I was excited about Fritzi Coop as I was researching where to eat at the farmers market and this place had delicious looking pictures. I can second what others have written, expect to wait & the service is pretty bland. BUT I did enjoy my meal overall, huge chuck of juicy fried chicken. Details: Expect to wait people! I came early and the market was only like 30% full. The line was short here and it appeared only 3 people ahead of me waiting for their meal. Despite coming early and then not being busy the wait was 15 minutes. I know that's not horrible but other establishments in the market are GO go go. I can imagine when they are busy here the wait is 30, 40+ minutes. For that kind of a wait I'd say ship, but 10 mins or so it'd say worth it. Service: to second another review I read. Service is pretty bland. I must have had the same young girl whom doesn't engage or even look at you. Wasn't a huge deal but some spunk or casual friendliness can be nice sometimes. For the food: I'd say a solid 4 stars. I ordered the Stinger. Basically fried chicken sandwich slathered in a delicious buffalo sauce, plus a slaw on top. The chicken pieces are huge! Nice crunchy batter. But the meat is dark! They were not transparent about this or advertised it from what I could see, didn't bother me but I understand many don't like the dark meat. It's definitely more greasy and chewy at times. I think this place is overall maybe a 3.5 but I'll bump it up. This isn't the NEW HIP place that everyone will be flocking to but in comparison to what's at the farmers market it's worth a try. read more

Their fried chicken sandwiches are worth the price of parking and the short walk from the parking lot. Some of us may have forgotten what it's like to walk through an outdoor food court. It's at Farmer's Market in mid city. The chicken is tender and crispy. With the right dip or sauce...awesomeness. Curly fries are crunchy Check them out next time you're near Farmers Market. Definitely one of the better fried chicken sandwiches I've had! Located on the eastern side of the Farmer's Market, Fritzi's offers some delicious fried chicken sandwiches (buffalo to spicy to classic). Because of the location, it's a little pricey for a sandwich ($11) but it sure does pack some serious flavor. They ran out of the naked fried chicken when we went but luckily I was going to order a sandwich anyway. I opted for just the classic which comes with this awesome housemade pimento sauce. The sauce was tasty... couldn't imagine the sandwich without it. As far as the chicken goes, it was nice and crispy. It was fried beautifully and was still moist and juicy to retain the flavor. The brioche bun was great too. The lady behind the counter said that her favorite is the Memphis, which has a little heat to it. I wasn't feeling spicy that night but I might have to try that when I come back. I also got a side of tater tots which were nicely prepared too. I wish they gave more ketchup in their to-go container though. It barely filled half the sauce container! Delicious & huge chicken sandwich! Although a little pricier than your average chicken sandwich, the size of this meal does not disappoint. Located at The Grove's Farmers Market, it's is a nearly perfect place to stop by with friends and family because it is loaded with shaded benches and tables to enjoy your food. My meal was definitely filling and tasty! I upgraded to the bigger fries and would recommend for anyone with a bigger appetite. If you are in the area and want a great chicken sandwich with some lively ambiance-- this is the place for you! read more

Honestly, I thought it was just OK. The Stinger is way too salty for my liking. That's all I can taste - salty and vinegary. Incredibly messy to eat so grab a lot of napkins. The Memphis does have a tiny little kick, wish it was spicier. I can tell they used dried chilies for their sauce. Also incredibly messy to eat and the sauce stains because of the oil so be careful. The Classic is by far the best one. Nice crunch/texture and good balance of flavors. I actually like that they used sweet pickles and the pimento cheese was interesting. We also ordered tator tots and you really can't go wrong with that. I might come back to try their lunch set. It looks reminiscent to a Chick Fil A sandwich and the price isn't bad for what's all included. read more

Got the classic. The crispness and moistness of the chicken was on point and the spiciness was perfect. The sandwich itself was not constructed very well. One bite and it completely fell apart. It was such a mess and made it hard to enjoy. Plus the spiciness was in the coleslaw which made it double spicy. The coleslaw is supposed to help offset the spiciness of the sandwhich but it made it super hotter then the level of heat I wanted. I had to take it off the sandwhich just to finish eating it. read more

I asked for bbq sauce was told it was .60 cents I gave him my card because I didn't have change he told me he had to charge me at least a $1 because of their machine being unable to charge .60 cents I declined he then took the bbq sauce out of my hand and threw it in the garbage... my food was cold, bland & over priced smdh read more

Chicken was very dry, bland, tasted like it was just reheated, including the bread -- I got the classic. They provided a sauce on the side so that kind of helped with the dryness, but still, nothing special. Curly fries tasted typical. Expected more for a $30 combo meal. I wouldn't recommend and would never try again. read more

This place has delicious chicken sandwiches. I got the deal with the sandwich and tater tots and a drink which was priced very fairly for a place inside the grove. Also ordered the Mac and cheese balls which was a nice side. Fortunately there was no line and I was able to get my food fairly quickly. Will definitely return in the future read more

We got the combo special that came with tator tots (you have choice of curly fries as well), chicken sandwich, and a drink (lemonade, you have choice of sweet tea as well). I liked the tator tots better than the sandwich. The sandwich didnt taste that good to be frank - kind of dry, small chicken, and taste wasn't too pleasant. Lemonade was good. Tator tots were really yummy. I'd spend your money elsewhere in the market. read more

One of the best hot chicken sandwiches I've had. Went over a month ago. So damn good, and actually spicy with great flavor. Got the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich in hot, the piece of chicken was a good size and the coleslaw inside and pickles went really well with it & the bun was good too. The roasted corn was ok, think it would've tasted better hot not cold. Washed it all down with a Mexican coke. It's located inside the farmers market and is a bit pricey but for me it was worth it. Will definitely get it again next time I'm there read more

Venturing out to see what's good in the Farmer's Market and stumbled upon a chicken shop. My friend and I ordered the tenders + tots and boneless buttermilk fried chicken with a side of coleslaw. It was really smooth and crispy. I think a sandwich would've been tastier, but I needed something quick to eat so a cutlet did me good. Water costs $2. I got the lunchbox sandwich combo which comes with a Jr chicken sandwich, Jr curly fries or tots, and a small drink for $13.14 after taxes. The sandwich was a decent size, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it. The flavor was very bland and left a lot to be desired. Let me first start by saying my sandwich looked like it did on the display. It was juicy. It was spicy. The bread was soft and the tater tots were crunchy. The downside is the chicken lacked flavor, mainly salt - any kind would have been good but specifically it needed some seasoning besides the spicy flavor. Way too many jalapeños- in every color and shape had my lips burning - would have been great if chicken has some seasoning. And $16.75 too much for this sandwich considering it's dark meat and not chicken breast. There were a lot of people and I appreciate the customer advice and the guys cooking in the back - they were getting those orders out but not sure if I would come back. The chicken strips were better than the sandwich but again could use more flavor. read more

Summary: Very fresh Classic chicken sandwich, but with little flavor at a great price. Review: My goal to find the best chicken sandwich brought me over to Fritzi Coop one day on my stroll through the Farmer's Market. As I approached the food spot, I was a little intimidated by the prices as it was almost $10+ for the sandwich itself. The workers were pleasant and explained the different options that others tend to get. As someone who cannot handle spice, I opted to go with their Classic chicken sandwich pictured below. This chicken sandwich was bigger than most chicken sandwiches from other restaurants, yet it was still pricier than what it is worth in my opinion. Assuming because it's from the Farmer's Market, the sandwich was very fresh. You can taste the freshness of the chicken, in addition to the vegetables and bread that come along with it. The texture of the sandwich was also nice, with the right amount of crisp and juiciness. However, the sandwich lacked substantial flavor. It felt very bland and/or unseasoned. You can argue that the flavor is to come with the sauces (you have to pay extra for) or it was the lack of spice, but the Classic chicken sandwich itself did not have outstanding flavor. Overall, I'd say you're paying the relatively high price for the freshness of the chicken sandwich, but the prices do not positively reflect the size or flavor of the sandwich even though it was relatively bigger than most sandwiches. read more

Located in the Farmers Market section of the grove, I found the line very manageable at lunch time. The service was great and both the people I spoke with were friendly. The guy serving the food was also funny! I had the very basic lunchbox special, with a side of tots and Sweet Tea for $12.00. That's very reasonable for the area. It came with cheese, and usually that's something that costs extra so it was nice it was included. The food was good, but nothing too crazy or different. The relish had a nice kick, and the buffalo sauce and ranch I ordered for my tots was good! I do plan on returning. read more

I've tried a little bit of their Memphis Sandwich last year when my brother shared some of it with me. So coming back, this time I get to try their hot spicy chicken sandwich all to myself. Out of their four specialty chicken sandwiches I wanted to go with the hottest and that's "The Memphis" ($13.25). Considering it was an expensive price, I gotta say I was a little disappointed with it. I optioned for white meat and that's a dollar more. The chicken patty wasn't meaty at all, it was very thin. The heavy crispy coating disguises it like you'll get a bulk of meat. Every bite I make I can taste mostly the bread buns and there was barely any spicy coleslaw in it. I did like the crispy coating exterior with the light tangy and mild hot sauce, but thats about it. You can choose either curly fries or tater tots. The cashier didn't offer me to choose for one of them, so by default the seasoned curly fries are included in the meal. The Sweet Tea for $3.75 drink can pass, it was flavorless and flat. Total combined for everything I paid for came to $18. Now that's really expensive. With a few people ahead of me, the wait time took about 13 minutes for my order to be ready. For $12 they advertise a combo deal in smaller servings of the chicken sandwich, curly fries or tater tots , and a choice of lemonade or sweet tea. They offer tasty looking eats here, but its not really all that for the price. read more

The lunch box combo was mediocre at best. It cost $15.06 with a drink and like everything else at the Farmer's Market is overpriced. The display looks ok but deceiving. The lemonade next door at the BBQ place is cheaper and just as good or better. $15.06 for weak to mediocre is not a good deal. read more

I had high hopes.. now you know it's gotta be bad when your starving and a friggin $17 chicken sandwich is so bad you don't finish it! Yep $17 in the trash. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich which tasted like they poured the ENTIRE sauce bucket on this chicken breast and added 2lbs salt. Way over priced and inedible for me.. save your money and walk up the street to any other food joint but here. Woof! So bad guys :( Ps. 12hrs later and I've been up sick all night. When I visited, they had a special for Chicken Tenders and Waffles. The tenders were so crispy and I had the leftovers in the morning, and they were STILL crispy. The service was fast and great. I think the cashier could tell I wasn't from out of town and had trouble with the menu, he offered me extra chicken tenders for free. Came here on a busy Saturday at the Farmer's Market and couldn't have been happier. Started with the friendly staff - order-takers at the Farmer's Market are not generally known for friendliness, Fritzi's is definitely the exception! The pictures on the menu helped a ton as well... except I still somehow under-estimated how big the Mac N Cheese balls were and ordered 7! We ended up only needing 5 between me and my son. "The Stinger" lived up to it's name, flavorful and spicy, but not over-bearing as long as you order a water to go along with it. Will definitely be back next time I get a craving for a great, filling Chicken Sandwich! read more

Only docking a star because the flavor has definitely changed over the course of visiting for about two years, but not for the worst. This place is a new offering by Fritzi in downtown LA. It's located in the farmer's market and it has a slightly smaller menu. Came to fritzi coop for lunch with friends. I ordered the wings and my friends orders the chicken sandwiches and sides. I gave Fritzi in DTLA a 4 star review because I was really not a fan of the potato waffle they served. This place gets a 5 star because they didn't offer it here which eliminated the only negative thing about the other location. The chicken sandwiches here are as always excellent. They're each about 11 dollars. Nice and thick pieces of chicken with a lot of different types of sauces. They also offer chicken tenders here at this location. 4 pieces for about 7 dollars. I personally ordered the 6 piece wings for 7.50 with buffalo sauce. The were a completely batterless fry but still tasted great and still crispy. They have a ton of sides here as well, was able to try the brussel sprouts with pepita seeds and golden beets. Really great and delicious. Definitely recommend people to come here and try their fried chicken and fried chicken sandwiches! read more

Fritzi wins as best friend chicken in the area. Amazing chicken sandwich with a side of fries. We shared the sammy as we wanted to sample other items in the market although because of the size of the sandwich we could only enjoy a small ice cream. Was walking by and decided to try this place. Ok,right off the bat I have to say pretty mediocre and overpriced. Looking at the back kitchen, they precook the filet and let it sit to refry when an order comes in. So when I got mine it was burnt and meat stringy and tough like leather. And the whatever pimento sauce they use as their spread dont taste good. Bitter and sour taste. Not my flava. And the price way to high. For $14 for sandwich not much bigger then an $6 chcik fil a, which taste way better. Sides such as tator tots look tempting but at $4 and if their precooked chciken filet is any indication its overpriced. Overall, I would skip till they get rid of the precooking and lower the price. Pretty good food. Ran out of tea and only had lemon aid. Pretty pricey. I should have ordered the white meat on the chicken but didn't want to pay the extra dollar; however, I think I would've enjoyed the food a lot more with the white meat. Purchased two the medium spicy chicken sandwich and tater tots with a cup of water for $30. Have to ask for a straw. Overall okay but not fantastic for the price. read more

The curly fries are awesome. But the coleslaw was pretty bland and the chicken was kind of gross. The meat felt like it wasn't cooked through enough, only enough to fry the hell out of the batter/skin (which was really thick). I ate two bites of the chicken and immediately felt sick. My stomach definitely doesn't feel good. Nothings been purged yet but I sure wish it would read more

I also couldn't help noticing that although the dining room feels like something of a relic, it is very well maintained. There were no dirty tables and no trash on the floor. I was genuinely shocked when the cashier came out to ask how everything was and whether we needed anything else. Most fast-food chains seem determined to eliminate as much human interaction as possible. Pioneer Chicken was a refreshing reminder that fast food can still be friendly, clean and satisfying. Pioneer Chicken is a winner in my book!
