Not only was the hospitality at @frontierperkcafe impeccable, but their food was warm, comforting, and delicious. My husband had their luscious pulled short rib on a bed of hash brown patty with a poached egg on top. I had the sweet and savory honey hot chicken biscuit paired with a velvety Chai latte with almond milk. We both rolled ourselves out with happy bellies and smiles on our faces. It is a beautiful place for breakfast, brunch or lunch in a gorgeous historic building. The coffees are excellent and the food is just amazing. Really flavorful. They use beef tallow in their fryer which is great! You don't see many places making the switch from bad seed oils. They also use organic coffee. I find this to be in very good character and shows they really care about their customers. Can't wait to go back and try more things. We were doing some shopping on Main Street and popped in here to get Hubby a coffee. Ordering process was quick and easy at the counter, the employee was friendly and helpful. Hubby ordered a regular with cream and said it was very good (I don't drink coffee, cant share my own opinion). The pricing was also very reasonable from what I've experienced other places. The food menu looked really good and they advertise that their food is homemade which definitely had me drooling... we weren't looking to eat but would like to try it at another time. Be aware that this is a VERY SMALL storefront with only a couple of tables. Everyone had a seat when we came in but I can see where there could be a wait involved during busy times. read more

We looked for a new adventure close to home. We weren't disappointed with Frontier Perk Cafe. As many others stated, this is a small cafe in downtown St Charles. There is a good selection of food for both lunch and breakfast. The Americano I ordered was good too, but being charged for half and half was a little weird. That usually comes with coffee. Jake greeted us, and he did a great job making sure the customer area stayed cleaned. I will say he seemed serious in his personality. He did lighten up some as we talked to him more. There are 5 tables indoors. Neat decor on the walls. It has an "at home" feel. If you like spicy, the breakfast tacos are a hit. The Braised Short Rib Eggs Benedict was phenomenal! There were a number of pastries to choose from, but we did not partake in those. All in all, we will go back! We enjoyed it. read more

We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. There are about 8 tables inside and maybe 5 outside on their patio (which is to the side of the building and easy to miss!). You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table once it is ready. We found the service to be very friendly and happy to help customers. They have a really good selection for breakfast and lunch. Several sandwich, soup, and salad options. There are also a ton of flavored coffees and smoothies to choose from. We ordered a wrap and sandwich and talked about how good they both were for the rest of the day! Each came with a side of wavy/crinkle chips. I think they may be sweet potato chips? I am in love with frontier perk cafe! This place is so adorable! I had never been to St. Charles and this was one of many places I absolutely adored. I came for brunch with my friend and had a lovely experience. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Food was great. I had the quiche. My friend got a turnover I believe? What a wonderful cafe! Such a quaint spot to have a late breakfast or lunch along with coffee/espresso beverages or, like I had, Sweet Tea! Seating is not ample, so if you visit during a peak time, it's likely that there will be challenges having a seat. Some seating available outside to the right of the building. I settled on the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit w/Breakfast Potatoes and a Side of scrambled eggs with cheese. Biscuit is amazing! At first glance, I thoughtvit would be crumbly, but I was pleasantly surprised that the Biscuit was just as you want ot to be. It's nice that they split it in 1/2 and griddle it to give it texture. The chicken breast was tasty, but could have been slightly larger. Potatoes and Eggs were true to expectations. Overall, very enjoyable late breakfast and would certainly go again. read more

Coffee drinks at this location are quite good and run the average coffeehouse price wise. The food service is good as the wait staff go, the food itself seems to take quite some time to get prepared and can be over done (chicken strips) my friend Red and I were in on a recent Sunday late in the afternoon and had this experience. Red had biscuits and gravy, the biscuit sadly tasted only like flour, the sausage gravy was flavor full. I had chicken strips and fries, sadly we had arrived late in the afternoon after a rush at the establishment that had seemingly left the kitchen staff out of sorts. Wait time on the chicken strips being around 40 to 45 minutes. The chicken strips were tasty when they arrived but a bit over cooked, the fries, well they were like most places over salted and barely warm. I will say that the staff did their best to try and keep us updated on why the food was taking a while to be prepared. I would highly recommend the coffee drinks at this establishment, but would say go when they are not busy to eat, I will return for a second meal and another review as I believe this establishment is much better food wise than my first go round showed. read more

Went here due to positive Yelp reviews and happy with our decision! Adorable location with street parking. We were seated immediately and had the best service. No eggs benedict on the menu so a little disappointed but our food was satisfying. Coffee was delicious! Two of us ordered the omelet, one ordered the chicken salad croissant, and the other in our party ordered the club wrap. Everything we ordered was delicious and nice portions. My wife and I were in the neighborhood and decided to try something new. This place looked like it would fit the bill. The layout inside wasn't thought out to well. You stood in a line down the middle of tables to order then there really wasn't a place to stand or wait while your order was made. They had a sign that you should not take a table until your order is ready but more often then not an employee had to go boot someone from a table while those of us ready to eat had to stand. This is a cozy breakfast spot. We came here for a quick bite not knowing what to expect. The sit down space is small so if they are busy and you plan to eat in, be ready to wait. Take out is always an option and I know they have good options. You have to order at the counter first to get a table. My only issue is they use a television menu board against the wall and even with my excellent vision, it was hard to read. I opted for the quiche and my friend got the traditional breakfast. I also got a side of breakfast potato's with cheese and sour cream. We got coffees too and they let us have a open table with a number. In order to ensure that your food is hot and fresh when it comes out they don't start it until you have a table. The service was great, the food was tasty and the space was cozy. My only issue is half way through our meal the place got crowded and I had a woman leaning against my chair as I was finishing my breakfast. It was a little uncomfortable as she really didn't know where to stand and when she rested her arm absently on the back of my char hitting my back- we were both shocked and embarrassed. I can't blame her completely, the staff didn't exactly control the waiting people in the best way to avoid the situation of people watching you eat so they can have your table. I think that as the temps get colder and the popularity of this place increases they need a better system to keep everyone comfortable. Lucky for all, the patrons and staff alike are all very friendly and we can have a good laugh about it. All I ordered was the "magic chicken soup" and it took 25 minutes to come out. By the time I got the soup, it wasn't even warm and everyone I was eating with had finished all their food. Wanted to take my sister somewhere before leaving to go back home so we found this gem in Saint Charles Main Street. Nice area with a lot of shops and restaurants people would enjoy. I'm really glad we came here. You can sit inside or they do have an outside section you can sit at. I was recommended to try the shrimp tacos and they did not disappoint! Loved the mango salsa that came with it and also the house made chips!! My sister grabbed the Hot Honey Chicken which she loved! Honestly just skip out on the huevos rancheros, they're good but they just don't compare to the short rib egg stack, so good, along with the heaping helping of home style potato's they give you. I loooove this cafe! The salted caramel latte and the London Fog are definitely my favorites. Even on a busy day they work pretty quick and it is a great spot to grab food or a drink. I love popping in here when I on Main Street walking around. You can try the Turkey Bacon Avocado (delish!) and their Chicken and waffles is great too. Cozy on a cold day just to stop in. The main thing I remember about this place was hoe friendly the staff were and how they really made us feel welcome. Headed to Old St. Charles to enjoy the gorgeous weather and get some lunch and shop. He decided to stop at The Frontier Perk. This cute cafe right on Main Street is a Gem. Everything is made from scratch. We had a hard time deciding on what to get so we decided to get s few things and share. The French onion soup was one of the best and the Homemade Chili with cornbread a must for the crisp Fall weather. The Chicken Pot Pie topped with a flaky puff pastry hit the spot. The Cuban was big enough to share. The pork on the Cuban was a little fatty but nothing I couldn't overlook as the flavors were so good. Everything comes with their Homemade Chips. Which could use a little salt. They had a case of Bakery Goodies if you are looking for a sweet treat at the end.
