town and if you want, there are some benches outside or a little bar that looks out towards the street. I stopped here yesterday w my dog and husband. The ice cream is all hand made on site and i give it a 4 star for flavors but i scored them a 3 star. :They sell homemade dog biscuits for 50 cents each. That is pricey. I bought 2 and my dog loved them but honey think 3 for a $1 would be better price. We ordered the fries and were told 7 min. 11 minutes later, they came to our table. They were homemade but just OK. I have had way better homemade fries. Oh, And dogs are NOT allowed inside. I think a sign on the door would be nice. I started to walk in to buy a dog treat and was told I had to leave my pup outside. If you sell dog treats, You should allow dogs in. JMHO. read more

Really good ice cream but I am pretty disappointed with the experience! I got a single split scoop of the Milky Way icecream and the Hokey Pokey. The half of Hokey Pokey icecream I received was very quite lacking on the honey comb candy pieces. She gave me quite a small scoop for $3.50. I was looking forward to the really friendly and eager workers that some of reviews talked about. In fairness I came into the store at about 7:50 on a Sunday on which they close at 8. Love, love this place! I was too full to order anything but took a sample and then a bite of everyone else's ice cream who was part of our day trip adventure. Then I took another bite. And maybe a few others too. Could not stop! I was out of control and should have gone back through line to get my own. The flavors were innovative but still made sense. No outlandish savory flavors (though those can be quite good too and perhaps do get featured here), just amazing, decadent, treat filled goodness. From the lemon, to coconut something something, to the peanut butter chocolate, it was all good! I'm not one to go out of my way for ice cream. Ice cream has to be special for me to step away from my usual favorite go-to's for a sweet indulgence. But we are definitely returning here our next drive to Astoria. Soon.
