If you're craving Italian food (specifically fresh sourdough bread) this is the perfect local SouthBay spot! We came here for our casual anniversary dinner because we craved local Italian with Cousine that we could dress very casual for. Ambiance: A little loud, great for families or dates. You will have to speak loud due to this being a smaller place and the lighting is bright. Menu: We have had the Cajun/heavy cream dishes before and although they are delicious, they are very heavy and will leave you very full (almost sick). Even though it might joggt sound as good when your hungry, opt for the lighter options such as the specials or Sicilian/ pesto dishes! Then snack on the fresh bread and plan on getting dessert. We always get the specials... this last time we got the mahi Sicilian spinach linguine which satisfied every craving and the lamb pesto/ mushroom dish. Parking: parking may be difficult in the evenings as it is 1 hour parking in Hermosa during the summertime. Or snag a metered spot for 2-3 hours (some only take quarters). 0r park at the green belt for free parking but light have to walk 0.5 miles to the restaurant (which is ideal if you plan on walking the strand or watching the sunset). Dranks: We brought our own bottle of wine and it was a $3/person corkage fee. Service: I would rate 3.5/5. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about. They do well at explaining the specials and different options but also pressure you into a decision pretty quickly. I love love love this place! I can never decide what to get because everything is amazing. The ravioli is always good, as is the Mediterranean (I add chicken). My new favorite might be pasta New Orleans. It's not spicy, but very flavorful and has a nice kick. Save room for tiramisu! read more

The salad was the best thing we ordered here. It was refreshing, with organic greens, a light somewhat sweet dressing, with some feta cheese. The Gnocchi was alright The sausage lasagna was a disappointment, i didn't eat it after a few bites. It had chunks of bell peppers, onions and mushroom--who does that? Fritto Misto is a small Italian restaurant within walking distance of the Hermosa Beach pier. The inside definitely gave off Italian family vibes. Unfortunately Fritto Misto does not take reservations so be prepared to wait a bit to get seated, it does get pretty busy on Fridays and weekends. The service staff was friendly but they seemed a bit overwhelmed with all the customers when we went, so don't expect too much attention. That said, their food was very good and they do provide bread as an appetizer. I ordered the Chicken Parmesana Hermosa and it was very flavorful. The portions were very generous and it definitely could feed two people. The pasta seemed fresh and the sauce was excellent. Stopped in last night with a group of coworkers for dinner. We arrived on a Wednesday at 6:30pm for dinner and there was about a 15 min wait. The restaurant is on the smaller side with no outdoor seating. As soon as we were seated we received a little dish of crushed garlic, a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of balsamic vinegar along with a generous basket of delicious bread. We ordered the recommended fried calamari which was delicious. We all ordered different dishes and everyone raved about how delicious through food was. I ordered the spaghetti with grilled chicken but received shrimp instead. It was fine, but I really wanted the chicken. The food was really excellent as we ordered a lunch special pasta and pasta pancetta. The pasta pancetta was amazing. The service was pretty bad. We received bread with out plates. I asked for balsamic and olive oil that I never got. Water cups without straws. Some of this is common sense especially in COVID environment with straws. This is the "gem" of Hermosa Beach!!! The food was exceptional. I had a wonderful plate of sliced tomatoes roasted in garlic, basil and olive oil served on spaghetti with seared chicken. We were craving pasta and found this place near our hotel. Love the ambiance and the wait staff was very friendly. The bread was warm and I had an appetizer which was pillow stuffed with ricotta. They were a little doughy but I enjoyed them and loved the sauce that came with. My wife had the veggie lasagna. Not enough layers on pasta in this dish and hence the four stars. I had the Cajun chicken pasta. The menu said spicy but it really wasn't. The chicken was flavorful but the pasta needed a bit of salt. Maybe they didn't put salt when boiling. Fritto Misto has an interesting take on Italian food. There are many "traditional" dishes where they clearly take their liberties and also have many other additions you wouldn't see on many other Italian restaurant menus. While some people would see this as a positive, I see it as a place that's trying to do too much to be able to execute it well. Their portion sizes are quite large, which I guess is a positive. Even though their menu is large, I struggled to find something that I would actually eat. Finally settled on the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, which if you see the attached photo, it was quite dark. The meat was charred and the whole dish tasted burnt. I've been to Fritto Misto several times. I really like this restaurant. It had a really cozy feeling with very friendly staff. That's very important to me. The Sauces and pasta are very flavorful and tasty. They are currently my favorite Italian restaurant! I like the interesting and creative dishes! I have to say the Garlic Shrimp is my absolute favorite! It's sooo good! The only constructive criticism that I can provide is.... I'm not a fan of the complimentary bread. This place is phenomenal. I've had their food at catered events twice and it was amazing. Coming here for myself was a delight. They have a very large menu, and a "make your own" pasta option where you can choose your toppings and sauce. I had the Shrimp and Artichoke Gnocchi, and the gnocchi is stuffed with Gorgonzola. It was amazing. My friend had the sweet potato ravioli with cream sauce and it was also delicious. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake and the tiramisu - both were great. Parking is a little tricky, but there's a public parking lot about a block away. They only take reservations for parties of six or more. We had a short wait on a Friday night, but I would have waited much longer to eat here. Highly recommend. read more

Food was AMAZING we ate here the last week of November. Due to covid there was no indoor seating , which was understandable butttttt.... we did freeze outside ! We ate at 5pm outside at a table in the side walk. The view of the sunset was beautiful and food was delicious, only complaint was there was heaters at every restaurant but this one. I use to really love this place hence the 3 stars. Since covid I've been ordering to-go and every single time is failed me. Lumping 3 incidents in one. Food was luke warm and pasta was hard. I love al dente but this was like they threw already portioned pasta in and didn't give it enough time to even undo its shape. Chicken in the pasta was cardboard dry and burnt. Portion size for to-go didn't even make sense. Portion seems much smaller. Didn't get us full and when we dine in, there's always leftovers . Their bread and butter was our highlight of the meals. Value for to-go should be less than 1 star. Quality and overall pricing is lacking. @makeMePrettie recommends eating inside. I hope the quality is still the same before covid happened dinning indoors but I won't be getting to-go again from here. Better eat inside read more

I've ordered the chicken picatta about 8 times. It's so good that I haven't wanted to try anything else. The sauce is so good, and it comes with 2 large pieces of chicken. It comes with a good portion of pasta, but I typically order it with vegetables for $3 more. $21 with pasta and $24 with vegetables. My favorite vegetable to order with it is artichoke hearts. The only thing I don't like is that when you get it to go or delivered the container they put it in always leaks making it messy. read more

The cousins had hoped to meet us at another restaurant -- one of their faves -- but it was closed for repairs. So I turned to Yelp and found this one. They live nearby but had never been here. They don't take reservations for groups under 6 people, but figured we'd take a chance... The inside is unassuming. But obviously popular, as every table was full. It's a bit rustic -- wood tables without cloths or even place mats. Service was fast and efficient. Drinks came out right away while we perused the menu. On the table were two baskets (one for each couple) of crusty home style bread. So good. Even the dieters were tempted. I had their chicken piccata. A large portion of two chicken medallions in lemon sauce wit capers over linguine pasta. Quite good. I gave my leftovers to them to take home. Others ordered chicken Marsala, pasta puttanesca, and spaghettini with added chicken. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals.
