Froggie's is a family favorite. It's one of the first places I ate on Shore Drive, and it's one of the places I always go back to... The FOUR stars would be five -- but I don't want to your expectations to be too high. So much at Froggie's right and good!!! - Good deals/specials, good food, very friendly service, etc... I love going to froggies! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it makes it hard to leave. Food is decent, haven't had a lot of the items in the menu ad I loveee the chips and guacamole so I end up eating them every time I go there. Also, poker night is a must! Tuesdays at 7pm and Sundays in the afternoon. Super fun!! Wish I still had the schedule to go to poker night but as soon as I have will definitely be back! My first time at Froggies and I will be back!!! The food, the ambiance and the service was incredible. We started with the catfish bites. The catfish was so tender! Next we had rack of ribs and I ordered the Cubano. The Cubano was 5 star!! Our waitress, Amy, explained the pickles are homemade at the restaurant! The ribs were so yummy! DINNER: My boyfriend, dog (Xena), and I went in for dinner on August 23, 2014. The service was absolutely wonderful. We sat on the patio because we had our dog with us and the hostess immediately replaced the water in the doggie water bowl with fresh water. We had barely finished sitting down and were greeted by Jeff Ayers (who i believe is the manager). Mr. Ayers came out and greeted Xena and gave her a doggie treat. That was a pleasant surprise :) Then we were greeted by our waitress, Jennifer, who was also very friendly towards Xena and extremely helpful to my boyfriend and I when making our food selections. Everything Jennifer suggested was delicious. For appetizer we had the lumpia and they can out fast and fresh. I had the charbroiled chicken breast with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. My Boyfriend had the full rack of ribs with sauteed spinach and mac and cheese. The ribs were so soft and melted right off the bones. The food was so good! We also had alcoholic drinks that were fantastic!! Jennifer was very attentive and sweet. Even the cook came out to ask us how our food was!!! I was impressed. While having dinner Debbie, the owner's wife, came by to make sure Xena had a treat and to say his to the 3 of us. I was very impressed by how friendly everyone was towards us and especially Xena. Xena is practically my baby, so this made me extremely happy. Debbie asked us how I meal was and we told her it was absolutely delicious. She informed us that they offer brunch on Sunday and told us that it was only $10 with $2 mimosas and bloody mary's. We were sold and told her we would be back the next day for brunch. BRUNCH: Sunday, August 24, 2014. Because dinner the night before had been amazing I had high expectations for brunch. Sadly brunch was not as great as dinner. There was no one at the hostess stand, so we sat ourselves, although we were greeted shortly after we sad down by a very nice man (I didn't get his name). We told him that we were there for brunch and he told us to help ourselves. I would have loved to, except that 2 of the 4 trays they had with food were empty. So my only options were scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy, and the 2 pieces of french toast (that I took). I ended up having an omelet made (which they only had ham and cheese as options to be mixed in, so that was a little disappointing). The cook (the same as the night before) asked if I wanted him to add a little garlic for an extra hint of flavor to my ham omelet. That was very nice of him to offer. I appreciated him going out of his way. I got back to my table and when my boyfriend saw what was available for brunch, he opted to order a burger from the menu instead. The brunch was ok. I do not feel that we received the same level of service as the night before ( I think they were a little busier during brunch) but it was not bad. I t was still good service. Although, this time around no one offered Xena any doggie treats or water. We had to specifically ask for a bowl of water for Xena and as for the lack of treat...that was okay, we fed her bacon :) All in all this place was fantastic. All places have their "somewhat off" days and no place can be perfect 100% of the time. We were happy. :) read more

Some of the worst bbq I have ever had. The 1/2 smoked chicken was both tough and undercooked (I don't know how they managed this). The service was good, but the food was not. Great music, but eat before going. Hey, some friends had a really bad chicken sandwich last weekend: "slightly raw chicken". This week we wanted to see Mike Profitt and Dana Silvercloud. They were great and always are. Such wonderful musicians. Froggies has the best music on Shore Drive. We decided to have some chicken tenders, since they are hard to screw up. Well, the chicken tenders had bones in them and tasted like they should have been rinsed off before cooking. The waitress apologized but the damage had been done. Froggies has been on my radar for a while. I heard that they had great live music and they did not disappoint! We ordered the jalapeño poppers which were very tasty. But at only three to an order, it didn't seem like we were getting much for our money. With all of the beer choices available we were sad that they didn't offer any sours. Great breakfast and the server was awesome... Dog friendly deck makes the place a home run hang out spot. The grits are the real thing, I haven't seen grits this authentic anywhere else in the beach area. Just a quick review to help out those looking for great BBQ on Shore Drive! Froggies rebranded itself last year with the addition of Chef Chris Bailey and his dedication to slowly smoked meats of all kinds. Great brisket, pork, even fish and chicken, with that pink ring of goodness and great, simple sauces. The decor has been redone- beautiful wood floors, a beach centric BBQ motif that is now less crowded with two bars and lots of seating inside and out, and a short walk off the deck to the beach! But food and music are the main focus at Froggies, and you won't be disappointed! I had the brisket covered cheese fries, with homemade queso and fresh green onions and wonderful brisket that was moist and just a bit fatty (which good brisket should be!) and plenty for a meal or to share with two people. I ordered food for curbside pickup for Father's Day. I even called back 30 minutes before I was due to pick it up to confirm. I took the order home and low and behold it was wrong. The food was ok. Bobby & I go as often as possible when we are in town as we really enjoy Froggies. The food is good and the atmosphere is great!! Stopped by for brunch the other day and Bobby had eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast..... was good but not exciting! Now my lunch was a Fajita chicken taco salad! Honestly it was awesome! Loaded with chicken , tomatoes, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, salsa and the BEST guacamole I've had in ages! Everything was fresh made and delicious! Debbie & Bill have done a lot of remodeling since they bought the restaurant! New bathrooms and lots of neat an colorful and fun changes!! They have an event almost every night and live music often! When we showed up at 7pm on a Saturday, it was almost empty, not busy in the slightest. We were seated right away, but our waitress (who I found out was probably her first day, because she barely knew the menu and seemed distracted whenever anything happened around her) didn't come to our table for almost 10 minutes to take our drink order. Once we finally ordered our food, it came out quickly. We got the Cubano (which was ok) and the ribs (which tasted good, but were chewy and not tender). There was a band setting up just as we were finishing up our meals, so I can't say anything for the evening nightlife there. I came here tonight with friends to celebrate a birthday and I was disappointed. Let me say my waiter was super nice but his kitchen and bar made it impossible for him to provide great service. It began when we all ordered drinks to start, my water arrived with what looked like paper in my glass. I kindly sent it back. Then we ordered apps and I got the catfish bites I ate one and it was delicious then the second one I picked up had hair wrapped and fried around it. The waiter saw me pick it off and too it back with no question. I ordered my dinner and a drink and not only did they both take a really long time to come, upon arrival 2/3 meals of my table arrived cold. Like cold beans, cold meat, literally like they pulled the sides out the fridge and just put them on our plates. We again had to send food back. The waiter was kind enough to comp my meals but even that won't be enough for me to come back again. I was disappointed because I've heard such great things about this place. I can't recommend this place based on my experience, maybe it was just an off night. read more
