Huge disappointment, yet again. We gave Frontera Grill a second try and it was just as bad as the first visit. The food is bland, the fresh guacamole was very wet, and the margaritas are ok at best. The service varies, the first time our waitress was great, but during this last visit the waitress we had was a total nightmare. She would forget everything you asked her for and that just added to the frustration of the flavorless Tex-Mex food they were serving. Everything I've had here has been amazing. The service is always fantastic. I'm sad it took me so long to try it but since going for the first time about 3 months ago, I'm there once or twice a week. I highly recommend the table side guac and don't be scared of the mango in it, so good! Also the tacos are great-worlds best taco is my favorite but the street tacos, Korean short rib and the Marco Polo tacos are great too. I don't recommend the taco Tuesday $1 tacos, not the worst but you get what you pay for. The chicken club quesadilla is perfect if you don't want to leave there hating yourself over how much you ate. I like this joint. It's not super-authentic Mexican on the level of Mi Antojo or La Raza, but it's the only family-friendly sit down option within a 30 minute drive, and they also make a kick-ass table side guacamole. I judge all Mexican restaurants on one criteria, and that's how good their Chiles Rellenos are. Frontera makes a damned good Chile - a nice, juicy poblano pepper stuffed with cheddar, fried in a light, crispy batter, and topped with a lime crema sauce and crumbled cotija cheese. It's sort of an "upscale" twist on the usual chile drowned in enchilada sauce, and it's some of the best I've had. I always order one or two as a side dish (instead of apps because they load you up with an endless supply chips and a really tasty salsa). Other great options here are their Enchiladas de Mole, which consists of well seasoned shredded chicken folded into corn tortillas and smothered in a nice variation on typical mole sauce that's got a sort of cinnamon/apple kick to it. They've also got a selection of gourmet tacos (including a bacon-wrapped-shrimp number that will blow your mind), as well as all of the usual Tex Mex style stuff like Chimichangas and Quesadillas. All of it's really nicely presented with surprising attention to detail. Hell, even the usually disposable re-fried beans and rice are tasty! Oh man, and that guacamole!! Frontera's a nice addition to the local dining scene, with a reasonably priced and comprehensive menu that has something for everyone.
