    Breakfast Burrito
    Marissa J.

I've walked past this place many times but finally decided to stop in. It was the best find ever! They have some of the best coffee and breakfast I've ever tasted. I personally got the breakfast burrito and it was sooo good and flavorful. I'm also a big fan of their breakfast potatoes. The coffee tasted really good and fresh. There was a little wait but they do have a waitlist once you are there. All of the food came out quickly. Overall its a cute little restaurant tucked in the streets of old St.Charles.

It's a pretty space that would be perfect for meeting a friend, quiet on a weekday morning, good avocado toast, great coffee, friendly fast service.

I didn't know about this restaurant, but was definitely impressed. An eclectic and tasty selection of breakfast and cafe items. Worth checking out!

This time of year on Main Street in Dr. Charles is so festive. My cousin and I met at this establishment for brunch. They are in a new location and it's very beautiful. The charm of the historic building is well represented. It was busy and we did have to wait to place our order. I'll give them a pass this time since there was a 5K race ending and it's a popular time of year. Their breakfast potatoes were good, but were served a bit on the cool side. I also had the french onion soup. This was very delicious and I'm picky on any soup. I think it should be a food group. It's worth a try and I hope they bring back the chicken potpie soon. That is the meal that keeps me coming back.

    Hot Honey Hot Chicken Biscuit

My friend and I came here on a Saturday for some breakfast and coffee. I got a toffee nut latte and it was delicious! To eat I got the hot honey chicken biscuit. The chicken was really good with the honey and it had good flavor but the biscuit was a bit dry. I was a bit disappointed because it was just the chicken and biscuit, nothing else. I got the potatoes on the side with cheese, bacon, sour cream and onions. The potatoes were so good and I recommend getting them with all the things on them! I brought my 9 month old and the waitress offered me a high chair and I felt like there was plenty of room around the table for it without feeling crowded.

Beautiful space, decorated well and a very friendly staff! We ordered a couple of breakfasts and my wife's poached eggs came out hardboiled. The serves were great and took care of it, including having one of the redone eggs have to be redone again! My wife was so embarrassed, but they insisted on redoing them u til they got them correct (cooked, but runny). They laughed and joked with us and made the entire experience great. Good was all tasty and a good value for the price and environment! Would love to come back and try more options and see the servers (Megan and Jen) again!

Cute little place, limited seating. We got there around 10am on a Sunday, were seated quickly. Good menu selection, ice latte was excellent. Breakfast sandwich was good, but needed a sauce or spread. Belgian waffle was excellent. Would definitely go again when we can sit outside on the patio.

This is THE BEST place for breakfast/brunch in St Charles. Come at me... Seriously though. The food here is wonderful. Full of creative, scratch made signature dishes, created with QUALITY ingredients and delivered to your table with great service. I can't get away from the bomb burrito. Eggs, cheese, chorizo, and beef short rib meat. Soooo good. Served with the house potatoes, which are very simple, but prepared to absolute perfection!!!!! Now they're frying them in beef tallow. Yes. There's only a couple of places in StC that care enough to do this. No crappy vegetable oils here!! It's a somewhat small space, and can get busy at peak times on Fri, Sat, Sun, so be aware of that. BUT ITS WORTH THE WAIT!!!! The coffee drinks are also on point lots of great options to add a latté or cappuccino to your meal. Great place, usually our first choice for breakfast or lunch in St.Charles.

After reading many positive reviews for this, charming gem, I had to check it out for myself, and boy! Let me tell you, every review was absolutely spot on! This place is charming, quaint, has an upscale ambience that makes your breakfast or lunch experience all the more enjoyable. The staff were very friendly, fast and efficient. The food was above excellent, cooked perfectly. This place earned 5 x 2 thumbs up-satisfaction guaranteed!

Looking for a cozy, inviting venue? Head to Frontier Perk Cafe! Our visit was on a Sunday morning for a new venue for breakfast and it was perfect! This is located on Main Street in St Charles and is beautifully designed. Exposed brick to large booths and great wood flooring. We were greeted at the door and shown o a large booth in the back. The menus had a variety of signature items as well as traditional breakfast fare. My group enjoyed different items and they all arrived beautifully plated. From homemade quiche to a "stack" that looked to good to eat! Frontier Perk Cafe is open daily til 3pm and the menu looked to have great lunch options too. There was also a menus with "specials" and that looked seasonal so those items will change. I can't wait to visit again! Free street parking available as well as various free parking lots nearby.

Our server was great, she was friendly and efficient. They have some unique offerings, and I have been eyeing the chicken and waffles online. I liked the pearl sugar waffle and the chicken tender, I was glad to have gotten the sauce on the side, it was too sweet for me. I normally don't like leaving negative reviews, but something felt different this time. When we walked in there was only one other couple dining, and there was noticeable clutter sitting in the corners of the restaurant. It gave the place a different feel than what we remembered from our last visit. I ordered the Creole Breakfast Gravy. The biscuit itself was excellent--light, fluffy, and exactly how a biscuit should be. Unfortunately the gravy was disappointing. It tasted more like regular sausage gravy with a heavy amount of cayenne pepper and Cajun seasoning added to it. The flavors just didn't balance well. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict. One poached egg was perfect, but the other came out over medium. That's something a trained chef normally wouldn't send out, and it made me feel like the kitchen might have a cook working the line rather than a chef overseeing the dishes. I do want to say the waitress was phenomenal. She was very attentive, friendly, and always made sure our coffee stayed fresh and hot. Her service was definitely the highlight of the visit. We will likely come back again because we know this restaurant can do better. Hopefully the kitchen can correct a few things and bring the consistency back.

Let me start by saying that the food is usually very good. First Watch is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and I visit often. However, today's meal fell short of what I have come to expect. I ordered my usual smoked salmon dish and immediately noticed there was much less salmon on the plate than normal. I also requested that the salmon be cooked a little, as I typically do. When the plate arrived, the portion was noticeably smaller than what I have received on countless previous visits and the salmon was a little hard. In addition, the tomatoes were soggy, which further affected the quality of the meal. I politely mentioned my concerns and asked for more salmon. The manager did attempt to accommodate my request and brought out additional salmon, which I appreciated. However, even after the additional salmon was added, the portion still did not resemble what I am accustomed to receiving when ordering this dish. During our conversation, I was told that adding more salmon would not make much difference because it "shrivels up" when cooked. As someone who orders this meal regularly, that explanation did not align with my past experiences. What disappointed me most was not that a mistake may have been made, but how the concern was handled. As a loyal customer, I wasn't looking for an argument or an explanation. I was simply hoping the manager would acknowledge my concern and ensure I left satisfied. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my own experience with a dish that I order frequently. Additionally, my niece had the same meal. Hers was the same way, but after she saw what happened with me, she didn't even ask for anymore. She just ate it the way it was. At that point, I chose not to make a bigger issue of it and became quiet, but the interaction changed the atmosphere of what was supposed to be an enjoyable birthday breakfast. I will continue to visit First Watch because I generally enjoy the food and have had many positive experiences there. However, I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Customer service is often remembered long after the meal is over, and while I appreciate the manager's attempt to correct the issue, today's experience did not reflect the level of quality or service that has kept me coming back over the years.

I'd suggest that people were there to visit downtown St. Charles, or whatever it's called, which has a certain old-timey charm to it, but everything else was closed--presumably until later in the day, but who knows. That fentanyl is a menace. Parking could be a pain, if it's not the wee hours of the morning on a weekend, and you're not ambulatory enough to walk from a block or two over, and yet you're going to get essentially the equivalent of a milkshake and a donut. Inside is rustic, inviting and larger than you'd think, with an upstairs area that I didn't bother to explore, due to lack of curiosity. We had a larger group and ended up pushing a few smaller tables together, plus a few chairs we borrowed from other tables. No one seemed to mind. The key is not to ask first. That mentality will take you far in both the world of finance and dating. I'm kind of over ordering food from coffee shops, where they're obviously just throwing something in the microwave and charging you $10 for it, but I needed something to eat. I'd just gone for a run. Their burrito looked like the textbook definition of cultural appropriation, but it also looked like it might not be half bad. I had their equivalent of an Egg McMuffin, called Ron's Breakfast Sandwich, or something to that effect. When I hear the name Ron, I of course think of Sasso from Carlito's Way, but that probably says more about me than anything else. I'm assuming he didn't have anything to do with this. Essentially, this was a store-bought English muffin, a surprisingly generous and delicious helping of cheddar cheese, a few slices of seemingly prepackaged black forest ham and a fried egg. It was fine for what it was. Could the egg have been salted, could the muffin have been buttered and could the ham been an actual slice of Canadian bacon, or even better, American bacon? Sure, but I went into this with low expectations. The cheddar was melty and delicious, and weirdly abundant, but processed American cheese would have been more fitting for this kind of sandwich. You'd think a guy named Ron wouldn't object to processed foods. The caramel frappe I had was amazing. I got it with whole milk and whipped cream. I didn't bother to check and see if they charge you extra for whipped cream, which is the kind of crap some of these places have been known to pull. I got the 16 oz instead of the 20 oz, but it was probably still enough to take a day off the end of my life (when I don't need it as much anyway fwiw). Sometimes, when a food item tastes good enough, you can just tell it's not good for you, and that was the case with this drink. It was decidedly rich. I'm never in this part of town, and if I were, it would be at night, natch, but if things ever get to the point where they're clearly trending in that direction, I might start stopping by on the reg and getting that caramel frappe just to speed along the process of my demise.

Within minutes, that feeling had disappeared. The martini was perfectly prepared, and the beet and burrata salad was fresh, balanced, and exactly the light meal I was hoping to find. More importantly, the atmosphere accomplished something great restaurants rarely get credit for: it changed my mood. What began as an evening I hadn't planned to spend alone became one I genuinely enjoyed.
