What a treat to stop for some delicious Italian food on a long drive from Las Vegas. Great service!

Frugattis is my go to spot for Italian food in town. It's a little small so there can be a wait sometimes. They renovated the outside and it looks great. If you don't mind eating with wet clothes because the server dumped your full glass of water all over your 6 month pregnant belly and lap. If you don't mind your server forgetting your order because he didn't bother to write it down and then when your food comes out he brings you wrong food. Then yes this is the place for you. I was a server for 12+ years and I would have done whatever I could to make it right. I'm not one who goes to restaurants and complain but nothing was done to try to make it right but the manger didn't come by and at least touch our table. I love Frugatti's but I'd say we are definitely put off for a while. Total bummer. read more

I never really appreciated how good Frugattis was till i left Bakersfield, its hard to find good Italian food sometimes.... Coming here on a Friday your gonna want reservations cause its can get quite busy here........... So normally at the beginning you get these bread rolls that are so warm and delicious you could literally fill yourself up with these things, put some good olive oil and butter and yum! your good to go! Now my mom always loves the chicken "things" i think there pretty good and they come with a really good sauce on them which make them even better. Now for dinner I've had a few different items. I love the Gorgonzola penne/tortellini, my brother loves the calzone, and normally my parents will split some plate i don't really care about cause I'm too busy stuffing my face with my delicious pasta. The atmosphere is nice and it had ample room for a large party....it can get a little loud and they also have a bar so if your waiting for your table you can enjoy a drink or two.. Ive never had dessert here as i have been spoiled by going to Dewars a few too many times, so i try to make it there early so i can leave early enough to get my cookies and cream from Dewars... So if your in town or on that side of town i would definitely recommend heading out to this place and getting something to eat! read more

I have been here on many occasions, it's the first place we think of when we are celebrating something. We have worked our way around the menu and have loved everything we've tried. Even with amazing food, the thing that keeps us coming back is the service. We are made to feel like family on every visit, no matter how busy they are. The BEST carrot cake in town! Service is top notch- attentive but not intrusive. The tomato sauce is fantastic, with or without meat. The homemade minestrone soup is a real hit. The salad is always fresh and they really pile it high! On the weekend your meal will be accompanied by Bob who plays the accordion lending to the atmosphere of this wonderful restaurant. read more

We have been going to Frugatti's for a while and just had one of the worst experiences. We were going to the movies and decided to eat at Frugatti's prior to the movie. We told the waitress, Dawn, that we had tickets. We ordered and Dora disappeared. Half an hour later, the salads came. The order was completely wrong. Our drinks were empty and had been sitting there empty for 15 minutes. ONE HOUR went by and we still did not have our food. I finally got up to go and check on it because Dawn never came back. I could see the food sitting on top of the counter. FINALLY, it got to the table and was cold as it had been sitting there for some time. One dish did not come at all. We tried to tell Dawn that we had tickets. We finally decided to just leave. One dish never came at all. When we left, after 90 minutes two of us did not have any food. The bill still came to $83.00 while we had only managed to get a small pizza and one dish of pasta. The rest of us had nothing. The soft drinks were $5.00 and were never refilled. We had never had a bad meal here before but this was a total disaster. I don't think the problem was the restaurant itself but with Dawn Sadly, we missed our movie and had to reschedule it. We ended up eating fast food at a drive-through and that is AFTER paying $83.00 for a lunch that we never got. read more

Hello everyone....I ordered take out on Mother's Day which was yesterday. It was a 2 hour wait which was ok. The next day I ate some of my Pasta which was kept in my Refrigerator over night, now I waited for it to cool, down before placing my pasta in the refrigerator last night ok. People this food had me on the toilet/ stomach hurting for hours. I don't know about this place. This was all that I ate and i'm telling you I will never go back there again! True Customer!!!! I love Frugattis because they make the BEST gluten free pizza in town! It has an actual crust (unlike most gf pizza), and admittedly, I dip it in the oil and vinegar, just like the bread. It's delicious, and reminds me of the good ole days (when I could actually eat gluten)! We had a little date night tonight and Andrew was our server. Great service. Great food. Great night. Food is amazing. Service yesterday was horrible! My father preordered a cake for his wedding, the cashier first tried to give him a cake that was 1/2 sheet when he ordered a full sheet. Second cashier managed to find a full sheet cake that was apparently labeled "incorrectly". Neither cashier could figure out how to charge him for the cake so the manager had to be called. Unfortunately, the manager "was on the phone" and couldn't come out to assist. He told them he had appointments to get to and tried to give them his card, after a few minutes he gave them his phone number and said to call him and charge him over the phone. Finally, as he was walking out (cake already loaded), the manager magically appeared to charge him. No apology for the confusion or wait... 25 minute ordeal just to pick up a cake that was preordered and supposed to be ready. read more

Possibly the best restaurant in Bakersfield! They were definitely busy--the restaurant was jam packed on a Saturday night. However, the food and service were worth the wait! We had the salad, garlic chicken calzone (get it supreme!), and the eggplant parmesan. The portions were huge and the food itself was delicious. The service was outstanding as well. This was our first time eating here 3/27/21. the wait was over an hour. They Do not take reservations, when we called they told us that even though it says it on the website. After we finally got seated our server Richard came with bread ,olive oil and balsamic. The experience we had plus the food was perfect. I use to be a server 35+ years and let me tell you Richard our server is 10 + star server. we received EXCELENTE service from him. The food was excellent as well. Definitely worth the wait. When I come back to visit my friend we will definitely come here again. You made this San Diego girl a fan. Thank you Richard B. for your excellent service your bosses should know what a great server you are. Frugatti's is a good "family" restaurant. I say family, because it's kind of like eating at an italian family's dinner table. The food leans towards home-cooking more than chain-restaurant cooking, and the overall vibe is relaxed. Now I am biased, since I used to work at Giovanni's in Shafter - the owner's original restaurant. I know the family, and the recipes are AUTHENTIC. Now I won't be shy with this comment, GIOVANNIS WAS BETTER! But it's been sold to another family and it just isn't anywhere near the same (sorry guys, but it's just another "pizza joint" now). Keep in mind that Italian home-cooking isn't 5-star dining. It's finding a way to feed 9 people with $5. So you get some flour and make bread and pasta, then you get some tomatoes and spices and make some sauces.. Mix in the meat, and you've got enough food to feed your brood. THIS is what Frugatti's is. Some things to note about Frugatti's- the bread is baked fresh in house. the cheesecakes and desserts are all made in-house. that is a real brick oven. Drove by Frugattis countless times and always made a note to self that I needed to check this place out. l really wanted to love the food but their food is mediocre at best. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and I like that they have a wood burning oven. Speaking of that...makes sense to try out the pizza right? Well, it was a big disappointment. The pizza was just average tasting. Maybe it has to do with me growing up in Boston and being surrounded by tasty authentic Italian food and some of the best pizza....whatever the reason, my opinion is the food is overpriced for the quality. I don't mind paying top dollar for great food but this place was not worth it. My daughter did like the Edna's lasagna. But what kid doesn't like pasta with a mountain of cheese on it? First, I want to say that there was nothing wrong with the salmon on the fitness menu. It was just without all the pasta the other plates had. To answer your question, the Braciole was not recommended by the waitress. I saw it on the menu and had to have it. You don't see it in very many Italian restaurants. Frugatti's is a special family restaurant that I love going to. Everything from the house salad to the pastas to the cheesecake is delicious! The food here just isn't good. This place came highly recommended by multiple people so we thought we would give it a try. The wait was about 45 mins which is fine because it was a Saturday around 6 and we were prepared to wait. The staff was friendly and attentive even though they were dealing with a very full restaurant and some large groups. The ambience here is cute. Reminds me of an old, east coast Italian eatery with fun pictures and traditional decor. The bread was just ok. It wasn't warm and seemed a little stale. The balsamic and olive oil for dipping was nice though. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. The salad was overdressed and the pasta was awful! It had hardly any sauce or flavor and had an unsettling yellow color. I ordered the chicken parm and a garden salad. The salad was bland and was basically a big bowl of lettuce with one tomato slice and a pepperoncini. The chicken was too salty and was served with garlic mashed potatoes which was odd. All our food was like warm at best. For dessert we ordered the lemon ricotta cheesecake which was completely burned on the bottom and inedible. We send it back and opted out of any other dessert. All in all this place is disappointing and I have no idea what all the hype is. read more

I ordered a steak and pasta and the steak was really good at the flavor was amazing but I took a bite and it was so hard that I almost shipped my tooth. I had been wanting to try the patio setting for quite some time. We were able to get online and get on the wait list prior to driving down there. The wait was not very long and we were seated in the north, side patio. Our waitress was awesome and the food was outstanding! I finally went and tried for the first time, and let me say I was not impressed by the least. My meal sounded amazing. Once it arrived it even looked amazing. However upon consuming it lacked so much! The flavor was not there in any of the 3 items. My boyfriend ordered the best steak on the menu and again not impressed.
