Overheard so may great things about this place. When we first got there the waitress was rude and hardly came to our table, people who got there after us got their food before us. Our appetizers and entrees got to the table at the same time some cold some lukewarm. The food was greasy and little flavor it was okay but not for the price. The plus of this and why it's one star is because of the eggplant parmesan it had pretty good flavor. My mom won a gift certificate so she payed with that and cash. I've been eating at Frugatti's for over 15 years. If I'm in town, I'm there at least twice per week. First I love that it's not a chain. It's family run and there is one member of the family or another there pretty much every day (after 15 years, you can recognize them). The meals range between pretty darned good and outstanding. The Carrot Cake is a home run. Price are very reasonably given quality ( I don't know why people would find it pricey, but I'd love to take them to Ruth's Chris!!!) Yes, they occasionally have a miss, but all businesses do. Yes getting in the parking lot is sometimes rough. But, GO... ENJOY! Good food, nice people, reasonable prices. Great experience! read more

My daughter and I were looking for a place to enjoy a wood fire margherita pizza and assumed that Frugatti's would be the perfect place. Much to our disappointment, the pizza was mostly dough with very little sauce, cheese, or basil. It was bland and nothing special. We tried a flatbread version of this type of pizza at the new Studio Movie Grill last weekend that was much better tasting than what we ordered today. I expressed my dissatisfaction to our server, but all she said was "I'm sorry". No effort was made to offer us a complimentary dessert or even comp the meal as some restaurants will do when the customer is not satisfied. This used to be my favorite restaurant in town. After my last visit for my birthday with my family, I sadly won't be back here. After waiting over an hour to be seated and basically having to find our own table because it seemed we had been forgotten about by the hostess, we sat down and waited about 10 more minutes for menus. Once we met our server we ordered house cab for the table and as she approached us the entire bottle of wine fell on the floor shattering and covering my boyfriend and mines legs/feet. I completely understand accidents happen, however, we were treated almost like it was our fault the entirety of our evening. Not even a manager came out to check on us until we asked to speak to one before we left. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had here and our family won't be returning. read more

Missus and I have been coming to this outstanding eatery for years, decided to bring the in-laws to show off Bakersfield's italian restaurant. The reservation app works very well and we received a text confirmation immediately. Showed up at the appointed time and were promptly seated. Taylor was our sever and she was attentive without being overly inquisitive. Ordered drinks and appetizers (stuffed mushrooms and bruscetta). Wine list contained excellent wines (kudos to the buyer) and we settled for a pinot noir and a cab from Opolo vineyards. Appetizers were delivered promptly, hmm, several mushrooms still had the stem attached, thus negating the "stuffed" sausage mix. Better half said probably a mistake, since the restaurant had operated flawlessly for every prior visit. We agreed that we had never been here on a Sunday evening, so maybe the head chef was off enjoying their off-time - ok, no problem. Ordered spicy sausage ravioli and lamb medallions along with basic pasta for the rest of the party. By the way, fresh bread is still awesome! However (this is the part where the wheels fell off), the ravioli was brought cold to the table. I'm talking room temperature or lower, really weird, based on our experience. No problem, just called Taylor over and mentioned that the pasta was a tad cold. She said she'll get the chef to toss it again (?). Brought the same plate back and the ravioli was a bit warmer, but not hot like the othere plates on the table. Hmmm, oh well, ate some but gave up because the pasta had been sitting for awhile that it had hardened at all the edges. On to the lamb medallions, which were approximately a bit bigger than a quarter, well cooked and seasoned, but was trimmed with an excessive amount of fat. So after cutting away the fat, there wasn't much left to eat. Asked Taylor whether the portion was adequate and apparently that's the way it is. Did not notice any manager walking around, maybe he/she was in the private room attending to a large party. Got some desserts (lemoncello - awesome!) and left paying the entire bill. I took my niece here for her birthday and was sadly disappointed. We had to ask the waitress 3 times for one of our parties drinks after her bring the incorrect one the first time. Then after 20 minutes and to ask for our salads and soup, we finally got our appetizer 15 minutes after that. Then watched as the table next to us who was seated 15 minutes after us get their food before us. You could tell that our food had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. I bought an appetizer named spicy Parmesan chicken things and the dinner tortelloni alfredo , so delicious, only downside is it's very expensive! I got the raviloi with meat sauce and it was really good. The tiramisu is phenomenal! I would recommend it to anyone who goes here. I have had it in Italy and this was indistinguishable. My husband and I came in yesterday evening to celebrate an early Valentines date. First I would like to start by saying the host that greeted us up at the front was very welcoming and sweet. She even asked if we would prefer a booth or a table, (we choose a booth). She took us right away to a booth and once we sat down our server was very efficient and greeted us quickly. We ordered the chicken fettuccine while my husband had the chicken cannelloni and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS. The service here overall was incredible and we felt very welcomed. We got a coupon in the mail when we first moved to Bakersfield, it was for a free entree so we thought we would check the place it out. I suppose the ambiance is nice cause of the live music but I did not find any vegetarian friendly meals on the menu, I had to order a salad. As vegetarianism becomes more and more popular, I hope more places will add more meat free dishes to their menu. I also don't eat cheese so that's why there was hardly anything for me here. I also ordered a Caesar salad for an appetizer. I didn't realize it never came out till my wife noticed it when we received our entrées. At the end of our meal she asked if we wanted dessert, so I ask for a dessert menu... she forgot to bring that out to me as well!!
