What a cool find! Nice ambiance hangout bar type of place. Husband had a lobster roll sandwich and it was delicious! I enjoyed the fuego plate with adovada, rice and beans and it was very tasty. We were driving home on a Friday night and decided to pop in for dinner. We were lucky a table opened up for us as we were walking in. They were super busy as is expected on a Friday evening. We ordered the chips, salsa and queso. The salsa did not have too much heat but man the queso was sooooo good! We will definitely skip the salsa and just get that next time. This is definitely a bar with tables around it. Cool interior and a definite place to come hang out. Met my friend for dinner! We had housemade queso and chips. Queso was good. My friend had a Paloma and the bowl option where you pick protein and all the fixings. She enjoyed both! I got 3 tacos and the green chili mac and cheese. I got the fried fish, brisket and shrimp. Liked the fish and shrimp best. The mac and cheese was tasty and I took it home for lunch the next day. Super good leftovers!! I love this place! Found this gem last October and made it a priority on my cross country road trip. I had the Korean pork belly taco and the shrimp taco which were both delicious! With all the hype I thought this place would be great, but it's just ok. After giving them a few chances, I've given up. They try, but it seems there is always an issue with the food. They'll fix it, and it is good when they do, but at a restaurant like this, you expect them to get it right the first time, eventually. I eat at lots of places, and I rarely have problems with my meal, or they are so minor I just live with it and don't even bother bringing it up, but this place is different. They brought us burnt food one of the times, and I don't mean just a little burnt, straight up burnt. I guess I don't understand why the cook, server or whoever wouldn't see that and get it fixed before even considering taking it out. I can't speak to the drinks, but the food doesn't have a great track record, and it's not worth waiting twice for it. read more

I have been hearing rave reviews about this place from a friend for a while and we finally went to check it out recently. There are tons of great options on the menu with unique protein options such as rabbit and rattlesnake if that's your jam. Don't worry, there's more traditional items such as chicken, brisket, carnitas, etc. to also choose from. The tacos are ridiculous and flavorful. Sometimes tacos can be hit or miss so I let my hubby try them. He did the chef's special (chef chooses the selection) and got the shrimp, fried avocado, and brisket/barrio beef. He doesn't even like shrimp but has been raving about them for the last few days. That in itself should say something. The cocktails are unique and imaginative. S'more old fashioned? Chai White Russian? Blackberry Bourbon smash? Yes please! They were all delicious but very small for the price. They were all very tasty though. The rest of the menu itself was reasonably priced. The tacos were amazing and I had the nachos with the barrio beef that was also delicious (and yes, you should get the egg on them). I really need to create my nacho list because it's a running joke with my friends that I'm a nacho connoisseur. Some get chicken wings if they're on the menu, I get nachos. While these didn't make my top 3, I would say these are easily in my top 5 and that's not an easy task- ABQ has a lot of good nachos. The food was absolutely outstanding at this place and I'm so glad we tried it. However, the service really needs work. The waitress was great and friendly but slow and never cleared the table of any used dishes. Our drinks didn't come out until after our meal arrived which was a bit ridiculous. Love this restaurant always come here however the young bartender that has a shaved head and a gold chain is the most rudest person I've known to see, no smile on his face very aggressive we had a pick up order, there was an issue with the chip on our card and he tried swiping it. It didn't work so my husband asked him. I called ahead and made a reservation for 12 people on a Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. . I am glad that I called. When we arrived our table was ready it was reserved and we really appreciated that. With that said, we were seated at two tables that were side by side. That was okay. Not the best for inclusion as far as a group goes but it worked out okay. However, the music was so loud that it was even hard to carry on a conversation with the people next to you. I wish they would lower their music a little bit. We enjoyed wind down Wednesday with six dollar glasses of wine. Two people got burgers and they said that they would just okay. One person ordered chips and salsas. The red salsa is homemade and is very very garlicky. I opted for three sides. I got the cheese mac, calibasitas, and elote. Our server was very efficient almost to the point of being too efficient. She was extremely quick and while I wanted a second glass of wine I got my bill before I was able to order. The absolute best bar ever on the Westside, not only do they have a wide range of beer on tap they also serve food so no worries about going outside to a food truck. But yes they have more than just on tap beer, they have all types of alcohol you can possibly think of. I love the service always so attentive and always gets your order in right away, the manager always comes around and ask you have you been help after like 5 minutes of sitting down just in case but usually never the case. The roof of my mouth has been hurting like f#$k for the last three days and that's because I ordered the nachos, and the house-made tortilla chips were thick and way unnecessary. Nailing the texture for nacho chips is a delicate ordeal, for sure, you gotta hit something that won't slouch but also nails crispy, something these chips don't do. But as an overall impression, I liked Fuego 505, even if my mouth was aching. I've always liked the guru, Chef Raul, and his skills are well represented in this newest eatery, where he really specializes in tacos that get massively creative and sometimes win, sometimes snore. My wife thought the fish tacos absolutely won out, while the avocado rendition didn't make the grade. Overall, this place is a great start. Our server was late and she apologized and in the end she earned a 20%+ tip, food was solid, expect Chef Raul to win the meats -- the carnitas made me squeal, they're tender and moist and almost good enough to temper the hurt of the house-made tortilla chips. We love this place. We go here at least once a week. They have the best food and tacos. We have not had a bad meal here yet. The flavor and tastes of their food is definitely worth trying and is always fresh. Service is always super prompt and friendly. It is self seating which we like, so we can pick our own spot. Has a big bar in the middle if you are looking for a quick bite. Our favorite is the chef's special, because it is different every time and it is all delicious. Can't go wrong with the lobster roll either and we like to always start with the ceviche. Can be a little more on the pricey end, but I think it is worth the flavor and quality food you are getting. Overall the food had good presentation and was ok but we all agreed the flavor was muted. It's not like the food had no flavor, there was a little hint of nice flavors but it needed a little something extra to make those flavors pop! They just introduced onion rings to their menu, and wow, they're so bomb. It's hard to find good, non frozen onion rings. They actually stayed cripsy while I finished my sammich. I am a repeat customer to this establishment. Well I visited this establishment last night and witnessed an incident that I felt compelled to bring to everyone's attention. After observing a couple being seated at the bar, I attempted to enter, but was denied entry by the doors being locked. Shortly after, other patrons left, visibly upset, stating that the bar had been closed because the manager was tired and wished to go home. It was 8:30 pm. The hours say they close at 11pm. While I understand that business may have been slow, it seemed that there was still customer interest, as multiple cars were arriving in the parking lot. Ignoring potential customers in this manner reflects poorly on this establishment will probably be detrimental to this business. I'm very disappointed that I wasted my time and gas traveling to a location where I was unable to have dinner and a drink. read more

I was contacted by Matt the owner and he asked me to give Fuego505 another chance, which I did with a friend this past Saturday. It was a like I was in a completely different restaurant. My server came over right away, took the drink order and then came back to help us decide what we were going to have for food. The description for the Avocado Tacos was slightly different. He clarified they were the same scrumptious delight as before. I really like the fish tacos, but at his encouragement, decided to be adventuresome and try the shrimp tacos, which I had never had before. The food arrived promptly and hot. We were asked if there was anything else we needed. The server also came around at least twice more to make sure we were doing well. This was a great difference than my previous visit. I felt welcomed like a guest that I was. I want to say that in a little over two months, my dining experience at Fuego505 was changed and so much better and enjoyable. I am glad. Smashing! I don't just say that because of the delicious Blackberry Mint Bourbon Smash, I say that because the food was positively delicious. The environment is clean, warm, and friendly. The tables are well situated for 4-6 people, but we had a group of 9 and were quite comfortable splitting into two tables. The Rotisserie Achiote Tacos were well seasoned, the corn tortilla crisp, and the lime crema added such a delightful zing. The calabacitas were spicy with flavorful green chile, cilantro, and the perfect sprinkle of cheese. I was told that the Borracho tacos hit the spot and the quesadilla tacos were tasty as well, by my very picky children. Great experience overall! read more

The food and service is great here. The reason for only 3 stars is this establishment offers half price nachos on Thursdays during happy hour. Great deal right? Well really what they mean is a half portion of nachos. The regular nachos are $15. I get my bill and was charged $8 for the nachos. If my math is correct (and it always is), that is not 50% off. This is a great place for the neighborhood. The menu is good and the food is great. We visit at least once a month. Just one suggestion for the owners/managers: upgrade your red chili and make it more authentic! It is not very good. This is New Mexico - it should more flavorful! read more
